Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for operating a washing machine with a tub for receiving washing liquid for treating laundry of a drum rotatably mounted in the tub with a horizontal or inclined axis and drivable for receiving the laundry, the method comprising a washing phase in which the washing liquid is brought into contact with the laundry.
- the laundry is moved in the rotating drum, which causes the laundry to be wetted or moistened with the washing liquid and the washing mechanism.
- There is water in the tub or in the drum whereby the movement of the laundry rinses out the dirt.
- Such a method for operating such a washing machine is from DE 34 01 899 A1 known.
- water is let into a space in the lower area of the tub with the addition of detergent, the water or the washing liquid mixed with detergent not yet coming into contact with the laundry.
- the lye is then heated up inside the room and circulated in the process.
- the actual flooding device is activated, that is, the washing liquid is applied to the laundry.
- an increased time requirement can be determined compared to a normal washing phase, since the detergent dissolving is carried out separately before the wetting section.
- more washing liquid must be made available, since the space below the tub takes up a considerable part of the free liquor.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of providing a method with an improved washing effect and providing a favorable energy consumption and / or water consumption for the washing process.
- the essential advantage of the method according to the invention is that an improvement in the washing effect and a reduction in washing time and energy consumption compared to a conventional washing phase with flooding can be achieved in a simple manner. Complex structural measures are not necessary here because a bypass device with pump and riser pipe are not required. It is true that sensors such as pressure sensors and possibly a temperature sensor are required, but they are inexpensive to install accordingly or they are already available in a conventional washing machine.
- the control of the washing process is achieved by adapting the computer program for the control device.
- the suction phase is provided in step b), in which the laundry items suck up the washing liquid. Only so much water is sucked in until the suction behavior is saturated. The portion of washing liquid not absorbed remains as free liquor in the tub. The level of the remaining free liquor is measured so that it touches the bottom of the drum, so that the drum or the The drum shell has just reached the free liquor in this situation.
- step c) the drum is rotated at spin speed in order to drive out the liquor bound in the laundry and to allow it to get into the tub. In this case, it is accepted that the drum will dip into the free liquor despite the spin speed, which is normally not usual. Since this is only carried out as long as no significant foam formation occurs, a liquor exchange between the bound liquor and the free liquor can be provided. The bound liquor gets through the drum perforation into the tub, where it collects in the lower area. The laundry is now able to soak up washing liquid again as soon as the spinning has ended and the laundry is at the bottom in the washing liquid.
- step b) the drum is rotated in a reversing rhythm at a second speed below the application speed, so that laundry falls.
- step b) has a predetermined duration in the range from 5 to 200 seconds and step c) has a predetermined duration in the range from 2 to 5 seconds.
- the short spin phase is sufficient to drive enough bound liquor out of the laundry, the long action time in step b) causing it to be soaked up again until saturation.
- This process can be repeated several times, whereby the washing liquid is not pumped out. In principle, this repeated sucking up and expelling of the liquor re-flooding, the flooding device with pump and lines being dispensed with.
- overall less washing liquid is required compared to a conventional washing phase, in which the laundry is only subjected to one laundry fall. This is because there is no exchange of the liquor by expelling it and soaking it up again in the laundry.
- step b) the drum is rotated at the second speed, which is below the application speed, or a dwell time is carried out without rotating the drum until the level reaches the lower limit value.
- the suction is monitored and the suction time is adapted to the suction behavior of the laundry or items of laundry. This ensures that there are no unnecessary waiting times with low absorbency and with strong absorbent items of laundry a sufficient suction time is provided to achieve sufficient saturation.
- step c) the drum is rotated at the first speed, i.e. the high application speed or spin speed, until the level reaches the upper limit value.
- the first speed i.e. the high application speed or spin speed
- the level of free liquor of washing liquid in the tub increases, whereby the spinning can also be ended here when the predetermined limit level is reached and there is no longer any significant expulsion of the bound liquor.
- the level that occurs after step b) has been completed, i.e. after suction, is the lowest level and can be set so that the free liquor in the sump of the tub just touches the drum wall or the bottom of the drum into the free one Fleet is only slightly immersed.
- the second, i.e. lower speed is in the range from 10 rpm to 55 rpm and the first, higher speed is in the range from 80 rpm to 2000 rpm, preferably in the range 120 rpm. min to 1000 rpm, further preferably in the range from 150 rpm to 600 rpm.
- the first, high speed with the usual drum size, the items of laundry come into contact with the drum shell and the lye is expelled from the laundry without placing excessive mechanical stress on the laundry.
- the speeds deviate from the critical speed range in which the imbalance leads to vibrations most strongly, so that a safe and smooth run is provided.
- steps b) and c) are repeated 2 to 20 times, preferably 4 to 10 times.
- steps b) and c) are repeated 2 to 20 times, preferably 4 to 10 times.
- the washing machine comprises a heating device for heating the washing liquid, the heating device being activated from step b) until a predetermined temperature of the washing liquid is reached.
- the heating device is switched off during step c) or steps c) and the heating device is switched on again when step b) is repeated.
- the heating direction is always switched off during the spin cycle, because foam can form during this time. Heating when there is foam formation, however, carries the risk that the radiator can overheat because the heat transfer through the air bubbles is reduced.
- the heating element is switched off during the spinning and switched on again in the suction phases.
- the washing machine further comprises a means for detecting foam formation, with foam formation monitoring being activated at least in steps c), with steps c) each ending after foam is detected.
- the drum can be rotated longer at the so-called high speed, which leads to a shortened or improved moisture penetration or washing effect if there is no foam formation. If the foam forms early, the spin phases can be shortened.
- the spinning process can be automatically dispensed with and the conventional operating mode, i.e. reversing without spinning sections, can be switched over.
- the washing phase is followed by at least one rinsing phase in which the washing liquid is removed from the tub and fresh water is let into the tub to rinse the items to be washed.
- the washing liquid loaded with detergent and dirt is at least almost completely removed from the laundry.
- the drum can be driven in the manner described above.
- the invention also relates to a washing machine with a tub for holding washing liquid for treating laundry, a drum rotatably mounted in the tub with a horizontal or inclined axis, a motor for rotating the drum, a heater, a water inlet device, a sensor for detecting the liquid level in the tub, a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the washing liquid and a control device for controlling the individual phases of the selected washing program, wherein the control device is in operative connection with the sensors and is configured to rotate the flooding device, the heating element, the water inlet device and the motor to activate or deactivate or switch the drum on or off according to the method according to one of the above-mentioned embodiments or developments.
- the sensors are in sync with the control device Connection.
- a pressure sensor can be used as a sensor for the level, for example, which is connected to an air trap on the tub in the lower area by means of a hose line.
- conductivity sensors can also be attached to the tub wall, which then emit a signal to the control device when they are covered by washing liquid.
- Other sensors are also possible, the control device then having to be configured accordingly.
- the temperature sensor and the sensor for detecting the liquid level are arranged in the sump of the tub. As a result, the temperature of the very small amount of washing liquid can be detected reliably and precisely.
- the washing machine comprises a means for foam detection.
- This can be a sensor which is arranged in the tub, preferably in the sump of the tub.
- a plausibility check of the detected motor current for the drive motor of the drum or a plausibility check of other sensor data can be used as a means for foam detection.
- a washing machine 1 with a tub 2 is shown in a purely schematic representation.
- the position and directional information relates to the operational set-up position of the washing machine 1.
- Inside the tub 2 is a rotatably mounted drum 3 driven by an electric motor 13, which moves the laundry items 8 in the tub 2.
- the drum 3 is made of stainless steel and is provided with a large number of openings for the flow.
- the housing 4 has a loading opening 9 through which the interior of the drum 3 can be reached through the sealing sleeve 6.
- the loading opening 9 can be closed by means of a door 5.
- a heater 7 is arranged, which can heat the washing liquid in the tub.
- an inlet valve 15 is sketched, which provides the inlet of the water from the supply network.
- the water is passed through the connecting pipe 14 into the tub 2, with im Dispenser 11 detergent entered is rinsed into the tub 2.
- a drainage device 12 is arranged below the tub 2, which leads the used washing liquid or the rinsing water out of the tub 2 to the drain line 12c, which as a rule opens into a sewer.
- the control device 18 controls the inlet valve 15, the activity of the drain device 12 or the drain pump 12a, the drive motor 13, which is energized via the power unit or a frequency converter 16, and the heating element 7.
- Fig. 1 it is also shown that the washing machine has an additional sump 24 below the tub 2, in which washing liquor 19 can collect.
- the heating element 7 and a temperature sensor 22 are arranged or integrated in the sump 24.
- a pressure sensor 21 is located below the sump 24.
- Fig. 1 the situation is shown in which the drum 3 is rotated at a spin speed so that the laundry items 8 are pressed against the drum shell.
- the water level 19 is dimensioned such that the drum 3 is immersed in the washing liquid 19 with its underside.
- a complete sequence of a wash program WP is shown in a diagram as an example.
- the individual phases or time segments within the washing program WP are shown on the time axis t.
- the program sequence WP shown here comprises a washing phase Wa, a rinsing phase Sp and a spin phase Sc.
- the water inlet 15 and the outlet 12 are controlled accordingly.
- the heating element 7 and the drive motor 13 are also controlled accordingly in order to heat the washing liquid 19 to the predetermined temperature.
- the moisture penetration section DF is carried out, in which the laundry 8 is wetted with liquid 19 and soaked through.
- this section DF water is let into the dispensing device or dispensing compartment 11, as a result of which the treatment agent stored therein, such as washing powder, is let into the tub 2 through the connecting pipe 14.
- the heating section Hz in which the washing liquid is heated by means of the switched-on heating element 7 to the temperature which is specified by the control device 18 from the selected program.
- the heating element 7 is switched off and the so-called post-washing section Na follows.
- the laundry 8 is moved by means of a rotating drum 3, the washing liquid 19 cooling down.
- the washing phase Wa is ended with the pumping out, wherein the drainage device 12, in particular the pump 12a or a Drain valve is activated. During pumping, spinning can also take place so that the washing liquid 19 mixed with detergent is removed from the fabric of the laundry items 8.
- the rinsing section Sp in which fresh water is let into the tub and the laundry items 8 are moved therein.
- the rinsing water is pumped out, with the final spinning Sc for dewatering the laundry items 8 then following.
- the drum 3 is rotated at an increased speed compared to the washing process, at which the laundry items 8 rest against the drum shell and the water or the washing liquid is thrown out of the fabric through the drum openings due to the centrifugal force.
- the drain device 12 is activated here, so that the liquid is removed from the tub 2.
- a main problem in the process of damp cleaning is the uniform moisture penetration of the laundry 8. Washing liquor 19 must be spun out several times and returned to the laundry 8 in order to achieve uniform moisture penetration. Since the detergent solution 19 collects in the tub 2 during the spin cycle, massive foam problems can also arise. In order to counter these problems, special measures must be taken for the moisture penetration Df and the heating Hz of the items to be washed. The individual phases of the washing process are adapted in a special way.
- Fig. 3 the washing phase is shown schematically in a diagram.
- the liquid level LEV is 0 and then rises because washing liquid is let into the tub 2.
- the supply of liquid is stopped, the level Niv1 being set so that the underside of the drum 3 is immersed in the liquid.
- the washing liquid reaches the drum 3 and the laundry 8 located therein through the perforation in the drum shell.
- the laundry 8 absorbs the liquid so that the level LEV drops.
- the drum 3 begins to rotate in a reversing rhythm at a speed well below the application speed, for example a speed in the range from 10 rpm to 60 rpm.
- the laundry 8 is again absorbent because a portion of the liquid has been expelled.
- the drum 3 is moved again at a low speed below the application speed, so that the laundry items 8 suck up liquid again. This can be seen from the drop in level NIV from the high level Niv3 to the lower level Niv2.
- the spin phase WS is activated again and the sequence as described above is repeated accordingly.
- the soaking Df and heating Hz and post-washing Na without activating the heating element can also be mentioned as sub-steps. Since the liquid level LEV of the washing liquid in the tub 2 is so high, even during the spinning phases WS, that the rotating drum 3 comes into contact with washing liquor, increased foam formation can occur. A certain amount of foam formation is tolerated, but if the foam formation is inadmissibly high, the respective spin phase WS is prematurely terminated or canceled. This then leads to an increased power consumption and finally to a drop in the speed of the drive motor 13. The formation of foam must therefore be recognized in good time. This can be done either by reading out the motor speed or the motor current. The engine speed can be read out via the tachometer generator already used in the engines today. The evaluation of the motor current can be done with drives with frequency converters 16 or brushless motors via the control electronics.
- Fig. 4 the skidding and the behavior of the free liquor 19 is outlined.
- the boundary line Niv1, 2, 3 indicates that the liquid level in the tub 2 is set such that the drum 3 with its underside 3b is immersed in the liquid 19.
- the drum 3 is mounted with a horizontal axis of rotation 3a.
- the drum 3 is rotated at the spin speed n1
- the items of laundry lie against the drum shell and the liquid absorbed therein is expelled from the laundry 8 through holes in the drum 3.
- the liquid 19 of the free liquor in the lower area of the tub 2 is carried along by the drum 3 due to the adhesion behavior and is raised to the side in the tub 2 so that the level in the lower region of the drum 3 decreases.
- the laundry items 9 are slightly or not re-moistened when they pass through the lower area. In the upper areas the liquid is centrifuged out of the laundry 8.

Description
The invention relates to a method for operating a washing machine with a tub for receiving washing liquid for treating laundry of a drum rotatably mounted in the tub with a horizontal or inclined axis and drivable for receiving the laundry, the method comprising a washing phase in which the washing liquid is brought into contact with the laundry.

The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a method with an improved washing effect and providing a favorable energy consumption and / or water consumption for the washing process.
The object is achieved by a method with the features of
The essential advantage of the method according to the invention is that an improvement in the washing effect and a reduction in washing time and energy consumption compared to a conventional washing phase with flooding can be achieved in a simple manner. Complex structural measures are not necessary here because a bypass device with pump and riser pipe are not required. It is true that sensors such as pressure sensors and possibly a temperature sensor are required, but they are inexpensive to install accordingly or they are already available in a conventional washing machine. The control of the washing process is achieved by adapting the computer program for the control device.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren umfasst dazu die Schritte
- a) Einlassen einer Wassermenge unter Hinzufügung von Waschmittel in den Laugenbehälter, wobei die Wassermenge so bemessen ist, dass sich ein erster vorbestimmter Flüssigkeitsstand im Laugenbehälter einstellt;
- b) Durchfeuchten der Wäsche mittels der eingelassenen Waschflüssigkeit für eine erste vorbestimmte Zeit;
- a) Letting in an amount of water with the addition of detergent into the tub, the amount of water being such that a first predetermined liquid level is established in the tub;
- b) soaking the laundry by means of the let-in washing liquid for a first predetermined time;
- c) rotating the drum for a predetermined second time at a first speed which is higher than the application speed, whereby a centrifugal effect with expulsion of washing liquid from the laundry and an increase in the level of the washing liquid to an upper value, which is above the The bottom of the drum is so that the drum is immersed in the liquid.
Here, the suction phase is provided in step b), in which the laundry items suck up the washing liquid. In step c) the drum is rotated at spin speed in order to drive out the liquor bound in the laundry and to allow it to get into the tub.
Overall, all direction and position information relates to the washing machine's operating position.
In an expedient embodiment, in step b) the drum is rotated in a reversing rhythm at a second speed below the application speed, so that laundry falls. As a result, an improved mixing of the laundry with the washing liquid is achieved, overall the absorption of the washing liquid is accelerated.
In a further, overall expedient embodiment, step b) has a predetermined duration in the range from 5 to 200 seconds and step c) has a predetermined duration in the range from 2 to 5 seconds. The short spin phase is sufficient to drive enough bound liquor out of the laundry, the long action time in step b) causing it to be soaked up again until saturation. This process can be repeated several times, whereby the washing liquid is not pumped out. In principle, this repeated sucking up and expelling of the liquor re-flooding, the flooding device with pump and lines being dispensed with. Furthermore, overall less washing liquid is required compared to a conventional washing phase, in which the laundry is only subjected to one laundry fall. This is because there is no exchange of the liquor by expelling it and soaking it up again in the laundry.
In an overall advantageous embodiment, step
b) the drum is rotated at the second speed, which is below the application speed, or a dwell time is carried out without rotating the drum until the level reaches the lower limit value. This means that the suction is monitored and the suction time is adapted to the suction behavior of the laundry or items of laundry. This ensures that there are no unnecessary waiting times with low absorbency and with strong absorbent items of laundry a sufficient suction time is provided to achieve sufficient saturation.
In a further advantageous embodiment, in step
c) the drum is rotated at the first speed, i.e. the high application speed or spin speed, until the level reaches the upper limit value. During spinning, the level of free liquor of washing liquid in the tub increases, whereby the spinning can also be ended here when the predetermined limit level is reached and there is no longer any significant expulsion of the bound liquor.
It applies to all steps that the predetermined liquid levels or the predetermined limit values are respectively above the underside of the drum. The level that occurs after step b) has been completed, i.e. after suction, is the lowest level and can be set so that the free liquor in the sump of the tub just touches the drum wall or the bottom of the drum into the free one Fleet is only slightly immersed.
Overall, it is useful that the second, i.e. lower speed is in the range from 10 rpm to 55 rpm and the first, higher speed is in the range from 80 rpm to 2000 rpm, preferably in the range 120 rpm. min to 1000 rpm, further preferably in the range from 150 rpm to 600 rpm. As a result, a good laundry fall is achieved with drum sizes that are common for the household. For the first, high speed, with the usual drum size, the items of laundry come into contact with the drum shell and the lye is expelled from the laundry without placing excessive mechanical stress on the laundry. The speeds deviate from the critical speed range in which the imbalance leads to vibrations most strongly, so that a safe and smooth run is provided.
In a further, overall expedient embodiment of the invention, steps b) and c) are repeated 2 to 20 times, preferably 4 to 10 times. As a result, a repeated exchange of liquor between bound and free liquor within the tub is accomplished. Overall, due to the intensive use of the washing liquid, an improved washing effect is achieved with a low use of water and detergent. The energy consumption is also kept very low when the washing liquid is heated because only a small amount of it is present in the tub.
In a generally preferred embodiment, the washing machine comprises a heating device for heating the washing liquid, the heating device being activated from step b) until a predetermined temperature of the washing liquid is reached.
In a preferred development of the method with heating of the washing liquid, the heating device is switched off during step c) or steps c) and the heating device is switched on again when step b) is repeated. In other words, the heating direction is always switched off during the spin cycle, because foam can form during this time. Heating when there is foam formation, however, carries the risk that the radiator can overheat because the heat transfer through the air bubbles is reduced. In order to avoid this disadvantage from the outset, the heating element is switched off during the spinning and switched on again in the suction phases.
In an overall advantageous embodiment, the washing machine further comprises a means for detecting foam formation, with foam formation monitoring being activated at least in steps c), with steps c) each ending after foam is detected. As a result, the drum can be rotated longer at the so-called high speed, which leads to a shortened or improved moisture penetration or washing effect if there is no foam formation. If the foam forms early, the spin phases can be shortened. Furthermore, when using high-foaming detergents, due to the detection of early foam formation, the spinning process can be automatically dispensed with and the conventional operating mode, i.e. reversing without spinning sections, can be switched over.
In an overall expedient embodiment of the method, the washing phase is followed by at least one rinsing phase in which the washing liquid is removed from the tub and fresh water is let into the tub to rinse the items to be washed. The washing liquid loaded with detergent and dirt is at least almost completely removed from the laundry. In the rinsing phase, too, the drum can be driven in the manner described above.
The invention also relates to a washing machine with a tub for holding washing liquid for treating laundry, a drum rotatably mounted in the tub with a horizontal or inclined axis, a motor for rotating the drum, a heater, a water inlet device, a sensor for detecting the liquid level in the tub, a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the washing liquid and a control device for controlling the individual phases of the selected washing program, wherein the control device is in operative connection with the sensors and is configured to rotate the flooding device, the heating element, the water inlet device and the motor to activate or deactivate or switch the drum on or off according to the method according to one of the above-mentioned embodiments or developments. The sensors are in sync with the control device Connection. A pressure sensor can be used as a sensor for the level, for example, which is connected to an air trap on the tub in the lower area by means of a hose line. Alternatively, conductivity sensors can also be attached to the tub wall, which then emit a signal to the control device when they are covered by washing liquid. Other sensors are also possible, the control device then having to be configured accordingly.
In an advantageous embodiment, the temperature sensor and the sensor for detecting the liquid level are arranged in the sump of the tub. As a result, the temperature of the very small amount of washing liquid can be detected reliably and precisely.
In an advantageous development, the washing machine comprises a means for foam detection. This can be a sensor which is arranged in the tub, preferably in the sump of the tub. A plausibility check of the detected motor current for the drive motor of the drum or a plausibility check of other sensor data can be used as a means for foam detection.

This is followed by the heating section Hz, in which the washing liquid is heated by means of the switched-on
This is followed by the rinsing section Sp, in which fresh water is let into the tub and the
A main problem in the process of damp cleaning is the uniform moisture penetration of the

In the washing phase WA, the soaking Df and heating Hz and post-washing Na without activating the heating element can also be mentioned as sub-steps.
