Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for monitoring the condition of a rolling stand for rolling rolling stock.
- the method according to the invention is used, for example, in finishing stands of hot strip mills, in rolling stands of cold rolling mills, in Steckel rolling stands, in roughing stands and sheet metal stands and generally in rolling stands with at least one pair of rolls, typically consisting of a work roll and a support roll supporting the work roll.
- the invention is based on the object of developing a known method and computer program for monitoring the condition of a roll stand in such a way that a defective condition of the roll stand can be detected reliably and quickly even when pairs of rolls are only used temporarily.
- the first “roller pair operating time” means the operating time of the first pair of rollers in the roll stand.
- the second “roller pair operating time” means the operating time for the second pair of rollers in the roll stand.
- the two operating times are different. An overlap in operating times is excluded, because the first and second pairs of rollers have a common roller that can only be operated with one other roller at a time.
- different roll means that roll of the first pair of rolls that the first roll stand does not have in common with the second roll stand. This applies analogously to the different rolls of the second roll stand.
- a range of values for the evaluation of the roll pair-dependent roll stand parameters can be limited by an upper and a lower threshold value or by only one threshold value.
- the statement “above a threshold value” defines a range of values. All values that are above the threshold value are then within the value range. Outside the value range, all values are then below the threshold value.
- the claimed method considers at least one roll pair-dependent roll stand parameter for at least two different ones Pairs of rolls that are operated at different times in the roll stand and where the two pairs of rolls have a common roll and each have a different roll.
- the evaluation of these roll stand parameters makes it easier for experts to find the causes of rolling problems. In particular, the identification of a faulty rolling stand of a multi-stand finishing rolling train is made easier.
- the results of the method according to the invention when evaluating the determined roll stand parameters must preferably be supported by a stand measurement in order to determine, for example, the exact location of a wear plate underlay and the underlay dimension in the desired improvement of the stand condition.
- unnecessary measurements can be avoided when using the method according to the invention, which, as mentioned, saves downtime of the roll stand. Time-consuming measurements are therefore advantageously carried out much less frequently.
- a roll can, for example, be identified as having a problem if a roll stand parameter in question lies within or outside the value range.
- roll stand parameters mentioned are suitable as roll stand parameters both individually and in mathematical or physical combination. It is important that in each run of the method according to the invention the same roll stand parameter or the same combination of roll stand parameters is used for the two pairs of rolls.
- the roll stand parameters are not only determined at a specific point in time, but the parameters are mean values that represent the time course of the roll stand parameter during one or more time intervals, i.e. during roll operating times.
- the detection of the roll stand parameter during one or more time intervals advantageously makes it possible for the history of the roll stand parameter to be interpretable.
- This has the advantage that a gradual deterioration of a roll stand parameter can be attributed to wear that progresses over time, while an abrupt change suggests sudden damage or an incorrectly carried out maintenance measure.
- the cause of a poor scaffolding condition can therefore be identified more accurately and a suitable corrective measure can be quickly defined and implemented. Long troubleshooting times, during which there is no worsening of the rolling stand condition can be stopped and result in the production of low-quality tapes are avoided.
- roller pair basically refers to any combination of rollers in a roll stand.
- the pairs of rollers according to the invention can be installed in the rolling stand either as upper pairs of rollers, i.e. above the rolling stock to be rolled, or as lower pairs of rollers, i.e. on the underside of the rolling stock to be rolled.
- the only decisive factor is that the pairs that are exchanged for one another when using the method according to the invention are each inserted into the same position in the roll stand; This is necessary so that the process data that is determined during the two operating times of the two pairs of rolls in the roll stand can be objectively compared with one another.
- the above-mentioned object of the invention is finally achieved by the computer program according to claim 16.
- the implementation of the method according to the invention in a computer program and its execution in a computer advantageously enable the automation of the method according to the invention. Automation eliminates the need for lengthy manual search work and error diagnosis can advantageously be carried out quickly and efficiently.
- FIG. 1 shows a classic roll stand 100, how its condition and suitability can be examined using the method according to the invention.
- a roll stand consists of two opposite roll stands 110, one of these roll stands being the drive side and the opposite roll stand being the operating side of the Roll stand represents.
- Each of the two roll stands 110 has a stand window in which the rolls 1 and A, B are rotatably mounted with their roll necks in chocks E1 - E4.
- the chocks correspond to the bearing housings in which the rollers are rotatably mounted with their journals.
- the rolls 1 refer to the so-called work rolls.
- the work rolls are mounted at a distance from one another and their distance creates a roll gap.
- the rolling stock 20 When passing through the roll gap, the rolling stock 20 is rolled; the upper and lower work rolls then carry out rolling work on the rolling stock 20.
- the work rolls 1 are each supported by support rolls A, B.
- an upper pair of rolls consisting of an upper support roll and an upper work roll as well as a lower pair of rolls consisting of a lower work roll and lower support roll can be seen.
- a rolling force is transmitted to the chocks in the direction of the arrows shown and via the chocks to the rollers and via the rollers to the rolling stock 20.
- the method according to the invention aims to monitor the condition of the roll stand and the rolls and to detect possible errors at an early stage in order to be able to correct them as quickly as possible. Possible errors include, for example, undesirable inclinations of the rollers in a pair of rollers or too high a coefficient of friction during the vertical movement of the chocks in the roller stands.
- Figure 2 illustrates the first problem mentioned:
- the undesirable setting angle ⁇ can be seen between a work roll 1 and a support roll A arranged above it, which together form an upper pair of rolls.
- the offset shown between the two rollers can also be defined via the offset of the chocks involved on the operating side or on the drive side; then it is referred to as chock offset ⁇ x.
- the two problem cases mentioned, namely roll misalignment and excessive friction, are examples of the roll stand parameter as evaluated in the method according to the invention.
- the basis for the method according to the invention is the detection of these roll stand parameters K in the limit case at one point in time, but typically and preferably during one or more time intervals.
- Figure 3 shows an example of recording the time course of the roll stand parameter "Chock offset in mm" for different pairs of rolls, each inserted into the same roll stand at different roll pair operating times.
- the (insertion) component offset is plotted over time.
- the column shown represents a specific reel pair usage time for a specific reel pair, which is identified by the two three-digit numbers at the top left of each column.
- a first pair of rolls with rolls 252+218 and a second pair of rolls with rolls 247+239 were used alternately in the same roll stand.
- Figure 4a shows a first constellation in which the roll stand parameter K1 for the first pair of rolls A1 lies within and the roll stand parameter K2 for the second pair of rolls B1 lies outside a predetermined value range W.
- the value range W is in Figure 4a marked as above a predetermined lower threshold value S u and below an upper threshold value S o .
- the support roller A can typically be identified as faulty.
- the method according to the invention then provides in a subsequent method step that suitable measures are taken to positively influence the corresponding roll stand parameter K1. If the roll stand parameter K1 is, for example, the set angle, this can usually be remedied by placing or replacing wear plates on the chocks of the support roll A, so that the set angle is reduced again to the target 0.
- the method according to the invention allows the support roll A to be identified as having problems at a very early point in time, at which, as a rule, no quality-relevant disadvantages have yet occurred in the rolling stock or in the rolling process and at which, as a rule, no component damage has occurred on the rolling stand , which would otherwise lead to longer downtimes of the rolling stand. Because exactly the backup roll A was identified as defective here, a defect on the backup roll B of the second pair of rolls or on the work rolls of the two pairs of rolls or on the roll stand can be ruled out at the same time. On these Objects therefore do not need to be troubleshooted, which would otherwise result in undesirable downtime of the rolling stand.
- the backup roll A would also have been identified as faulty because the roll stand parameter K would have been outside the value range in this case.
- the definition of the value range is always important. It can also, as an example illustrates, be the reverse of the original definition.
- Figure 4b shows a second possible constellation for the values K1, K2 of the roll stand parameter K for the two pairs of rolls A1 and B1.
- This second constellation is analogous to the first constellation according to 4a to be evaluated with the result that the support roller B can be identified as problematic here.
- the statements for the support roller A and suitable countermeasures now apply analogously to the support roller B.
- Figure 4c shows a third possible constellation for the roll stand parameter K for the two pairs of rolls A1 and B1, each recorded during the roll pair operating times t1 and t2.
- this third constellation it can be determined that both the roll stand parameter K1 for the first pair of rolls A1 and also the roll stand parameter K2 for the second pair of rolls B1 are each outside the predetermined value range W.
- the two parameters K1, K2 have no significant expression; in fact, they are both essentially zero. This means that neither one of the involved rolls A1, B1 of the first or second roll stand nor the roll stand itself is problematic. Therefore, no countermeasures are required in this case.
- Figure 4d finally shows a further constellation for the possible expression of the first two roll stand parameters K1 and for the second roll stand parameter K2.
- the two roll stand parameters K1, K2 lie within a defined value range W. This constellation allows the result that either the common roll 1 or the roll stand is problematic.
- the Figures 5a and 5b show a first possibility for further localizing the defective object by repeating the method according to the invention with the pair of rollers A1 and a new third pair of rollers A2.
- the third pair of rollers A2 consists, on the one hand, of the different roller A of the previous pair of rollers A1, B1 and of a third roller 2, which was neither part of the first nor the second pair of rollers.
- Process steps a) to d) of the method according to the invention are then repeated for the first pair of rollers A1 and the third pair of rollers A2 formed in this way.
- the end result can then be in the Figures 5a) and 5b ) shown constellations for the roll pair-dependent roll stand parameters K1 and K3 result.
- Figure 5b shows an alternative possible configuration when running through the method according to the invention with the first pair of rollers A1 and the third pair of rollers A2.
- the two parameters K1 and K3 are both within the specified value range W. From this it can be concluded that the cause of a detected roll problem does not lie in one of the rolls, but in the roll stand itself. In this case, measures must be taken that positively influence the associated roll stand parameters K1 and K3 and thus the stand condition.
- the problem-prone roll stand can be remedied by placing underlay or replacing stand wear plates. For this purpose, an additional scaffold measurement is usually required. A downtime of the rolling stand is to be expected both for the corrective measures to be taken and for any additional stand measurement that may be required.
- the Figures 6a and 6b show a second alternative approach to isolating either the work roll or the roll stand as problematic.
- This second method differs from the first alternative as described in the Figures 5a and 5b is shown, only in the choice of the two pairs of rollers with which the repetition of the method according to the invention is carried out.
- the second alternative specifically provides for considering not the first, but the second pair of rollers B1 in comparison to a fourth pair of rollers B4, consisting of the different roller B, the second pair of rollers B1 and a fourth roller 4, which is neither part of the first nor of the second pair of rollers.
- the evaluation of the Figure 6a results analogously to that Figure 5a
- the result is that the work roll 1 and not the roll stand is also identified as having a problem.
- the evaluation provides analogous results in 6b the result is that it is not the work roll 1 but the roll stand that is problematic. Please refer to the previous statements regarding suitable countermeasures.
- roll pair-dependent roll stand parameters can be considered as roll pair-dependent roll stand parameters, even in combination.
- the set angle ⁇ as a rolling stand parameter has already been mentioned in detail above.
- the axial forces on the two rollers of the respective pair of rollers can also be used as a parameter.
- the coefficient of friction should be mentioned as a roll stand parameter, which represents the friction of the chocks of the roll pair during a vertical movement within the roll stand.
- the process data mentioned in the method according to the invention are determined for the pairs of rolls involved during rolling operation. If a roll stand parameter can be measured directly, such as the offset of the chocks or the magnitude of the axial forces, then the process data is equivalent to the roll stand parameters. However, a roll stand parameter can also be derived from measured process data: For example, the set angle ⁇ can be derived as a roll stand parameter from the directly measured axial forces with the help of physical calculations.
- Frictional forces can occur in the roll stand between moving components, for example between the roll stand 110 and the chocks E1 to E4 of the rolls. If these friction forces are too high, regulations are impaired and there is a risk that the rolling stock will be produced with reduced quality.
- a stand assistant estimates the friction in the roll stand during loading and unloading processes that occur after the rolls have been inserted usually occur. The friction on the upper and lower pair of rollers can be resolved - separately for the drive and operating stand. The results are plotted over time, analogous to Figure 3 for the roll stand parameter, there was an offset of chocks. A development of friction forces over time can be recognized in this way.
- the setting angle is comparable when carrying out the method according to the invention as in Figures 4-6 illustrated, it is possible to assign the undesirable friction forces to the rollers with which they were determined.
- the wear plates of the associated chock must be examined and, if necessary, replaced as a remedial measure. If at least one of the chocks is too wide, it can get stuck in the stand window and be the cause of the friction found. The corresponding distance or width must then be reduced in accordance with regulations. If, on the other hand, the cause of an excessively high coefficient of friction is assigned to the roll stand after carrying out the method according to the invention, all elements involved in vertical movements, ie for example balancers and bending cylinders, must be checked with regard to low-friction function and, if necessary, repaired. Clamping of chocks in the stand windows in which rollers are rotatably mounted due to a stand window that is too narrow must be prevented. If necessary, wear plates must again be processed or replaced.

Description
The invention relates to a method for monitoring the condition of a rolling stand for rolling rolling stock. The method according to the invention is used, for example, in finishing stands of hot strip mills, in rolling stands of cold rolling mills, in Steckel rolling stands, in roughing stands and sheet metal stands and generally in rolling stands with at least one pair of rolls, typically consisting of a work roll and a support roll supporting the work roll.
- Die Analyse von Axialkräften der Arbeitswalzen, abgeleitet aus den Brücken eines Arbeitswalzen-Verschiebesystems;
- Die Auswertung der Gerüsthysterese. Dabei erfolgt ein Vergleich der Anstellkräfte, einmal gemessen in den Anstellzylindern und zusätzlich gemessen über Kraftmesszellen in den Walzenständern, jeweils beim Auf- und Zufahren des Walzgerüstes während eines definierten Be- und Entlastungs-vorganges;
- The analysis of axial forces of the work rolls, derived from the bridges of a work roll displacement system;
- The evaluation of the framework hysteresis. A comparison of the adjusting forces is carried out, measured once in the adjusting cylinders and additionally measured via load cells in the roll stands, in each case during opening. and closing the rolling stand during a defined loading and unloading process;
- The determination of geometrically possible positions of a pair of rollers relative to one another from geometric measurements of the contact surfaces of the roller chocks in the stand window, for example with the help of a laser scanner. Such a measurement takes a considerable amount of time and therefore results in loss of production.
However, all of these methods for monitoring a roll stand mentioned and known in the prior art have disadvantages. The above-mentioned manual analysis of the state of the framework is time-consuming when there are disruptions to the rolling process. It is often difficult to assign the symptoms that occur to the cause in a rolling stand of a multi-stand finishing mill. Due to the aforementioned large amount of time, manual analyzes can usually only cover a short period of operation of the rolling stands under consideration. The causes of process disruptions, on the other hand, sometimes only occur temporarily:
As a result of the regular changes of work and backup rolls, the roll stand system, consisting of the main components work rolls and backup rolls with their respective chocks in the roll stands, is constantly changing. In practice, a forward-looking analysis of the condition of the roll stand is usually not carried out, also due to the high amount of time required. The condition of the system often deteriorates until thin strips or Strips with high steel quality can no longer be produced to a high quality. In some cases, poor condition of the rolling stand is only recognized when component damage occurs.
The invention is based on the object of developing a known method and computer program for monitoring the condition of a roll stand in such a way that a defective condition of the roll stand can be detected reliably and quickly even when pairs of rolls are only used temporarily.
This task is solved by the method claimed in
The first “roller pair operating time” means the operating time of the first pair of rollers in the roll stand. The second “roller pair operating time” means the operating time for the second pair of rollers in the roll stand. The two operating times are different. An overlap in operating times is excluded, because the first and second pairs of rollers have a common roller that can only be operated with one other roller at a time.
The term “different roll” means that roll of the first pair of rolls that the first roll stand does not have in common with the second roll stand. This applies analogously to the different rolls of the second roll stand.
A range of values for the evaluation of the roll pair-dependent roll stand parameters can be limited by an upper and a lower threshold value or by only one threshold value. The statement “above a threshold value” defines a range of values. All values that are above the threshold value are then within the value range. Outside the value range, all values are then below the threshold value.
In the dependent claims z. T. different examples of the roll stand parameter K are claimed. The actually independent parameters can also be used in combination with each other; therefore, these claims are also claimed to be interdependent. The claimed method advantageously offers great help to the plant operator or the maintainer of a rolling stand in keeping a rolling stand or a rolling train in good condition, thereby maximizing the production time and the quality of the rolled stock. In other words, this means that the method according to the invention contributes more advantageously to minimizing downtimes of the rolling stand and also to minimizing the production of strips with poor quality, for example due to poor thickness, profile or flatness properties. To achieve this purpose, the claimed method considers at least one roll pair-dependent roll stand parameter for at least two different ones Pairs of rolls that are operated at different times in the roll stand and where the two pairs of rolls have a common roll and each have a different roll. The evaluation of these roll stand parameters makes it easier for experts to find the causes of rolling problems. In particular, the identification of a faulty rolling stand of a multi-stand finishing rolling train is made easier. It cannot be ruled out that the results of the method according to the invention when evaluating the determined roll stand parameters must preferably be supported by a stand measurement in order to determine, for example, the exact location of a wear plate underlay and the underlay dimension in the desired improvement of the stand condition. However, unnecessary measurements can be avoided when using the method according to the invention, which, as mentioned, saves downtime of the roll stand. Time-consuming measurements are therefore advantageously carried out much less frequently.
The claimed operation of the roll stand with two different pairs of rollers exchanged for one another, the two pairs of rollers having a common roller and each having a different roller, advantageously enables a possible error to be specifically limited when using the method according to the invention. With the evaluation methods claimed in claims 2 and 3, either the different roller of the first pair of rollers or the different roller of the 2nd pair of rollers can be identified as problematic or as the cause of rolling problems that occur.
With the evaluation according to claim 4 it can advantageously be determined that the cause of a rolling problem can lie neither in one of the rolls of the roll pairs nor in the roll stand itself. This means: The rolling stand and its replaceable pairs of rollers are error-free.
Finally, according to a fourth evaluation example according to claim 5, it can be determined that either the common roll or the roll stand is the cause of faulty rolling.
By using the method according to the invention once and by logically evaluating its results, one of the evaluation examples mentioned results. Only to further narrow down the result of the fourth evaluation example does it require a further run through of the method according to the invention and a new logic-based evaluation of its new results in order to be able to decide whether the sought error is due to problematic rolling in the common roll or the roll stand lies. This further run and the evaluation of its results are the subject of dependent claims 6 and 7. The two methods according to claims 6 and 7 are alternatives, each of which ultimately leads to the same result. The only difference between the two alternative methods is the composition of the pairs of rolls with which the roll stand must be operated again in order to enable the desired limitation to the common roll or the roll stand as the cause of the error in the problem-prone rolling. The expression "and vice versa" at the end of the claimed evaluation method is intended to cover the cases in which the range of values for a specific rolling parameter is defined as complementary to the range of values claimed in each case. Depending on the location or definition of the value range, a roll can, for example, be identified as having a problem if a roll stand parameter in question lies within or outside the value range.
- The axial forces on the two rollers of a respective pair of rollers, and/or
- A coefficient of friction that represents the friction of the chocks of the pair of rolls during a vertical movement in the stands of the roll stand.
All of the roll stand parameters mentioned are suitable as roll stand parameters both individually and in mathematical or physical combination. It is important that in each run of the method according to the invention the same roll stand parameter or the same combination of roll stand parameters is used for the two pairs of rolls.
Preferably, the roll stand parameters are not only determined at a specific point in time, but the parameters are mean values that represent the time course of the roll stand parameter during one or more time intervals, i.e. during roll operating times.
The detection of the roll stand parameter during one or more time intervals advantageously makes it possible for the history of the roll stand parameter to be interpretable. This has the advantage that a gradual deterioration of a roll stand parameter can be attributed to wear that progresses over time, while an abrupt change suggests sudden damage or an incorrectly carried out maintenance measure. The cause of a poor scaffolding condition can therefore be identified more accurately and a suitable corrective measure can be quickly defined and implemented. Long troubleshooting times, during which there is no worsening of the rolling stand condition can be stopped and result in the production of low-quality tapes are avoided.
The rolls of a respective pair of rolls are typically a work roll and an associated backup roll that supports the work roll. However, such a pairing of rollers is not mandatory; Rather, the term roller pair basically refers to any combination of rollers in a roll stand.
The pairs of rollers according to the invention can be installed in the rolling stand either as upper pairs of rollers, i.e. above the rolling stock to be rolled, or as lower pairs of rollers, i.e. on the underside of the rolling stock to be rolled. The only decisive factor is that the pairs that are exchanged for one another when using the method according to the invention are each inserted into the same position in the roll stand; This is necessary so that the process data that is determined during the two operating times of the two pairs of rolls in the roll stand can be objectively compared with one another.
The above-mentioned object of the invention is finally achieved by the computer program according to claim 16. The implementation of the method according to the invention in a computer program and its execution in a computer advantageously enable the automation of the method according to the invention. Automation eliminates the need for lengthy manual search work and error diagnosis can advantageously be carried out quickly and efficiently.
Otherwise, the advantages of the computer program correspond to the advantages mentioned above with regard to the claimed method.

The invention is described in detail below with reference to the figures mentioned in the form of exemplary embodiments. In all figures, the same technical elements are designated with the same reference numbers.
The method according to the invention aims to monitor the condition of the roll stand and the rolls and to detect possible errors at an early stage in order to be able to correct them as quickly as possible. Possible errors include, for example, undesirable inclinations of the rollers in a pair of rollers or too high a coefficient of friction during the vertical movement of the chocks in the roller stands.
The two problem cases mentioned, namely roll misalignment and excessive friction, are examples of the roll stand parameter as evaluated in the method according to the invention. The basis for the method according to the invention is the detection of these roll stand parameters K in the limit case at one point in time, but typically and preferably during one or more time intervals.
- a) Operating the roll stand 100 in a rolling operation with a first pair of rolls A1 and determining process data for the first pair of rolls during at least a first roll pair operating time t1 during the rolling operation. For example, in reference numeral A1, A denotes a backup roll and 1 denotes a work roll; please refer
Fig. 1 - b) The same roll stand is then operated with a second pair of rollers B1 instead of the first pair of rollers A1 and process data for the second pair of rollers B1 is determined during at least a second pair of roller pairs operating time t2 during rolling operation. The second pair of rollers has the
roller 1 in common with the first pair of rollers A1 and, in addition, each of the two pairs of rollers has a different roller A, B. In the reference number B1, for example, B denotes a support roll and 1 a work roll; please referFig. 1 - c) In a next step c), the roll pair-dependent roll stand parameters K1, K2 are determined for the first pair of rolls A1 and for the second pair of rolls B1, each based on process data.
- d) Finally, the method according to the invention provides that in a further step d) the roller pair-dependent parameters K1, K2 for the first and second roller pairs A1, B1 are evaluated with regard to whether either one of the different rollers A, B of the two Pairs of rolls or whether the
common roll 1 and/or the roll stand itself are problematic. This evaluation is described below with reference to theFigures 4 and5 explains:

Various physical variables can be considered as roll pair-dependent roll stand parameters, even in combination. The set angle α as a rolling stand parameter has already been mentioned in detail above. The same applies to the chock offset Δx, which also represents the setting of the two rollers of a pair of rollers. In addition, the axial forces on the two rollers of the respective pair of rollers can also be used as a parameter. Finally, the coefficient of friction should be mentioned as a roll stand parameter, which represents the friction of the chocks of the roll pair during a vertical movement within the roll stand.
The process data mentioned in the method according to the invention are determined for the pairs of rolls involved during rolling operation. If a roll stand parameter can be measured directly, such as the offset of the chocks or the magnitude of the axial forces, then the process data is equivalent to the roll stand parameters. However, a roll stand parameter can also be derived from measured process data: For example, the set angle α can be derived as a roll stand parameter from the directly measured axial forces with the help of physical calculations.
If the coefficient of friction is determined to be too high using the method according to the invention, the wear plates of the associated chock must be examined and, if necessary, replaced as a remedial measure.
