Description
The present invention relates to an insulating element according to the preamble of
The insulating element according to the invention is designed to insulate the gap between adjacent facade elements heat-insulating. For this purpose, the insulating element has at least a first region, which is formed from a foamed insulating material.
Such an insulating element for building facades is known in principle from the prior art. Building facades are increasingly being designed today as metal-glass constructions. Such facades have a support structure made of metal as a basic framework, in which individual flat facade elements, such as glass windows or metal or plastic elements are used. The support structures usually consist of vertically extending post elements and horizontally extending locking elements which interconnect the vertically extending post elements.
To attach the facade elements to the support structures of said building facades, cover elements are connected to the carrier profiles. The facade elements are clamped using a fastening screw between the carrier profile and the cover. Consequently arises at the junction of the individual facade elements a gap, which would constitute a weak point in the insulation of the building facade without the provision of further measures.
For this reason and in the course of steadily increasing requirements for thermal insulation, it is known in the known from the prior art facade constructions to equip the gap between the facade elements with the above-mentioned insulating elements made of foamed plastic material. These elements usually extend between the edges of adjacent facade elements, substantially parallel to the edges, bridging the distance between the beam profile and cover elements.
From the prior art, it is also known that building facades must be constructed with a sufficient fire protection. The conventional insulating elements can not be used on such fire-resistant curtain walls, since the combustible, foamed thermal insulation material would favor the spread of a fire. The additional introduction of a fire protection compound in the gap between the facade elements would not lead to the desired result, since thus undesirable thermal bridges could arise.
Based on the above-mentioned problem, the present invention seeks to provide an insulating element, which ensures optimum thermal insulation in the gap between two adjacent facade elements and at the same time is fire-resistant, d. H. prevents the spread of a fire.
According to the invention the above object is achieved by the subject matter of
Consequently, the insulating element according to the invention is characterized in that it has at least one second region with an intumescent material.
Intumescent materials are those which foam under the action of heat, forming an insulating and heat-resistant foam ("thermal foam"), which creates a seal of residual openings which prevents the passage of smoke and toxic gases.
Thus, it can be achieved by the insulating element according to the invention that thermal bridges in the gap are effectively prevented by the first region of the insulating element. In addition, it is ensured that the intumescent material propagates in the event of fire and seals the gap space fireproof. Accordingly, the insulating element combines thermal insulation properties with an additional fire protection effect.
According to the invention, it is particularly preferred that the first region is designed to surround the second region such that the intumescent material of the second region is completely accommodated within the foamed insulating material. This ensures that the intumescent material of the insulating element in the normal state is not in contact with the other components of the curtain wall. As a result, thermal bridges, which could potentially be caused by the intumescent material, effectively prevented. In other words, the first area of foamed insulating material forms a cavity shaped as a second region within the insulating, which is filled with the intumescent material. The first area of foamed insulating material therefore represents a sheath of the intumescent material.
According to a further embodiment of the insulating element according to the invention, this further comprises a third region with an intumescent material. In general, it is conceivable to provide a plurality of separate regions with intumescent material within the insulating element. It is of course advantageous to form the first region to surround the third, as well as other areas of intumescent material such that the intumescent material of these areas is completely absorbed within the foamed insulating material. By forming several areas with an intumescent material, the foaming behavior can be optimized in case of fire. In particular, the intumescent material can thus be located in places of the gap space, which can be foamed particularly quickly and easily by the intumescent material in case of fire.
According to a further aspect of the insulating element according to the invention, the first region of the insulating element may have a connection region, which can be accommodated in a screw channel of the curtain wall. In this way, the first and second region of the insulating element can be attached to the curtain wall in one step. For this purpose, it is only necessary in particular to insert the connection region of the insulating element into the screw channel of the curtain wall. Of course, the insulating member is formed with the terminal portion so that it can be penetrated at any time by a fastening means (e.g., screw) for mounting in the screw channel of the curtain wall.
According to another implementation, the first region of the insulating element may have a multiplicity of ribs on an outer surface of the insulating element which faces away from the second region and which extend along a transverse direction of the insulating element. By the ribs of the first region a particularly advantageous thermal insulation in the gap space is achieved without exposing the facade elements unnecessary loads.
The present invention further relates to a curtain wall, which has the insulating element according to the invention, in a gap between two adjacent facade elements. In particular, the curtain wall comprises a carrier profile and a cover element connected to the carrier profile. The cover is connected via a fastening element with the carrier profile, that facade elements between the carrier profile and cover are held. The resulting gap space is insulated by an inventive insulating.
In order to prevent the formation of thermal bridges between the intumescent material and the components of the curtain wall even more effectively, it is provided according to a further aspect of the curtain wall, that between the insulating and the cover another heat insulation layer of foamed material is arranged. This further thermal barrier coating can be clamped, for example, between the facade elements and the cover and thus further improve the thermal insulation of the curtain wall according to the invention.
In the following, the insulating element according to the invention and the curtain wall will be explained in more detail with reference to the embodiments shown in FIGS.

As can be seen, results in the joint area of the two
