Abstract

The turret has a clutch member (5) which slides axially along a non-axially moveable shaft (2) associated with the tool-holding member by hydraulic actuation of a piston part and locks and unlocks the shaft and the turret base member (1). The clutch has a gear (10) for rotation in the unlocked position by a lateral hydraulic motor and auxiliary rotary means (20) on the shaft (2), in the unlocked position, enables work to be performed with a rotary tool mounted on the shaft. An electromagnet operates a rod to engage a selected notch in a disc (13) on the shaft (2). The gear (10) can have detection elements for sensing by a proximity device.
