Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a method for the care and cleaning of automatic dishwashers, which removes grease and limescale deposits in an automatic dishwasher and can be used together with an automatic dishwasher detergent in a normal dishwashing cycle.
  • Care products for removing such deposits are known in the prior art.
  • the known care products are not used in normal dishwashing programs to clean dishes together with a dishwashing detergent, but are usually dosed into the empty dishwasher. This is particularly due to the fact that the known care products have a strong negative influence on the cleaning effect of conventional dishwashing detergents.
  • care products which contain at least one non-ionic surfactant and at least one acid or a buffer system comprising at least one acid and at least one base and which have a pH of ⁇ 6 in a solution of 10% by weight in water, 5, meet these requirements by having very good fat- and lime-dissolving properties and by not significantly influencing the cleaning performance of the dishwashing detergent for the dishes.
  • US 20110139182 discloses the use of a dishwashing detergent that releases at least 250 ppm of nonionic surfactant in the dishwashing cycle to clean the internal parts of a dishwasher.
  • the WO03035819 A1 describes two- or multi-phase tablets for preventing film formation on glasses during dishwashing.
  • the DE2259830 A1 as well as the DE20022229U each relate to combinations of cleaning agents and rinse aids.
  • the care product is used together with an automatic dishwashing detergent in a normal cleaning cycle for cleaning dirty items to be washed, ie in the presence of items to be cleaned (or dishes).
  • This has the advantage of preventing the machine from idling at high water temperatures. Energy and water are therefore not wasted.
  • the consumer does not have to empty the machine during daily operation, but can also clean the machine at the same time as the dishes. Due to this minimal effort for the consumer, regular cleaning of the machine is made easier. In such a case, there is no accumulation of stubborn dirt on the dishwasher that can only be removed under harsh conditions.
  • using the care product at the same time as the usual dishwashing cycle saves time, water and energy. Food residues and dirt, especially in the dishwasher sieve, are also a breeding ground for unwanted food Germs are significantly reduced and thus contribute to an improvement in the microbiological condition of the machine

Description

The present invention relates to a method for the care and cleaning of automatic dishwashers, which removes grease and limescale deposits in an automatic dishwasher and can be used together with an automatic dishwasher detergent in a normal dishwashing cycle.

The increasing use of low temperature and short programs in automatic dishwashers results in less grease residue being removed. This can lead to a buildup of these residues. Just like limescale deposits that form inside the dishwasher over time, these grease deposits can impair washing performance and cause the dishwasher to malfunction. Furthermore, incorrect use in the household, for example inadequate removal of food residue from the dishes, neglecting to clean the machine, underestimating the hardness of the water and failing to fill the salt tank for the machine's softening system, can lead to grease and/or limescale deposits. The deposits represent not only a technical but also an aesthetic problem. Food residues and dirt, especially in the dishwasher sieve, also represent a breeding ground for unwanted germs.

Care products for removing such deposits are known in the prior art. However, the known care products are not used in normal dishwashing programs to clean dishes together with a dishwashing detergent, but are usually dosed into the empty dishwasher. This is particularly due to the fact that the known care products have a strong negative influence on the cleaning effect of conventional dishwashing detergents. However, in order to simplify the use of such care products for the consumer, it is desirable to provide care products that can be used together with a dishwashing detergent in a normal cleaning cycle to clean dirty dishes and thereby efficiently remove unwanted grease and limescale deposits from the interior of the dishwasher , without significantly impairing the cleaning effect on the soiled dishes or without having a significant negative impact.

It has now been found that care products which contain at least one non-ionic surfactant and at least one acid or a buffer system comprising at least one acid and at least one base and which have a pH of <6 in a solution of 10% by weight in water, 5, meet these requirements by having very good fat- and lime-dissolving properties and by not significantly influencing the cleaning performance of the dishwashing detergent for the dishes.

The US20030148907 A1 reveals machine cleaners that should only dissolve at temperatures above 49 °C.

In the US patent application US 20110139182 discloses the use of a dishwashing detergent that releases at least 250 ppm of nonionic surfactant in the dishwashing cycle to clean the internal parts of a dishwasher.

The WO03035819 A1 describes two- or multi-phase tablets for preventing film formation on glasses during dishwashing.

From the EP1679363 A1 produces a cleaning product with a pH value between 1.8 and 2.6 that is used in the absence of a load of dishes.

The DE2259830 A1 as well as the DE20022229U each relate to combinations of cleaning agents and rinse aids.

            R1-O-(EO)m-H     (I)

  • wobei R1 eine lineare oder verzweigte, substituierte oder unsubstituierte Alkylgruppe mit 12 bis 24 C-Atomen ist;
  • EO eine Ethylenoxid-Einheit ist; und
  • m 10 bis 50 ist.
In a first aspect, the present invention is therefore directed to methods for cleaning and / or care of an automatic dishwasher, characterized in that in a normal cleaning cycle for cleaning items to be washed, in particular dirty dishes, with a machine dishwashing detergent, a care product formulated separately from the dishwashing detergent for automatic dishwashers, the care agent containing (a) at least one nonionic surfactant, preferably a fatty alcohol alkoxylate, and (b) at least one acid or a buffer system consisting of at least one acid and at least one base, and wherein a 10% by weight solution of the care product in water at 20 ° C has a pH of <6.5, preferably <6.0, more preferably 5.0-5.6, the care product being in a water-soluble packaging, in particular in a packaging containing polyvinyl alcohol foil, located and
  • that at least one nonionic surfactant is a fatty alcohol ethoxylate of the formula (I),

    R 1 -O-(EO) m -H (I)

  • where R 1 is a linear or branched, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group with 12 to 24 carbon atoms;
  • EO is an ethylene oxide unit; and
  • m is 10 to 50.

Auch werden die Speisereste und Verschmutzungen, insbesondere im Sieb der Spülmaschine, die einen Nährboden für ungewünschte Keime darstellen, deutlich reduziert und tragen somit zu einer Verbesserung des mirkobiologischen Zustands der Maschine beiIn the method according to the invention, the care product is used together with an automatic dishwashing detergent in a normal cleaning cycle for cleaning dirty items to be washed, ie in the presence of items to be cleaned (or dishes). This has the advantage of preventing the machine from idling at high water temperatures. Energy and water are therefore not wasted. Furthermore, the consumer does not have to empty the machine during daily operation, but can also clean the machine at the same time as the dishes. Due to this minimal effort for the consumer, regular cleaning of the machine is made easier. In such a case, there is no accumulation of stubborn dirt on the dishwasher that can only be removed under harsh conditions. Furthermore, using the care product at the same time as the usual dishwashing cycle saves time, water and energy. Food residues and dirt, especially in the dishwasher sieve, are also a breeding ground for unwanted food Germs are significantly reduced and thus contribute to an improvement in the microbiological condition of the machine

Suitable bases are all bases known in the art for dishwashing detergents. However, it is preferred that in the buffer system of acid and base, the base corresponding to the acid is used, i.e. for example citrate if citric acid is used as the acid. Organic acids and their corresponding bases are therefore preferably used.

The agents described herein are preferably pre-assembled into dosage units. These dosing units preferably include the amount of washing or cleaning-active substances necessary for a cleaning cycle. Preferred dosage units have a weight of between 10 and 50 g, preferably between 20 and 30 g and in particular 25 g. In order to achieve an optimal cleaning result, preference is given to agents that are in the form of a prefabricated dosing unit. The volume of the aforementioned dosing units and their spatial shape can be selected such that the pre-assembled units cannot be dosed via the dosing chamber of a dishwasher, but rather the unit must be placed directly into the interior of the dishwasher.

The agents and compositions described herein have a water-soluble coating. The prefabricated dosage units are particularly preferably formed by a water-soluble coating of a corresponding portion of the composition according to the invention, so the prefabricated dosage unit preferably comprises an agent according to the invention and a water-soluble coating/packaging.

The water-soluble covering is preferably formed from a water-soluble film material selected from the group consisting of polymers or polymer mixtures. The wrapping may be formed from one or two or more layers of the water-soluble film material. The water-soluble film material of the first layer and the additional layers, if present, can be the same or different. Films that can be glued and/or sealed to form packaging such as tubes or pillows after they have been filled with an agent are particularly preferred.

The water-soluble casings/packaging are preferably deep-drawn bodies or injection-molded bodies.

The water-soluble containers/wraps/packaging can also be manufactured by injection molding. Injection molding refers to the reshaping of a molding compound in such a way that the mass contained in a compound cylinder for more than one injection molding process softens plastically under the influence of heat and flows under pressure through a nozzle into the cavity of a previously closed tool. The process is mainly used for non-curable molding compounds that solidify in the mold when cooled. Injection molding is a very economical, modern process for producing non-cutting shaped objects and is particularly suitable for automated mass production. In practical operation, the thermoplastic molding materials (powders, grains, cubes, pastes, etc.) are heated until they liquefy (up to 180 °C) and are then injected under high pressure (up to 140 MPa) into closed, two-part dies (formerly Die) and core (formerly male) existing, preferably water-cooled, hollow molds, where they cool and solidify. Piston and screw injection molding machines can be used.

Such shaped bodies can also have one, two, three or more chambers and be filled with liquid and/or solid compositions, one of which is one of the compositions according to the invention. It is, for example, possible to close the chambers on the open side either with a second molded body or with one or more water-soluble films (in particular as described herein). So the release of the compositions in the chambers can be controlled as desired according to the desired release time, either everything can be done at once (either directly at the beginning of the cleaning cycle or at a certain point in the course of the cleaning cycle) or by varying the film composition at certain, different points in time within the dishwasher cycle (for example depending on the temperature of the washing water) be released.

It is preferred that the water-soluble coating contains polyvinyl alcohol or a polyvinyl alcohol copolymer. Water-soluble coatings that contain polyvinyl alcohol or a polyvinyl alcohol copolymer have good stability with a sufficiently high water solubility, in particular cold water solubility.

Suitable water-soluble films for producing the water-soluble coating are preferably based on a polyvinyl alcohol or a polyvinyl alcohol copolymer, the molecular weight of which is in the range from 10,000 to 1,000,000 gmol -1 , preferably from 20,000 to 500,000 gmol -1 , particularly preferably from 30,000 to 100,000 gmol -1 and in particular from 40,000 to 80,000 gmol -1 .

Polyvinyl alcohol is usually produced by hydrolysis of polyvinyl acetate, as the direct synthesis route is not possible. The same applies to polyvinyl alcohol copolymers, which are made from polyvinyl acetate copolymers. It is preferred if at least one layer of the water-soluble coating comprises a polyvinyl alcohol, the degree of hydrolysis of which is 70 to 100 mol%, preferably 80 to 90 mol%, particularly preferably 81 to 89 mol% and in particular 82 to 88 mol%.

A polyvinyl alcohol-containing film material suitable for producing the water-soluble coating can additionally contain a polymer selected from the group comprising (meth)acrylic acid-containing (co)polymers, polyacrylamides, oxazoline polymers, polystyrene sulfonates, polyurethanes, polyesters, polyethers, polylactic acid or mixtures of the above Polymers may be added. A preferred additional polymer is polylactic acids.

In addition to vinyl alcohol, preferred polyvinyl alcohol copolymers include dicarboxylic acids as further monomers. Suitable dicarboxylic acids are itaconic acid, malonic acid, succinic acid and mixtures thereof, with itaconic acid being preferred.

Ebenfalls bevorzugte Polyvinylalkoholcopolymere umfassen neben Vinylalkohol eine ethylenisch ungesättige Carbonsäure, deren Salz oder deren Ester. Besonders bevorzugt enthalten solche Polyvinylalkoholcopolymere neben Vinylalkohol Acrylsäure, Methacrylsäure, Acrylsäureester, Methacrylsäureester oder Mischungen daraus. In addition to vinyl alcohol, also preferred polyvinyl alcohol copolymers include an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, its salt or its ester. In addition to vinyl alcohol, such polyvinyl alcohol copolymers particularly preferably contain acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylic acid esters, methacrylic acid esters or mixtures thereof.

It may be preferred that the film material contains further additives. The film material can, for example, contain plasticizers such as dipropylene glycol, ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerin, sorbitol, mannitol or mixtures thereof. Other additives include, for example, release aids, fillers, crosslinking agents, surfactants, antioxidants, UV absorbers, anti-blocking agents, anti-adhesive agents or mixtures thereof.

Suitable water-soluble films for use in the water-soluble wrappings of the water-soluble packaging according to the invention are films sold by MonoSol LLC, for example under the names M8630, C8400 or M8900. Other suitable films include films called Solublon® PT, Solublon® GA, Solublon® KC or Solublon® KL from Aicello Chemical Europe GmbH or the VF-HP films from Kuraray.

The use of the care product according to the invention in a water-soluble coating has the advantage that, in contrast to the usual bottles, which are closed with a wax seal, which only dissolves at high water temperatures, the pre-proportioned dosage units can be used at lower temperatures and therefore possibly earlier during the cleaning process or during the rinsing cycle. A dosing unit pre-proportioned in this way usually takes up less space than one of the standard bottles previously used, which either have to be hung in the machine or placed in the cutlery basket. It can also be placed anywhere inside the dishwasher.

In the method according to the invention, the care product according to the invention can be used before or during Running through a dishwashing program (in the presence of items to be cleaned, in particular dirty dishes) either before the start of the main wash cycle or during the main wash cycle, they are metered into the interior of a dishwasher. The dosage or entry of the agent according to the invention into the interior of the dishwasher can be done manually. In various embodiments, the care product is dosed into the interior of the automatic dishwasher directly at the beginning of the cleaning cycle, preferably before the automatic dishwasher detergent. The care product is preferably dosed into the interior of the dishwasher before or at the beginning of the washing cycle and before the machine dishwashing detergent is dosed via the dosing chamber at the start of the main wash cycle.

Beispiel 4: FettentfernungExample 4: Fat removal

In order to determine the performance of a care product against grease, the filter of the automatic dishwasher was first contaminated with grease in order to then determine the performance of the care product in this soiled machine:
  • Machine: Bosch SMS 86M12
  • Grease contamination: 5g butter + 5g margarine
  • Product: A commercially available machine dishwashing cleaner that allows the desired grease buildup in less than 10 cycles. For example, formulations with a sufficient amount of drying surfactant are suitable.

Before passing through, the filter (two parts) is weighed dry. The grease is placed directly in the upper basket of the machine and the dish cleaner is placed in the dosing compartment. A cycle is then run with the “Glass 40°C” program. You then remove the filter, let the remaining water drain for 30 minutes and use a scale to determine the amount of fat built up. The process is repeated until a fat mass of approx. 10 g is built up.

Then you put the dirty filter back into the machine, put the dish cleaner in the dosing chamber and the care product formulation to be tested on the floor of the washing compartment and run a "Glass 40°C" program. The filter is then removed again and weighed after draining for 30 minutes. This determines the amount of fat removed by the product and the amount of fat remaining is given as a percentage of the original amount of fat.

The E4 formulation (21 g) was tested with various commercially available dishwashing detergents. The remaining amount of fat with the care product was 23 - 32% lower than the remaining amount of fat without the care product.

Beispiel 5: KalkentfernungExample 5: Limescale removal

Marble slabs with a size of approx. 15cm * 7.5cm and a thickness of approx. 0.5cm are washed in a dishwasher under certain conditions. The removal and the lime-dissolving capacity are then determined by reweighing. Suitable slabs can be obtained, for example, from Naturstein Kohlenberg in Düsseldorf, Germany as IPP test slabs made of Bianco Carrara "CD" marble in the format 150 / 75 / 5 mm. The marble slabs are removed from coarse dirt and dust using a dry cloth. They are then rinsed with ethanol and wiped again with a dry, clean cloth, then left to air dry for about 5 minutes. The plates are now marked by engraving and weighed on an analytical balance.

Three marble slabs are placed in the top rack of the dishwasher. The machine cleaner to be tested is placed on the floor of the washing compartment and the washing program (50°C) is started. At the end of the program, the marble slabs are dried in a drying cabinet at 105°C for 2 hours. After complete cooling, the lime-dissolving ability of the machine cleaner is determined by reweighing.
