Definitions
- the present invention relates to a water sports device comprising a motor-driven watercraft with a vehicle hull on which a user rests with part of his body, which further comprises a swimming board made of a material that floats on water.
- the swimming board comprises a support area on which a user can at least partially rest.
- JP 2003 024470 A is an underwater propulsion machine with a drive unit attached to the underside of the main body. At the rear of the main body, a float is connected to the main body either in a pivoting or rigid manner.
- US 6 283 811 B1 is a steerable vehicle that can be towed by a watercraft using a connecting line.
- the steerable The vehicle is circular in plan view and consists of a floating body on the top of which a user can sit.
- a life raft which consists of a floating structure. At the front end of the floating structure there is a fastening means for a rope, which in turn is fastened to land and wound up.
- the life raft is designed in such a way that a person rescuing and/or a person to be rescued can lie completely on the top of the floating structure.
- Another life raft is from US R E28 916 E known.
- the life raft is inflatable and is designed to accommodate a person to be rescued completely on top of the raft when inflated.
- a handle 66 is provided at the front end of the raft, by means of which the raft can be pulled.
- EN 10 2007 032 392 A1 a holding system for securing a user to a watercraft is known.
- the fastening receptacle can be designed, for example, as a recess into which a fastening section designed as a projection or pin is inserted from above.
- a safety device can be provided to secure the fastening section in the fastening receptacle and - at least during the intended use of the water sports device - to prevent the swimming board and the watercraft from becoming accidentally separated.
- the support area of the swimming board is preferably designed such that the user rests on the swimming board at least with his chest and possibly also his stomach. With such a design of the swimming board, it is ensured that above all the part of the user's body that provides the greatest flow resistance in the water is arranged on the swimming board.
- the support area can be designed such that the user also rests on the swimming board with his legs. In this way, it is ensured that the user's entire body rests either on the top of the watercraft or on the support area of the swimming board, so that the flow resistance can be minimized. With this embodiment, particularly high final and cornering speeds of the water sports device can be achieved.
- the support area can be limited at the sides by retaining cheeks, which make it more difficult for the user to slide down while using the swimming board.
- the retaining cheeks preferably have an approximately cylindrical shape or a cylinder-like shape with a longitudinal extension that runs approximately in the direction of travel of the water sports device.
- the retaining cheeks protrude upwards above the main extension plane of the support area and support the user laterally while the sports device is in use.
- the retaining cheeks are preferably formed by inflatable chambers that are designed separately from the rest of the swimming board. Inflatable chambers are flexible, so that the user is held particularly gently and comfortably.
- the swimming board has two lateral runners on its underside, which extend at least over part of a longitudinal extension of the swimming board.
- This has the advantage that the flow resistance of the swimming board can be reduced, since the swimming board only rests on the water surface or is in contact with the water with a small part of its underside, namely the runners.
- the reduced flow resistance enables higher speeds of the watercraft or the entire water sports device to be achieved.
- the swimming board is attached to a watercraft with a water jet drive and a flow channel arranged centrally on the underside of the watercraft, the swimming board also has the advantage that the water jet accelerated in the flow channel can flow out unhindered at the rear of the watercraft and is guided between the runners along the underside of the swimming board. The accelerated water jet therefore does not hit the swimming board attached to the watercraft after flowing out of the flow channel. This enables particularly efficient propulsion of the watercraft or the entire sports equipment.
- the runners are formed at a rear end area of the underside of the swimming board.
- the swimming board then rests on the watercraft with the front end area and is attached to it in an articulated manner via the attachment section. Since the runners do not extend over the entire length of the swimming board, the flow resistance can be further reduced.
- the runners on the underside of the swimming board can be designed in different ways. It has proven to be particularly advantageous if the swimming board has a U-shaped cross-section in the area of the runners, with distal ends of the two legs of the U-shaped cross-section protruding into the water and forming part of the runners. According to this embodiment, the runners are therefore designed as an integral part in one piece with the swimming board. If the swimming board is made at least partially from an inflatable material, The runners can be part of a core made of inflatable material or can be formed by free-form cheeks that are attached to the core.
- the user rests with a part of his body (e.g. his chest, stomach and thighs) on the support area of the swimming board. With another part of his body (e.g. his forearms) the user supports himself on the top of the watercraft and holds on to the handles of the watercraft with his hands.
- the use of the swimming board significantly reduces the flow resistance of the user being pulled behind the watercraft, but without affecting the mobility, The dynamics and agility of the water sports equipment are limited.
- using the kickboard allows significantly higher top and cornering speeds to be achieved.
- using the water sports equipment is particularly energy-saving and fatigue-free for the user, even when travelling over a longer period of time and at high speeds.
- the motor watercraft 24 is in itself, for example, from the DE 195 11 850 A1 or the EN 100 09 278 A1 It has two handles 56 in the front area of the watercraft 24, which the user 42 can hold on to (see Figure 9 ).
- the watercraft 24 is preferably driven by a water jet drive, by means of which a water flow is generated through a flow channel on the underside of the watercraft 24, which water flow runs counter to the direction of travel of the watercraft 24.
- water is sucked in via an inlet opening on the underside of the hull of the watercraft 24, accelerated by means of a water screw arranged in the flow channel and discharged via an outlet opening 58 (cf. Figures 2 and 4 ) in the area of the stern of the watercraft 24.
- the retaining cheeks 68 are preferably designed as inflatable air chambers separate from the rest of the swimming board 2. Each of the air chambers has a volume of 10-15 liters, in particular 11-12 liters.
- the retaining cheeks 68 can be inflated and air can be released from the interior of the retaining cheeks 68 via valves 70 which are preferably formed on the outer walls of the retaining cheeks 68.

Description
The present invention relates to a water sports device comprising a motor-driven watercraft with a vehicle hull on which a user rests with part of his body, which further comprises a swimming board made of a material that floats on water. The swimming board comprises a support area on which a user can at least partially rest.
Such swimming boards are known in various designs from the prior art. In a first known design, the swimming board is relatively small and serves as a swimming aid, especially for children and non-swimmers. The user rests their hands and/or part of their forearms on the support area of the swimming board and performs swimming movements with their legs. In other known designs, the swimming board is designed, for example, as a surfboard for windsurfing or surfing or as a stand-up paddling (SUP) board.

When operating the well-known motor watercraft, where the user holds on to the watercraft and is pulled over or through the water by it, it has been shown that, due to the flow resistance, forces act on the user's lower body and legs in particular, which threaten to pull the user backwards away from the watercraft. The user must hold on to the handles to counteract these forces. This can be very strenuous and tiring, especially during longer and faster journeys.
It is therefore the object of the present invention to create a way to reduce the forces acting on the user during the intended operation of the watercraft, so that the watercraft can be used as energy-saving and fatigue-free as possible, even during longer and faster journeys.
This object is achieved by the water sports device with the features of claim 1. The subclaims relate to advantageous embodiments and further developments of the present invention.
Within the scope of the present invention, it is therefore proposed to reduce the flow resistance of the user by arranging at least part of the user's body, which was previously in the water, on the support area of the swimming board, which is attached to the watercraft in an articulated manner. The watercraft and the swimming board together form the water sports device according to the invention. The articulated connection of the swimming board to the watercraft means that the maneuverability and agility of the water sports device are fully maintained. At the same time, a large part of the forces previously acting on the user during operation of the watercraft are shifted to the swimming board and transferred to the watercraft via the articulated attachment section of the swimming board. In addition, the flow resistance can be reduced overall by a streamlined design of the underside of the swimming board resting on the water. As a result, significantly higher speeds can be achieved with the water sports device according to the invention with the same performance of the watercraft. The user of the water sports equipment is subjected to significantly lower current forces, so that the watercraft can be used in a way that saves energy and is fatigue-free, even during longer and faster journeys.
Many different designs of the fastening section are conceivable, with which the swimming board is attached to the watercraft in an articulated manner. For example, it would be conceivable for the swimming board to have a front support section on which the fastening section is arranged and which is designed to rest on an upper side of the watercraft when the swimming board is attached to the watercraft. For this purpose, it can be provided that a corresponding fastening receptacle is formed on the upper side of the hull of the watercraft, into which the fastening section of the swimming board engages. The front end of the swimming board is above of the watercraft and only the rear end, possibly also at least part of a middle area of the swimming board, are in the water. The fastening receptacle can be designed, for example, as a recess into which a fastening section designed as a projection or pin is inserted from above. In addition, a safety device can be provided to secure the fastening section in the fastening receptacle and - at least during the intended use of the water sports device - to prevent the swimming board and the watercraft from becoming accidentally separated.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, it is proposed that the fastening section is designed for detachable fastening of the swimming board to the watercraft. This enables a simple and quick separation between the swimming board and the watercraft in order to be able to transport the water sports equipment in individual parts and to facilitate transport. The articulated connection of the swimming board to the watercraft is preferably achieved by means of a quick or snap fastener, which can be easily closed and opened even in the water with cold, damp and/or clammy fingers.
The support area of the swimming board is preferably designed such that the user rests on the swimming board at least with his chest and possibly also his stomach. With such a design of the swimming board, it is ensured that above all the part of the user's body that provides the greatest flow resistance in the water is arranged on the swimming board. The support area can be designed such that the user also rests on the swimming board with his legs. In this way, it is ensured that the user's entire body rests either on the top of the watercraft or on the support area of the swimming board, so that the flow resistance can be minimized. With this embodiment, particularly high final and cornering speeds of the water sports device can be achieved. Alternatively, it is conceivable that the support area at a rear end area of the swimming board merges into two lateral leg supports sloping towards the water, on which the user rests on the user's upper or lower legs and between which a clamping area is formed that can be positioned between the user's thighs and clamped in between. This allows the user to hold on to the swimming board with their thighs. In this embodiment, the user's feet and - depending on the specific design of the swimming board - possibly also their lower legs are in the water and can provide support when controlling the water sports device. This embodiment therefore enables particularly sporty, agile and maneuverable operation of the water sports device.
Alternatively or additionally, the support area can be limited at the sides by retaining cheeks, which make it more difficult for the user to slide down while using the swimming board. The retaining cheeks preferably have an approximately cylindrical shape or a cylinder-like shape with a longitudinal extension that runs approximately in the direction of travel of the water sports device. The retaining cheeks protrude upwards above the main extension plane of the support area and support the user laterally while the sports device is in use. The retaining cheeks are preferably formed by inflatable chambers that are designed separately from the rest of the swimming board. Inflatable chambers are flexible, so that the user is held particularly gently and comfortably.
According to an advantageous development of the present invention, it is proposed that the fastening section has a joint section which has two axes of rotation running parallel to one another, with a first axis of rotation being articulated to the swimming board and the other axis of rotation being assigned to the watercraft. Preferably, the axes of rotation have a substantially horizontal extension when the swimming board is attached to the watercraft. The joint section therefore makes it possible for the watercraft and the swimming board to be at different heights or for the height of the two to change relative to one another during operation of the water sports device. This enables the water sports device to be driven in a particularly sporty and agile manner, particularly when there are waves on the water surface, which is Using the watercraft without a kickboard attached, i.e. with the user's body dragging in the water, is very similar, except that the forces acting on the user are significantly lower.
It is also conceivable to design the fastening section in the manner of a universal joint. In this context, it is proposed in particular that the fastening section is designed to attach the swimming board to the watercraft in an articulated manner about two mutually perpendicular articulated axes. It is conceivable that one of the axes of rotation of the articulated section forms a first articulated axis of the fastening section and a further axis, which is not one of the axes of rotation of the articulated section and which has a substantially vertical extension when the swimming board is attached to the watercraft, forms the other articulated axis of the fastening section.
According to an advantageous development of the invention, it is proposed that the front end area of the swimming board is angled upwards by a few degrees, preferably by 5°, compared to the rest of the swimming board. When the motor watercraft, which is articulated to the front end of the swimming board, accelerates, its bow lifts slightly out of the water or its stern sinks slightly into the water. Overall, this results in the watercraft being inclined by a few degrees, in particular by around 3° to 10°. The angled front end area of the swimming board is adapted to the inclination of the watercraft during operation and thus prevents the inclined watercraft from transferring large bending moments to the front end area of the swimming board.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is proposed that the swimming board has tear-off edges on its underside resting on the water, which protrude downwards over a surface extension of the underside and protrude into the water and which each have an extension direction with a component directed transversely to a longitudinal extension of the swimming board. The tear-off edges create a suction effect, which is created by the water jet flowing under the swimming board and which causes the swimming board can pull downwards. This is done by sucking in air from the side over the tear-off edges and directing it under the swimming board into the area of the water jet. There the air causes a flow separation, which reduces the suction effect. Several tear-off edges can be arranged lengthwise one behind the other and at a distance from each other. The last tear-off edges are arranged about 5 cm in front of the rear end of the swimming board. Two slanted tear-off edges can be put together to form a V-shape, with one tip of the V pointing forwards.
It is particularly advantageous if the swimming board is at least partially made of an inflatable material. In particular, a core of the swimming board can be made of the inflatable material. The outer shape of the swimming board can then be formed by free-form cheeks that are attached to the core made of inflatable material from the outside. The free-form cheeks are preferably made of a plastic and are attached to the core made of inflatable material, for example by gluing or clipping. The free-form cheeks thus form at least part of the outer skin of the swimming board. Air can be pumped into the interior of the inflatable material or the air can be removed from the interior via a valve arranged in the outer skin of the swimming board. The valve is preferably arranged on the top of the swimming board, in particular at the rear end area. It has been shown that an inflatable material that is particularly suitable for the swimming board is a so-called drop stitch fabric material. Drop stitch material enables the realization of inflatable swimming boards that are particularly dimensionally stable when inflated. The principle of the drop stitch construction is based on connecting the top and bottom insides of the swimming board with vertical connecting fibers and keeping them in the desired shape even under high internal pressure. This creates a fabric that is very tear-resistant and dimensionally stable due to the large number of knots and can withstand particularly high loads, but can still be folded up compactly when not inflated. An internal pressure of around 100 kPa (1 bar) to 175 kPa (1.75 bar) can be achieved in the drop stitch material. Different layers of drop stitch fabric can be glued and vulcanized with PVC of different qualities.
According to the invention, the swimming board has two lateral runners on its underside, which extend at least over part of a longitudinal extension of the swimming board. This has the advantage that the flow resistance of the swimming board can be reduced, since the swimming board only rests on the water surface or is in contact with the water with a small part of its underside, namely the runners. The reduced flow resistance enables higher speeds of the watercraft or the entire water sports device to be achieved. If the swimming board is attached to a watercraft with a water jet drive and a flow channel arranged centrally on the underside of the watercraft, the swimming board also has the advantage that the water jet accelerated in the flow channel can flow out unhindered at the rear of the watercraft and is guided between the runners along the underside of the swimming board. The accelerated water jet therefore does not hit the swimming board attached to the watercraft after flowing out of the flow channel. This enables particularly efficient propulsion of the watercraft or the entire sports equipment.
It is particularly preferred if the runners are formed at a rear end area of the underside of the swimming board. The swimming board then rests on the watercraft with the front end area and is attached to it in an articulated manner via the attachment section. Since the runners do not extend over the entire length of the swimming board, the flow resistance can be further reduced.
The runners on the underside of the swimming board can be designed in different ways.
In order to facilitate the transport of the swimming board and its articulated attachment to the watercraft, it is proposed that at least one handle is arranged on the side in the front end area of the swimming board. Preferably, a handle is arranged on opposite sides in the front end area. In order to improve the feel and water resistance of the handle, it is preferably made of neoprene. The handles are preferably arranged on the sides of the swimming board in such a way that they are arranged outside the water, i.e. above the water surface, when the swimming board or water sports device is used as intended.
The support area on the top of the swimming board preferably has a surface which, due to its shape and/or material properties, prevents the user from slipping and/or water from accumulating during use of the swimming board or water sports device. It is particularly preferred if the support area has longitudinal ribs with a support surface that is curved outwards in cross-section. The longitudinal ribs extend longitudinally parallel to one another over at least part of the top of the swimming board. A towing handle and/or a towing eye can be arranged on the rear end area of the swimming board, via which other water sports enthusiasts with or without swimming equipment (for example another swimming board, an air mattress, a boat) can be pulled behind the water sports device according to the invention.
During the intended operation of the water sports device according to the invention, the user rests with a part of his body (e.g. his chest, stomach and thighs) on the support area of the swimming board. With another part of his body (e.g. his forearms) the user supports himself on the top of the watercraft and holds on to the handles of the watercraft with his hands. The use of the swimming board significantly reduces the flow resistance of the user being pulled behind the watercraft, but without affecting the mobility, The dynamics and agility of the water sports equipment are limited. On the contrary, using the kickboard allows significantly higher top and cornering speeds to be achieved. In addition, thanks to the kickboard, using the water sports equipment is particularly energy-saving and fatigue-free for the user, even when travelling over a longer period of time and at high speeds.
