Definitions

  • the invention relates to a security element for the production of documents of value, such as banknotes, checks or the like, which has an upper side on which a microrelief structure is formed, which has at least two partial regions, each of which has a plurality of trough-shaped or rib-shaped, juxtaposed and have along a longitudinal direction extending, reflective or backscattering structural elements, wherein the longitudinal directions of the subregions are different.

  • the invention also relates to a manufacturing method for a security element for documents of value, such as banknotes, checks or the like, wherein a substrate is provided which has a top side on which a microrelief structure having at least two partial regions, each having a multiplicity, is formed Having channel-shaped or rib-shaped, juxtaposed and along a longitudinal direction extending, reflective or backscattering structural elements, wherein the longitudinal directions of the subregions are different.

  • Such optically variable surface patterns can produce running effects or three-dimensional representations.

  • WO 2012/069163 A1 discloses a security element which consists of retroreflectors which are provided with a color-changeable coating.
  • groove structures are disclosed as retroreflectors that realize pumping and running effects Pumping or running effects refer to moving color changes, and it is also mentioned that such groove structures can be used to produce three-dimensional images by varying the channel direction.
  • WO 2011/079347 Al discloses how three-dimensional effects can be generated with gutter or rib-like structures. For this purpose, either the structures of the contour of the contour can follow a curved surface or, with the structures, different views of an object for the left and right eye of an observer can be provided.
  • WO 2012/048847 A1 discloses a security element that provides representations composed of points or lines that seem to float in front of or behind the plane of the security element. These points or lines are referred to as light spots and are given by focus points and lines of hollow or cambered mirrors. To achieve this effect, a viewer must see the light spots of a lens structure with both eyes. In a cylindrical lens structure, the corresponding focal lines are perceived at different locations with both eyes. The height or depth at which the light spot floats in front of or behind the plane of the security element depends on the focal length. The necessary structures are relatively expensive to manufacture.

  • An observer sees no longer individual spots of light, which originate from the dissolution of a lens structure, but only the totality of all structural elements, which are no longer to be resolved with the naked eye, without magnifying means.
  • the imaging properties of the structures according to the invention are no longer perceptible to a viewer.
  • the invention thus utilizes an optically variable area pattern based on optically effective relief feature elements that fan incident parallel light about a given axis defined by the longitudinal axis of the features. If optically effective structural elements are arranged in the various subregions, which fan the light around different axes, these subregions appear to a viewer depending on the viewing angle (in each case relative to the light source) light or dark. If you turn such a security element in its plane defined by the surface, you can see how individual areas alternately become light or dark. The brightness of the individual regions depends on the case of perpendicularly incident light, whether the longitudinal direction is transverse to an observation plane or not. The observation plane is defined by the perpendicular to the surface of the security element, the viewing direction and the illumination direction. stressed.
