  • the box may include a door arranged at its rear part, door coming to close the opening arranged at the level of the rear end of the box and allowing the introduction of at least one box in the box .
  • the means for locking at least one box with respect to the box may comprise, on the one hand, spacers passing through the box and connecting two side walls of the box and, on the other hand, the upper cover closing the box.
  • the locking means of at least one box relative to the box may include the rear door.
  • the turret may comprise at least one plate arranged behind the box and allowing to receive a box before its introduction into the box.
  • the fund can advantageously be made integral with the tray.
  • the casing may be secured to a framework secured to a base plate, this framework comprising side bars arranged on either side of the casing and also carrying a socket intended to receive a pin.
  • the gun turret may comprise two caissons integral with the framework, and arranged symmetrically on either side of a median plane perpendicular to the axis of the casings.
  • an ammunition box intended to equip such a gun turret, a substantially parallelepiped box and comprising two front walls parallel to each other and two side walls parallel to each other and perpendicular to the front walls, the front walls both having a height less than that of the side walls to allow the exit of ammunition in strips.
  • the box may include at least one roller positioned at a front wall.
  • the roller can be carried by a pivoting handle articulated on the side walls and forming a handle for extracting and transporting the box.
  • the box may include a recess at the level of the lower part of a front wall, a recess delimited at the front by a spout integral with the lower face.
  • a gun turret 1 according to the invention comprises a mounting 2 carrying a cradle 3 receiving a weapon 4.
  • the cradle 3 has pins (not shown) which are pivotally mounted in sockets 5 of the carriage 2.
  • This turret 1 comprises an ammunition feed device which here comprises two ammunition magazines, a right magazine 6a and a left magazine 6b.
  • Magazines 6a and 6b are arranged laterally to the cradle and each below one of sockets 5 receiving a journal.
  • the ammunition feed device also comprises two feed corridors 7a and 7b, which each lead the ammunition from one of the magazines to the weapon 4.
  • a right corridor 7a leads the ammunition from the right magazine 6a.
  • a left corridor 7b leads the ammunition from the left magazine 6b.
  • a rear cowling 38 covers the corridors 7a and 7b. This cowling is shown only in FIG.
  • Weapon 4 is here a so-called medium-caliber weapon (caliber less than 60mm and greater than 12.7 mm). This weapon is defined so that it can fire two different types of ammo, for example explosive ammo and armour-piercing ammo.
  • the mechanics of the weapon comprises a means of introducing ammunition making it possible to supply the weapon, as desired, with one or the other type of ammunition.
  • Such a weapon is known for example from the patent EP129457 .
  • Each magazine 6a or 6b comprises an outer box 8a or 8b which is integral with the carriage 2 and inside which can be placed at least one ammunition box 10 (see figure 1b ).
  • Each box 8a, 8b has a rear end which carries an opening (respectively 9a and 9b) and a closed front end (respectively 23a and 23b).
  • Locking means are provided which make it possible to immobilize each box 10 with respect to its box 8a or 8b. These locking means will be described later.
  • FIGS. 2a to 2d allow a better understanding of the architecture of the turret according to the invention, the figure 2a showing a first stage of realization of the carriage 2 and the figure 2b and 2c successive steps making it possible to produce the complete carriage 2 as shown in 2d figure .
  • the carriage is formed of a frame 11 secured to a base plate 12.
  • the frame 11 is constituted by a mechanically welded assembly of bars 33 which form the fork of the carriage 2, assembly which supports the two sockets 5 intended to receive the pins of the cradle.
  • the side bars 33 are assembled laterally on either side of a space intended to receive the cradle of the weapon. These bars thus form two parallel vertical panels 13a and 13b, constituting the fork, and each sleeve 5 extends perpendicular to each panel 13a, 13b towards the outside of the frame 11.
  • the sleeves 5 are supported towards the outside of the frame 11 by other side bars 33 which form support triangles 14a, 14b which extend, parallel to the panels 13a and 13b, from the socket 5 towards the base plate 12.
  • the panels 13a and 13b are also connected by spacers 15 which make it possible to stiffen the frame.
  • This basic structure of hide 2 makes it possible to design a hide that is both light and resistant.
  • the sleeves 5 participate in the stiffening of the assembly and extend on either side of the fork. Between each socket 5 and the base plate 12 extends a space intended to receive the box of a store.
  • armor plates 15a and 15b are fixed to the frame 11 between the panels 13a and 13b of the fork.
  • the figure 2c shows the placement of boxes 8a and 8b between each trunnion 5 and base plate 12.
  • each box is also made in the form of a mechanically welded structure which is fixed by screwing to base plate 12.
  • Each box thus contributes, with a reduced mass, to stiffen the carriage 2 by laterally reinforcing each panel 13a or 13b.
  • the side walls of each box are connected by spacers 16 which contribute to the rigidity of the box and which also make it possible to separate and maintain the ammunition boxes which will be placed in the box (see also figure 1c ).
  • FIG. 2c We represented at the figure 2c an upper cover 17 which is fixed to the box 8a at a lateral articulation 18 and which allows access to the upper part of at least one box once it is placed in the box 8a.
  • the cover 17 gives access to the three boxes which are arranged at the front of the box 8a.
  • the box on the right 8a contains a total of five ammunition boxes, three boxes are introduced into the box 8a by the upper opening of the box 8a, after release of the cover 17, the two other boxes are introduced into the box 8a by the opening rear 9a, as will be described later.
  • the other box 8b does not carry a lid. Indeed this box is smaller in size and contains only two boxes 10 which are introduced into the box 8b through the rear opening 9b. The front part of this left box 8b will be able to receive the electronic control units of the weapon or of the turret. They will be accessible through a side door 30 ( figure 1b ).
  • the 2d figure shows the lookout 2 after fixing armor plates 31 on the side walls of the boxes 8a and 8b. These plates 31 complete the structure of the boxes 8a, 8b and ensure the protection of the ammunition magazines against ballistic impacts. On the figure 1c , the plates 31 are not fixed to the frame 11.
  • the carriage 2 of the turret comprises two boxes 8a and 8b which are integral with the frame 11, and which are arranged symmetrically on either side of a median plane P ( 2d figure ) perpendicular to the axis 32 of the sockets 5 receiving the pins (therefore also with respect to the axis 32 of the pins).
  • caissons 8a, 8b have an ammunition capacity which is significant, they are shielded and ensure the protection of the ammunition. They also ensure the protection of an operator who would implement the weapon manually or who would reload the magazines from the rear as will be described later.
  • the frame 11 of the turret according to the invention also makes it possible to define a turret whose length of the boxes 8a, 8b is different, and this without changing the frame. Indeed, as we see in figures 2a to 2d , the boxes 8a and 8b can have different lengths to receive more or less boxes 10.
  • the frame 11 therefore makes it possible to give a certain modularity to the architecture of the turret.
  • the figures 4a and 4b show in perspective a box 10 intended to be positioned in one of the boxes 8a or 8b.
  • This body 10 is substantially parallelepipedic and it comprises two front walls 19a and 19b which are parallel to each other.
  • the box 10 also comprises two side walls 20a and 20b which are parallel to each other and which are also perpendicular to the front walls 19a and 19b.
  • the front walls 19a and 19b both have a height which is lower than that of the side walls 20a and 20b. Such an arrangement allows strip 21 of ammunition 22 to exit box 10 above front walls 19a and 19b, while strip 21 is still held transversely by side walls 20a and 20b.
  • the 4d figure thus schematically shows five boxes 10 1 , 10 2 , 10 3 , 10 4 and 10 5 positioned next to each other in a box 8a, and whose strips 21 are connected to each other, allowing the smooth feeding of tear. Closing the lid 17 of the box 8a does not interfere with the progression of the band 21 from one box to another and up to the weapon. Thanks to the access to the internal volume of the box which is given by the lid 17, it is possible thanks to the invention to connect the strip 21 from one box to another by skipping one or more boxes.
  • the body 10 comprises a roller 25 which is positioned at a front wall 19a or 19b.
  • This roller 25 is carried by a pivoting handle 42 comprising two arms 26 which are articulated on the side walls 20a and 20b.
  • Cove 42 formed by the roller 25 and the arms 26 thus form a handle allowing the extraction of the box 10 from the box 8a as well as the transport of the box 10.
  • the handle is folded down, as shown in figure 4a , the axis 27 of the roller bears against a notch 24 of each side wall 20a, 20b and the roller 25 can freely rotate on its axis 27.
  • the roller 25 makes it possible to guide the strip 21 between a crate and its neighbor while reducing friction.
  • the strip slides smoothly from one box 10 to another.
  • the body 10 also includes a recess 34 at the level of the lower part of a front wall 19a.
  • This recess 34 is more clearly visible at the figure 4c . It is delimited at the front by a spout 35 secured to the underside. This spout 35 facilitates the manual extraction of a box through the rear opening 9a or 9b.
  • each box 8a and 8b comprises a door 28 which is arranged at its rear part.
  • the door 28 closes the opening 9a or 9b that the box 8a or 8b has at its rear end.
  • the turret comprises at least one plate 29 which is arranged behind the box 8a or 8b.
  • This plate 29 makes it possible to receive a box 10 before its introduction into the box 8a or 8b.
  • This plate 29 is more particularly visible to figure 1c and 7 .
  • the configuration of the turret according to the invention makes it possible to receive a relatively large number of ammunition boxes under a light and compact architecture.
  • the box on the right 8a can receive five boxes 10. Three boxes are introduced into the box 8a through its upper opening, after tilting the lid 17. The operator can easily connect the strips to each other to lead the strip 21 of ammunition to a feed star (not shown) of the weapon, star which is located in the vicinity of the socket 5 and which guides the strip to the corridors 7a and 7b (visible at figure 1b ).
  • the boxes 10 1 , 10 2 and 10 3 are held relative to the casing 8a by a locking means which comprises, on the one hand the spacers 16 which pass through the casing 8a and connect its two side walls, and on the other hand the upper cover 17 closing the box 8a.
  • the cover 17 thus comprises flanges 17a and 17b which block the upper edges of the side walls 20a, 20b of each box.
  • the figure 6 is a partial view which shows in cross section the upper part of the right box 8a. The cut is made at the level of a roller 25 of a box 10. It can therefore be seen in this figure that the cover 17 has a U-shaped section and comprises front 17a and rear 17b edges which bear against the upper edges of the side walls 20a and 20b of the box 10. Thanks to these front 17a and rear 17b edges, the cover 17 thus ensures that the boxes 10 are immobilized in a vertical direction. We also see on the figure 6 the hinge 18 of the cover 17.
  • the cover 17 is locked in the closed position by toggles 40. There are two locking toggles 40 which are also visible on the figure 3b .
  • the cover 17 carries a handle 39 enabling it to be opened and which is only shown at figure 1c . We see at the figure 6 that the cover 17 delimits an internal volume 41 above the boxes 10. This volume allows the movement of the strip 21 of ammunition without hindrance, from one box to its neighbor, and up to the supply corridors 7a or 7b of tear.
  • box 8a The rear opening 9a of box 8a allows the introduction into box 8a of two other boxes 10 4 and 10 5 . These boxes are put in place by an operator located at the rear of the turret and who is therefore protected by the shields 15a, 15b, 31 of the latter.
  • the bands 21 of ammunition 22 which are in each box 10 are connected to each other.
  • the connections are made after the boxes 10 have been placed in the box in question.
  • the strips are connected through the upper opening of the box 8a before closing the cover 17.
  • the rear boxes 10 4 and 10 5 are immobilized axially by the support of the box 10 4 on the box 10 3 and the support of the door 28 on the box 10 5 , door which thus forms part of the locking means of these boxes.
  • door 28 (see the figure 7 ) will comprise one or two latches 36, for example latches each comprising a rod 36a pushed by a spring 36b and which engages in a collar 37 (or a bore) carried by a wall of the box 8a or 8b.
  • latches 36 for example latches each comprising a rod 36a pushed by a spring 36b and which engages in a collar 37 (or a bore) carried by a wall of the box 8a or 8b.
  • the boxes 10 4 and 10 5 are immobilized transversely by the side walls of the box 8a or 8b.
  • the left box 8b contains only two boxes and it is therefore always supplied by the rear opening 9b closed by a door.
  • a sixth box (not shown but denoted 10 6 ) for the box 8a (or a third box for the box 8b), an additional box which will remain positioned on the rear plate 29 and which may be topped with a protective cover (not shown).
  • the door 28 then remains open and a means of locking this additional box with respect to the plate will be provided, for example a latch engaging in the spout 35 of the lower part of the box 10 6 .
  • the two boxes 8a and 8b each comprise a cover and a certain number of boxes which can be put in place through the upper opening of the box.
  • Other crates are also put in place through the rear opening.
  • each box 8a and 8b has only one rear opening.
  • the crates are then always put in place from the rear of the turret.
  • This embodiment only comprises a limited number of boxes, three at most per box.
  • the sockets 5 receiving the pins of the weapon extend above the boxes 8a and 8b receiving the ammunition.
  • the trunnions may advantageously extend to the outer end of the sockets and a member (for example a sighting means) may be fixed to the end of the trunnions.
  • the aiming means will then follow the aiming movements of the weapon. It will be advantageous to provide a removable fixing device for this sighting means, for example a splined shaft retained by a screwed nut.
