  • Escalator steps of the aforementioned type or their step skeleton or tubular body convert a largely trapezoidal cross section transversely to the ribs and grooves of their tread elements, the escalator steps being formed from thin walls and beams. As a result, they have a very large volume with a small mass. This complicates the transportation from the place of manufacture of the escalator step to the assembly location where the escalator step is installed in an escalator. Description

The invention relates to an escalator step and a method for its production.

Escalators are well known and efficient means of transporting people. Escalator steps are designed as one-piece or multi-part components and are usually made by a casting, extrusion or forging process, but also from deep-drawn parts. Mixed forms are also known which have both cast parts and sheet metal parts. Escalator steps of the aforementioned type are, for example, in the WO2015 / 032674 A1 disclosed. The top of the escalator step has a tread pattern in the form of a series of parallel ribs or webs running from the front to the rear. The ribs thus extend in the intended direction of movement of the escalator step. Their setting element also has ribs which usually connect to the ribs on the top. Furthermore, the ribs are dimensioned for engagement in the comb structures arranged at the entry areas of the escalator or moving walk.

Several steps are connected to a step belt of an escalator by means of at least one traction device. An escalator generally has a structure or truss with two deflection areas, between which the step belt is guided all around.

When the pallets or steps are made in one piece from cast or die-cast aluminum or another suitable metal or metal alloy, this requires an extremely complicated molding tool. Such molds for escalator steps are very expensive. Furthermore, the size of these molded parts, particularly in the area of the ribs and grooves, can lead to casting problems, in particular to the formation of cavities, so that avoiding them requires a complex temperature control of the molding tools.

To solve this problem, the WO2015 / 032674 A1 Escalator steps that have separate tread plates, the tread plates being arranged by means of projecting hooks on a step skeleton made of sheet steel or on an extruded tubular body. Also WO 2009047146 A1 discloses a similar escalator steps.

Escalator steps of the aforementioned type or their step skeleton or tubular body convert a largely trapezoidal cross section transversely to the ribs and grooves of their tread elements, the escalator steps being formed from thin walls and beams. As a result, they have a very large volume with a small mass. This complicates the transportation from the place of manufacture of the escalator step to the assembly location where the escalator step is installed in an escalator. Only a few escalator steps can therefore be transported in a standard container in relation to the maximum permitted transport weight.

The object of the present invention is therefore to provide escalator steps that are optimized for transport from the manufacturing site to the assembly site.

This object is achieved by an escalator step which has a one-piece step body with a step element section and a setting element section, the step element section and the setting element section forming an L-shaped cross section of the one-piece step body. Furthermore, the escalator step has two side walls which can be arranged on both sides of the one-piece tread body. Furthermore, the escalator step contains at least one support profile which can be arranged between the side walls. The one-piece tread body, the side cheeks and the support profile are designed as plug-in parts and therefore have plug connections. By means of these plug-in connections, the support profile with the side cheeks and the one-piece tread body can be plugged together at least with the side cheeks to form an escalator step.

The invention is based on the finding that, for manufacturing reasons, the plug connections can have play in them and thus have a narrowly limited freedom of movement. In order to largely eliminate the effects of possible play within the plug connections of the escalator step according to the invention, the stabilizing property of the L-shaped cross section of the one-piece tread body is used in particular. That means that for reasons of stability the Setting element section and the tread element section are integrally connected to one another and are therefore designed as a one-piece tread body.

In the escalator step according to the invention, there are preferably plug-in connections between the one-piece step body and the side cheeks, between the side cheeks and the support profile and between the one-piece step body and the support profile. As a result, the plug connections also limit each other in their freedom of movement as a result of play, so that an entirely rigid escalator step can be produced by simply plugging the plug parts together.

By dividing the escalator step into a one-piece step body, two side bolsters and a support profile, which are designed as plug-in parts, the escalator step can be disassembled into individual parts in a space-saving manner. The escalator step still has to be put together at the installation site, because of the plug connections this can be done with little effort. The assembly of these parts can also be done fully automatically by means of robots or automatic assembly machines due to the concept of plug-in parts.

The plug connections also enable an extremely stable, in particular stable connection of the one-piece tread body to the side cheeks and the support profile. There is preferably no excessive play in the plug connections. The plug connection can even have a sliding fit or a slight press fit. If the plug connection can only be plugged together in a single mounting direction, it has a high positioning function with only a single degree of freedom. This helps to avoid assembly errors.

The mounting direction of the individual plug connections can be arranged orthogonally to a main loading direction of the respective plug connection, so that the greatest force acting in the plug connection can be absorbed by the positive connection of the plug connection. As a result, securing means which are used to secure the plug connection are largely relieved and can be of very small dimensions. If necessary, a securing means can be dispensed with for individual plug connections.

The mounting direction can be arcuate, so that the plug connection can be assembled by means of a pivoting movement. Of course, the mounting direction can also be linear, so that the plug connection can be joined together by means of a linear movement.

Each of the plug-in connections has at least one projection and at least one recess which is form-fittingly matched to this projection. Each of the plug-in connections is always divided into two plug-in parts, the recess being formed on a plug-in part of the escalator step and the projection to be inserted into this recess being formed on a further plug-in part adjacent to the recess in the assembled state.

At least one of the plug connections is preferably secured by a securing means. This can be done by means of a material locking means such as a polymer adhesive, by soldering or by welding. Of course, the at least one plug connection can also be secured in a form-fitting manner by, for example, a split pin, a rivet, a pin or a screw, which protrude through the material forming the recess and the projection, orthogonal to the mounting direction. If necessary, snap connections are also possible, which are formed parallel to the plug connection. Other possible positive locking means are caulking or clinch connections. The securing means prevents the secured plug connection from becoming loose. Of course, a combination of cohesive and positive locking means can be used on the same escalator step or even on the same connector. Since the plug connections are preferably designed in such a way that the greatest force acting in the plug connection is absorbed by the positive connection of the plug connection, the securing means can be dimensioned very small or can hardly be designed to transmit loads.

The plug-in parts can basically be made of different materials and using different manufacturing methods. To avoid reworking the projections and recesses, however, the plug-in parts are preferably light metal die-cast parts. Aluminum alloys are particularly suitable as casting materials. Of course, at least two plug connections can be provided between two adjacent plug parts to be joined. Several plug connections increase the mechanical stability between the two joined parts.

Various fastening areas and configurations with special functions can be formed on the plug-in parts. For example, an emergency guide hook can be formed on at least one of the side walls. This emergency guide hook can project underneath an emergency guide rail or a running rail of an escalator in which the escalator step is used and thus prevent the escalator step from being lifted off the running rail.

Furthermore, at least one of the fastening areas listed below for fastening attachments can be formed on the side cheeks or on the one-piece step body:
  • a trailing roller attachment area for attaching a trailing roller,
  • a step axis attachment area for attaching a step axis, or
  • a guide fastening area for fastening a sliding guide element, which guides the escalator step laterally during operation.

A number of fully assembled escalator steps, provided with securing means and attachments, are arranged between two traction means and form a step band. The first and second traction means are usually link chains provided with rollers. The step belt is arranged in a known manner all around in an escalator.

The escalator step described above is manufactured and assembled at least with the following steps:
First, the one-piece tread body, the side cheeks and the support profiles required for the production of the escalator step are produced as plug-in parts, for example by means of a light metal die-casting process, recesses and projections of the plug connections being formed on the plug-in parts. Then the plug-in parts of the escalator step are plugged together to form an escalator step by means of the plug-in connections formed thereon, by first carrying the support profile between two Sidewalls arranged, plugged together and then the one-piece tread body with the sidewalls and the support profile arranged between them is plugged together. After plugging together, at least one of the plug connections is secured by means of a positive or material locking means. If necessary, additional attachments such as drag rollers, emergency guide hooks, sliding guide elements and the like are attached to the escalator step to complete the escalator step.

The manufacturer of escalator steps is rarely affiliated with an escalator assembly plant. Usually, escalator steps are manufactured in large numbers in a manufacturing plant and then shipped to escalator assembly plants worldwide. Since, according to the present invention, the main components of the escalator step are plug-in parts, these plug-in parts can be packaged and transported in a very space-saving manner. This results in an excellent utilization of the existing transport volume, for example a transport container as defined in the ISO standard 678 and can be transported by container ships, the train and trucks. In order to facilitate the transport of escalator steps from the manufacturing site to the installation site, the escalator steps are produced according to the invention in the form of plug-in parts, the plug-in parts of an escalator step comprising at least one integral, L-shaped step body, two side walls and a support profile. The one-piece tread bodies are stacked one inside the other and packed in transport boxes in such a way that their tread element sections and each of their setting element sections rest against one another. Existing cavities in the transport boxes with the one-piece step bodies can be filled with support profiles and side panels. If necessary, additional transport boxes must be filled with support profiles and side panels. Of course, the one-piece step body, the side panels and the support profiles can also be packed separately in transport boxes. These transport boxes are preferably matched to the loading mass of the ISO containers, so that as little transport volume as possible is lost. After transport, the plug-in parts are unpacked at the installation location and then used to connect them to the escalator steps using the plug-in connections. The escalator step is assembled by first placing a support profile between two side walls, plugging them together and then an integral step body with the side walls and the one in between arranged support profile is plugged together. Then at least one of the plug connections of the assembled escalator step is secured.

Figure 1 shows schematically in side view an escalator 1, which connects a first floor E1 with a second floor E2. The escalator 1 has a supporting structure 6 or truss 6 with two deflection areas 7, 8, between which a step belt 5 is guided all around. Guide rails 11 or raceways 11, which are arranged between the deflection regions 7, 8, serve to guide the step belt 5. The step belt 5, which is only partially shown, has traction means 9 on which escalator steps 4 are arranged. A handrail 3 is on a balustrade 2 arranged. The balustrade 2 is connected to the supporting structure 6 at the lower end by means of a balustrade base 10.

The Figure 2 shows in side view an escalator 4 of the in Figure 1 illustrated band 5 and the Figure 3 an exploded view of the in Figure 2 shown escalator level 4. Below are the two Figures 2 and 3rd described together.

The present escalator step 4 essentially has a one-piece step body 21, two side walls 22, 23 and a support profile 24, which are designed as plug-in parts.

The one-piece tread body 21 has a tread element section 26 and a setting element section 27. The tread element section 26 is flat and has a tread pattern of ribs 28 and grooves 29. The setting element section 27 is arcuate and adjoins an edge of the tread element section 26 in an almost orthogonal direction, so that the setting element section 27 and the tread element section 26 are integrally connected to one another and form an L-shaped cross section of the one-piece tread body 21. The concave inside 30 of the setting element section 27 is directed against the underside 31 of the tread element section 26 facing away from the ribs 28 and grooves 29. The setting element section 27 also has ribs and grooves (not visible) on its convex outer side 32. In order to make the setting element section 27 as light as possible, but nevertheless resistant to deformation, the concave inside 30 can also have grooves 33 and ribs 34. In the area of the flanks 35, 36 of the one-piece tread body 21, where the attachment of the side cheeks 22, 23 is provided, projections 37, 38, 39, 40 in the form of tabs are formed on the underside 31 and on the concave inside 30 . Furthermore, a toothed projection 41, which extends over the width of the tread element section 26, is formed on the underside 31. On the lower edge 42 of the setting element section 27, two lugs 43, 44 are arranged, in which recesses 45 are formed.

The two side cheeks 22, 23 are essentially mirror-symmetrical to one another. They each have two support sections 46, 47, 48, 49, the one with a web 50, 51 are interconnected. On the other hand, the support sections 46, 47, 48, 49 each have a pocket-shaped recess 52, 53, 54, 55, the shape of which corresponds to the associated projections 37, 38, 39, 40 formed on the one-piece tread body 21 and form these connections . On the side walls 22, 23 there are also fastening areas 56, 57, 58 for fastening attachments (see also Figure 2 ) educated. They are:
  • a drag roller attachment area 58 for attaching a drag roller 60,
  • a step axis attachment area 56 for attaching a step axis 61 and
  • a guide fastening area 57 for fastening a sliding guide element 62.

The trailing roller fastening area 58 is arranged in the alignment of the web 50, 51 on the side cheek 22, 23 such that when the escalator step 4 is plugged together in the area of the setting element section 27, it projects outward from the escalator step 4 and projects laterally. The stepped axis fastening region 56 and the guide fastening region 57 are arranged on the extension of the side cheek 22, 23 facing away from the setting element section 27, the guide fastening region 57 likewise being arranged projecting outwards and projecting laterally. "Outside" is to be understood here as the space surrounding the assembled escalator step 4, while "inside" is defined as the interior enclosed by the assembled escalator step 4.

On each of the side walls 22, 23, two lugs 63, 65 are also formed laterally (in Figure 3 only visible on the right side cheek 23), which protrude towards the inside. The second extension 65 is arranged above the step axis fastening area 56 and has a recess 67 into which a projection 66 formed on the support profile 24 can be inserted. The first of these lugs 63 has a projection 64 which corresponds to the recess 45 of the nose 43, 44 formed on the one-piece tread body 21. The support profile 24 has on its upper edge 69 a number of recesses 68 which are matched to the toothed projection 41 of the one-piece tread body 21.

The escalator step 4 is essentially assembled in 3 steps, whereby For a better understanding, the reference symbols of assembled plug connections have the writing form "reference symbols of the projection / reference symbols of the recess".

In the first step, the two side walls 22, 23 and the support profile 24 are joined to form a step skeleton by plugging together the connectors 66/67 provided for this purpose.

In the second step, in order to connect the step skeleton to the one-piece tread body 21, the projections 64 of the side cheeks 22, 23 formed on the first lugs 63 are first inserted into the associated recesses 45 of the lugs 43, 44. The mating is done linear, for example, as in the Figure 3 is indicated by the arrow A. These plug-in connections 64/45 now act like hinges, so that the side cheeks 22, 23 can then be pivoted about this plug-in connection 64/45 until the projections 37, 38, 39, 40, 41 of the one-piece tread body 21 into the recesses 52, 53 , 54, 55, 68 of the side cheeks 22, 23 and the support profile 24 protrude. The plug connections 37/53, 38/52, 39/54, 40/55 are plugged together by pivoting in an arc-shaped manner, as shown in FIG Figure 3 is indicated by the arrow B.

In the third step, the plug connections 37/53, 38/52, 39/54, 40/55 of the support sections 46, 47, 48, 49 are secured by means of rivets 25 as securing means 25. These can be dimensioned extremely small, since the plug connections 37/53, 38/52, 39/54, 40/55 are designed so that the greatest forces between the plug parts 21, 22, 23, 24 due to the positive locking of the plug connections 37 / 53, 38/52, 39/54, 40/55 41/68, 64/45, 66/67 itself and not by the securing means 25. Of course, other securing means 25 can also be used, for example by caulking (deliberately deforming the plug-in connector), clinching, gluing, welding the connectors 37/53, 38/52, 39/54, 40/55 and the like.

Diese stützt in eingebautem Zustand auf den Laufschienen 11 der Fahrtreppe 1 ab.Then the escalator step 4 is completed with the attachments 60, 61, 62, as in the Figure 2 is shown. In order to support the escalator step 4 in the area of the setting element section 27 against gravity, is on Drag roller mounting area 58, the drag roller 60 rotatably arranged. This is supported in the installed state on the rails 11 of the escalator 1.

As a further add-on part, the sliding guide element 62 is provided for each side cheek 22, 23 and can be attached to the guide fastening area 57 of the side cheek 22, 23. The sliding guide element 62 guides the step belt 5 in the lateral direction on a base plate of the balustrade base 10 if, for reasons of wear, the step belt 5 has a tendency to run sideways out of the running direction or track predetermined by the traction means 9.

The individual plug connections 37/53, 38/52, 39/54, 40/55, 41/68, 45/64, 66/67 of the in Figure 3 Escalator level 4 shown are good from the Figures 4A to 4D evident. The show Figures 4A and 4B (using the example in the Figure 3 left side panel 22) the same connectors 40/55, 45/64 from different angles. The view from the outside towards the cutout of escalator step 4 Figure 4A reveals how the projection 64 formed on the first projection 63 projects into the recess 45 of the nose 44. An emergency guide hook 70 is arranged below the trailing roller mounting area 58. This engages in the completed escalator 1 in an emergency guide rail, not shown. As shown by a broken line, the emergency guide hook 70 can also protrude in the same direction as the trailing roller mounting area 58 or as the trailing roller axis 58. Then there is no need to install a separate emergency guide rail because the emergency guide hook 70 then engages under the running rail 11 of the trailing roller 60.

In Figure 4B it can also be seen how the projection 40 arranged on the setting element section 27 is in the recess 55 of the side cheek 22.

In the Figures 4C and 4D are (again using the example in the Figure 3 left side panel 22) the connectors 39/54, 41/68, 66/67 near the step axis mounting area 56 shown from different angles. In particular, in the Figure 4D can be clearly seen how the support profile 24 is caught by the plug connections 41/68, 66/67 between the toothed projection 41 of the step surface 26 and the second lateral extension 65 of the step cheek 22. Hereby there is no need to secure these plug connections 41/68, 66/67 and the proposed construction enormously reduces the installation effort for escalator step 4.

A rib 71 is formed on the side walls 22, 23 for the purpose of additional stabilization of the support profile 24 and as an assembly aid (see Figure 4D ). In Figure 4C it can also be seen how the projection 39 arranged on the tread element section 26 is in the recess 54 of the side cheek 22. The bore 72 for the securing element 25 is also clearly visible.

As already above using the Figure 2 described, the fully assembled escalator steps 4 between two traction means 9, (in the Figure 2 only one visible) arranged. The traction means 9 of the present exemplary embodiment is an articulated chain 9 provided with rollers 12. The rollers 12 are guided in the escalator 1 through the rails 11 or are supported against gravity. The traction means 9 can also be a belt or a wire rope.

The traction means 9 are arranged in the escalator 1 parallel to one another and connected to one another by means of the step axes 61. The escalator steps 4 are hooked onto these step axes 61. As already mentioned, a step axis fastening region 56 in the form of a step eye 56 is formed on each side cheek 22, 23 for hanging. The escalator step 4 must be arranged so that it can pivot about the step axis 61, so that it can form a horizontal section in the deflection areas 7, 8 with other escalator steps 4 and a step in the inclined central section of the escalator 1.

The Figures 5 and 6 illustrate in a clear manner the main advantage of the plug-in escalator step 4.
