Description

The invention relates to a weather protection awning with the features specified in the preamble of claim 1. Such an awning is from the EP 0 207 040 A1 or EP 2 733 303 A1 known. These documents disclose inclined awnings with two frame fields, in which the awning fabrics and their drop profiles are guided on a central, common frame strut. The latter has no height adjustment function for changing the inclination of the awning fabrics or their drop profiles relative to the other frame struts.

Conventional awnings, such as articulated arm awnings in particular, are only intended as sun protection as they tend to form a water bag when exposed to rainwater, which can lead to damage or destruction of the awning if the weight increases. In order to prevent the formation of water bags, such awnings usually have an inclination which, according to the relevant standard, should be at least 14 °. If there is a deviation from this value, the manufacturer must indicate the limit value at which the water begins to drain.

From the DE 20 2004 014 799 U1 it is already known in connection with the fight against water bag formation to provide the awning fabric of a conservatory awning in the edge area with water outlet openings towards the awning's failure profile. This means that no water bag can form at the lowest point of the awning, as the water can run out through the openings onto the roof of the conservatory. A weather protection function is not addressed with this awning.

Through obvious prior use - see http://www.weinor.de/pergotex2/ - A so-called pergola awning is known, in which a support frame with side guide rails is to be positioned above a protected area, such as a terrace, by a support device, for example in the form of support posts or by lateral attachment to a building. In this an awning cloth is arranged on and off mobile. The awning fabric is extremely stretched to prevent water sack formation in this way. In addition, parallel to the drop profile, support profiles are incorporated into the awning fabric at regular intervals, which run in the side guide rails for the drop profile, so as to also counteract sagging of the awning fabric. In the retracted state, only the drop profile is retracted in this type of awning, the sections of the awning fabric lying between the support profiles then being formed as hanging folds, which leads to an unattractive canopy look. This well-known pergola awning also requires a certain inclination in order to master the problem of rain and water bag formation.

In order to offer a comprehensive weather protection function not only against solar radiation, but also against rain and avoiding a water bag problem, the subsequently published patent application DE 10 2016 218 147 A1 proposed to keep the water-impermeable awning fabric in an at least partially extended position by holding its leading edge pointing in the extending direction in a drop profile slidably mounted on the supporting frame and by sliding its side edges lying parallel to the extending direction in the supporting frame. Furthermore, at least one water drain opening is provided in the central area of the awning fabric. Finally, is below the at least one water drain opening a water drainage device for guiding away the water running through the at least one water drain opening from the protected area.

This weather protection awning is characterized by the above features in that it can be installed without any inclination, the tendency towards water bag formation then being used for drainage. Since the awning is held clamped on four sides, the sag of the fabric is most pronounced in its central area, which is also referred to as the so-called "pillow effect". When the rain is applied, the water runs in this direction, where one or more water drainage openings are provided with a water drainage device arranged underneath. In this respect, the rainwater is drained from the top of the awning, so that no water bag with a corresponding damage potential can develop. At the same time, the protection area under the open awning remains protected from rain, since the rainwater is directed away from the protection area via the drain opening (s) and the drain.

If this type of weather protection awning is now to be greatly expanded in size, the support frame is generally designed with two or more essentially horizontal frame fields which have a common frame strut on their respective adjacent sides. The drop profile and the awning fabric of the respectively adjacent frame field are then guided in this common frame strut.

Since the support frame is still only supported by pillars at its four outer corners, the outer frame struts will bend with increasing span. This deflection of the outer, across to the extension direction of the awning frame struts, which support the common inner frame strut, it then entails that these inner frame strut (s) are lower in level than the parallel outer frame struts. As a result, the centrally arranged water drainage openings in the awning would no longer be located at their lowest point and a water bag would form when it rained.

To solve this problem, the invention proposes, according to the characterizing part of claim 1, the height of the common frame strut on which awning fabrics and drop profiles of two adjoining frame fields are guided. In this way, the deflection of the outer frame struts holding this common frame strut can be compensated and both awning fabrics can be adjusted exactly horizontally again. The common frame strut is formed in two parts from a horizontal, stationary bearing profile and a height-adjustable coupling rail to which the awning fabrics and their drop profiles are guided. This allows the functions of the stable storage of the awning fabric and the drop profile on the one hand and their height adjustability on the other to be divided between two different construction elements, which can then be optimally adapted to their task.

Preferred embodiments for realizing the height-adjustable frame strut (s) are specified in the dependent claims.

Good guidance of the coupling rail on the bearing profile over its entire length can be achieved by the preferred further development, according to which the coupling rail has a hat-like cross-sectional area, with which it is telescopically slidably mounted on a corresponding base area of the bearing profile transversely to its longitudinal direction.

According to a further preferred embodiment, at least two, preferably three, height adjustment devices are provided for the coupling rail at the two ends and in the middle of the coupling rail. A vertical adjustment of the coupling rail that is sufficient in terms of adjustment range and accuracy can thus be achieved. This can also be adjusted inclined to the horizontal by the two end height adjustment devices. The third, central adjustment facial expression can in turn compensate for bending of the common frame strut.

A structurally simple but effective embodiment of the height adjustment device is provided by an adjusting screw which is arranged on the bearing profile and on which the coupling rail is supported.

The set screw, which is designed as a threaded bolt, is adjustably mounted in an internal thread of a respective rotatably mounted counter block, which can be inserted in a longitudinal guide of the bearing profile. The height adjustment device is stably supported on the bearing profile by means of this counter block, which makes the adjustment mimic insensitive to the high mechanical loads that are caused by the awning being exposed to wind and water.

A further preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the setscrews are connected to the coupling bar with their ends facing the coupling bar in such a way that the pulling screws and compressive forces can be transmitted to the coupling rail. This makes it possible for the coupling rail to be placed under tension vertically to its longitudinal direction and thus for example to be brought into an upwardly convex state along its longitudinal direction. A deflection of the common frame strut can thus be leveled particularly precisely by a corresponding adjustment of the coupling rail.

Furthermore, the bearing profile can be designed as a hollow chamber profile with an intermediate wall, in which a guide groove extending in the longitudinal direction of the profile is created to form the longitudinal guide for the counter block. This guide groove in the intermediate wall not only serves to hold the counter block, but also ensures stiffening of the intermediate wall and thus the entire bearing profile due to the bent profile profile, thus fulfilling an advantageous double function.

A further development of the invention provides that the adjusting screws engage with their shank through a first guide groove in the guide groove of the bearing profile and with their end facing the coupling rail through a guide hole in an intermediate wall in the base region of the bearing profile. This means that the set screws are not only guided in the counter block, but also in two further longitudinal positions, which ensures that these height adjustment devices are positioned in a neatly defined manner.

Finally, according to a further embodiment of the invention, the coupling rail can be designed as a multi-chamber profile, the central chamber of which forms a support web extending in the longitudinal direction of the profile for supporting the coupling rail on the adjusting screws. Here too the support web again has a double function due to the additional stabilization of the coupling rail profile.

How from Fig. 1 it becomes clear that a weather protection awning, designated as a whole by 1, is constructed as a free-standing area S above a terrace 2 as the area to be protected. Four vertical support posts 3 serve as support devices for the awning 1, the upper ends of which support the rectangular, horizontally arranged support frame 4. The latter consists of the longitudinal frame struts 5, 6 and the transverse frame struts 7, 8. The rectangle spanned by the frame struts 5, 6, 7, 8 is divided by a common frame strut 30 into two frame fields 31, 32, in each of which an awning fabric 9a, 9b of the weather protection awning 1 consisting of essentially water-impermeable material.

How from Fig. 1 and 3 is clear, a fabric shaft 11a, 11b (shown in dashed lines) is rotatably mounted in a transverse frame strut 7 in a housing 10a, 10b, onto which the respective awning fabric 9a, 9b can be wound when retracting and when extended in the direction of extension A ( Fig. 1 ) can be handled again. With its front edge 12a, 12b pointing in the direction of failure A, the respective awning fabric 9a, 9b is fastened to a drop profile 13a, 13b, the ends of which, in the manner known from conventional conservatory awnings, have ends at their ends in the common frame strut 30 (see Fig. 5 and 6 ) and the longitudinal frame struts 5, 6 is guided and driven.

As in Fig. 5 and 6 It can also be seen that the awning fabrics 9a, 9b are held in guide rails 18, 19 with the full length of their side edges 16, 17 running parallel to the extension direction A in a manner known per se, so that between the side frame struts 5, 6 and the common frame strut 30 and the Awning cloth 9a, 9b a tension force can be transmitted and no gap remains. This system is commercially available, for example, for the applicant's products under the name "tracfix".

In the extended state of the weather protection awning 1 shown in the drawings, the awning fabrics 9a, 9b are held taut by the corresponding connections with a drop profile 13, fabric shaft 11 and side guide rails 18, 19, so that only a very small sag occurs due to gravity. When rain is applied in this state, the rainwater collecting on the awning fabric 9 then runs to the central longitudinal center line M of the awning fabrics 9a, 9b, as shown in FIG Fig. 1 is indicated by dashed lines. Along this longitudinal center line M - i.e. in a centrally located area of the respective awning fabric 9a, 9b - a row of water drainage openings 20 running parallel to the extension direction A is now incorporated into each awning fabric 9a, 9b, which are, for example, round, punched out and edged welded holes. Through this the rainwater can run down and is there in each case by a drainage channel 21 arranged below the awning fabrics 9a, 9b (see Fig. 8 ) collected as a water drainage device, which leads with a slight but sufficient slope to the narrow frame strut 8. There, the discharge channel 21 opens into a corresponding drainage channel integrated into the profile of the frame strut 8, which in turn is drained via a downpipe (not shown in more detail) in one of the support posts 3.

As from the detailed section Fig. 8 becomes clear, a groove 24 is formed in the bottom 23 of the discharge channels 21, in which an LED light strip 25 running along the discharge channel 21 is used as an accessory for the awning 1.

In order to be able to align the awning fabrics 9 of the weather protection awning 1 as horizontally as possible, the support posts 3 can have height-adjustable feet, with which a rough alignment can be achieved. For a further adjustment of the spatial position of the awning cover 9, for example, the fabric shaft 11, the drop profile 13 and the lateral guides 14, 15 can be adjustably mounted for this in the frame struts 5-8.

A problem with such weather protection awnings 1 with a plurality of frame fields R1, R2 arises from the weight-related deflection of the two frame struts 7, 8 extending transversely to the extension direction A. Thus, the common frame strut 30 is lower than the outer frame struts 5, 6, resulting in a Inclination of the two awning fabrics 9a, 9b leads, so that the centrally arranged rows of drain openings 20 no longer run at the lowest point of the respective awning fabric 9a, 9b. As a result, a water bag would form, which should be avoided for the reasons mentioned above.

To solve this problem is the in the 4 to 7 Height adjustment device shown in detail for the common frame strut 30 is provided. Basically, the latter is formed in two parts from a load-bearing, horizontal, stationary bearing profile 33 and a coupling rail 34 mounted thereon in a height-adjustable manner, to which the awning covers 9a, 9b and the drop profiles 13a, 13b are coupled. In Fig. 5 and 6 the keder-like side parts 35a, 35b shown in the guides 18, 19 are shown with the respective awning fabric 9a, 9b.

As especially from the 4 to 6 is clear, the coupling rail 34 has a hat-like cross-sectional area 36 with which it a corresponding base region 37 of the bearing profile 33 is placed telescopically displaceable transversely to its longitudinal direction in the vertical direction. This vertical telescopic shift is by comparison of the Fig. 5 and 6 good to see. The side cheeks 38, 39 of the coupling rail 34 in their hat-like cross-sectional area 36 are slightly wider apart than the two vertical cheeks 40, 41 of the base area 37 of the bearing profile 33. The two profile parts thus slide past one another when displaced in the vertical direction. At the ends of the cheeks 38, 39, box-like profile sections 42, 43 are integrally formed on the coupling rail 34 in order to reinforce the coupling rail 34.

To adjust the height of the coupling rail 34, three matching height adjustment devices 44 are provided on the common frame strut 30, in each case at the end of the frame strut 30 and in the middle thereof.

This height adjustment device 44 is based on the 4 to 6 now explained in more detail. The core of which is a vertically seated adjusting screw 45, which is designed as a threaded bolt and is provided with a hexagon socket head at its lower end 46 to be operated. This set screw 45 is seated with this end 46 in a receiving bore 60 in an upright, flat, rectangular block 47 that is inserted into a longitudinal sliding guide 48 at the bottom of the bearing profile 33. This sliding guide 48 is formed, on the one hand, by a guide groove 49 in the horizontal intermediate wall 50 of the bearing profile 33 designed as a hollow chamber profile and, on the other hand, by two webs 52 projecting upwards on the lower wall 51 thereof. At the respective positions of the height adjustment device 44, the lower wall 51, intermediate wall 50 and the intermediate wall 53 arranged in the base region 37 of the bearing profile 33 each have guide bores 54, 55, 56 through which the adjusting screw 45 engages.

On its upper end 57, the coupling rail 34 is supported with a downwardly projecting, cross-sectionally U-shaped profile support web 58, which is formed in one piece from the multi-chamber profile of the coupling rail 34.

Through the threaded engagement between the set screw 45 and an internal thread 59 in the receiving bore 60, the height position and thus that of the coupling rail 34 can be changed when the set screw 45 rotates, as can be seen by a comparison of Fig. 5 and 7 on the one hand and 6 on the other. In Fig. 5 and 7 the lowest position of the adjusting screw 45 and thus the coupling rail 34 is shown. In Fig. 6 the adjusting screw 45 is shifted upward and thus pushes the coupling rail 34 upward, which adjusts itself accordingly in height. In this way, the two awning fabrics 9a, 9b can be lifted together on the side of the coupling rail 34 - if necessary also to different degrees along the coupling rail 34 - and leveled such that their drainage openings 20 are arranged in the center and at the lowest point. In this way, the water striking the awning can be reliably drained via the drain openings 20 without the formation of a water bag.
