Description

The invention relates to a coupling head for detachable vehicles, in particular rail-bound vehicles with a coupling head housing and with a front plate closing the coupling head housing on the front side, coupling head housing and end plate being releasably connected to one another.

Coupling head housings for couplable vehicles have been described several times in the technical and patent literature and are therefore known in different embodiments.

The publication DE 11 245 35 B describes, for example, a housing of an automatically rigid central buffer coupling, consisting of an end plate with a pyramid-shaped projection or a corresponding recess in a buffer surface at an end piece for connecting the housing to a coupling rod and a coupling head housing located between the end plate and the end piece. The coupling head housing is composed of individual molded parts in a cellular construction. The housing body consists of four molded parts, namely from two identical middle parts, which represent the upper and lower wall of the housing body, and two identical side parts, the middle parts and the side parts each being mirror images of one another. The middle parts are designed as forged parts and the side parts as sheet metal parts.

In contrast, is from the EP 1 805 073 B1 a medium buffer coupling in a modular design is known. This consists of a coupling head for detachable vehicles with a coupling head housing. An end plate is then arranged on the end of the coupling head housing.

It is possible to mount different end plates on different coupling heads.

The coupling head housing is generally funnel-shaped and has a connection area, for example an end piece, on the opposite side of the end plate, which is suitable for receiving a coupling rod. The coupling rod is in turn displaceable or pivotable on the vehicle in height and side, so that the funnel-shaped configuration can accommodate the counterpart with corresponding tolerances. The coupling head housing has a first connection area for fixing the end plate and a second connection area, in particular a coupling element for receiving the coupling rod. The actual coupling element for producing a firm and detachable connection with another coupling element is arranged within the coupling head housing. This coupling member is firmly connected to the clutch housing. As a rule, the coupling head housing is a casting on which the coupling elements or coupling mechanism are arranged.

Most of the known designs of middle buffer couplings and coupling head housings are designed or manufactured as a complete unit. The coupling head housing is connected to the face plate with several screw connections. In order to compensate for the corresponding distance depending on the constructional embodiment, provision is made to arrange a spacer element in the form of a plate between the coupling head housing and the end plate. Several screw connections ensure a reliable connection between the coupling head housing and the end plate.

Due to the design of the coupling head housing, the manufacture is complex. On the one hand, it is important to ensure that voids are avoided during manufacture. To ensure the quality, there are appropriate Quality control measures required after production. For example, a corresponding crack test using fluorescent substances or an X-ray test is required. The production time of a coupling head housing made of cast material is long and also requires additional rework. In particular, the reworking of the coupling elements must take place, namely on the one hand towards the front side and on the other hand also to the side of the coupling rod.

Due to the fact that the coupling head housing is constructed in such a way that it has to absorb both compressive and tensile forces, which are in the range of 1000 to 1500 kN, the corresponding dimensions of the wall thicknesses but also of the geometry must be provided explicitly. The coupling head housing is exposed to both compressive and tensile forces.

The object of the invention is to design a coupling head housing for a central buffer coupling such that, in addition to reducing the overall length, simple assembly is possible.

The solution according to the invention is characterized by the features of claim 1. Advantageous refinements are described in the subclaims.

The problem is solved in that the coupling head housing, viewed in the longitudinal direction, has connection regions at the respective opposite end regions, namely a first connection region for establishing the connection to an end plate and a further connection region for connection to a coupling rod, the coupling head housing being in one piece as a forged component is designed and the first connection area on the coupling head housing is provided by at least two contact areas which are arranged separately from one another and which define locally limited force introduction areas and which are at least indirect Support is formed on partial surfaces of the end plate and the coupling head housing is connected in the first connection area to the end plate via non-positive connections.

In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the first connection area is formed by at least four finger-like or pair-like fork-like projections on the coupling head housing and having the contact surfaces.

The basic idea of the invention is to make a coupling head housing simpler, such that it is easier to assemble on the one hand, but is also easier to manufacture on the other. This is achieved in that the coupling head housing is constructed differently from the prior art. Starting from a forged component, this has finger-like at least two, preferably at least four, contact surfaces which are separated from one another and can be releasably connected to the end plate via bolt connections. As a result, defined and, above all, locally limited areas of force introduction are specified, which enable locally limited introduction of force into the coupling head housing.

Since the coupling head housing is a forged component, the lines of force within the coupling head housing are homogeneous and can thus be optimally derived via the coupling head housing in the direction of the coupling rod.

In contrast to cast iron production, the production time of a forged component is shorter. This is due to the fact that complex quality assurance processes such as X-rays, blowholes or similar are no longer necessary. In addition, the postprocessing processes are shorter, particularly in the areas where additional elements are connected. An even shorter manufacturing time is achieved in that, in particular for connection to the end plate, there is no flat contact of the coupling head housing, but rather one punctiform, finger-like concerns, namely in particular in defined locally limited areas, particularly preferably in four areas. The remaining end face of the coupling head housing pointing towards the end plate is spaced from the end plate in the assembled state and is not in contact with the latter. Due to the fact that there is a point contact on the end plate and the coupling elements are arranged within the coupling head housing in such a way that their forces are derived directly at the end piece towards the coupling rod, the load paths and directions in the coupling head housing are separated. This means that corresponding pressure forces are derived via the support points or support areas that are in contact with the end plate, whereas the tensile forces are conducted directly via the coupling elements and the coupling element. Due to this distribution of forces, the coupling head housing can also be dimensioned differently and more simply.

Because of this dimensioning, however, there is also the advantage that the overall length of the coupling head housing together with the end plate is considerably shorter compared to the prior art.

In a particularly advantageous development, the contact surfaces of the first connection area are arranged on both sides of a plane, the position of which can be described by a longitudinal axis extending in the longitudinal direction of the coupling head and a perpendicular to the latter. The arrangement is preferably symmetrical. This training allows easy manufacture.

The coupling head housing and end plate are connected either directly or with the interposition of compensating elements. In the latter case, the coupling head housing is supported on the end plate via the compensating elements. Coupling play and manufacturing tolerances can thus be compensated for.

The compensating elements can be individual elements or a plate-like element which is adapted on one end face to the contour of the end plate.

The individual non-positive connection is designed as a bolt connection or screw connection.

In a particularly advantageous development, at least one centering device is provided for centering the coupling head housing and optionally the end plate and / or the at least one compensating element. This considerably simplifies the assignment and assembly.

In the simplest case, the at least one centering device comprises pin-like elements which are arranged so as to engage in the opposing components - coupling head and compensating element and / or end plate. The single pin-like element can be formed in one piece with one of the components arranged opposite one another or else can be connected to it.

In addition to the coupling head housing, the end plate is preferably also designed as a forged component.

The second connection area on the side opposite the end plate on the coupling head housing is preferably formed by an end piece which is formed integrally with the coupling head housing and which can be coupled to a coupling rod.

Coupling elements are accommodated in the coupling head housing, which are preferably formed at least in part in one piece with the coupling head housing.

In Figure 1 is a coupling head 1, which is part of a central buffer coupling for vehicles, in particular rail vehicles, shown in an exploded view. The coupling head 1 consists of a coupling head housing 2 and an end plate 3 which can be connected at the end to the coupling head housing 2. At least one compensating element for compensating coupling play and manufacturing tolerances can be provided between the coupling head housing 2 and the end plate 3, but not shown here. The compensating element can be designed as a spacer plate.

The coupling head housing 2 and the end plate 3 are connected to one another via at least one non-positive releasable connection, which is preferably designed as a bolt connection 5. The bolt connections 5 provide that screws 6 are used, which are inserted through bores 7 provided on site on the coupling head housing 2 and in either a spacer plate (not shown here) or at least threads 4 provided in the end plate 3 (not in the drawings) shown in detail) work together. A releasable connection between the coupling head housing 2 and the end plate 3 is thereby achieved.

Die Anordnung der Verbindungselemente beziehungsweise Mittel erfolgt innerhalb des ersten Anschlussbereiches 13.The connection between the face plate 3 and the coupling head housing 2 takes place via a first connection area 13 of the coupling head housing 2. The arrangement the connecting elements or means take place within the first connection area 13.

Centering bolts 8 are provided in order to enable simple assembly and correct fixing of the coupling head housing 2 in relation to the end plate 3.
which are either arranged on the side of the end plate 3 or on the side of the coupling head housing 2. When the coupling head housing 2 is brought together with the end plate 3, they penetrate into the opposite component and thus achieve a centrally positioned arrangement of the coupling head housing 2 in relation to the end plate 3.
For this purpose, the centering bolts 8 can be inserted into one of the components - coupling head housing 2 or end plate 3.

The coupling head housing 2 is designed such that it preferably has four contact surfaces 9 on its side facing the end plate 3 (three of which can be seen in the drawings). The contact surfaces 9 are provided in such a way that they are supported only on part of the end plate 3, whereas the rest of the part is provided with a recess 10. The individual contact surfaces 9 are thus designed to be separate from one another and to be free of connection to one another in the connection plane. This means that the coupling head housing 2 is supported finger-like on four areas on the end plate 3 and is connected there accordingly. The remaining cutouts are preferably semicircular. On the one hand, this is due to the construction, since in the present case it is a forged component, but on the other hand it also requires a flow of force, the force being transmitted from the end plate 3 to the coupling head housing 2 via the finger-like contact surfaces and correspondingly to the second connection area 11, which can be designed as a coupling element, and which is arranged on the side opposite the end plate 3 is passed.

This further coupling element is followed by a coupling rod, not shown in the drawings, which in turn is at least articulated to the vehicle.

The coupling members 12 necessary for the coupling process are arranged within the coupling head housing 2. The coupling element 12 provided here is arranged directly in the area of the second connection area 11, so that the tensile force generated by the coupling element 12 can act directly on the connection area 11 and thus on the coupling rod.

The coupling head housing 2 itself is not or only slightly loaded by the tensile load on the coupling member 12.
Because of the finger-like design and the corresponding contact surfaces 9, a large overall depth is not necessary for the coupling head housing 2, which is why the entire coupling head 1 is made smaller in its dimensions compared to the prior art.

Due to the redesign of the coupling head housing 2 as a forged component and the reduction to individual, in particular four contact surfaces, which enter into a corresponding connection with the end plate 3, a very compact coupling head 1 has been created, which is reduced in its entire length of the component and is suitable for certain economical ones Markets.

The coupling head housing 2 is designed in the manner of a half-shell with four open-ended cutouts 10, in particular openings, which form the four projections provided for forming the connection region 13. The projections forming the connection area 13 are thus forked or running finger-like on the coupling head housing. The projections converge in the direction of the second connection region 11 or are coupled to one another in the region of the second connection region. The contact surfaces 9 are thus separated from one another or arranged spatially separately in the connection plane. The arrangement of the contact surfaces takes place outside the area of the introduction of the forces transmitted via the coupling elements. For this purpose, the contact surfaces 9 are preferably arranged on both sides of the coupling members 12. The arrangement is based on a theoretical longitudinal axis L, which coincides with the coupling axis, preferably symmetrically with respect to a plane which is formed by the coupling longitudinal axis and a perpendicular thereto. The forces introduced via the contact surfaces are entered on the coupling head housing 2 in the second connection area 11.

The contact surfaces 9 of the coupling head housing 2 are supported on the end plate 3 on partial surfaces 14, which are preferably also provided as separate, i.e. surfaces arranged separately from one another are formed on the end plate 3.

The coupling members 12 can be integrally formed with the coupling head housing 2 or connected to it.
