  • Invention relates to switches mounted onto gas taps of electronically or manually controlled LPG and NG operated all heaters, cookers (home and industrial type ovens, furnaces, combi boilers etc.) and driven by tap movement and applying electric energy to ignition system.
  • The invention particularly relates to enhancement of pressure force between contacts, strengthening contacts touching and stabilizing contact angle between switch and contact by means of providing immediate, quick and impact shape change of contact moving in contact mechanism controlling electric current passing through switch.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE RELATED ART
  • Today switches are used in electronically or manually controlled LPG or NG operated heaters, cookers (home and industrial type ovens, furnaces, combi heaters etc.) to supply energy to ignition unit used for igniting gas. The said switches in general consist of contact mechanism located between an upper cover and a lower cover, and gas tap providing motion of the said contact mechanism. Contact mechanism is the mechanism which controls electric current passing by means of contacting and separation of moving parts located therein with each other upon motion of gas tap.
  • In the present applications, problems of no contact in contacts of switches are experienced. Upon inspection it is seen that adequate pressure is not applied to contacts allowing pass of electric current, that the contacting surfaces of the contacts expose to oxidization, blackening, wearing due to arc occurring during process of switching, and therefore, switches fail to function and such problems are frequently encountered as complained by end users.
  • In conclusion, new switch embodiments for applying new solutions eliminating the above disadvantages are needed.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • In this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of the igniting switches (60) being subject of the invention have been described in a manner not forming any restrictive effect and only for purpose of better understanding of the matter.
  • Figure 1 show an illustrative view of electric circuit diagram of more than one switch (60) connected in parallel. The said switch (60) is opened-closed and passing or cutting of electric current between N-L points shown illustratively is provided. The said switches (60) operation is dependant to gas tap (90) motion where it is mounted, and gives electric to ignition system.
  • Figure 2 shows exploded perspective view of switch (60) disclosed hereunder. Fixed contact (42) made of special alloy phosphorous bronze and supplying electric current is mounted on fixed contact housing (13) located on main frame (10) made of plastic materials resistant against strokes and heating while moving contact (43) is seated on the moving contact housing (11) located on the main frame (10). Silicone coated electric cables (80) conveying electricity sit into cable ducts (14) on the main frame (10) and provides tight connection to cable mounting ducts (41) on the fixed contact (42) and moving contact (43) and thus provide conductivity. Hub (30) exposed to pressure upon rotation of moving contact (43) is sit into hub housing (12) on the main frame (10). Upper part (20) used to fix (position) the switch (60) to gas tap (90) is mounted to press from top to keep all components together. Also thrust pins (23) located on upper part (20) are pressed onto silicone coated electric cables (80) and provide tight contact of fixed contact (42) and moving contact (43) with conductor in the electric cables (80). Figure 4 shows the picture indicating thrust pins (23) located on inner surface of the upper part (20) made of plastic material. Thus, the mounting process of the switch (60) is completed.
  • Figure 5 shows perspective view of switch (60) disclosed hereunder. Figure 6 shows sequential switch group (70) where it is connected to electric cables (80). Being a component of cooker unit, the gas tap (90) is adapted to tap neck (32) space. Mechanism is triggered by means of hub (30).
  • Operating principle:
  • The operation principle of the said switches (60) is as follows: one or more than one switch (60) is mounted in parallel to each other and sequential switches groups (70) are formed as shown in Figure 6. Then switch (60) is fit onto gas tap (90) by means of gas tap neck (32) made in a manner fitting gas taps. Figure 7 is the view of switch (60) disclosed hereunder in the position where it is mounted to gas tap (90). The gas tap spindle (93) of the gas burner desired to be burned is rotated in clockwise direction by means of gas tap knob (92). When the gas tap knob (92) rotates the gas tap spindle (93), it also rotates the hub (30) of the switch (60) having that gas tap (90). The hub (30) rotates together with and in the same direction as the gas tap spindle (93). The angular change occurring in switch (60) hub (30) with rotation of the gas tap spindle (93), positions and shape changes of fixed contact (42) and moving contacts (43) are shown in figures 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5.
  • Angular position of the hub (30) in the beginning is shown in Figure 3.1. In the beginning β=0. After hub (30) is over a certain angle (β > 0) upon rotation motion (Figure 3.2) pressure is applied to moving contact (43) through thrust extension (31) on the hub (30) via thrust extension (44) of the moving contact. Meanwhile, it remains in a position where it leans against thrust extensions (15) located on main frame (10) by means of contact touching ends (46) located on terminal extension (45) in V-form of moving contact (43). The moving contact (43) is pressed down as a result of pressure applied via pressure extension (44) of moving contact (43) on the hub (30), and the moving contact (43) standing on base extensions (15) located on the main frame (10) is tightened after springing downwards over the moving contact base ends (46). When rotation is over a given point, it will not resist the pressure and transforms and bends down immediately. Moving contact (43) changes form immediately upon bending motion. As a result of immediate form change, moving contact (43) changes its position and makes an impact contact with fixed contact (42). As shown in figure 3.3 moving contact touch end (47) contacts the fixed contact touch end (48) having narrow surface (49) structure thereunder.
The switch (60) can also be operated together with a gas tap (90) operated in clockwise direction. Way of operation is similar and it is provided by means of making reaching angle (34) of thrust extensions (31) having entrance and exit in and from moving contact thrust extensions (44) in opposite direction.
  • When the tap spindle (93) is rotated, the gas passes through the pipe and goes to burner, also when the contact is provided, the switch (60) transmits energy to lighter and the operation is completed with gas ignition. After contact is established, the movement of moving contact (43) stops. Movement of the hub (30) continues with motion of tap spindle. After the fixed contact (42) and moving contact (43) contact, the hub (30) moves in a manner to meet the motion space in rotation direction of tap spindle (93). Meanwhile, moving contact (43) released from the pressure thereon (Figure 3.4) returns to its former position and shape upon springing of terminal extension (45) in V-form, and contact ends. If the hub (30) is rotated in the opposite direction (clockwise) from this position, the embodiment of the trust extension (31) on the hub (30) does not allow re-contact between the moving contact (43) and the fixed contact (42). When the hub (30) is rotated in opposite direction, thrust extension (31) on the hub (30) lifts the moving contact thrust extensions (44) of the moving contact (43) in opposite direction of fixed contact (42) and provides no contact when the hub (30) is rotated in clockwise direction (Figure 3.5).
