Abstract

In addition to the fire characteristic of smoke density (MWR), the environmental characteristic of relative air humidity (F) is measured in the scattered-light detector using a humidity sensor (FS) arranged in the measuring chamber (MK). A humidity measured value (MWF) is determined from the measured relative air humidity (F) by means of a measured value linearisation device, the smoke density measured value (MWR) being compensated by the humidity measured value (MWF) above a specific measured value for the relative air humidity (F). The compensated smoke density measured value (KMWR) is processed further in order to form alarm criteria. In this case, the compensation can be performed in the scattered-light detector (SM) or in the control centre (Z), the compensated smoke density measured values (KMWR) or the smoke density measured values (MWR) and the humidity measured values (MWF) being transmitted periodically to the control centre (Z). <IMAGE>
