Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a system for displaying tide times making it possible to indicate at least the time of the next high tide.
  • Mechanisms for displaying the tides have already been proposed. However, these mechanisms generally depend on another mechanism such as, for example, a moon phase display, which causes difficulties in producing a reliable display.
  • Such a mechanism is disclosed for example in the document EP 1 729 186 in which a correction device simultaneously regulates the mobile of the tides and the wheel of the moon phase, which makes the assembly very cumbersome.
  • a correction device simultaneously regulates the mobile of the tides and the wheel of the moon phase, which makes the assembly very cumbersome.
  • it is the lunation cycle that controls the movement of the tidal mobile at the rate of one tooth every day, which prevents having the effective time of the next high tide as the tides change. daily.
  • the correction is made when the finger is in front of a tooth of the star wheel, there is a risk of jamming because of the movement in opposition of one relative to the other.
  • the object of the invention is to propose a dedicated tide time display system in order to improve its display reliability and to simplify its correction and whose improved compactness facilitates its integration into a timepiece without influencing the rate of the watch movement or disturb the other display mechanisms.
  • the invention relates to a system for displaying tide times comprising a display device whose display element indicates the time of at least the next high tide, in which the display device comprises a mechanism with several stable positions allowing, with each jump between two stable positions, the advancement of the display element by a predetermined displacement in order to be able to indicate, by instantaneous jump, the time of the next high tide, the mechanism with several stable positions being supported by the body of the display element in order to limit the number of parts of the mechanism.
  • the display system is completely independent and can be easily coupled, for example, to the counting train of a watch movement.
  • the body of the display element can be likened to a secondary bridge in order to support the mechanism at several stable positions and thus limit the maximum space required for the display system.
  • the display element being an instantaneous jump, the next tide time will always be correctly displayed, unlike dragging displays which continuously modify the tide time.
  • the system advantageously avoids any bracing or snagging of its parts regardless of its position and orientation, even during the phases of correction of the tide display or during the correction of another display of the watch movement such as the date or time.
  • the invention may also include one or more of the following optional features, taken alone or in combination.
  • the mechanism with several stable positions may comprise a control member pivotally mounted on the body of the display element and intended to impose a movement relative to a star assembly - jumper mounted on a pivot integral with the body of the display element in order to achieve a jump between two stable positions.
  • the control member is preferably coupled to a watch movement in order to count the duration of the tides.
  • the control member preferably imposes a relative movement after each high tide.
  • the mechanism with several stable positions may comprise a crown mounted integral with the body of the display element coaxially with the control member and comprising internal toothing in which meshes a pinion integral with the star-jumper assembly in order to guiding the rotation of the star - jumper assembly around the control device.
  • the star - jumper - pinion assembly forms a satellite driving the display element (acting as a planet carrier) between the inside of the crown (forming an outer sun gear) and the control member (forming a sun gear interior which is not in permanent contact with the star - jumper - pinion assembly).
  • the display element may be a disc with a rotating high tide marker inside a twelve-hour graduated limb to simplify the display at a high tide time (also called lunar noon) and a tide time. low (also called lunar midnight).
  • This configuration makes the correction of the display element faster by not distinguishing the morning from the solar afternoon and makes the determination of the high tide time more precise by displaying a limb of twelve hours over three hundred and sixty degrees. .
  • the predetermined displacement of the display element can correspond to a variation of substantially twenty-five minutes and fourteen seconds which corresponds to a change in the high tide time every twelve hours, twenty-five minutes and fourteen seconds which represents the average of the durations observed between two high tides.
  • the display system may further comprise a correction device coupled to the display device by a differential member in order to be able to correct the position of the display element at any time. It is therefore understood that the star/jumper/pinion assembly can thus be moved either by the correction device or by the control member.
  • the differential member may be formed by the crown of the mechanism with several stable positions further comprising external toothing in order to control a relative movement between the crown and the star/jumper assembly intended to move the display element.
  • the display system may include a correction gear train coupled to the external toothing of the crown and controlled by a correction member in order to modify the position of the display element.
  • the corrective device such as a crown protruding from the timepiece, allows the user to adjust the display element to the effective time of the next high tide of the place where he resides. .
  • the invention also relates to a timepiece comprising a timepiece movement intended to display at least one time value, characterized in that it further comprises a system for displaying the tide times as presented above.
  • the display device comprises a transmission train coupled to the watch movement in order to drive the mechanism to several stable positions.
  • orientations are the orientations of the timepiece.
  • the terms “upper”, “lower”, “left”, “right”, “above”, “below”, “forward” and “backward” generally mean relative to the wear of the timepiece.
  • timepiece is meant all types of instruments for measuring or counting time such as clocks, clocks and watches.
  • watch movement is meant all types of mechanism capable of counting the time whether they are powered based on mechanical energy (for example a barrel) and/or electricity (for example a battery).
  • the invention relates to a timepiece 1 comprising a watch movement 3 intended to display at least one time value 2 (hour and minute hands are represented on the figure 1 ) and a system 5 for displaying tide times 4 as presented below.
  • the system 5 for displaying the tide times 4 is coupled to the watch movement 3 in order to drive the elements of the system 5 for displaying the tide times 4.
  • the display element 7 of the system 5 for displaying the tide times 4 is preferably a disk 6 with a high tide mark rotating inside a limb 8 graduated over twelve hours (mounted on the dial 9 at the figure 1 ) in order to simplify the display at a time 4 of high tide and a time of low tide.
  • This configuration makes the correction of the display element 7 faster by not distinguishing the morning from the solar afternoon and makes the determination of the high tide time 4 more precise by being displayed on a limb 8 of twelve hours at three hundred and sixty degrees.
  • the timepiece 1 comprises a correction member 10 (illustrated in figure 1 by a crown projecting from the case of the timepiece 1) allowing the user to adjust the display element 7 to the actual time of the next high tide in the place where he resides.
  • the correction member 10 can be located at different places on the case 1 and it can also be integrated into another control member such as a winding and/or time-setting crown.
  • the system 5 for displaying the tide times 4 comprises a display device 11 making it possible to move the disk 6 of the display element 7 to indicate the time 4 of at least the next high tide.
  • the disc 6 of the display element 7 comprises a triangular mark to indicate only the schedule 4 of the next high tide and, incidentally, that of the next low tide by an indication substantially symmetrical with respect to the center of the disk 6.
  • the next low tide will occur approximately six hours and 12 minutes after the high tide schedule 4, which corresponds to an indication substantially shifted by one hundred and eighty degrees on limb 8 with respect to that indicated for time 4 of high tide.
  • the display device 11 comprises a mechanism 13 with several stable positions allowing, at each jump between two stable positions, the advance of the display element 7 by a predetermined movement in order to be able to indicate, by instantaneous jump, the time 4 of the next high tide.
  • the mechanism 13 with several stable positions is supported by the body of the display element 7 in order to limit the number of parts of the mechanism 13.
  • the display system 5 is completely independent and can be easily coupled for example to the gear train (not shown) for counting a watch movement 3.
  • the body of the display element 7, that is to say the disc 6 at the figure 1 can be likened to a secondary bridge in order to support the mechanism 13 in several stable positions and thus minimize the space necessary for the display system 5 .
  • the display element 7 being an instantaneous jump, the schedule 4 of the next tide will always be correctly displayed, unlike the dragging displays which continuously modify the tide schedule.
  • the mechanism 13 with several stable positions comprises a control member 15 which is pivotally mounted on the body of the display element 7 such as the underside of the disc 6.
  • the control member 15 is mounted substantially in the center of the underside of the disc 6 and comprises a mobile 16 mounted on the pivot A integral with the disc 6.
  • the mobile 16 mainly comprises a finger 17 and a pinion 18 integral in rotation.
  • the pinion 18 is coupled to a transmission cog 19, itself coupled to the watch movement 3 in order to drive the mechanism 13 to several stable positions.
  • the control member 15 is coupled to the hour wheel (not shown) of the watch movement 3 in order to count the duration of the tides by performing two rotations per day.
  • the finger 17 is intended by contact to impose a relative displacement on a star 21 - jumper 20 assembly, that is to say to impose, by contact against one of the seven teeth of the star 21, a relative displacement between the star 21 and jumper 20 by elastic displacement of the latter.
  • the star 21 is mounted on a pivot B secured to the body of the display element 7 such as the underside of the disc 6 while the jumper 20 is fixed, in this example and in a conventional manner, using a pivot C and a screw D to the body of the display element 7 such as the underside of the disk 6 in order to make a jump between two stable positions, that is to say between two adjacent positions in which the jumper 20 is located between two teeth of the star 21.
  • the jumper 20 or another type of similar elastic element can also be manufactured in one piece with the display element 7 for example using a three-dimensional powder or liquid printing process, a LIGA process (sometimes called electroforming, i.e. a photolithography of a mold followed by electrolytic deposition in the cavity of the mold) or even a DRIE process (that is to say deep reactive ion etching comprising photolithography of a mask followed by substantially anisotropic etching at through the holes in the mask).
  • a LIGA process sometimes called electroforming, i.e. a photolithography of a mold followed by electrolytic deposition in the cavity of the mold
  • a DRIE process that is to say deep reactive ion etching comprising photolithography of a mask followed by substantially anisotropic etching at through the holes in the mask.
  • the star 21 is surmounted and integral in rotation with a pinion 22 with thirteen teeth.
  • the control member 15 preferably imposes a relative displacement after each high tide.
  • the finger 17 is thus synchronized with the hands of the time value 2 as well as with the position of the star 21 with respect to the disc 6. It is preferred according to the invention that the instantaneous jump of the tide time 4 is done directly after the arrival of high tide, i.e. typically after a period of between 1 second and 5 minutes such as 5 seconds, 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 45 seconds, 1 minute, 1.5 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes or 4 minutes.
  • the mechanism 13 with several stable positions comprises a crown 23 mounted integral with the body of the display element 7 such as the underside of the disc 6 coaxially with the control member 15 .
  • the crown 23 comprises an internal set of teeth 24 of fifty-three teeth in which the pinion 22 integral with the star 21 meshes in order to guide the rotation of the star 21 - jumper 20 assembly around the control member 15 .
  • the star 21 - pinion 22 assembly forms a satellite driving the display element 7 (acting as a planet carrier) between the inside of the ring gear 23 (forming an outer sun gear) and the control member 15 ( forming an inner planetary which is not in permanent contact with the star 21).
  • the predetermined displacement of the instantaneous jump preferably corresponds to a variation of substantially twenty-five minutes and fourteen seconds, which corresponds to a change in the schedule 4 of the high tide every twelve hours, twenty-five minutes and fourteen seconds. Indeed, this value represents the average of the durations observed between two high tides.
  • This principle of display is the simplest way to view the schedule 4 of the tides which take place at the same time but not in the same place. In reality, the tides represent "big waves" or consecutive waves which break along the coasts so that the high tide, that is to say the highest level reached by the sea during a cycle tidal, varies according to the shape of the coastline. Moreover, the duration of the interval which separates two tides is not always the same.
  • the display system 5 further comprises a correction device 25 coupled to the display device 11 by a differential member 27 in order to be able to correct the position of the display element 7 at any time, advantageously avoiding any bowing or attachment of watch movement parts 3 regardless of their position and orientation. It is therefore understood that the star 21 - jumper 20 - pinion 22 assembly can thus be moved either by the correction device 25 or by the control member 15 .
  • the differential member 27 is advantageously formed by the crown 23 of the mechanism 13 with several stable positions.
  • the crown 23 thus further comprises an external toothing 26 of seventy-six teeth in order to control a relative movement between the crown 23 and the star 21 - jumper 20 assembly intended to move the display element 7 .
  • the display system 5 comprises a correction gear train 28 which is coupled to the outer toothing 28 of the crown 23 and controlled by the correction member 10 such as a crown at the figure 1 to change the position of the display element 7. It is therefore understood that outside of the correction periods, the crown 23 is held stationary by the correction gear train 28, in particular by its friction wheel set 29 and the display element 7 is moved only when the control member 15 comes into contact with the star 21 - pinion 22 assembly. The finger 17 comes into contact every 1.035 turns with the star 21 in the absence of correction. Disc 6 is moved according to the duration of twenty-five minutes and fourteen seconds to indicate the next high tide.
  • the correction member 10 is activated so as to couple it to the gear train 28 for correction.
  • the movement of the correction member 10 therefore makes it possible to drive the correction gear train 28 by notably countering the friction of its friction wheel set 29 and thus controlling the rotation of the ring gear 23 by meshing of its external toothing 26.
  • the star 21 being blocked by its jumper 20, it cannot rotate. It is therefore the disk 6 secured to the crown 23 which will be moved directly in order to be able to adjust the display element 7 to the actual time of the next high tide.
  • the device 25 makes it possible to make corrections without risk of buttressing or snagging of the interacting parts, of disturbing the other displays or of influencing the rate of the watch movement 3. If, during the correction, the star 21 encounters the finger 17, this has the simple consequence of causing the star 21 to pivot and, incidentally, of modifying the speed of movement of the disk 6 for a short time without this variation of speed is necessarily perceptible to the user.
  • the invention is not limited to the example illustrated in figures 1 to 5 and other embodiments and variations will be apparent to those skilled in the art. It is in particular possible to change the differential member 27 such as for example by an epicyclic gear train with several satellites without losing the advantages of the invention. It also goes without saying that the standard mechanism can be constructed differently without changing its operating principle by adding or eliminating mobiles or other elements in the gear train, differential or star system.
  • the size of the illustrated display system 5 is advantageously small, but depending on the space available for the display or for other reasons, the gear ratios of the mobiles can also vary.
  • the teeth of the mechanism 13 are adapted to the average duration of twelve hours, twenty-five minutes and fourteen seconds.
  • the teeth of the mechanism 13 could be modified to perform an instantaneous jump according to a different duration without departing from the scope of the invention.
  • the limb 8 could be graduated according to another scale such as for example according to twenty-four hours without losing the advantages of the invention but only having to adapt the mechanism 13 and the display element 7.
  • the tide display can be centered instead of off-center with respect to the time display, and it can be done by a hand instead of a disc.
