  • PBT polybutylene terephthalate
  • a capsule is a self-stable component, so a capsule differs from, for example, a soft pad and, of course, a large box or bag, which is intended as a reserve pack -Portion- capsule to understand.
  • the present patent application essentially defines three parts on a capsule, namely capsule head, capsule wall and capsule foot.
  • the capsule foot is the designated outlet side for the brewed beverage, so for example, the coffee beverage, the tea beverage, the milk drink or play meadow of a soup drink.
  • the bottom closure is arranged.
  • a capsule In conventional machines on the market, such a capsule can usually insert in approximately horizontally lying position. However, the capsule can be easily put on the capsule foot, that is, on the usually arranged there closure foil.
  • the brewing medium is to be introduced into the capsule at the capsule head in the case of a first type of brewing machine, and it is intended to leave the capsule through the bottom closure at the capsule foot.
  • the direction of passage of the brewing medium is provided exactly the other way round, that is to say for entry into the capsule through the bottom closure, usually a foil, and for exit through the capsule head.
  • the capsule wall is ideally designed to be essentially frustoconical or otherwise tapered from the capsule foot to the capsule head so that it can be more easily released from a receptacle in the brewing machine after use, ie after brewing, and ideally falls out of the receptacle even by gravity ,
  • the retaining surfaces that is, those surfaces which are to cooperate with the recording in the machine, are therefore ideally non-cylindrical shaped.
  • the "surrounding" around the capsule wall is simply a geometric circular path which is orthogonal to an upright axis of the capsule, with the upright axis extending from the capsule root to the capsule head.
  • the capsule can be produced very inexpensively, for example by injection molding, at the same time very high manufacturing precession and production speed are achieved. Even plastics, which greatly reduce the passage of gas, are still so leaky in the rule that a diffusion through the wall takes place, along with the associated loss of aroma quality of the brewed beverage.
  • a plastic should have as many of the following properties: o Viscosity number 80 to 100, especially 83 to 93, especially about 88 cmVg, according to testing standards ISO 307, 1157, 1628, with a Solution of 0.005 g / ml phenol 1, 2 dichlorobenzene 1: 1; o water absorption (saturation in water at 23 ° C) 0.3 to 0.7%, especially about 0.5%, according to test standard ISO 62 (analog); o Moisture absorption (saturation in normal climate with 23 ° C and 50% relative humidity) 0.2 to 0.3%, especially about 0.25%, according to test standard ISO 62 (analog); o melt volume rate MVR (at 250 ° C, and 2, 16 kg) 90 to 130, in particular 100 to 120, especially about 110 cm 3/10 min, according to ISO 1133 test standard.

  • the invention is expressly not limited to PBT, but generally to the above value ranges.
  • PBT the polymer for the preferred embodiment.
  • the polymer for the preferred embodiment are PBT plastics aroma-tight, but a modification can also be made well. Due to the modification of the plastic is so soft that it can be sealed without special measures with a sealing ring on the brim of his foot to build up the Brühbuchs in the brewing machine. This makes the capsule not only durable without repackaging, but still low in production.
  • the plastic obtained in a suitable design is so brittle that piercing knife for filling the Brühmediums still puncture well.
  • the modification can very well have an admixture, so that a second material is added to the plastic.
  • the admixing preferably takes place before the molding process for the capsule, that is, for example, before the extrusion. Above all, it is easy to imagine that mixing takes place in the extruder or subsequently to extrusion.
  • the preferred embodiment of the capsule comprises a thermoplastic elastomer, especially thermoplastic rubber. Rubbers have proven to be ideal in prototype tests. [19] The modified plastic can be processed very easily if the admixture is homogeneous.
  • the capsule head and / or the capsule wall may comprise a gas barrier material, in particular in the form of an admixture, wherein the gas barrier material reduces a gas passage of oxygen relative to the plastic.
  • the barrier material if present, has silicon, in particular silicon dioxide, and / or that the barrier material has a Mischpolyamid and / or that the barrier material is applied by means of an alcoholic solution, especially sprayed or in an immersion bath applied.
  • Silicon can not only be applied well to a plastic wall using various physicochemical processes, but can even result in a continuous glass layer when applied properly. This is according to prototype experiments of the inventors in any case so dense that the capsule without any additional packaging in the form of bags or the like can be eelaeert at least one year without losing a significant proportion of the flavor. The thicker the glass layer is made, the closer the capsule encloses the aroma. Some prototypes have shown such a low gas penetration that the inventors assume that even after two years no noticeable reduction of the aroma has occurred.
  • the barrier layer is applied to the wall as a surface coating, specifically directed towards the outside and / or the inside of the capsule.
  • a surface coating specifically directed towards the outside and / or the inside of the capsule.
  • an alignment of the barrier layer towards the inside of the capsule is preferred. This is because that then any mechanical action on the surface from the outside, for example, when handling the end user with the capsules, not the tightness of the capsule is compromised.
  • the surface coating should ideally cover the entire surface of the capsule wall and the capsule head to the inside and / or outside.
  • the surface coating can be a plasma evaporation layer.
  • a plasma evaporation can be carried out very well, for example with silicon dioxide.
  • the stated object solves a capsule as a container for receiving a Brühguts such as coffee, tea and the like, as well as for brewing in the capsule with addition of a brewing medium, in particular hot, almost boiling or boiling Water, wherein the capsule has a capsule head for the passage of a perforator for adding the Brühmediums, further comprising a closed with a bottom closure, especially a bottom foil, closed capsule foot, and a capsule wall which extends from the capsule head to the capsule foot, preferably see with an at least substantially frustrokoni or tapered from the capsule foot to the capsule head shape, the capsule is preferably filled with the Brühgut, wherein the capsule is characterized in that the capsule head has a standing on the capsule foot capsule flat head region, said the head area closed continuously n is formed, in particular with a wall thickness of at least about 0.3 mm or at least about 0.35 mm, wherein within the head region a weakened area is provided, which has a smaller wall thickness
  • the weakened area created in this way can be called "puncture ring" in a nutshell: it ensures that the capsule head is predominantly of such a large material thickness that the aroma-tightness and the mechanical properties are minimized Stability of the capsule are ensured, but the material weakening of the piercing ensures that the sting knife for filling the Brühmediums can easily pass through the capsule head.
  • the weakened area can have a wall thickness of between about 0.15 mm and about 0.3 mm, which has proven to be very advantageous in experiments. Above all, with such a thin material, too little force builds up during grooving, so that the likelihood that the piercing knives might become jammed is reduced.
  • the weakened region both radially outward, ie towards the capsule wall, and radially inward, ie towards the center of the capsule head, adjacent stronger wall thicknesses than in the weakened area finds, the weakened area preferably a running around in terms Having the wall thickness weakened ring, then the guided against the weakened ring opening knife again easier to pass through than by the adjacent wall thickness. Because then the weakened ring is supported radially inside and radially outward stronger.

[95] Different alternatives can be considered as production methods: if a barrier layer is to be provided and if it is inside, for example, a two-component nenten- injection molding process can be applied. Either the wall is first sprayed, then the barrier layer is sprayed on. Or the barrier layer is sprayed and the wall sprayed on.
  • An alternative to the two-component injection molding process is, for example, spraying the wall, whereupon the barrier layer can be sprayed on or plasma-coated.
