Definitions
- the firefighter uses the fire extinguishing nozzle at the end of the water hose to fight the source of the fire by spraying extinguishing fluid onto the source of the fire under high pressure. If the firefighter intends to withdraw from the source of the fire, the fire extinguishing nozzle can be actuated in such a way that the extinguishing fluid no longer leaves the fire extinguishing nozzle almost undetected, but rather an extinguishing fluid wall is formed, which protects the firefighter from being adversely affected by flames and/or heat when retreating.
- the risk can increase even further if one or even several additional extinguishing nozzles are put into operation, all of which are supplied by a feed pump from the extinguishing fluid tank. Because of this, the emptying speed of the extinguishing fluid tank can suddenly increase sharply. In this respect, it can happen that the firefighter no longer has the time necessary to form the extinguishing fluid wall.
- a fire extinguishing device is known with an extinguishing gun connected via an extinguishing agent hose, a sensor in the form of a thermal imaging camera or other heat detection device being mounted on the extinguishing gun and the optical axis of the sensor running approximately parallel to the nozzle pipe axis of the extinguishing agent gun.
- the sensor can be connected to a receiving device via a radio connection via an antenna.
- the receiving device can either be a display arranged on the extinguishing gun or an image generating device worn by the firefighter on the helmet, to which the data is transmitted via radio connection.
- the DE 35 17 284 C2 describes a device for dispensing an extinguishing agent mixed with an additive.
- the device comprises an extinguishing agent gun at the end of a hose line, on which a button is arranged, with which the firefighter operating the extinguishing gun can directly activate a premixer for adding additive to the extinguishing agent.
- the button is connected to a control device via lines positioned in the hose line.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a new generic control device for operating a fire extinguishing system, which, with a simple design implementation, offers increased safety for the firefighters located at the fire extinguishing nozzle.
- the information shown in the display based on the radio signals is simultaneously displayed in a further display, which is located in the area of the operations center.
- the firefighter serving in the operations center always has control over the information appearing on the firefighter's display at the source of the fire.
- the radio connection can also be designed to be bidirectional, so that radio signals can also be received by means of the radio device connected to the control line in the end region of the extinguishing nozzle, which are emitted by the radio device carried by the firefighter.
- this can be used to establish a voice communication connection and/or even a voice control device to the operations center.
- the multi-way valve is expediently a multi-way valve whose pressure-dependent switching point is determined by an elastic element, for example a spring, and/or by magnetic means.
- the switching position of the multi-way valve can also be shown on the display if necessary.
- Fig. 1 shows a typical fire brigade situation when fighting a fire that broke out in the basement of a building.
- a firefighter goes into the basement of the building with the hose 3 and releases extinguishing fluid via the extinguishing nozzle 4 to immediately fight the fire.
- the extinguishing fluid is obtained from a tank located in the fire engine 1. This makes it possible to start fighting the source of the fire immediately after the fire engine 1 arrives.
- other firefighters in the area are looking for an unlimited source of extinguishing fluid 2, such as. B. a fire hydrant, a lake 27 or a watercourse. This can take a considerable amount of time.
- the hose 3 located at the source of the fire can then be supplied with extinguishing fluid from the unlimited extinguishing fluid source.
- a fire engine 1 usually has several hoses provided, which can also be used at the same time if necessary.
- Fig. 1 For the sake of clarity, only a second hose is shown with an extinguishing nozzle arranged at its end. This extinguishing nozzle is operated by another firefighter.
- the firefighter can manually adjust the extinguishing nozzle 4 so that the extinguishing fluid releases the extinguishing nozzle 4 with a small opening angle. This allows maximum extinguishing effect on the source of the fire to be achieved. However, if the source of the fire spreads despite the fire being contested and threatens the firefighter, the firefighter can manually adjust the extinguishing nozzle 4 in such a way that the extinguishing fluid releases the extinguishing nozzle 4 with a very large opening angle. This allows the firefighter to protect themselves from fire and/or extreme heat and leave the building safely. Both modes of operation of the extinguishing nozzle 4 are in Fig. 1 shown schematically. If there is an unforeseen interruption in the supply of extinguishing fluid, the firefighter can suddenly find themselves in a life-threatening situation because they can no longer release extinguishing fluid with a very large opening angle to protect themselves.
- Fig. 2 shows a simplified schematic diagram of the control device of the fire extinguishing system according to the invention.
- the components surrounded by the dashed line are preferably located in the area of the fire extinguishing device, ie in the area of the fire engine 1.
- the components include a controller 11 with a plurality of control and/or signal lines (dotted lines) which are connected to different functional components of the overall system keep in touch.
- a second supply line 9 is provided, which is connected to a supply line and supplies the feed pump 5 with extinguishing fluid from the stationary extinguishing fluid source 2.
- the first feed line 7 and the second feed line 9 open into a preferably pressure-controlled multi-way valve 10, which is connected upstream of the feed pump 5.
- the multi-way valve 10 thus ensures that the inflow to the feed pump 5 from the tank 8 is switched over depending on the pressure present on the second feed line 9 the stationary extinguishing fluid source 2.
- the pressure control 30 of the multi-way valve 10 is in Fig. 2 only shown schematically.
- the output of the feed pump 5 is also connected to a return line 33, via which, also controlled via a valve 34 connected to the controller 11, extinguishing fluid from the stationary extinguishing fluid source 2 can be returned to the tank 8 in order to refill it.
- Reference number 29 designates a device for controlling the feed pump or a so-called “pressure governor”. This is able to adapt the pump performance to the required output quantities of extinguishing fluid. For example, by putting another hose or another into operation Extinguishing nozzle causes a pressure drop, the device 29 for feeding pump control controls the pump power in such a way that the latter is increased in order to adjust the delivery pressure of extinguishing fluid in the respective hose back to the previous level.
- Reference number 26 in Fig. 2 denotes a further pump which is intended to determine the pressure conditions in the second supply line 9 from the stationary extinguishing fluid source 2 to the feed pump 5, provided that a non-pressurized extinguishing fluid source 2 has been found.
- the pump 26 is preferably a type of air pump or suction pump, which is intended to influence the pressure conditions in the second supply line 9 in such a way that extinguishing fluid, for example from a lower-lying lake or watercourse, is delivered via the supply line 9 to (or possibly also higher located) multi-way valve 10 flows.
- the pressure conditions created by the pump 26 in the second supply line 9 at the entrance to the multi-way valve 10 are used to trigger the switching process of the same. This allows the control device to be switched automatically as soon as a local extinguishing fluid source 2 has been found and connected to the fire extinguishing device.
- the controller 11 is connected via control line means 12 to a radio device 13 connected to the control line 12 in the area of the extinguishing nozzle 4.
- the control line means 12 can either be attached to the hose 3 on its casing or integrated into the hose wall.
- the control line means 12 is preferably an electrical conductor for transmitting electrical signals, data and/or for supplying energy.
- the radio device is preferably a radio module for data transmission between transmitter and receiver over a short distance, such as WPAN or WLAN. This type of radio transmission technology aims to preferably cover the working area around the radio device 13.
- a radio device 14 is provided to be carried by the fire brigade person operating the extinguishing nozzle 4 and is capable of being used by the radio device 13 emitted radio signals 15 to be received and displayed in a display 16 to be carried by the firefighter operating the extinguishing nozzle 4, preferably in the form of a head-up display.
- data transmission is only carried out in one direction, as indicated by the Fig. 2 visible directional arrow of the radio signals 15 is illustrated.
- the display is 16, as in Fig. 2 , is designed as a head-up display in the firefighter's helmet 6, this offers the firefighter particularly good visibility when on duty with regard to information coming from the operations center, especially under often difficult viewing conditions, e.g. B. caused by poor lighting conditions, smoke, soot or the like.
- a battery (not shown) can be provided on the extinguishing nozzle 4 or in the area thereof.
- the radio device 13 can also be supplied with electrical energy via the control means 12 or via additional electrical energy-carrying line means (also not shown), which also run in or on the hose 3.
- the information displayed in the display 16 can be displayed, preferably at the same time, in a display 17 of the fire extinguishing device or the fire engine 1, so that the operator on the fire engine simultaneously sees the data or information transmitted to the firefighter at the extinguishing nozzle 4.
- Fig. 3 shows a further embodiment of the communication bridge between extinguishing nozzle 4 and display 16.
- a data interface 18 can also be provided, which allows an additional cable connection from the control line 12 to display 16.
- at least one, preferably two plug contact connections 18a, 18b can be provided as the data interface 18.
- the additional data interface 18 only serves as a backup position in the event of an emergency.
- the display 16 provided as a head-up display in the firefighter's helmet 6 has a (in Fig. 3 (not shown) energy source, e.g. B. a rechargeable battery connected.
- the short radio transmission bridge according to the invention in the area of the extinguishing nozzle 4 makes it possible in a simple manner to provide additional data transmission via a communication cable 19 as a backup position.
- FIG. 4a shows the switching position of the multi-way valve 10 when the feed pump 5 is supplied with extinguishing fluid from the tank 8.
- the supply of extinguishing fluid from the tank 8 must be maintained until the feed pump 5 is supplied via a stationary extinguishing fluid source 2.
- the second inlet 9 of the feed pump 5 is connected to the connection of the hydrant 28.
- extinguishing water from a hydrant has a pressure of approx. 3 bar.
- the extinguishing water will therefore be available at this pressure at the multi-way valve 10 via the second supply line 9 after the hydrant 28 has been opened.
- the pressure causes the multi-way valve 10 to switch from the in Fig. 4a into the in Fig. 4b switching position shown.
- the pump 26 is particularly important when there is no hydrant 28, but only a body of water, such as. B. a lake 27 is available. It is often the case that the water surface of the lake is lower than the fire engine 1, so that by actuating the pump 26, the pressure conditions in the second supply line 9 are influenced in such a way that the extinguishing water from the lake 27 can reach the feed pump 5 via the multi-way valve 10 .
- an elastic element 25 for example a spring, can be provided, by means of which the multi-way valve 10 is in the in Fig. 4a Switch position shown is kept biased.
- a magnetic element (not shown) can also be provided for pressure control of the multi-way valve 10.

Description
The present invention relates to a fire extinguishing system comprising a control device for operating the fire extinguishing system according to the preamble of
During a fire extinguishing operation, the fire engine is first brought into position and the source of the fire is first fought with extinguishing fluid, which is located in a tank of the fire engine. This allows the fire extinguishing operation to begin as quickly as possible. At the same time, since the tank only allows a limited volume and therefore only a limited time for extinguishing, a further source of extinguishing fluid is being sought. These are usually permanently installed hydrants, streams or lakes. These offer an unlimited volume of extinguishing fluid. However, finding and connecting a corresponding source of extinguishing fluid to the fire extinguishing system of the fire engine takes a certain amount of time.
The firefighter uses the fire extinguishing nozzle at the end of the water hose to fight the source of the fire by spraying extinguishing fluid onto the source of the fire under high pressure. If the firefighter is no longer able to form an extinguishing fluid wall due to an abrupt interruption of the extinguishing fluid supply, there is a significant risk to the firefighter's life and limb. As a result, the firefighter must always know how much extinguishing fluid is still in the tank and whether there is already a connection to another source of extinguishing fluid. This is the only way to ensure that the firefighter can withdraw from the source of the fire in time if necessary.
During use, the risk can increase even further if one or even several additional extinguishing nozzles are put into operation, all of which are supplied by a feed pump from the extinguishing fluid tank. Because of this, the emptying speed of the extinguishing fluid tank can suddenly increase sharply. In this respect, it can happen that the firefighter no longer has the time necessary to form the extinguishing fluid wall.
Extinguishing fluid is extinguishing water or a mixture of extinguishing water and an additive in the form of foam or similar.

The object of the present invention is to provide a new generic control device for operating a fire extinguishing system, which, with a simple design implementation, offers increased safety for the firefighters located at the fire extinguishing nozzle.
The above object is achieved by a fire extinguishing system according to
The data is transmitted from the controller to the area of the extinguishing nozzle via control line means and only there is a radio transmission via a Very short distance from a point in the area of the extinguishing nozzle to the firefighter's helmet, disruptions due to influences such as reinforced concrete ceilings and / or walls or the like can be avoided particularly effectively. At the same time it is convenient because no cables or anything like that have to be used. According to the invention, the current filling status of the tank with extinguishing fluid and/or the remaining time for the release of extinguishing fluid from the tank is shown in a display.
The fact that a head-up display is expediently provided as the display means that the information from the operations center is always particularly good for the firefighters on duty, especially under often difficult viewing conditions, for example. B. ensured by particularly poor lighting conditions, smoke or soot.
According to the invention, the information shown in the display based on the radio signals is simultaneously displayed in a further display, which is located in the area of the operations center. As a result, the firefighter serving in the operations center always has control over the information appearing on the firefighter's display at the source of the fire.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, a data interface is additionally provided, which enables parallel data transmission between the control line and the display via a communication cable. This provides an emergency backup facility.
- a status indication regarding the existence and/or non-existence of a delivery connection of extinguishing fluid from the stationary (unlimited) extinguishing fluid source to the fire extinguishing device,
- a status indication regarding the existence and/or non-existence of a radio connection and/or
- an alarm signal.
Alternatively, the radio connection can also be designed to be bidirectional, so that radio signals can also be received by means of the radio device connected to the control line in the end region of the extinguishing nozzle, which are emitted by the radio device carried by the firefighter. For example, this can be used to establish a voice communication connection and/or even a voice control device to the operations center.
In particular, audio and/or video communications can be transmitted in one or even both directions. Accordingly, the control device can also be used to carry out bidirectional voice communication.
The extinguishing nozzle is either an extinguishing nozzle that is portable by the firefighter and is attached to the end of a flexible hose, or alternatively an extinguishing nozzle that is permanently mounted on a base (also known as a “monitor” in technical jargon).
Because the first supply line to the tank and the second supply line to the stationary extinguishing fluid source are connected to a pressure-controlled multi-way valve upstream of the feed pump, the switching of the extinguishing fluid flow from the tank to the stationary extinguishing fluid point can be carried out automatically. This means that it is no longer necessary for the fire brigade to monitor valves in the supply lines of the feed pump and to switch off the respective inlets. The switchover takes place automatically with the multi-way valve, preferably pressure-controlled, without the human operator having to intervene in the process.
The multi-way valve is expediently controlled via the pressure present in the second supply line on the multi-way valve. In the basic position of the multi-way valve, the tank is first emptied during operation of the fire extinguishing system and, when the specified pressure is present at the multi-way valve in the second supply line, the supply of extinguishing fluid is switched away from the tank to the stationary extinguishing fluid source.
Because the pressure in the second supply line on the multi-way valve can be determined with a separate pump, the pressure control of the multi-way valve can also be used when the extinguishing fluid coming from the stationary extinguishing fluid source is not under pressure (e.g. in a hydrant), but has to be sucked in.
The multi-way valve is expediently switched over at a pressure threshold that can be set.
The multi-way valve is expediently a multi-way valve whose pressure-dependent switching point is determined by an elastic element, for example a spring, and/or by magnetic means.
Alternatively or in addition to the information that can be shown on the display, the switching position of the multi-way valve can also be shown on the display if necessary.
The fact that a return line is provided from the feed pump to the tank makes it possible for a certain percentage of the pumped amount of extinguishing fluid to be fed back into the tank while extinguishing fluid is being drawn from the stationary extinguishing fluid source, whereby it can be refilled during the extinguishing operation .

The
In addition, a
The output of the

To supply data to the
Informationen sieht.Preferably, the information displayed in the
In addition, in a further embodiment, the invention also makes it possible to set up bidirectional data transmission between the first and

The
