Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of fuse holders, and in particular fuse holders for automotive applications.
- fuse holders of this type can be used to protect charging circuits of electric vehicles.
- Such circuits can conduct currents of 63A at 250 Volts for example. With such intensities, the risk of overheating or even fires is to be taken into consideration.
- these fuses are placed as far upstream as possible in the charging circuit, for example, at the charging socket, in order to protect the vehicle and its possible occupants.
- a fuse holder comprising two housing elements.
- these two housing elements form, once assembled, a closed tube at each of its ends. They then allow to house at least one fuse.
- Several fuses may possibly be housed in parallel between two housing elements.
- Each fuse has two connection terminals.
- Each housing element has at least one contact for making an electrical connection with one of these terminals.
- two contacts are provided, each respectively located in a housing element. Each contact is intended to then establish an electrical connection with one of the two connection terminals of a fuse.
- the fuse holder further comprises a support in which can be housed one or more fuse (s). And the fuse holder is positioned within the two housing members joined together so that each terminal is electrically connected to a contact.
- the support makes it possible to increase the accuracy of the positioning of a fuse in a fuse holder, in particular with respect to the electrical connection between contacts and terminals, and this to the benefit of the reliability of the function performed by this fuse.
- the carrier In order to facilitate insertion and positioning of a fuse in a carrier, the carrier is movably and / or removably mounted on one of the housing members.
- the support can occupy an open position in which the fuse can be mounted in the support.
- the carrier is moved from this open position to a closed position in which the carrier is at least partially inserted into the housing member on which it is mounted.
- the support is guided precisely by guide means in this housing element.
- Each fuse terminal is thus also guided precisely towards a contact of this housing element, so that in the closed position, each contact of this housing element and a terminal of the fuse are engaged one in the other.
- the support can be moved to its closed position only if the fuse is well oriented and positioned in its support. Since the size of the outer casing of the support provided with a poorly positioned fuse is greater than that of the outer casing of the support in which each fuse is correctly positioned, an aperture fitted into the casing element on which the fuse is positioned is provided. bracket is mounted movably. Thus, if a fuse is not properly positioned in the holder, it can not be moved through this opening.
- the orientation and the positioning of a fuse in its support must be particularly precise, in particular, for example, if the contacts are female contacts each respectively receiving a pin extending from a terminal of the fuse, or vice versa.
- the support may comprise a slot, also rectangular and substantially perpendicular to the axis of the pin. The pin can then be fitly inserted into this slot, in an orientation allowing alignment of the pin with the opening of the female contact to make possible, or at least facilitate, the introduction of the pin into the female contact, during the movement of the support from its open position towards its closed position and / or when the housing elements are brought together towards one another, with a view to closing them.
- Retention means holding the fuse to that can contribute to accurate positioning of the fuse in its holder and, therefore, fuse in the fuse holder.
- these locking reinforcing means may comprise a tongue that can not engage behind a contact ("behind” here is not relative to the insertion direction of the contact in its housing in a housing element, but rather relative one side of the contact perpendicular to this direction of insertion), or a contact pawl, if this contact is correctly positioned in the housing member in which it is mounted.
- the support can not be moved, or at least not completely, from its open position to its closed position, thus indicating to the operator that the contact is not correctly positioned in the housing element in which it is mounted.
- the fuse holder may also include a seal to seal between the two housing elements.
- the support may include at least one holding member such as a tab holding the seal on one of the housing members when the other housing member is not assembled therewith.
- the housing member on which the gasket is mounted may have a flange overhanging the gasket to protect it when the housing members are not assembled with each other, for example during transport steps.
- fuse holder 1 An example of fuse holder 1 is shown on the figure 1 .
- This fuse holder 1 is inserted between two cable portions 2, in an electric circuit, such as a load circuit of an electric vehicle.
- Each cable portion 2 is electrically connected, for example by crimping or soldering to a contact 3 (for example a DCS1 6.3 female contact of Delphi -visible on the figure 5 ).
- Each contact is housed in a housing element 4, 5.
- a first housing element 4 comprises locking means 6 for holding a second housing member 5, forming a cover. Once assembled, the first and second housing elements form a tube closed at each of its ends by a wall 7 provided with a passage 8 for each cable portion 2.
- this fuse holder comprises, in addition to the contacts 3 and the first 4 and second 5 housing elements, a fuse holder 9, a fuse 10 and a seal 11.
- the fuse 10 is housed in the support 9, it - Even housed in the tube consisting of the first 4 and second 5 housing elements assembled with each other.
- the gasket 11, mounted on the first housing element 4 is interposed between the first 4 and second 5 housing elements, in the manner of an interfacial seal, in order to seal between them.
- the locking means 6 here consist of two elastic fasteners 6a disposed diametrically opposite to the first housing element 4 and each provided with a notch 6b respectively (see FIG. Figures 4A and 4B ) in which is snapped a lug 6c located in correspondence on the second housing element 5.
- the first housing element 4 consists essentially of a substantially cylindrical base 4a with an outer face 4b partially surrounded by a skirt 4c.
- the fuse 10 comprises two terminals 10a, from each of which extends a pin 10b forming a male contact adapted to be electrically connected to a contact 3 of the female type.
- the support 9 has a cradle shape with two lateral walls 12 extending longitudinally between two flanges 13.
- Two lateral elastic ears 14 each extend respectively from a side wall 12.
- Each of these side lugs 14 is provided with one notch 14a to form retention means of a fuse 10 in its support 9, as illustrated by the figure 3B .
- the support 9 also comprises guiding and fixing means 15 ( Figure 3A ). These comprise two legs 15a, diametrically opposite, each comprising respectively a hook 15b for retaining or locking the support 9 on the first housing element 4. These two tabs 15a are guide means which guide and accurately position the support 9 relative to the first housing element 4 .
- Each flange 13 has a slot 13a.
- Each slot 13a has a substantially rectangular shape, open on an edge of the flange 13 facing the top of the support 9.
- Each slot 13a is intended to receive a pin 10b of the fuse 10.
- Each pin 10b has a cross section (that is, that is perpendicular to the insertion direction of the pin 10b in a contact 3, which also corresponds to the assembly direction A of the first 4 and second 5 housing elements), essentially rectangular.
- Each pin 10b can then be snugly inserted into a respective slot 13a, as shown in FIG. figure 3B .
- the support 9 is also provided with locking reinforcing means 16. These consist essentially of a tongue 16a extending longitudinally towards the outside of the support 9, from each flange 13. The function of these tongues 16a is described in more detail, later, in connection with the figure 5 .
- the Figures 4A and 4B respectively illustrate the open and closed positions of the support 9 on the first housing element 4.
- the support 9 In the position corresponding to the Figure 4A , the support 9 is in the open position, or pre-locked. In this position, the fuse 10 can be introduced into the support 9 without having to dismount it from the first housing element 4.
- the support 9 remains maintained, but mobile, on the first housing element 4 thanks to the fact that the hooks 15b remain engaged in later recesses 17.
- the support 9 When the fuse 10 is well positioned between the lateral lugs 14, under the notches 14a and with the terminals 10a inserted in the slots 13a, the support 9 can be moved longitudinally, towards its closed position, inside a cavity 18 formed in the base 4a of the first housing element 4 and opening on an opening 19. In this movement, the tabs 15a slide in grooves 20 disposed longitudinally, diametrically opposite, on the outer face 4b of the base 4a.
- the support 9 in the first housing element 4 it can only be correctly oriented, so that the opening of the female contact 3, which is housed in the first housing element 4, aligned with the corresponding pin 10b.
- the support 9 can not be moved to the closed position (that corresponding to the Figure 4B ) and the second housing element 5 can not be locked on the first housing element 4. Thus the operator is warned of a mounting error of the fuse 10.
- the support 9 can be moved up to in its closed position, in which the hooks 15b snap into anterior recesses 21 (see figure 5 ).
- the second housing element 5 can then be threaded on the support 9 and around the base 4a, to be locked by the locking means 6.
- the second housing element 5 comprises keying means 25 allowing an operator to correctly orient it with respect to the support 9.
- the second housing element 5 can only be correctly oriented, so that the opening of the female contact 3 which is housed therein is aligned with the corresponding pin 10b.
- the first 4 and second 5 thus assembled casing elements form a closed tube and kept tight thanks to the interfacial seal 11 and to the unitary wire joints 24 crimped with the cables 2 on the contacts 3.
- the locking latches 22 are placed, by elastic return, in a cutout 23 of the contacts 3 provided for this purpose.
- the tabs 16a can come Be placed behind the contacts 3, and even more precisely behind the pawls 22. If on the contrary a contact 3 is not properly inserted into its housing, the corresponding pawl 22 blocks the passage of a tongue 16a and the support 9 does not can come into closed position, or the second housing member 5 can come completely lock on the first housing element 4. In both cases, the operator is notified of a mounting error.
- the seal 11 is protected by a flange consisting of the skirt 4c.
- the seal 11 is protected even when the second housing element 5 is not assembled with the first 4.
- the tabs 15a can hold the seal 11 on the first housing element 4, under the skirt 4c, when the support 9 is in the closed position (which advantageously corresponds to the delivery position of the assembly consisting of the first housing element 4 and the support 9).
- the second housing element 5 closely encloses the support 9, in which is precisely housed the fuse 10, which itself is connected to contacts 3 reliably and securely locked in their respective housing by the means locking reinforcement 16.
- the fuse holder according to the invention may comprise a single support but may accommodate several fuses or several supports each housing a or more fuses.

Description
The invention relates to the field of fuse holders, and in particular fuse holders for automotive applications.
In particular, fuse holders of this type can be used to protect charging circuits of electric vehicles. Such circuits can conduct currents of 63A at 250 Volts for example. With such intensities, the risk of overheating or even fires is to be taken into consideration. In order to eliminate, or at least limit, this type of risk, it is planned to equip the load circuits with fuses. Advantageously, these fuses are placed as far upstream as possible in the charging circuit, for example, at the charging socket, in order to protect the vehicle and its possible occupants.
For this purpose, there is provided according to the invention a fuse holder according to
The fuse holder further comprises a support in which can be housed one or more fuse (s). And the fuse holder is positioned within the two housing members joined together so that each terminal is electrically connected to a contact.
The support makes it possible to increase the accuracy of the positioning of a fuse in a fuse holder, in particular with respect to the electrical connection between contacts and terminals, and this to the benefit of the reliability of the function performed by this fuse.
In order to facilitate insertion and positioning of a fuse in a carrier, the carrier is movably and / or removably mounted on one of the housing members. In this case, the support can occupy an open position in which the fuse can be mounted in the support. Then the carrier is moved from this open position to a closed position in which the carrier is at least partially inserted into the housing member on which it is mounted. During this movement of the support, the support is guided precisely by guide means in this housing element. Each fuse terminal is thus also guided precisely towards a contact of this housing element, so that in the closed position, each contact of this housing element and a terminal of the fuse are engaged one in the other.
It can also be provided that the support can be moved to its closed position only if the fuse is well oriented and positioned in its support.
The orientation and the positioning of a fuse in its support must be particularly precise, in particular, for example, if the contacts are female contacts each respectively receiving a pin extending from a terminal of the fuse, or vice versa. Thus, if the pin has a rectangular section, the support may comprise a slot, also rectangular and substantially perpendicular to the axis of the pin.
Retention means holding the fuse to that can contribute to accurate positioning of the fuse in its holder and, therefore, fuse in the fuse holder.
It is also possible to provide a support with locking reinforcement means (also called in the English terminology "Primary Lock Reinforcement "or" Terminal Position Assurance "). For example, these locking reinforcing means may comprise a tongue that can not engage behind a contact ("behind" here is not relative to the insertion direction of the contact in its housing in a housing element, but rather relative one side of the contact perpendicular to this direction of insertion), or a contact pawl, if this contact is correctly positioned in the housing member in which it is mounted. In other words, if the locking reinforcement means can not be engaged behind this contact, the support can not be moved, or at least not completely, from its open position to its closed position, thus indicating to the operator that the contact is not correctly positioned in the housing element in which it is mounted.
The fuse holder may also include a seal to seal between the two housing elements. In this case, the support may include at least one holding member such as a tab holding the seal on one of the housing members when the other housing member is not assembled therewith. This arrangement allows delivery of the fuse holder with a pre-mounted support on a housing element and with a seal already in place thereon, while the contacts, the cables and the fuse will be mounted at one stage higher.
The housing member on which the gasket is mounted may have a flange overhanging the gasket to protect it when the housing members are not assembled with each other, for example during transport steps.

When the
