Definitions
- the invention relates to a lamp according to the preamble of claim 1 and a circuit board for using such a lamp according to claim 13.
- LEDs are usually SMD components which are arranged on a circuit board and are electrically connected to it and have a rectangular, often square, luminous area.
- SMD components which are arranged on a circuit board and are electrically connected to it and have a rectangular, often square, luminous area.
- elongated lights which have at least one row of LEDs arranged one behind the other, so that these LEDs lie on a straight line.
- a workplace lamp has two rows of LEDs extending parallel to one another.
- the light exit window of the lamp is formed by a diffuser.
- LEDs with different spectra that is to say at least two types of LEDs (first LEDs and second LEDs), in a luminaire in order to achieve a specific color spectrum.
- control the different LEDs separately (that is, one circuit is provided for the first LEDs and one circuit is provided for the second LEDs) so that the relative brightness of the first LEDs to the second LEDs can be adjusted in order to do so to be able to adjust the "overall color" of the radiation emitted by the lamp.
- a goal with almost all workplace lights is that the illumination of the work surface is as uniform as possible, that is, that the light irradiation on the work surface is as homogeneous as possible in terms of both intensity and spectrum.
- the present invention sets itself the task of providing a luminaire which leads to such a homogeneous light input, in particular when at least two different LEDs (hereinafter referred to as first LEDs and second LEDs) are installed in the luminaire.
- the luminaire has two rows of LEDs, so that a first row of first LEDs and a second row of second LEDs are present, the first LEDs forming a first line and the second LEDs forming a second line and both lines extend along a main direction. All first LEDs are preferably identical to one another and all second LEDs are identical to one another, but the first and second LEDs differ from one another in terms of their spectra, so that the spectrum of the light emitted by the lamp is an additive mixture of the spectra of the first and second LEDs is. Typically, each row has over 50 LEDs, often significantly more.
- At least one of the two lines is designed to be undulating. This keeps the structure of the circuit board very simple - all the first LEDs form a first row and lie on the first line and all the second LEDs form a second row and lie on a second line, whereby the two lines usually do not overlap - and yet the light homogeneity is significantly improved compared to an arrangement in which the first and the second LEDs are each on a straight line.
- both lines are designed to be wavy, in particular if these two waves are located "parallel", that is to say in phase with one another, that is, when the distance between the two lines is constant.
- the two wavy lines are preferably also formed periodically, for example essentially sinusoidally.
- the optical separability of the two straight lines on the illuminated object can only be reduced by reducing the distance between the two straight lines, so that the diffuser is less evenly illuminated across its width and the illumination is more uneven to be illuminated object is achieved.
- the luminous flux density decreases towards the side edges of the diffuser, which can lead to a non-homogeneous illumination of the illuminated work surface.
- different colored LEDs for the two straight lines this would be associated with differently colored images on the diffuser, despite the smallest possible distance between the straight lines, and it would be obvious that different colored LED groups are used.
- the illumination on the object could then also have different color zones (depending on the distance, LED arrangement and diffuser material), since it cannot be optimally mixed.
- An additional advantage of the wave-shaped arrangement of the LEDs is that the drivers (linear regulators) and control resistors required for the operation of LEDs can be accommodated outside the arrangement of the LEDs in a space-saving manner within the wave troughs.
- a linear regulator and an assigned external variable resistor together have approximately the same space requirements as an LED.
- these linear regulators are very often located between the LEDs along their main direction of extent. This unlit room often interferes with a homogeneous light output, e.g. if places on the circuit board can be less densely equipped with LEDs because drivers are provided here or a driver shades part of the light emitted by an LED. Due to the wave-shaped and evenly arranged LEDs with linear controllers away from the LED path in the valleys of the waves, there is no inhomogeneity due to the necessary drivers.
- Another advantage is as follows: The maximum number of LEDs that can be arranged on a straight line per unit length is subject to thermal limits as well as to the space required for conductor tracks and pads.
- the wave-shaped arrangement "relaxes" this significantly, that is, the number of LEDs per unit length can be increased.
- the amplitude of the wave (s) is preferably relatively small, that is to say that the arrangement of the LEDs defines a length in the main direction and a width perpendicular to the main direction and the length exceeds the width by a factor of at least 25. This further improves the light homogeneity and has the further advantage of relatively small circuit boards that are easy to manufacture.
- the distance between two adjacent first and second LEDs is relatively small, in particular less than half the edge length of an LED.
- the first and second LEDs are preferably each arranged on a circuit board and the lamp has several identically constructed circuit boards arranged one behind the other in the main direction, the wave pattern of the LEDs preferably being repeated several times on each circuit board.
- the luminaire usually has a housing with two side walls.
- the inner sides of the side walls can be made reflective. This can also have a favorable effect on the homogeneity of the emitted light, as can the presence of a diffuser.
- the lamp 5 has a housing 20 with a base 23 and two side walls 21, 22.
- the inner sides 21a and 21b of the side walls are preferably designed to be reflective, for example in that they are white.
- the light exit opening of the housing is closed by means of a plate-shaped diffuser 25.
- the provision of a diffuser 25 is preferred, but not mandatory for all conceivable exemplary embodiments. Instead of a diffuser 25, a clear pane or even no component at all could also be provided.
- the housing is usually also closed at the end faces; however, the corresponding end walls are not shown in the figures.
- the luminaire extends in a main direction H and a plurality of rectangular boards 10 equipped with LEDs 11, 12 are arranged on the floor 23 along this main direction H. All of these circuit boards 10 are similar to one another, in particular with regard to the arrangement of their LEDs.
- Each of the circuit boards 10 carries two rows of LEDs, namely a first row of first LEDs 11 and a second row of second LEDs 12, which each lie on a non-straight line (first line and second line).
- the two lines form waves in phase with each other.
- the luminous areas of the LEDs which are designed as SMD components, are square and typically have an edge length between 2 and 4 mm.
- the circuitry of the circuit boards is such that all first LEDs 11 of the light can be controlled together and that all second LEDs 12 of the light can be controlled together, so that the relative brightness of first LEDs 11 and second LEDs 12 can be adjusted. All the first LEDs 11 are similar to one another, as well all of the second LEDs 12, however, the first LEDs 11 have an emission spectrum that differs from the second LEDs 12.
- the length I of the LED arrangement essentially corresponds to the length of the lamp. This length I is typically between 30 centimeters and more than one meter.
- First LEDs 11 and second LEDs 12 lie in one plane and are arranged as waves that are parallel to one another - that is, in-phase - i.e. the distance between LEDs that are adjacent in the transverse direction to the main direction H is constant.
- the wave pattern is repeated several times on each circuit board, in the specific exemplary embodiment shown, after every seven LEDs.
- the wavy lines generated in this way "oscillate" with respect to a straight line g extending along the main direction H in such a way that most of the first LEDs 11 are arranged on one side of this straight line g and most of the second LEDs 12 on the other side of this straight line g are arranged.
- none of the first LEDs 11 is on the side of the second LEDs 12 and vice versa; furthermore, some first and second LEDs 11, 12 are intersected by the straight line g.
- the two parallel waves of the LEDs thus have a relatively low amplitude and the length of the LED arrangement I thus exceeds the total width b of the LED arrangement by at least a factor of 25. This is also favored by the fact that the distance between the second adjacent first and second LEDs is significantly smaller than the edge length of the LEDs.
- the amplitude of the two wavy lines can also be greater, in particular to the effect that the straight line g forms the zero line around which the two lines oscillate.
- the total length I of the LED arrangement is significantly greater than the maximum width, preferably likewise by at least a factor of 25.

In order to generate a homogeneous light emission, the two lines extend along a common main direction (H) and at least one of the lines is designed to be wave-shaped (FIG. 2).
Description
The invention relates to a lamp according to the preamble of claim 1 and a circuit board for using such a lamp according to claim 13.
Most modern workplace lights are nowadays designed as LED lights and for this purpose have a plurality of LEDs. The LEDs are usually SMD components which are arranged on a circuit board and are electrically connected to it and have a rectangular, often square, luminous area. To illuminate large work surfaces such as table surfaces or the like, elongated lights are known which have at least one row of LEDs arranged one behind the other, so that these LEDs lie on a straight line. It is also known here that such a workplace lamp has two rows of LEDs extending parallel to one another. It is also known that the light exit window of the lamp is formed by a diffuser.
It is also known to use LEDs with different spectra, that is to say at least two types of LEDs (first LEDs and second LEDs), in a luminaire in order to achieve a specific color spectrum. It is also known to control the different LEDs separately (that is, one circuit is provided for the first LEDs and one circuit is provided for the second LEDs) so that the relative brightness of the first LEDs to the second LEDs can be adjusted in order to do so to be able to adjust the "overall color" of the radiation emitted by the lamp. A goal with almost all workplace lights is that the illumination of the work surface is as uniform as possible, that is, that the light irradiation on the work surface is as homogeneous as possible in terms of both intensity and spectrum.
Based on this, the present invention sets itself the task of providing a luminaire which leads to such a homogeneous light input, in particular when at least two different LEDs (hereinafter referred to as first LEDs and second LEDs) are installed in the luminaire.
This object is achieved by a lamp with the features of claim 1. A circuit board for use in such a lamp is specified in claim 13.
As is fundamentally known in the prior art, the luminaire has two rows of LEDs, so that a first row of first LEDs and a second row of second LEDs are present, the first LEDs forming a first line and the second LEDs forming a second line and both lines extend along a main direction.
According to the invention, at least one of the two lines is designed to be undulating.
A particularly good homogeneity of the light is achieved if both lines are designed to be wavy, in particular if these two waves are located "parallel", that is to say in phase with one another, that is, when the distance between the two lines is constant. The two wavy lines are preferably also formed periodically, for example essentially sinusoidally.
With a linear arrangement of LEDs (two straight lines), the optical separability of the two straight lines on the illuminated object can only be reduced by reducing the distance between the two straight lines, so that the diffuser is less evenly illuminated across its width and the illumination is more uneven to be illuminated object is achieved. The luminous flux density decreases towards the side edges of the diffuser, which can lead to a non-homogeneous illumination of the illuminated work surface. When using different colored LEDs for the two straight lines, this would be associated with differently colored images on the diffuser, despite the smallest possible distance between the straight lines, and it would be obvious that different colored LED groups are used. The illumination on the object could then also have different color zones (depending on the distance, LED arrangement and diffuser material), since it cannot be optimally mixed.
Due to the wave-like arrangement of the differently colored LEDs, it is optically impossible for an observer to make out two differently colored illuminants on the surface of any diffusers that may be used, and the illusion of a single-colored, homogeneous illuminant arises. The wave pattern widens the LED array without removing the color groups from one another. The diffuser also works more effectively, the result is a homogeneous color mixture on the object.
The optically best results are achieved when the amplitude and the in-phase distance between the two waves are chosen so that the minima of the upper wave and maxima of the lower wave are at least at the same level (and vice versa) or even further overlap. This only applies to the wave pattern, not to the conductor tracks. So can be visual for different color groups There is no clear separation of the light source and this impression is perfected in conjunction with a diffuser that may be used.
An additional advantage of the wave-shaped arrangement of the LEDs is that the drivers (linear regulators) and control resistors required for the operation of LEDs can be accommodated outside the arrangement of the LEDs in a space-saving manner within the wave troughs. A linear regulator and an assigned external variable resistor together have approximately the same space requirements as an LED. Conventionally, these linear regulators are very often located between the LEDs along their main direction of extent.
Another advantage is as follows: The maximum number of LEDs that can be arranged on a straight line per unit length is subject to thermal limits as well as to the space required for conductor tracks and pads. The wave-shaped arrangement "relaxes" this significantly, that is, the number of LEDs per unit length can be increased.
The amplitude of the wave (s) is preferably relatively small, that is to say that the arrangement of the LEDs defines a length in the main direction and a width perpendicular to the main direction and the length exceeds the width by a factor of at least 25. This further improves the light homogeneity and has the further advantage of relatively small circuit boards that are easy to manufacture.
In order to further improve the homogeneity, it is further preferred that the distance between two adjacent first and second LEDs is relatively small, in particular less than half the edge length of an LED.
In order to be able to produce the lamp easily, the first and second LEDs are preferably each arranged on a circuit board and the lamp has several identically constructed circuit boards arranged one behind the other in the main direction, the wave pattern of the LEDs preferably being repeated several times on each circuit board.
The luminaire usually has a housing with two side walls. In order to increase the light yield, the inner sides of the side walls can be made reflective. This can also have a favorable effect on the homogeneity of the emitted light, as can the presence of a diffuser.

In the exemplary embodiment shown, the length I of the LED arrangement essentially corresponds to the length of the lamp. This length I is typically between 30 centimeters and more than one meter.
