Definitions
- the present invention relates to a mold for permanent mold casting. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for producing a mold for permanent mold casting and a method for permanent mold casting of components.
- Molds for chill casting are known, with a chill mold being used as a permanent mold.
- the mold determines the shape of the component to be cast. If components with undercuts and/or cavities are to be cast, the use of casting cores, which can be made of sand, for example, is also known. Alternatively or additionally, molds with slides are used. Such a slide is pulled out of the undercut or cavity after the component has solidified, so that the component can be demoulded.
- the molds usually require a very complex and cost-intensive manufacture, since in particular for components with different geometries, different molds that have been adapted accordingly are required.
- the object is achieved by a casting mold according to claim 1, by a method for producing a casting mold according to claim 10, and by a method for permanent mold casting according to claim 14.
- the casting mold according to the invention comprises a permanent mold and an insert.
- the insert is arranged inside the mold.
- the insert and a partial area of the permanent mold jointly shape an outer contour of a component to be cast by means of the casting mold.
- the casting mold is designed in two parts with the mold and with the additional insert part, which is arranged in the mold.
- Mold and insert are preferably connected to one another, in particular so that the insert is immovably attached to the mold.
- the insert part determines part of the outer contour of the component to be cast. The remaining part of the outer contour of the component to be cast is determined by the mold.
- the insert is preferably responsible for shaping at least 50%, preferably at least 70%, of the outer contour of the component to be cast.
- a surface of the component to be cast that is accessible from the outside is considered to be the outer contour of the component to be cast.
- the outer contour preferably defines maximum outer dimensions of the component to be cast.
- the component to be cast can additionally have an inner contour which has a cavity in the component to be cast, ie an inner contour which is not accessible from the outside.
- the casting mold according to the invention offers the advantage that it can be produced in a particularly simple and cost-effective manner and can be used in a simple and cost-effective manner for casting components of different geometries. Due to the fact that the insert is used in the mold, which is partly responsible for the shape of the outer contour of the component to be cast, a mold with a simple geometry that can be produced cost-effectively can also be used for complex component geometries. For example, a mold with a simple trough shape, preferably with a cuboid casting cavity, can be used. Areas of the component to be cast with a more complex external geometry can be represented by the insert. This has the advantage that the insert can be manufactured separately from the mold. For example, cost-effective methods for producing the insert can thus be used.
- the casting mold can be easily adapted to different geometries of the components to be cast by using a different insert part with the same mold geometry.
- the casting mold is therefore also suitable in particular for the production of small series components with high flexibility of the component geometry and low costs per component and casting mold to be produced.
- At least 30%, preferably at least 50%, of an entire surface of the insert is preferably in contact with the mold.
- the remaining portion of the surface of the insert determines the shape of the component to be cast.
- Insert and mold are preferred in surface contact with each other, that is, the mold has one or more flat walls on which the insert is arranged.
- the insert part is particularly preferably a 3D printed component constructed in layers.
- This means that the insert has a layered structure which is produced in particular by means of 3D printing.
- the insert with a complex geometry can thus be produced in a simple and cost-effective manner.
- different inserts can be provided in a particularly simple manner for different components to be cast, since, for example, only an adaptation of the raw data for the 3D printing is required in the production of the inserts.
- inserts with particularly low tolerances in their geometry can be provided.
- the insert is preferably designed as a lost molded part.
- a lost mold part is considered to be a part of the casting mold that can only be used for a single casting operation, such as a lost core.
- a separate production of a corresponding insert is necessary for each component to be cast.
- ribs and/or struts and/or grooves and/or wall thickenings can be produced on the component to be cast in a simple manner.
- the insert is made of a ceramic material, preferably sand.
- the insert is designed similar to a sand core, which allows complex geometries to be manufactured easily and cost-effectively.
- this can be produced by means of binder jetting, for example.
- the casting mold particularly preferably also comprises a casting core.
- the casting core determines the inner contour of the component to be cast.
- the casting core is designed in such a way that the inner contour forms a cavity in the component to be cast.
- an open or alternatively closed cavity in the component to be cast is regarded as a hollow space. Areas of the component to be cast can thus be formed by the casting core, which in relation to a demolding direction after casting have undercuts. As a result, components with complex geometries can be manufactured in a simple and cost-effective manner.
- the insert and the casting core are preferably designed together as a one-piece molded part.
- the common molded part made up of the insert part and the casting core can thereby be arranged in the mold in a single step. A simple and cost-effective production of the casting mold can thus be made possible.
- the one-piece molded part can preferably be formed from a number of insert parts and/or a number of casting cores.
- the one-piece molded part is particularly preferably produced as an integral component by means of 3D printing.
- the mold is preferably designed without slides. That is, the mold has no slide.
- the mold has exclusively rigid or immovable walls that define a casting cavity in which the insert is arranged and into which the melt is poured. A particularly simple and cost-effective mold can thus be provided.
- the mold preferably has at least one slide.
- the at least one slide is set up to form, for example locally, an undercut in the component to be cast.
- a slide can also simplify loading the mold with the insert and/or enable the insert to be held down.
- the mold preferably has a casting cavity in which the insert is arranged.
- the casting cavity can be embodied in the shape of a trough.
- the casting cavity preferably has a cuboid shape. A mold with a particularly simple geometry can thus be provided.
- the casting mold particularly preferably also comprises a support core.
- the support core is set up to hold the casting core relative to the mold.
- the support core can, for example, be provided exclusively for the support effect of the casting core.
- the support core can also have a shaping effect for part of the component to be cast.
- freely hanging areas of the casting core can thus be supported with the support core in order to ensure high mechanical stability of the casting core during the casting process.
- the insert part is preferably produced by means of 3D printing.
- so-called “binder jetting” can be carried out as 3D printing, in which a binder is applied in layers to a powdery material that is applied in layers, in particular by means of a print head, in order to produce the insert in layers.
- a binder is applied in layers to a powdery material that is applied in layers, in particular by means of a print head, in order to produce the insert in layers.
- an insert with a complex geometry can be produced in a particularly simple and cost-effective manner.
- inserts with different geometries can be produced in a simple manner, since 3D printing, for example, does not require negative molds of the insert or the like.
- the method particularly preferably also includes the step of producing a casting core.
- the casting core is manufactured in such a way that it gives shape to an inner contour of the component to be cast.
- the casting core is particularly preferably designed to shape the inner contour in such a way that the inner contour has a cavity in the component to be cast. That is, the casting core is provided to form the cavity in the component to be cast.
- the casting core is preferably arranged inside the mold after it has been produced.
- the production of the insert and the production of the casting core preferably take place in a single step.
- the insert and the casting core are produced in such a way that the insert and the casting core are produced together as a one-piece molded part. This allows the method to be carried out particularly efficiently.
- the two inserts differ in that one of the inserts is designed to form additional ribs and/or struts and/or grooves and/or thickened walls on the corresponding component to be cast.
- figure 1 shows a sectional view of a mold 1 according to a first embodiment of the invention.
- the casting mold 1 comprises a permanent mold 2 and a molded part 3.
- the mold 2 is designed as a permanent mold and is preferably made of a metal such as steel.
- the mold 2 has a casting cavity 20 which is defined by walls 23 of the mold 2 and which is designed as a trough-shaped depression.
- the casting cavity 20 has a cuboid shape.
- a liquid melt for example made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy, is poured into the casting cavity 20 .
- the component to be cast is a part of the mold 2, in detail an inner wall of the casting cavity 20, and in addition the molding 3 provided together.
- the particularly simple trough-shaped geometry of the casting cavity 20 of the permanent mold 2 can be provided, while at the same time a complex 3D geometry of the component to be cast can be produced by the molded part 3 .
- the mold 2 can be formed by the molded part 3 without a slide.
- the molded part 3 is formed as a lost molded part from sand. That is, the molded part 3 is only used for exactly one casting process. After the melt has solidified in the casting mold 1, the molded part 3 is removed from the solidified material, for example by destroying it.
- the molded part 3 is a 3D printed component which is produced by means of 3D printing.
- the molded part 3 is built up in layers from the sand.
- a molded part 3 with a complex geometry can be produced in a simple and efficient manner.
- the molded part 3 has two areas that differ from one another, namely an insert 32 and a casting core 31.
- the insert 32 and the casting core 31 are formed together as a one-piece component of the molded part 3. This means that the insert 32 and the casting core 31 are produced together in a single production step using 3D printing.
- the insert 32 is in contact with the walls 23 of the mold 2. At least 30% of the surface of the insert 32 is in contact with the walls 23 of the mold 2. As a result, the insert 32 and a portion of the mold 2, namely those portions of the Walls 23 against which the insert 32 does not rest, shaping an outer contour of the component to be cast.
- the casting core 31 gives shape to an inner contour of the component to be cast.
- the casting core 31 is designed in such a way that the inner contour of the component to be cast has a cavity.
- cylinder heads for internal combustion engines of vehicles can be cast by means of the casting mold 1 according to the invention.
- the casting core 31 determines the shape of the inlet and outlet channels in the cylinder head.
- figure 2 shows a sectional view of a molded part 3 according to the invention of a casting mold 1 according to a second embodiment of the invention.
- the second embodiment corresponds essentially the first embodiment of the figure 1 , with the difference that the molded part 3 also has a support core 4 and supports 34 .
- FIG. 3 Detailed views of the molding 3 of figure 2 are also in the Figures 3 and 4 shown, wherein the molded part 3 is shown without supports 34, and wherein figure 3 represents an exploded view.
- the supports 34 are preferably made of the same material as the insert 32 and the casting core 31 and together with these elements as a one-piece component, ie to form the molded part 3 .
- the supports 34 thereby increase the mechanical stability of the molded part 3.
- the supports 34 reduce mechanical stresses on the casting core 31 and/or insert 32 that occur when the molded part 3 is being handled by additionally absorbing mechanical forces.
- the support core 4 is preferably made of the same material as the insert 32 and the casting core 31, but is made as a separate component from the molded part 3 (see in particular figure 3 ).
- the support core 4 can, for example, be arranged in the mold 2 before the molded part 3 is arranged in the latter.
- the support core 4 is provided here in order to mechanically support the casting core 31 against a direction of a gravitational force in order to avoid damage to the casting core 31, for example.
- the components can be cast with the casting molds 1 of all exemplary embodiments in such a way that the permanent mold 2 is reused, while a new molded part 3 is produced for each new component to be cast.
- the fact that the molded part 3 is produced by means of 3D printing offers the advantage that different molded parts 3 can be used for successive casting processes in a simple and cost-effective manner. This is exemplified by the exemplary embodiments Figures 5 and 6 explained.
- FIG 5 shows a sectional view of a casting mold 1 according to a third exemplary embodiment of the invention, only the casting core 31 of the molded part 3 being shown.
- the third embodiment corresponds essentially to the first embodiment of FIG figure 1 , with the difference that the mold 2 is formed in two parts with a first mold half 21 and a second mold half 22.
- the two mold halves 21, 22 are detachably fastened to each other.
- the casting mold 1 can be assembled in a simplified manner, in particular by means of a simplified assembly of the molded part 3 in the mold 2 .
- holders 35 are provided on the casting core 31, by means of which the casting core 31 is held in the mold 2, in detail at a contact surface between the two mold halves 21, 22.
- figure 6 shows a sectional view of a mold 1 according to a fourth embodiment of the invention.
- the fourth embodiment corresponds essentially to the third embodiment of FIG figure 5 , with the difference of an alternative casting core 31.
- the casting mold 1 of figure 6 the same mold 2 the figure 5 .
- Another component with an alternative geometry can be produced by replacing the casting core 31 .
- a plurality of recesses are provided in the casting core 31 of the fourth exemplary embodiment, which are designed to produce grooves 6, ribs 7 and thickened walls 8 on the component to be cast.

Description
The present invention relates to a mold for permanent mold casting. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for producing a mold for permanent mold casting and a method for permanent mold casting of components.
Molds for chill casting are known, with a chill mold being used as a permanent mold. The mold determines the shape of the component to be cast. If components with undercuts and/or cavities are to be cast, the use of casting cores, which can be made of sand, for example, is also known. Alternatively or additionally, molds with slides are used. Such a slide is pulled out of the undercut or cavity after the component has solidified, so that the component can be demoulded. The molds usually require a very complex and cost-intensive manufacture, since in particular for components with different geometries, different molds that have been adapted accordingly are required.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a mold for permanent mold casting which enables components of different geometries to be produced efficiently and cost-effectively. Furthermore, it is an object of the invention to provide a simple and cost-effective method of manufacturing a casting mold. A further object of the invention is to provide a method for chill casting of components with which components of different geometries can be produced efficiently and cost-effectively.
The object is achieved by a casting mold according to
The casting mold according to the invention comprises a permanent mold and an insert. The insert is arranged inside the mold. The insert and a partial area of the permanent mold jointly shape an outer contour of a component to be cast by means of the casting mold.
In other words, the casting mold is designed in two parts with the mold and with the additional insert part, which is arranged in the mold. Mold and insert are preferably connected to one another, in particular so that the insert is immovably attached to the mold. In this case, the insert part determines part of the outer contour of the component to be cast. The remaining part of the outer contour of the component to be cast is determined by the mold.
The insert is preferably responsible for shaping at least 50%, preferably at least 70%, of the outer contour of the component to be cast.
In particular, a surface of the component to be cast that is accessible from the outside is considered to be the outer contour of the component to be cast. The outer contour preferably defines maximum outer dimensions of the component to be cast. In particular, the component to be cast can additionally have an inner contour which has a cavity in the component to be cast, ie an inner contour which is not accessible from the outside.
The casting mold according to the invention offers the advantage that it can be produced in a particularly simple and cost-effective manner and can be used in a simple and cost-effective manner for casting components of different geometries. In addition, the casting mold can be easily adapted to different geometries of the components to be cast by using a different insert part with the same mold geometry. The casting mold is therefore also suitable in particular for the production of small series components with high flexibility of the component geometry and low costs per component and casting mold to be produced.
At least 30%, preferably at least 50%, of an entire surface of the insert is preferably in contact with the mold. In particular, the remaining portion of the surface of the insert determines the shape of the component to be cast. Insert and mold are preferred in surface contact with each other, that is, the mold has one or more flat walls on which the insert is arranged. As a result, a particularly simple geometry of the permanent mold and simple assembly of the casting mold can be made possible, as a result of which the production costs of the casting mold and also the casting of components can be made possible in a particularly cost-effective manner.
The insert part is particularly preferably a 3D printed component constructed in layers. This means that the insert has a layered structure which is produced in particular by means of 3D printing. The insert with a complex geometry can thus be produced in a simple and cost-effective manner. In particular, different inserts can be provided in a particularly simple manner for different components to be cast, since, for example, only an adaptation of the raw data for the 3D printing is required in the production of the inserts. Furthermore, inserts with particularly low tolerances in their geometry can be provided.
The insert is preferably designed as a lost molded part. In particular, a lost mold part is considered to be a part of the casting mold that can only be used for a single casting operation, such as a lost core. As a result, a separate production of a corresponding insert is necessary for each component to be cast. This results in the advantage that for each component to be cast an insert part that shapes its outer contour is produced individually, with simple and flexible adaptation being made possible. For example, ribs and/or struts and/or grooves and/or wall thickenings can be produced on the component to be cast in a simple manner.
More preferably, the insert is made of a ceramic material, preferably sand. Thus, the insert is designed similar to a sand core, which allows complex geometries to be manufactured easily and cost-effectively. In the case of a 3D printed component as an insert, this can be produced by means of binder jetting, for example.
The casting mold particularly preferably also comprises a casting core. The casting core determines the inner contour of the component to be cast. In particular, the casting core is designed in such a way that the inner contour forms a cavity in the component to be cast. In particular, an open or alternatively closed cavity in the component to be cast is regarded as a hollow space. Areas of the component to be cast can thus be formed by the casting core, which in relation to a demolding direction after casting have undercuts. As a result, components with complex geometries can be manufactured in a simple and cost-effective manner.
The insert and the casting core are preferably designed together as a one-piece molded part. In particular, the common molded part made up of the insert part and the casting core can thereby be arranged in the mold in a single step. A simple and cost-effective production of the casting mold can thus be made possible. The one-piece molded part can preferably be formed from a number of insert parts and/or a number of casting cores. The one-piece molded part is particularly preferably produced as an integral component by means of 3D printing.
The mold is preferably designed without slides. That is, the mold has no slide. In particular, the mold has exclusively rigid or immovable walls that define a casting cavity in which the insert is arranged and into which the melt is poured. A particularly simple and cost-effective mold can thus be provided.
Alternatively, the mold preferably has at least one slide. In particular, the at least one slide is set up to form, for example locally, an undercut in the component to be cast. For example, a slide can also simplify loading the mold with the insert and/or enable the insert to be held down.
The mold preferably has a casting cavity in which the insert is arranged. In particular, the casting cavity can be embodied in the shape of a trough. The casting cavity preferably has a cuboid shape. A mold with a particularly simple geometry can thus be provided.
The casting mold particularly preferably also comprises a support core. The support core is set up to hold the casting core relative to the mold. The support core can, for example, be provided exclusively for the support effect of the casting core. Alternatively, the support core can also have a shaping effect for part of the component to be cast. In particular, freely hanging areas of the casting core can thus be supported with the support core in order to ensure high mechanical stability of the casting core during the casting process.
- providing a mold,
- Manufacture of an insert, and
- Arranging the insert within the mold.
The insert part is preferably produced by means of 3D printing. For example, so-called “binder jetting” can be carried out as 3D printing, in which a binder is applied in layers to a powdery material that is applied in layers, in particular by means of a print head, in order to produce the insert in layers. As a result, an insert with a complex geometry can be produced in a particularly simple and cost-effective manner. In addition, with successive casting processes that otherwise remain the same, inserts with different geometries can be produced in a simple manner, since 3D printing, for example, does not require negative molds of the insert or the like.
The method particularly preferably also includes the step of producing a casting core. The casting core is manufactured in such a way that it gives shape to an inner contour of the component to be cast. The casting core is particularly preferably designed to shape the inner contour in such a way that the inner contour has a cavity in the component to be cast. That is, the casting core is provided to form the cavity in the component to be cast. The casting core is preferably arranged inside the mold after it has been produced. As a result, components with particularly complex geometries, such as those with undercuts, can be cast easily and inexpensively.
The production of the insert and the production of the casting core preferably take place in a single step. The insert and the casting core are produced in such a way that the insert and the casting core are produced together as a one-piece molded part. This allows the method to be carried out particularly efficiently.
- making a mold by the method for making a mold described above, and
- casting of the component.

- Casting a first component using the first mold,
- Demoulding of the first component from the first mold,
- Production of a second casting mold, which has the first mold and a second insert,
- casting a second component using the second mold, and
- demolding the second component from the second mold.
Particularly preferably, the two inserts differ in that one of the inserts is designed to form additional ribs and/or struts and/or grooves and/or thickened walls on the corresponding component to be cast.

The

For shaping, that is, a definition of the component geometry, the component to be cast is a part of the
The molded
The molded
The supports 34 are preferably made of the same material as the
