Abstract

The present invention relates to a cardboard box for transporting legs of ham, filled meat products or the like. The cardboard box (1) is formed by a lower base (2), an upper base (3), a lower side wall (4), an upper side wall (5), and two side faces (6, 7). The box is characterized by gripping means (9) and rolling means (8), and in that the lower side wall (4) is arranged between the bases (2, 3) and formed by at least two sections (4', 4") joined to one another by means of fold lines (10), where the gripping means (9) are fixed to the upper side wall (5), and where the rolling means (8) are fixed to the section of the lower side wall (4") joined to the lower base (2). The box is lightweight, cost-effective and easy-to-assemble and makes transport easier.

Description

    Object of the invention
  • The present invention relates to a cardboard box for transporting legs of ham, filled meat products or the like.
  • An object of the invention consists of making transport easier, both from the packaging site to the point of sale, and from the latter to the buyer's home.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide a lightweight, cost-effective and easy-to-assemble box to make the manufacture and storage thereof easier.
  • Background of the Invention
  • Legs of ham and filled meat products placed on the market today are generally vacuum-packed, wrapped in netting and/or a plastic cover to preserve the product and to assure the wholesomeness thereof.
  • At times, these packed legs of ham or filled meat products are placed in boxes to make transport thereof easier. These boxes can sometimes be provided with handles to make the handling thereof even easier. However, due to the high weight of a leg of ham, which can range between 6 and 10 kilos, carrying a box, even one with handles, can be problematic for many people because it is a considerable weight to be held hanging from the hand if the box has handles, or to be held in the arms if the box has no handles.
  • There is therefore a need in the state of the art for a box for transporting legs of ham, filled meat products or the like which is provided with technical means that make the transport thereof easier.
  • Description of the Invention
  • The cardboard box for transporting legs of ham, filled meat products or the like proposed by the present invention is an improvement over what is known in the state of the art given that it satisfactorily achieves the objectives indicated above as ideal for the art.
  • The invention consists of a cardboard box, the cardboard being corrugated or compact cardboard, formed from a laminar surface provided with fold lines to afford a lower base, an upper base, a lower side wall, an upper side wall, and two side faces. The box further comprises gripping means and rolling means. The lower side wall is arranged between the bases and is formed by at least two sections joined together longitudinally by means of fold lines. The gripping means are fixed to the upper side wall, and the rolling means are fixed to the section of the lower side wall joined to the lower base of the box to thereby make the transport thereof easier.
  • By providing the box with gripping means and rolling means, the invention allows transporting legs of ham, filled meat products or another type of products by pulling, in a manner similar to how a suitcase is transported. The invention therefore allows effortlessly transporting both the box and its content from the warehouse or point of purchase to where the user wishes.
  • Furthermore, by providing the lower side wall with a beveled configuration formed by two sections joined together longitudinally, and each of them joined to each of the bases of the box, the invention allows placing the rolling means at an angle, closer to the ground. The user can therefore transport the box more comfortably.
  • Furthermore, since it is made of corrugated or compact cardboard, the box is lightweight and cost-effective. Furthermore, since the box is collapsible, it can be stacked easily, taking up less space.
  • According to a preferred embodiment, the upper side wall is formed by at least two sections joined together longitudinally by means of fold lines, where one of the sections is joined to the upper base, and where the gripping means are fixed to the section of the upper side wall joined to the upper base of the box. The invention therefore affords a very elegant and uniform box, with the two side walls thereof being the same, and the gripping means located closer to the lower base to thereby allow the user to handle and transport the box more comfortably.
  • According to another preferred embodiment, at least one of the side faces comprises auxiliary gripping means for making the transport of the box easier. The invention therefore makes the transport of the box even easier by incorporating more gripping means.
  • Preferably, the auxiliary gripping means are arranged at one end of the side face, close to the lower base. The invention therefore allows carrying the leg of ham in a balanced manner, since the weight thereof is not uniform along its length.
  • According to another preferred embodiment, the gripping means are formed by a handle made of cardboard or a textile material, for example, cotton.
  • Although the corrugated or compact cardboard box is an article that is widely used in products of this type, the invention presents clear differentiating elements with respect to the cardboard boxes of the state of the art, and these elements are ultimately what makes the transport easier and more comfortable, resulting, on one hand, from the trapezoidal format of the box, and on the other hand and more importantly, from the wheels which make the transport thereof easier.
  • Description of the Drawings
  • To complement the description that is being made and for the purpose of aiding to better understand the features of the invention according to a preferred practical embodiment thereof, a set of drawings is attached as an integral part of said description in which the following has been depicted with an illustrative and non-limiting character:
    • Figure 1 shows a side perspective view of a cardboard box according to a preferred embodiment of the invention.
    • Figure 2 shows a front perspective view of the cardboard box shown in Figure 1.
    • Figure 3 shows a side perspective view of the upper side wall of the cardboard box shown in Figures 1-2.
    • Figure 4 shows a side perspective view of the lower side wall of the cardboard box shown in Figures 1-3.
    • Figure 5 shows the plan view of the cardboard box shown in Figures 1-4 unfolded.
    Preferred Embodiment of the Invention
  • Figures 1 to 4 show different views of a preferred embodiment of the invention. As shown, the cardboard box 1 is formed from a lower base 2, an upper base 3, a lower side wall 4, an upper side wall 5, and two side faces 6, 7.
  • According to the invention, the box 1 further comprises gripping means 9 and rolling means 8 to allow transporting the box 1 by rolling.
  • The lower base 2 and the upper base 3 are the main surfaces of the box 1. There are arranged between said bases 2, 3, side faces 6, 7, extending on either side of the bases 2, 3 that has a larger dimension, and the lower side wall 4 and upper side wall 5 extending on either side of said bases 2, 3 that has a smaller dimension.
  • As seen in the drawings, and particularly in Figures 4 and 5, the lower side wall 4 is formed by at least two sections 4', 4" joined together longitudinally by means of fold lines 10, thereby forming a beveled-type lower cover. This configuration allows placing the rolling means 8 closer to the lower base 2, offering greater stability to the box 1 and allowing the user to pull the box more comfortably and with less effort.
  • Likewise, preferably and as seen in the drawings, particularly in Figures 3 and 5, the upper side wall 5 can be formed by at least two sections 5', 5" joined together longitudinally by means of fold lines 10, thereby forming a beveled-type upper cover. This configuration allows placing the gripping means 9 closer to the lower base 2, allowing the user to pull the box more comfortably.
  • Preferably, the gripping means 9 are formed by a handle made of cardboard or a textile material, for example, cotton.
  • Finally and as seen in Figure 1, the box 1 can have auxiliary gripping means 11 for making transport of the box 1 easier. Preferably, these auxiliary gripping means 11 are fixed to one end of the side faces 6, 7 of the box 1, preferably, to the end closest to the lower base 2. These auxiliary gripping means 11 allow carrying the box 1 horizontally.
  • Finally, in view of this description and drawings the person skilled in the art will understand that the invention has been described according to several preferred embodiments thereof, but multiple variations can be introduced in said preferred embodiments without departing from the object of the invention as claimed.
