Definitions
- the technical solution concerns the area of deflection of light rays from the light source of the vehicle's headlight into the opening in the sleeve, with the light rays then passing through the plastic covers, from which the light rays are reflected over the entire surface, thus creating an attractive appearance of the vehicle.
- the headlights use an LED or OLED light source that emits light beams that are reflected by the reflector, forming the desired light beams in certain light modes where the beams only pass through the front transparent headlight cover.
- This solution is unsuitable due to the insufficient attractiveness of the vehicle's appearance.
- a headlight for vehicles comprising a rear headlight cover and a translucent front headlight cover, a light guide and a sleeve, wherein the sleeve has a base with an attached light source, a translucent optical element opposite the base and an opaque cover of the sleeve arranged between the optical element and the base, which forms the sleeve casing.
- the light guide rests against the opaque cover of the sleeve at least at one point.
- the opaque sleeve cover has an opening, wherein the light guide rests against the opaque sleeve cover in the area where the opening is formed.
- This opening makes it possible to use the light rays emitted by the light source and incident in the area of the opening (parasitic light) to illuminate the light guide. It is therefore not necessary to provide additional light sources that would only be intended for illuminating the light guide. It is also advantageous to deflect at least some of the light rays from the sleeve space, which can cause undesirable reflections on the optical element of the sleeve, such as the lens, due to unsuitable reflections.
- the light guide emits light in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 565 nm or a narrower range from this interval.
- a narrower range is preferably the wavelength range from 450 nm to 500 nm, which corresponds to the colors blue to cyan.
- the wavelength range can be 380 nm to 450 nm (violet), 450 nm to 485 nm (blue), 485 nm to 500 nm (cyan), 500 nm to 565 nm (green).
- the individual wavelength ranges or colors mentioned can be combined. This achieves the desired optical effect, which can distinguish the light emitted by the light guide from the light emitted by the vehicle, for example the light emerging from the headlight tube.
- the light guide comprises two parts.
- the first part which is transparent
- the second part which is transparent and comprises a colorant.
- the second part emits the light in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 565 nm or a narrower range from this interval.
- a narrower range is preferably the wavelength range from 450nm to 500nm, which corresponds to the colors blue to cyan.
- the wavelength range can be from 380nm to 450nm (violet), from 450nm to 485nm (blue), from 485nm to 500nm (cyan), from 500nm to 565nm (green).
- the individual wavelength ranges or colors mentioned can be combined.
- the first part of the light guide is semi-transparent.
- the semi-transparency of the first part of the light guide allows the light to pass through to the second part of the light guide when the light sources are switched on.
- the semi-transparent first part of the light guide supports the intensity of the emitted (reflected) light from the second part of the light guide, i.e. colored light in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 565 nm.
- the first part of the light guide is then preferably made of a material with a refractive index of 1.4 to 1.8, which can be a polycarbonate material, for example.
- the first embodiment of the headlight for vehicles which comprises a rear headlight cover and a translucent front headlight cover 6.
- the covers are connected to one another and close off the headlight space in order to prevent dirt, moisture and possibly objects from entering the headlight space.
- the sleeve 9 which consists of several parts.
- the sleeve 9 comprises a base to which a light source 1 is attached. Several light sources 1 can also be attached to the base.
- the LED or OLED is preferably used as the light source 1 or light sources 1.
- the sleeve 9 also has a translucent optical element 10 , which is opposite the base. This translucent optical element 10 is, for example, a lens.
- the sleeve 9 comprises the casing 8 of the sleeve 9 , which is opaque.
- the casing 8 of the sleeve 9 has an opening 5 .
- the opening 5 in the casing 8 of the sleeve 9 is preferably designed such that it extends from the base to the upper edge of the casing 8 of the sleeve 9 .
- the light source 1 arranged in the rear area of the headlight is preferably mounted on a circuit board. Outside the base of the sleeve 9 there is a cooler which dissipates the excess heat from the light source 1 or the light sources 1 .
- the headlight further comprises a light guide 7 which at least partially rests against the casing 8 of the sleeve 9.
- the light guide 7 is arranged such that it rests against the casing 8 of the sleeve 9 in the area where the opening 5 is formed.
- the light guide 7 can be designed in various shapes. However, it always has an entry surface which covers the opening 5 in the casing 8 of the sleeve 9. Most often it is a contour which copies a part of the casing 8 of the sleeve 9 , but it can also be two interconnected planar surfaces, surfaces with curvature, a planar surface and the like.
- the light guide 7 can be flat, ie a thin light guide 7 with an approximately flat or curved contour.
- a light guide 7 is shown, for example, in Fig.6 where a light guide 7 with two planar surfaces that enclose an angle of less than 180° is shown. These two surfaces serve as entry surfaces and lie against the opening 5 of the casing 8 of the sleeve 9.
- the light from the headlight is deflected outwards at the edge of the light guide 7.
- the edge can have deflection elements such as surface coating, projections, grooves or roughened edge surfaces.
- structural deflection elements can also be located in the space of the light guide 7 .
- the shape of the light guide 7 can also be more complicated, as for example in the light guide 7 in Fig.5 .
- a two-part light guide 7 is shown here.
- the shape of the light guide 7 in the figure includes an entrance surface, which is on the right in the image view and rests against the opening 5 in the jacket 8 of the sleeve 9. Furthermore, the light guide 7 creates a closed loop in section, which encloses the sleeve 9 , for example.
- the light guide 7 is designed in this example for deflecting the light from several surfaces, in Fig.7 These are shown hatched. The light deflection does not have to take place on the light guide 7 , ie on the entire outer circumference of the light guide 7 (ie the one facing the translucent headlight cover 6 ). The selection of the locations at which the light will emerge is influenced by the desired resulting light effect of the respective headlight.
- the light source 1 or light sources 1 generate light rays which are Fig.1 are indicated by a dashed line.
- Fig.1 the light rays pass through the sleeve 9 , some fall directly from the light source 1 onto the light-transmitting optical element 10 of the sleeve 9 , some strike the jacket 8 of the sleeve 9 , from which they are reflected until they fall onto the light-transmitting optical element 10 of the sleeve 9 or through the Opening 5 pass through, some fall directly into the opening 5.
- the light rays can also reach this opening 5 directly without reflections.
- parasitic light Those light rays which fall through reflection from the casing 8 of the sleeve 9 or partial reflection from the light-permeable optical element 10 of the sleeve 9 or directly into the opening 5 in the casing 8 of the sleeve 9 are referred to below as parasitic light.
- the casing 8 of the sleeve 9 preferably consists, at least on the inside, of black plastic material that reflects the light rays.
- the opening 5 in the sleeve 9 is preferably located on the side of the headlight that is closer to the outer headlight cover 6 or on the side that is further away from the engine of the vehicle, such as the Fig.1 shows.
- This parasitic light is generated when the low beam function is used. Parasitic light is also generated in the high beam mode, i.e. in operating modes in which light source 1 is switched on.
- Parasitic light hits the entrance surface of the light guide 7 after passing through the opening 5.
- the light rays are distributed over the entire surface of the light guide 7 of the internal structure of the polycarbonate material, which allows the light rays to be evenly distributed so that the appearance of the light is as stable and attractive as possible for the user and the environment.
- the actual light exit from the light guide 7 is carried out, for example, by the surface coating mentioned at the beginning.
- the light guide 7 consists of several parts.
- the first part 3 of the light guide 7 is translucent and does not contain any colorant.
- the second part 4 of the light guide 7 contains a colorant in its material.
- the second part 4 of the light guide 7 emits light in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 565 nm or a narrower range from this interval.
- a narrower range is preferably the wavelength range from 450 nm to 500 nm, which corresponds to the colors blue to cyan.
- the wavelength range can be from 380 nm to 450 nm (violet), from 450 nm to 485 nm (blue), from 485 nm to 500 nm (cyan), from 500 nm to 565 nm (green).
- the individual wavelength ranges or colors mentioned can be combined. This creates the desired optical effect, which can distinguish the light emitted by the light guide from the light emitted by the vehicle, for example the light emitted by the headlight tube.
- the colorant is for example, the addition of pigments in the material of the light guide, the plastic, preferably polycarbonate, preferably polymethyl methacrylate.
- Organic or inorganic compounds can be used as pigments, for example, the compounds of phthalocyanine, anthraquinone can be used to achieve a blue or green color, cadmium compounds can be used for yellow color.
- the first part 3 of the light guide 7 is located near the opening 5 and forms the entrance surface of the light guide 7.
- the second part 4 of the light guide 7 is connected to the first part 3 of the light guide 7 and the light rays pass through the first part 3 of the light guide 7 to the second part 4 of the light guide 7.
- the light rays are distributed over the entire surface of the first part 3 of the light guide 7 and over the entire surface of the second part 4 of the light guide 7.
- the first part 3 of the light guide 7 is connected directly to the second part 4 of the light guide 7 and they are preferably connected to one another in a dismantled manner.
- the first part 3 of the light guide 7 supports the daytime appearance of the light guide 7 and highlights its color (i.e. the color of the second part 4 of the light guide 7 ).
- the daytime appearance is formed by the light guide 7 by the incidence of external light, i.e. when the light source 1 is switched off. In this case, starlight, such as sunlight, ambient light from the environment or light from other light sources, falls on the light guide 7.
- the incident light can fall directly on the second part 4 of the light guide 7 or on the first part 3 of the light guide 7 , or it can be light that falls from outside on the light-transmitting optical element 10 of the sleeve 9.
- the light rays fall either directly or by reflection on the first part 3 of the light guide 7 after they have passed through the opening 5 in the casing 8 of the sleeve 9 .
- the second part of the light guide 7 would appear less pronounced and would not be as attractive.
- the first part 3 of the light guide 7 is semi-transparent.
- the semi-transparency of the first part 3 of the light guide 7 allows the light to pass through towards the second part 4 of the light guide 7 when the light sources 1 are switched on.
- the semi-transparent first part 3 of the light guide 7 supports the intensity of the emitted (reflected) light from the second part 4 of the Light guide 7 , i.e. the colored light in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 565 nm.
- the first part 3 of the light guide 7 is then advantageously made of a material with a refractive index of 1.4 to 1.8, which can be a polycarbonate material, for example.
- the first part 3 of the light guide 7 and the second part 4 of the light guide 7 take a position around the sleeve 9 as shown in the Fig.1 , 2 and 3 They consist of a complex design that ensures the attractiveness of the appearance during the day and night mode of lighting.
- the Figures 1 to 4 also show the cover elements 11 of the light guide 7 , which cover the first part 3 of the light guide 7. This prevents the view from the outside of the first part 3 of the light guide 7, from which the light is deflected in the larger wavelength range than from the second part 4 of the light guide 7 .
- the second part 4 of the light guide 7 which is in the Figures 2 to 5 , includes a projecting linear section of 10 to 35 cm in length, which is oriented from the end of the light guide 7 closer to the rear of the motor vehicle against the direction of travel of the motor vehicle.
- the linear section is inserted into the grooves of the first part 3 of the light guide 7 and together they form a component.
- the second part 4 of the light guide 7 has an approximately round shape around the entire sleeve 9 . While the first part 3 of the light guide 7 is only included on the side of the sleeve 9 on which the opening 5 is located.
- On the top and bottom of the light guide 7 there are clamping grooves which attach the light guide 7 to the headlight and to the rear cover of the headlight.
- the Fig.2 shows the headlight in section, where the light source 1 or light sources 1 are arranged on the circuit board in the rear area, which is located on the radiator.
- the device described above is used to make the appearance of the vehicle more attractive during the night lighting mode, when the contours of the color cover are visible. This color cover is also visible during daytime running lights. However, in night mode, parasitic rays are used to make the appearance more attractive, passing through the opening in the sleeve. This method is used in the production of premium vehicles.
- This option of using colored covers for a more attractive appearance can also be used for tail lights. As an option to highlight the red hazard lights.

Description
The technical solution concerns the area of deflection of light rays from the light source of the vehicle's headlight into the opening in the sleeve, with the light rays then passing through the plastic covers, from which the light rays are reflected over the entire surface, thus creating an attractive appearance of the vehicle.
Currently, the headlights use an LED or OLED light source that emits light beams that are reflected by the reflector, forming the desired light beams in certain light modes where the beams only pass through the front transparent headlight cover. This solution is unsuitable due to the insufficient attractiveness of the vehicle's appearance.
The object is achieved by a headlight for vehicles, comprising a rear headlight cover and a translucent front headlight cover, a light guide and a sleeve, wherein the sleeve has a base with an attached light source, a translucent optical element opposite the base and an opaque cover of the sleeve arranged between the optical element and the base, which forms the sleeve casing. The light guide rests against the opaque cover of the sleeve at least at one point. The opaque sleeve cover has an opening, wherein the light guide rests against the opaque sleeve cover in the area where the opening is formed. This opening makes it possible to use the light rays emitted by the light source and incident in the area of the opening (parasitic light) to illuminate the light guide.
It is advantageous for the light guide to include a colorant. The light guide emits light in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 565 nm or a narrower range from this interval. A narrower range is preferably the wavelength range from 450 nm to 500 nm, which corresponds to the colors blue to cyan. Alternatively, the wavelength range can be 380 nm to 450 nm (violet), 450 nm to 485 nm (blue), 485 nm to 500 nm (cyan), 500 nm to 565 nm (green). The individual wavelength ranges or colors mentioned can be combined. This achieves the desired optical effect, which can distinguish the light emitted by the light guide from the light emitted by the vehicle, for example the light emerging from the headlight tube.
It is also advantageous if the light guide comprises two parts. The first part, which is transparent, and the second part, which is transparent and comprises a colorant. The second part emits the light in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 565 nm or a narrower range from this interval. A narrower range is preferably the wavelength range from 450nm to 500nm, which corresponds to the colors blue to cyan. Alternatively, the wavelength range can be from 380nm to 450nm (violet), from 450nm to 485nm (blue), from 485nm to 500nm (cyan), from 500nm to 565nm (green). The individual wavelength ranges or colors mentioned can be combined. By assembling a light guide from two parts with the mentioned emitted spectrum, the light effect of the second part of the light guide is emphasized.
It is also preferred that the first part of the light guide is semi-transparent. The semi-transparency of the first part of the light guide allows the light to pass through to the second part of the light guide when the light sources are switched on. When the light sources are not switched on and external light falls on the light guide, the semi-transparent first part of the light guide supports the intensity of the emitted (reflected) light from the second part of the light guide, i.e. colored light in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 565 nm. The first part of the light guide is then preferably made of a material with a refractive index of 1.4 to 1.8, which can be a polycarbonate material, for example.

In the following, the invention is explained using the embodiments shown in the figures.
The first embodiment of the headlight for vehicles, which comprises a rear headlight cover and a translucent
The

This parasitic light is generated when the low beam function is used. Parasitic light is also generated in the high beam mode, i.e. in operating modes in which
Parasitic light hits the entrance surface of the
In one embodiment, the
The
The
It is preferred that the

The device described above is used to make the appearance of the vehicle more attractive during the night lighting mode, when the contours of the color cover are visible. This color cover is also visible during daytime running lights. However, in night mode, parasitic rays are used to make the appearance more attractive, passing through the opening in the sleeve. This method is used in the production of premium vehicles.
This option of using colored covers for a more attractive appearance can also be used for tail lights. As an option to highlight the red hazard lights.
