Description

The invention relates to a vehicle restraint system with a post, with a plate connected to the post, in particular a base plate, the plate having at least one recess spaced from the post, and with a weld seam adjoining the post and the plate and integrally connecting the post and plate, especially fillet weld, with a leg length along the plate.

In order to enable a hinge-like tilting of a post on a base plate in vehicle restraint systems, it is known from the prior art ( EP1650351 A2 ), partially reinforce the base plate to which the post is welded and via which it is also attached to a solid surface with a steel band. For this purpose, the steel strip is located on the base plate and is pulled to the base plate via anchors, which connect the base plate to the solid base and pass through circular recesses in the base plate. In the event of a correspondingly violent impact of a vehicle, the post tears above the weld seam - the purpose of the vehicle restraint system is to reduce the severity of an impact for the vehicle and thus to improve the protection of the occupants. The disadvantage is that a comparatively high amount of construction is required - for example in the mutual mechanical coordination of the base plate, steel strip, weld seam and post, in order to be able to ensure the desired behavior or the required impact properties of the vehicle restraint system.

This effort in terms of mechanical adjustment can be reduced if peeling of the post from the base plate is permitted - as is the case, for example DE6608370U disclosed. According to this, the solid welded connection between the post and the base plate is placed on one side of the post. However, peeling off the post from the base plate is disadvantageous elements swinging too loosely on a guardrail, which can be classified as problematic due to the increased risk of injury.

Furthermore, a post for a vehicle restraint system is from the DE3809896A1 known.

The object of the invention is therefore to change a vehicle restraint system of the type described at the outset in such a way that a required severity of impact can be met exactly while ensuring a low risk of injury.

Die Erfindung löst die gestellte Aufgabe durch die Merkmale des Anspruchs 1.The invention solves this problem by the features of claim 1.

Since the recess in the plate reaches the weld seam at least up to a maximum distance of one leg length, the impact force of the vehicle restraint system in the area of the post can be adjusted in a structurally simple manner by mechanically weakening the base plate. This is based on the premise that the properties of the external weld seam should not be impaired, which can be achieved by at most connecting the recess to the weld seam - and thus not weakening it. Such a recess can also be made comparatively easily in a base plate, as a result of which the impact severity of the vehicle restraint system can be set reproducibly using the criteria of the recess. In addition, this weakening of the base plate according to the invention enables a hinge-like movement of the post on the base plate in certain areas, as a result of which a peeling of the post and thus a detachment of the post from the plate can be avoided. A loose end of the post in the event of an impact is therefore not to be expected - which, among other things, can prevent danger and injury from such parts of the vehicle restraint system.
Furthermore, it can be found to be advantageous that the tearing of the plate also reproducibly reduces the forces introduced into the subsurface can be, whereby anchoring of the vehicle restraint system on solid surfaces, for example on an asphalt, concrete roadway, etc., is only possible.

In general, it is mentioned that the plate of the post can be a base plate, via which the post can be fastened to the base. However, the plate is also conceivable as a base plate, which attaches the post to the base via a further plate, preferably a base plate.

The construction of the base plate can be simplified if the recess is slit, triangular or crescent-shaped. Furthermore, such a shape of the recess can improve the reliability of the vehicle restraint system - namely by a hinge-like movement of the post.

If the recess is formed by two adjoining, straight slits, this can considerably simplify the manufacture and thus also the cost of the plate - for example by introducing the recess by means of a laser cutting process. The advantages mentioned are particularly pronounced if the two straight slots are at right angles to one another and merge into one another at one of their ends.

If the course of the outer contour of the recess facing away from the weld seam is formed from contour sections which each run parallel to the weld seam on a post side of the post, the hinge-like movement of the post to the plate can be predetermined in a structurally simple manner. The forces acting on the post in the event of an impact also lead to crack formation in the plate, which follows the post sides of the post - which determines the hinge-like movement of the post and which thus reproducibly occurs on the vehicle restraint system. The vehicle restraint system according to the invention can therefore be designed in a particularly safe manner.

A preferred direction in the hinge-like movement of the post can be determined, for example, by providing the cutout in a post corner of the post.

The hinge-like movement of the post can be given a preferred direction in the direction of travel if the recess is provided in the first post corner of the post seen in the direction of travel, which post corner faces the directional roadway.

If the plate has two recesses, which are provided on diagonally opposite post corners of the post, the vehicle restraint system can also be provided between two directional lanes with opposite directions of travel - and yet offer the function described above for each of the directional lanes. The vehicle restraint system according to the invention can therefore preferably be suitable on solid ground, for example a bridge, roadway, directional roadway, asphalt roadway, concrete roadway, etc.

The handling of the post during assembly can be made easier if the post is arranged in the center of the plate. In addition, with this central arrangement, the behavior of the post with respect to the plate can be made more angle-independent with respect to the direction of impact. In this way, for example, the possible uses of the vehicle restraint system according to the invention can be increased.

If the plate is rectangular and it has fastening holes in its plate corners for mechanical connection to a substrate, the assembly of the post can be simplified and the manageability of the vehicle restraint system can be improved.

Manufacturing the vehicle restraint system can be easier if the post is attached to the panel. In addition, in contrast to a post inserted in a recess in the plate, this can permit a deeper weld connection in the T-joint, which can lead to a mechanically particularly robust weld connection.

The integral connection between the post and the plate can be made particularly mechanically strong if the post is connected to the plate with a circumferential weld seam. In addition, a hinge-like movement can always be forced on the post by such a circumferential weld seam in the event of an impact - regardless of the angle of impact of the vehicle with the vehicle restraint system.

The construction and thus the manufacturing costs of the vehicle restraint system can be further simplified if the post has an open hollow profile.

It can prove particularly advantageous with regard to the reduction in the impact severity of the vehicle restraint system if the open hollow profile is formed by a U-profile, C-profile or Sigma profile.

The vehicle restraint system can advantageously have a mechanical connection between the plate and the solid surface. In addition, an overloading of the fastening base of the vehicle restraint system can be prevented if the first mechanical connection and the integral connection of the weld seam are mechanically stronger (for example in terms of breaking strength, tensile strength, torsional rigidity, etc.) than the plate. As a result, the vehicle restraint system according to the invention can be particularly suitable for a solid subsurface, for example on bridges, asphalt roadways, etc., in order to avoid their damage due to the forces introduced into them by the vehicle restraint system.

This mechanical connection 8 releasably fastens the plate 5 to the base 7, as shown, for example - via anchored ground anchors 8.1 and screws 8.2 interacting therewith. For this purpose, a connecting element, namely the screw 8.2 with a hexagon head, passes through a circular fastening hole 9, which fastening hole 9 is formed by a recess 10.1 in the plate 5 spaced from the post 4.

The weld seam 6 is designed as an isosceles fillet weld with the leg length z or a leg length z1 along the plate 5 - which is about Fig. 3 can be removed. However, it is also conceivable to carry out the weld 6 as a double fillet, HV seam with fillet or HY seam with fillet seam, etc., which is not shown.

According to the invention, the plate 5 has additional cutouts 10.2, 10.3, 10.4. These special cutouts 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 extend at the weld 6 at least up to a maximum distance of a leg length z, z1, but at most connect to the weld seam - as shown in the Figures 2 to 4 is recognizable.

So it shows Fig. 3 that the crescent-shaped recess 10.2 reaches up to the weld 6 and thus adjoins it, whereas the triangular recess 10.3 according to the Fig. 4 ends in front of the weld seam 6 with a distance of a leg length z, z1 or thus exactly reaches the weld seam 6 with a maximum distance from a leg length z, z1. 3 and 4 therefore show the two extreme points. However, the cutout can also reach the weld seam in the area between the two extreme points, which has not been shown in more detail.

With such a design of the cutouts 10.2, 10.3 according to the invention, in the event of an impact on the vehicle restraint system 1, it can be ensured that there is a crack formation 11 in the plate 5 along the weld seam 6, which starts from the cutout 10.2 with an impact direction 12 and at the crack ends defines an axis 13 about which the post 4 can move in a hinge-like manner with respect to the plate 5. A reproducible impact behavior of the vehicle restraint system 1 can result in such a way, which can help to particularly increase the safety of the vehicle restraint system 1 - for example in relation to a predetermined impact severity - and to reduce the forces introduced into the solid base 7.

Like the further Figures 2 to 4 Various forms of recess 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 can be imagined in detail. In addition to the crescent-shaped or triangular cutouts 10.2, 10.3 shown, a slot-shaped cutouts 10.4 is also conceivable. A variant for the latter is in the Figure 2 shown on the right. This recess 10.4 is formed by two adjoining straight slots 14.1, 14.2, which merge into one another at one of their ends and are at right angles to one another. These can also can be introduced into a plate 5 comparatively easily by means of a laser cutting method.

Of the Fig. 2 it can also be seen that the outer contour 15 of the cutouts 10.3 and also of the cutout 10.4 are each formed from two contour sections 15.1, 15.2 and 15.2, 15.3. These contour sections 15.1, 15.2, 15.3 run parallel to the weld 6 on each post side 4.5, 4.6, 4.7 of the post 4 and thus follow the course 17 of the weld 6 in this area. This can ensure that the plate 5 tears open in the event of an impact along the side of the post 4.5 and 4.6 or 4.6 and 4.7 - which results in the hinge-like movement of the post 4.

In general, it is mentioned that, for example, the respective contour sections 15.1, 15.2 or 15.2, 15.3 of the cutouts 10.3, 10.4 can be at right angles to one another, as is the case with the triangular cutout 10.3 and the slit-shaped cutouts 10.4 Fig. 2 can be seen. In general, it is further mentioned that the triangular cutout 10.3 can follow a right-angled triangle in the contour.

In addition, in the Figures 1 and 2nd shown that the recesses 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 are each at the post corners 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 of the rounded post corners 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 of the post 4 - in particular on these areas of the post corners 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 of the post 4 restrict.

The recesses 10.2 and 10.3 are each provided on the first post corner 4.1 or 4.2 of the post 4, as seen in the direction of travel 16.1 or 16.2, which post corner 4.1 or 4.2 faces the directional roadway 70.1 or 70.2 - in this way the crack formation is 11 and thus favors the hinge-like movement of the post 4.

Since the two cutouts 10.2, 10.3 are provided on diagonally opposite post corners 4.1, 4.2 of the post 4, it is possible to use the vehicle restraint system 1 for traffic routes with two directional lanes 70.1 or 70.2 with opposite directions of travel 16.1 or 16.2 - which makes them versatile in use of the vehicle restraint system 1 can be guaranteed.

The post 4 is arranged in the center of the rectangular plate 5, which ensures that the post 4 behaves essentially independently of the direction of impact 12. Furthermore, the plate 5 has in each of its plate corners a fastening hole 9 for a connecting element of the mechanical connection 8.

The post 4 is also placed on the plate 5, which guarantees a stable material connection or fillet weld. This is particularly the case in which the post 4 is connected to the plate 5 by a circumferential weld 6.

Post 4 after Fig. 1 and 2nd has a closed hollow profile 18, but - although not shown - open hollow profiles, such as a U-profile, C-profile or Sigma profile, are also conceivable.

In order to improve the hinge-like behavior of the post 4, the first mechanical connection 8 and the integral connection of the weld seam 6 are mechanically stronger than that of the plate 5. The preferably lower breaking strength of the plate 5 compared to the connections connected to this plate 5 can be ensured that, in the event of an impact, the plate 5 tears parallel to the post sides 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 or the weld 6 in accordance with the specifications of the recesses 10.2, 10.1.
