Abstract

EL DIOXIDO DE CLORO SE FORMA POR UN PROCESO ELECTROQUIMICO AUTOCATALITICO A PARTIR DE SOLUCION DE CLORATO MUY ACIDA CONTENIENDO UNA CONCENTRACION RESIDUAL DE DIOXIDO DE CLORO. SE APLICA CORRIENTE CATODICA A LA SOLUCION POR UN ELECTRODO ELECTROQUIMICAMENTE ACTIVO QUE ES QUIMICAMENTE INERTE Y NO CATALIZA LA FORMACION QUIMICA DE DIOXIDO DE CLORO DESDE LA SOLUCION DE CLORATO ACIDA. EL DIOXIDO DE CLORO DE ALTA PUREZA SE OBTIENE MIENTRAS SE CONSUME LA MITAD DEL ACIDO Y SE PRODUCE LA MITAD DEL AGUA, EN COMPARACION CON UN PROCESO QUIMICO CONVENCIONAL DE GENERACION DE DIOXIDO DE CARBONO DE CLORO.CHLORINE DIOXIDE IS FORMED BY AN AUTOCATALYTICAL ELECTROCHEMICAL PROCESS FROM A VERY ACID CHLORATE SOLUTION CONTAINING A RESIDUAL CHLORINE DIOXIDE CONCENTRATION. A CATHODIC CURRENT IS APPLIED TO THE SOLUTION BY AN ELECTROCHEMICALLY ACTIVE ELECTRODE WHICH IS CHEMICALLY INERT AND DOES NOT CATALYSE THE CHEMICAL FORMATION OF CHLORINE DIOXIDE FROM THE ACID CHLORATE SOLUTION. HIGH PURITY CHLORINE DIOXIDE IS OBTAINED WHILE HALF THE ACID IS CONSUMED AND HALF THE WATER IS PRODUCED, COMPARED TO A CONVENTIONAL CHEMICAL PROCESS FOR THE GENERATION OF CHLORINE CARBON DIOXIDE.
