Definitions
- the invention is based on a connector housing according to the preamble of independent claim 1.
- the invention is further based on a connector housing according to the preamble of independent claim 2.
- Such connector housings are suitable for screwing a connector to a mating connector in the inserted state in order to prevent unintentional separation of the connector.
- a circular connector with a sleeve housing is disclosed. This has a locking means, which is designed as a screw attachment and is arranged on the plug-in side of the sleeve housing. An internal thread is provided on the inside of the locking means, through which the circular connector can be screwed onto the mating connector for mechanical locking of the connector.
- the rotatable holding of the screw attachment on the sleeve housing is usually achieved in this design by means of several individual locking lugs made of plastic, which are molded onto the inner surface of the screw attachment.
- the assembly of the connector housing, ie the sliding of the screw attachment onto the sleeve housing, assumes that the sleeve housing and / or the screw attachment can be deformed accordingly.
- the pamphlet GB 2 149 235 discloses an electrical connector having a union nut rotatably supported on a snap ring. Alternatively, the use of a bayonet coupling is proposed.
- the pamphlet DE 20 2013 012 011 U1 discloses a connector housing with a closure element on the cable connection side, which can be guided over the cable and irreversibly latched onto the connector housing by means of a snap ring.
- the pamphlet US 2014/0342605 A1 discloses a coaxial cable connector with particularly good RF (radio frequency) shielding. For this purpose, it has a specially shaped locking ring with an outside contact section. This has certain elastic / plastic properties that enable it to be pressed against the contour of the mating connector and thereby support mechanical and electrical contact with it. This document discloses the preamble of claim 1.
- the pamphlet DE 103 53 886 B3 shows a housing arrangement for a plug of an electrical plug-in pairing.
- This comprises a housing body with a housing axis and a coupling sleeve to be placed on the housing body in an axial placement direction.
- the coupling sleeve is used to couple the plug with a mating plug of the plug pair.
- a retaining ring to be inserted into a receiving groove of a first of the two components, the housing body and the coupling sleeve, serves to secure the coupling sleeve against being pulled off the housing body. For this purpose, in the final assembly state of the plug, it plunges into a latching recess in the other of the two components.
- the retaining ring has a locking lip arrangement with at least one flexibly deflectable locking lip.
- the locking lip protrudes from the receiving groove in such a way that it rises when the coupling sleeve is put on the housing body is first pushed away from the second component and finally snaps resiliently into the latching recess of the second component.
- the locking lip arrangement is preferably formed by an annular wall section of the retaining ring which widens in the manner of a cone and is slotted at at least one circumferential point.
- the object of the invention is to provide a design for a connector housing with a sleeve housing and a screw attachment rotatably held thereon, which avoids these problems and ensures high stability against tensile and leverage forces in the plugged-in state.
- the connector housing has a sleeve housing and a screw attachment.
- the sleeve housing has an outer surface that is circular in cross section with a circumferential first groove formed therein.
- the screw attachment has an inner surface that is circular in cross section and has a circumferential second groove formed therein.
- the connector housing also has a snap ring with its inner circumference is arranged in the first groove and with its outer circumference in the second groove in order to hold the screw attachment rotatably on the sleeve housing.
- the invention has the advantage that a force acting on the sleeve housing is transmitted to the majority of the circumference of the screw attachment via the snap ring.
- the snap ring can apply the counterforce to the expected constant axial and / or transverse forces over a very large area. The said forces are distributed homogeneously over almost the entire circumference of the connector housing. As simulations and corresponding empirical studies show, this also applies under the influence of vibration and occasional and / or regularly occurring impacts.
- the connector housing has to be designed to be less elastic than the construction known from the prior art, because its assembly takes place by means of a deformation of the snap ring, i.e. no deformation of the housing components, namely the sleeve housing and / or the screw attachment , requirement.
- the sleeve housing and / or the screw attachment can thus be made of a harder material, e.g. a harder plastic, and / or, due to their shape, have a greater rigidity than is the case in the prior art. This also allows them to better absorb the forces that occur without undesirably disengaging from one another.
- the snap ring is made from a resilient material, in particular from resilient steel, for example from resilient stainless steel. In another embodiment, however, it can in principle also consist of a resilient plastic.
- the snap ring advantageously has a circular basic shape and is designed to be open at one point and is therefore elastically deformable in the radial direction, in particular expandable and compressible.
- both the first groove and the second groove as well as the snap ring have a rectangular profile.
- the width of the first groove, the second groove and the snap ring coincide with one another.
- This width is always measured in the plug-in direction, i.e. in the direction of the symmetry axis of the assembled connector.
- the depth of the grooves and the height of the snap ring profile are basically measured at right angles to them in the radial direction.
- the profile of the snap ring has a height that is greater than its width. This is advantageous in order, given the desired radial elasticity of the snap ring, to oppose a possible axial displacement with a sufficiently large radial surface in order to keep the screw attachment stable on the sleeve housing.
- the snap ring engages just as deeply in the radial direction in the first groove as in the second groove. This position is particularly advantageous as it gives the same force in every groove endures.
- the maximum holding force would be determined by the respective lower depth of engagement and therefore lower than is the case in the aforementioned uniform, or at least a more uniform, position.
- the depth of engagement of the snap ring in the assembled state in the respective groove can be between 40% and 60%, preferably between 45% and 55% and in particular between 47.5% and 52.5% of the height of the snap ring profile to use the aforementioned effect particularly advantageously.
- the height of the profile of the snap ring and the depth of the two grooves are chosen so large that the connector is able to apply a sufficient counterforce to the sum of the expected constant tensile forces of the cable, vibration forces and occasional or regularly occurring impacts.
- the screw attachment on the sleeve housing is held in a stable manner even under the action of these forces.
- the height of the profile of the snap ring and the depth of the two grooves can be freely adapted to the respective requirements over a sufficiently large area, without undesirable side effects occurring as a result.
- the screw attachment advantageously has a screw thread or at least a so-called “partial thread” for screwing into or onto a mating thread of a mating connector housing.
- the screw thread / partial thread is an internal thread and the mating thread is a corresponding external thread.
- the screw attachment can have an external thread and the mating connector housing an internal thread.
- the mating connector housing can be an add-on housing that is attached, for example, to a wall, for example to the wall of a railway wagons or a production facility, for example in the vicinity of production machines, is grown. Then the connector housing connected to it is exposed to a constant leverage effect of corresponding cable forces, even with simultaneous vibration and regular and / or occasional impacts, which places special demands on the stability of the connection. Such requirements are made, for example, in the food industry, on production lines or also in rail traffic, so that a connector housing according to the invention can be used particularly advantageously in these areas.
- the snap ring can be elastically expanded in the radial direction during pre-assembly and pushed over the sleeve housing with only little effort.
- the snap ring can then lock in the first groove of the sleeve housing by being relaxed radially inward and thereby partially engaging in this first groove.
- the first groove is so deep that the snap ring can still be radially compressed in this preassembled state.
- the snap ring can be elastically bent radially inward during the actual assembly, ie when the screw attachment is pushed onto the sleeve housing.
- the screw attachment can have a bevel on its end facing the sleeve housing on the inside and preferably directly adjoining the second groove.
- the snap ring can plunge deeper, in particular completely, into the first groove during the assembly process by attaching the screw attachment.
- the snap ring can again relax radially outwards in order to also lock into the second groove of the screw attachment.
- the snap ring dips into both grooves in the finally assembled state, so that its inner circumference is in the first groove and with its The outer circumference is arranged in the second groove, and holds the screw attachment rotatably on the sleeve housing.
- the depth of the first groove is at least as great as the height of the snap ring profile.
- the snap ring can be completely received in the first groove during the assembly process, in particular by elastic compression in the radial direction, in other words it can completely dip into the first groove so as not to hinder the insertion of the sleeve housing.
- the depth of the first groove can correspond to the height of the snap ring profile within the scope of the manufacturing tolerances, for example between 0.75 times and 1.5 times the height of the snap ring profile, in particular between 0.825 times and 1.25 times the height of the snap ring profile, preferably between 0.9 times and 1.2 times the height of the snap ring profile and particularly preferably between 0.95 times and 1.1 times the height of the snap ring profile.
- This preferred embodiment has the additional advantage that the screw attachment can be made comparatively small, since the depth of the second groove only has to correspond to the depth of immersion of the snap ring in this second groove in the assembled state.
- the snap ring can first be elastically compressed in the radial direction with an alternative pre-assembly, for example with a special tool, and pushed into the screw attachment and can thus initially be in the second groove of the screw attachment lock by expanding radially and thereby partially engaging in this second groove.
- the second groove has such a great depth that the snap ring can still be expanded radially outward in this preassembled state.
- the sleeve housing can be designed conically on the outside at least at its end facing the screw attachment.
- the snap ring can relax radially inward and also snap into the first groove of the sleeve housing at the end of the assembly.
- the snap ring dips into both grooves in this final assembled state, so that it is arranged with its inner circumference in the first groove and with its outer circumference in the second groove, and holds the screw attachment rotatably on the sleeve housing.
- the depth of the second groove is at least as great as the height of the snap ring profile.
- the snap ring can be completely received in the second groove during the alternative assembly process, in particular by elastic expansion in the radial direction, so it can completely dip into the second groove so as not to hinder the insertion of the sleeve housing.
- the depth of the second groove within the manufacturing tolerances of the height of the Circlip profile so for example between 0.75 times and 1.5 times the height of the snap ring profile, in particular between 0.825 times and 1.25 times the height of the snap ring profile, preferably between 0.9 -fold and 1.2 times the height of the snap ring profile and particularly preferably between 0.95 times and 1.1 times the height of the snap ring profile.
- This alternative design can optionally have the advantage that, depending on the specific manufacturing conditions, it makes it easier to assemble the connector housing. Therefore, for the reasons mentioned above, this variant is preferred for designs in which the screw attachment has a somewhat larger diameter anyway, so it does not have to be built particularly large just to enable a sufficient depth of the second groove.
- the Fig. 1 shows a connector housing corresponding to the prior art in longitudinal section.
- the connector housing has a sleeve housing 1 and a screw attachment 2 with an internal thread 23 rotatably attached to it on the plug-in side.
- the sleeve housing 1 has a circumferential first groove 11, shown here only in profile, into which three latching lugs 24 of the screw attachment 2 engage, so that the screw attachment 2 is rotatably held on the sleeve housing 1.
- three locking lugs 24 only one locking lug 24 can be seen in the sectional view, since the other two locking lugs are formed, offset by 120 °, on the inner circumference of the screw attachment 2, which is circular in cross-section and are therefore not visible in this cross-sectional view.
- the latching lug 24 On its side facing the sleeve housing 1, the latching lug 24 has a bevel, which is not designated in any more detail and which is intended to interact with a ramp 14 of the sleeve housing 1 during assembly.
- the sleeve housing 1 and / or the screw attachment 2 deform accordingly during the assembly process to the extent necessary to enable the screw attachment 2 to be pushed onto the sleeve housing 1 and its latching lugs 24 to snap into the first groove 11, so that the screw attachment 2 can be rotated in the assembled state is held on the sleeve housing 1.
- the shape of the locking lugs 24 is largely due to the necessities of their ability to be assembled and that in particular their height and thus also the size of their force-absorbing surface facing the mating connector housing is limited.
- the elasticity of the sleeve housing 1 and / or the screw attachment 2, which is necessary for this type of assembly, is extremely disadvantageous for the stability with respect to tensile and lever forces that may occur and is therefore severely limited.
- This state-of-the-art design represents only a compromise between assembly capability and operational stability, i.e. operational reliability, particularly under the appropriate environmental conditions.
- the Fig. 2a, Fig. 2b and Figure 2c show in various representations a solution according to the invention which differs from the above prior art on the one hand in that the screw attachment 2 has a circumferential second groove 22 on its inner circumference, which is circular in cross section.
- the depth of its engagement in the first groove 11 and the second groove 22 is almost the same, as a result of which the effective force-absorbing surface of the snap ring 5 available for absorbing force is optimized in every direction.
- the depth of engagement of the snap ring 5 in the respective groove is between 40% and 60%, preferably between 45% and 55% and in particular between 47.5% and 52.5% of the height H of the snap ring profile.
- the screw attachment 2 has a bevel 21 in the direction of the sleeve housing 1 for improved assembly, which in the assembled state also interacts with a corresponding sealing ring 6.
- the sleeve housing can consist of a harder material, which benefits the stability of the plug connection.
- the snap ring 5 can assume the corresponding function during assembly and be radially compressed under the action of the bevel 21 when the screw attachment 2 is pushed onto the sleeve housing 1 and so temporarily dip deeper, ideally completely, into the first groove 11.
- the snap ring 5 engages with its outer area, and thus also with its outer circumference, in the second groove 22 of the screw attachment 2 at the end of the assembly, but remains with its inner area, and thus also with its inner circumference, in the first groove 11.
- the Figure 2b shows the relevant mechanism in an enlarged view.
- the rectangular profile of the snap ring 5, ie the rectangular snap ring profile can be clearly seen.
- the snap ring profile has the same width B as the first groove 11 and the second groove 22, but does not completely fill the first groove 11 in the direction of its height H in the preassembled state.
- the snap ring 5 is still radially compressible in the arrangement shown here.
- the depth of the first groove 11 is at least the height H of the snap ring profile.
- the snap ring 5 can completely dip into the first groove 11 during assembly, which makes it much easier to attach the screw attachment 2 to the sleeve housing.
- the Figure 2c shows a comparable arrangement in which the screw attachment 2 with its internal thread 23 on a mating thread 33 is screwed.
- This mating thread 33 belongs to the plug-in area 3 of a horizontally aligned mating connector housing, which is designed as an add-on housing, not completely shown in the drawing for reasons of clarity, which can be attached to a vertical surface, for example a wall, for example.
- the Fig. 3a shows the screw attachment 2 with the circumferential second groove 22 and the internal thread 23 in a 3D illustration.
- the Figure 3b shows the sleeve housing 1 with its circumferential first groove 11 in a 3D illustration.
- the Figure 3c shows the snap ring 5.
- This is designed to be open, ie interrupted in an area 5 '. In profile, it has a rectangular shape and a height H and a width B. Its height H is measured in a radial direction, ie in the direction of its radius R.
- the axis of symmetry A which in the assembled state also corresponds to the axis of symmetry of the sleeve housing 1, runs perpendicular to the plane of the ring.
- the width B of the snap ring 5 is measured in the axial direction A, that is, in the insertion direction.
- the snap ring 5 consists of spring-elastic steel.

Fig. 3c zeigt den Sprengring 5.
