figures 5 and 6 , thedoor sensing switch 58 includes anhelical compression spring 62 made of electrically conducting material and aspring holder 60 preferably made of plastic material. Thehelical compression spring 62 has a first end which abuts against alateral projection 64 of the first electric contact N. Thespring holder 60 has aseat 63 for thehelical compression spring 62. Theseat 63 has an open end 65 (figure 5 ) through which a second end of thehelical compression spring 62 is exposed. - The
spring holder 60 is movable between a disconnected circuit position shown infigure 5 and a connected circuit position shown infigure 6 . Thecompression spring 62 elastically biases thespring holder 60 towards the connected circuit position, in which thespring holder 60 abuts against theintermediate contact 56. - As shown in

As best shown infigures 5 and 6 , theramp portion 68 has a raisedportion 70 and arecessed portion 72. When theretaining slider 14 is in the rest position, corresponding to the open condition of the door, theprojection 66 abuts against the raisedportion 70 of theramp portion 68 as shown infigures 3 and5 . In this condition thespring holder 60 is in the disconnected circuit position and, as described above, the electric connection between the first electric contact N and thebimetal strip 48 is interrupted. - When the
retaining slider 14 is in the locked position corresponding to the closed condition of the door, theprojection 66 is situated in correspondence with therecessed portion 72 of theramp 68. In this condition, thespring holder 60 is biased by thespring 62 in the connected circuit position. In this condition, thespring 62 closes the electric connection between the first electric contact N and thebimetal strip 48. - When the
door sensing switch 58 is in the open condition, electric current cannot flow through thebimetal strip 48 and thePTC resistor 52. Accordingly, thebistable switching device 28 is in the de-energized position shown infigure 3 . In this position the lockingpin 38 is raised and the retainingslider 14 is unlocked and free to move in the direction A. - When the retaining
slider 14 is moved in the locking position by thehook 18, thedoor sensing switch 58 moves to the closed position and closes the circuit between the first electric contact N and thebimetal strip 48. In this condition, when voltage is applied between the electric terminals N and L, electric current flows from the first electric contact N to the second electric contact L through thedoor sensing switch 58, theintermediate contact 56, the adjustingscrew 54, thebimetal strip 48, thePTC resistor 52 and thestrip spring 30. The PTC resistor warms up and thebimetal strip 48, which is in touch with thePTC resistor 52, gets warm too and pushes thePTC resistor 52 towards thestrip spring 30. When thestrip spring 30 undergoes a certain displacement, thehoop spring 32 jumps over into the energized position shown infigure 4 . In this condition, the lockingpin 38 moves to the locking position and engages the lockinghole 42 of the retainingslider 14, thereby locking the retainingslider 14 in the locking position. At the same time, thecontacts
