In this case, the lock-symbol 38 (see Figure 11 ) is visible in the first window aperture 14a of the body 3. The further window apertures 14b, 14c do not show any symbols 38 in this state of the device 1.

  • a gap 48 between the piston rod 4 and the bung 9 respectively air in the device 1 may affect the dose accuracy, in particular for a variable dose device as described herein. More precisely, what makes dose accuracy of the variable dose device 1 so significant is that it is much more difficult to be accurate compared to a device delivering the entire contents. This is because the device must perform the metering function - it cannot rely on the fill volume being accurate and then simply pushing out all of the medication. Hence, the elimination of the gap 48 and / or air become crucial in order to obtain the dose accuracy required.

  • a dose setting operation is prevented as the pawl means 20 of the interaction member 2 (only indicated in Figure 5 , see in particular Figures 4 and 9 ) engage the anti-rotation feature 21 of the piston rod 4, thus preventing the piston rod 4 (and accordingly the dose member 5) from being rotated in the rotational direction for setting the dose of the medication 10.
  • the user presses onto the end cap 6. Accordingly, the dose member 5 is moved in the distal direction.
  • the piston rod 4 is moved distally along with the dose member 5 as these components are rotationally and axially coupled to one another as described above.
  • the contact element 19 When the piston rod 4 is moved distally during priming, the contact element 19 is moved towards the axial priming stop 18b of the interaction member 2 (see also Figures 9 and 10 ). After a certain distance, for example 4 mm, of distal travel, the contact element 19 abuts the axial priming stop 18b. Accordingly, the axial priming stop 18b limits distal travel of the piston rod 4 during priming. When the contact element 19 abuts the axial priming stop 18b, the priming operation has been finished. The gap 48 has been removed.

  • the second window aperture 14b displays a colour, e.g. a green colour for indicating that the device 1 is in the operational mode or, alternatively, a red colour for indicating that a dose has not yet been set.

  • alternative embodiments may include equally shaped first side walls 41a such that a counter rotation of the dose member 5 and, thus, a correction of the set dose may be possible. More precisely, as described above, it may be advantageous to allow the user to correct the dose but to prevent rotation back of the dose member 5 to the priming section or to prevent initial dialling from priming to the maximum dose.
  • the tracks 27 are slid over the respective deflectable detent 43.
  • the detent 43 "moves" (in fact, the detent 43 is not moved but the tracks 27 are moved) from the first section 28a of a respective track 27 into the first section 28a of that track 27 which succeeds the first track 27 in the rotational direction.
  • the detent 43 is slid over the rounded side wall 41a of the respective first section 28a / the rounded rib delimiting the first section 28a.
  • the detent 43 passes over the side wall 41a / the rib, the detent 43 is deflected radially outwardly.
  • the detent 43 engages the adjacent track 27, it relaxes in the radially inward direction.
  • the detent 43 controls the rotational position of the dose member 5. In this way, only discrete doses of the medication 10 can be set. In particular, the dose is set correctly only when the detent 43 is positioned in or engages with the first section 28a of a respective track 27. As the detent is radially deflectable, the detent 43 has the tendency to rotatably shift the dose member 5 in the rotational direction by sliding over the rounded side wall 41a until the detent 43 is positioned in the adjacent track 27 corresponding to a specific dose size.
  • the piston rod 4 is rotated along with the dose member 5 in the rotational direction.
  • the pawl means 20 mechanically cooperate with the second axial region 22b of the piston rod 4.
  • the protruding tip 49 of the pawl means 20 is arranged between the plate-like structure 32 and the proximal edge 24a of the most distal ratchet tooth 24 of the second axial region 22 so that the piston rod 4 can be rotated with respect to the pawl means 20.

Upon passing the proximal edge 24b, audible feedback may be created.
  • the detent 43 also cannot pass from the second section 28b back into the first section 28a for enabling further rotation of the dose member 5.
  • the device 1 is rotationally and proximally locked.
  • Distal movement of the dose member 5 and, hence of the piston rod 4, is guided by the detent 43 engaging the second section 28b.

  • the axial guidance of the dose member 5 / piston rod 4 during dose delivery and the axial end stop of the dose member 5 / piston rod 4 at the end of the dose delivery operation are realized by means of different components, i.e. by means of the body 3 with the detent 43 cooperating with the tracks 27 of the dose member 5 (axial guidance) and by means of the stop member 18 mechanically cooperating with the piston rod 4 (axial end stop).
  • the device 1 is now locked. No further dose of the medication 10 can be set and dispensed from the device 1. This situation is depicted in Figure 8 . The remaining amount of the medication 10 is discarded along with the device 1.

In the embodiment where the structural parts of the interaction member 2 are arranged on the body 3, this step may be redundant.

  • the piston rod 4 and the dose member 5 are now secured against relative axial and rotational movement.

  • the piston rod 4 and the dose member 5 are inserted into the interaction member 2 and the body 3.
  • the piston rod 4 and the dose member 5 are inserted via the open proximal end of the body 3 and are moved in the distal direction.
  • the distal end of the piston rod 4 passes the pawl means 20 which are thereby deflected in the radial outward direction.
  • the recess 20a of the pawl means 20 engages the segments 34 of the first axial region 22a of the piston rod 4, thereby guiding the axial movement of the piston rod 4 and the dose member 5.
  • the piston rod 4 and the dose member 5 and are moved in the distal direction until the tip 49 of the pawl means 20 of the interaction member 2 abuts the plate-like structure 31 of the first axial region 22a of the piston rod 4.
  • the end cap 6 is mounted onto the dose member due to mechanical cooperation of the fixing elements 35, 36. Relative rotational and axial movement of the dose member 5 and the end cap 6 is thus prevented.
  • this step may be redundant.
  • the cartridge 8 holding the medication 10 or the cartridge holder 7 containing the cartridge 8 may be connected to the body 3.
  • this step may be redundant. Rather, the medication 10 may be contained within the body 3 of the device 1.
  • the needle assembly 13 is connected, e.g. screwed, to the distal end of the device 1.
  • the device 1 can now be supplied to the user. When supplied, the device 1 is in the unprimed state and must be primed prior to use as described above.

Claims (15)

  1. Ensemble pour un dispositif d'administration de médicaments (1) comprenant :
    - un corps (3)
    - une tige de piston (4) adaptée et agencée pour être tournée par rapport au corps (3) afin de régler une dose de médicament (10) et pour être déplacée axialement dans une direction distale par rapport au corps (3) afin d'administrer la dose réglée du médicament (10), vue en coupe transversale, la tige de piston (4) comprenant une pluralité de dents d'encliquetage (24) adaptées et agencées pour permettre la rotation de la tige de piston (4) pendant le réglage de la dose du médicament (10), les dents d'encliquetage (24) s'étendant circonférentiellement autour de la tige de piston (4),
    - au moins un élément d'arrêt (18) fixé contre tout mouvement axial et rotatif par rapport au corps (3), l'élément d'arrêt (18) étant adapté et agencé pour coopérer mécaniquement avec la tige de piston (4),
    - un élément d'interaction (2) fixé contre les mouvements axiaux et rotatifs par rapport au corps (3), l'élément d'interaction (2) comprenant au moins un élément d'arrêt (18) et un moyen formant cliquet (20) configurés pour coopérer mécaniquement avec la tige de piston (4), le moyen formant cliquet (20) étant adapté et agencé pour coopérer mécaniquement avec les dents d'encliquetage (24) afin d'empêcher le mouvement de la tige de piston (4) dans une direction opposée à la direction distale,
    lors du réglage de la dose du médicament (10), la tige de piston (4) s'alignant sur l'élément d'arrêt (18), lors de l'administration de la dose réglée, la tige de piston (4) étant déplacée dans la direction distale vers l'élément d'arrêt (18) de sorte que la tige de piston (4) et l'élément d'arrêt (18) viennent en butée à la fin de l'opération d'administration de la dose et de sorte que tout mouvement distal supplémentaire de la tige de piston (4) est empêché après que la dose réglée du médicament (10) a été administrée.
  2. Ensemble selon la revendication 1,
    l'au moins un élément d'arrêt (18) étant configuré de telle sorte que la rotation de la tige de piston (4) pour régler une dose supplémentaire du médicament (10) est empêchée une fois que l'élément d'arrêt (18) et la tige de piston (4) viennent en butée après l'administration de la dose réglée.
  3. Ensemble selon la revendication 1 ou la revendication 2,
    l'élément d'arrêt (18) comprenant un escalier de butées axiales (18a).
  4. Ensemble selon la revendication 3,
    la butée axiale respective (18a) définissant l'extrémité d'une voie spécifique le long de laquelle la tige de piston (4) est déplacée dans la direction distale pendant l'administration de la dose et la tige de piston (4) comprenant un élément de contact (19) qui est adapté et agencé pour coopérer mécaniquement avec une butée axiale spécifique (18a) à la fin de l'opération d'administration de la dose.
  5. Ensemble selon la revendication 3 ou la revendication 4,
    l'élément d'arrêt (18) comprenant une pluralité de butées de rotation (18c) s'étendant au moins en partie le long d'un axe longitudinal (23) de l'ensemble, les butées axiales adjacentes (18a) étant reliées par une butée de rotation respective (18c).
  6. Ensemble selon la revendication 4 ou la revendication 5,
    pendant le réglage de la dose, la tige de piston (4) étant tournée de manière à ce que l'élément de contact (19) soit aligné axialement avec la butée axiale spécifique (18a), une position azimutale et/ou axiale de la butée axiale spécifique (18a) par rapport au corps (3) étant corrélée à une taille de la dose réglée.
  7. Ensemble selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes,
    l'au moins un élément d'arrêt (18) étant agencé de manière hélicoïdale sur une surface intérieure de l'élément d'interaction (2).
  8. Ensemble selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, comprenant en outre au moins un moyen formant cliquet (20) fixé contre un mouvement axial et de rotation par rapport au corps (3), le moyen formant cliquet (20) et la tige de piston (4) étant configurés pour coopérer mécaniquement l'un avec l'autre de sorte que, dans un état non amorcé de l'ensemble, la rotation de la tige de piston (4) par rapport au corps (3) pour effectuer une opération de réglage de la dose étant empêchée.
  9. Ensemble selon la revendication 8,
    la tige de piston (4) comprenant un élément anti-rotation (21), à l'état non amorcé, le moyen formant cliquet (20) venant en prise dans l'élément anti-rotation (21) de sorte que le mouvement de rotation de la tige de piston (4) pour régler la dose du médicament (10) est empêché, et, pour amorcer l'ensemble, la tige de piston (4) étant déplacée dans la direction distale de sorte que le moyen formant cliquet (20) et l'élément anti-rotation (21) se libèrent pour permettre la rotation de la tige de piston (4) afin de régler la dose du médicament (10).
  10. Ensemble selon l'une quelconque des revendications 8 ou 9,
    l'élément d'arrêt (18) comprenant une butée d'amorçage axial (18b), et, à la fin de l'opération d'amorçage, la tige de piston (4) étant en butée contre la butée d'amorçage axial (18b) de manière à empêcher tout mouvement distal supplémentaire de la tige de piston (4) par rapport au corps (3) pour l'amorçage de l'ensemble.
  11. Ensemble selon les revendications 4 et 10,
    avant l'amorçage de l'ensemble, l'élément de contact (19) étant aligné axialement avec la butée d'amorçage axiale (18b) et, pendant l'amorçage, l'élément de contact (19) étant déplacé axialement vers la butée d'amorçage axiale (18b).
  12. Ensemble selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, le moyen formant cliquet (20) étant adapté et agencé pour coopérer mécaniquement avec les dents d'encliquetage (24)
    - pour fournir un signal sonore lorsque la dose définie est administrée et/ou
    - pour empêcher le mouvement de la tige de piston (4) dans une direction proximale par rapport au corps (3) lors du réglage et de l'administration de la dose du médicament (10).
  13. Ensemble selon l'une quelconque des revendications 4 à 12,
    la tige de piston (4) comprenant une première région axiale (22a), une deuxième région axiale (22b) et une troisième région axiale (22c) se chevauchant les unes les autres, vue le long de l'axe longitudinal (23) de l'ensemble, les dents d'encliquetage (24) étant agencées dans la deuxième région axiale (22b), et l'élément de contact (19) étant agencé dans la troisième région axiale (22c).
  14. Ensemble selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes,
    la dent d'encliquetage (24) respective comprenant un bord distal (24b) et un bord proximal (24a), le bord proximal (24a) s'étendant perpendiculairement à l'axe longitudinal (23) de l'ensemble, et le bord distal (24b) étant oblique par rapport à l'axe longitudinal (23).
  15. Dispositif d'administration de médicaments (1) comprenant un ensemble selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, le dispositif (1) étant un dispositif à dose variable unique.
