Definitions

  • the invention relates to a switching device suitable for a DC operation, which comprises at least one contact pair having a first contact and a second contact, wherein at least the second contact is movable to the first contact comprises.
  • It is a quenching device having a quenching chamber for extinguishing an arc occurring between the contacts, a first track arrangement for conducting an arc with a first current direction in a first direction in said quenching chamber and a second track arrangement for conducting an arc with a second current direction in a second Direction provided in said quenching chamber.
  • the two track assemblies each include a first track and a second track, the first two tracks extending from the first contact in opposite directions and the two second tracks extending from the second contact in opposite directions.
  • switching devices which have one or more current paths, which in turn comprise fixed and movable contacts.
  • the movable contacts are movable together between a closed position, in which touch the associated movable and fixed contacts, and an open position, in which forms a separation distance between the mutually associated movable and fixed contacts.
  • arcs are formed along the separation sections. The burning time of the arcs determines the switching time since the current flow between the contacts is maintained.
  • a large amount of heat is released by the arcs, which lead to the thermal destruction of the contacts and parts of the switching chamber in the immediate vicinity of the contacts and thus to reduce the life of the switching device.
  • the arcs are subdivided, for example, into individual partial arcs. Once the arc voltages are higher than the driving voltages, the arcs are safely erased.
  • An initially mentioned switching device is from the EP 2 061 053 A2 known.
  • To provide a switching device for DC applications there is proposed to use the housing of a switching device for AC applications, wherein additionally at least one magnet is provided which has a magnetic field with substantially transverse to the separation paths of the current paths of the AC switching device field lines.
  • the housing In the housing, three receiving areas are provided for each one flow path, wherein each current path is associated with a movable switching contact element and two opposing fixed switching contact elements.
  • the three movable switching contact elements are in this case jointly movable between a closed position, which corresponds to the switched-on state of the switching device, and an open position, which corresponds to a switched-off state of the switching device.
  • each current path has two separating sections which, when the movable switching contact elements are open, form between the ends thereof and the first and second stationary switching contact elements assigned to these ends. When the switching contact elements are opened, an arc forms along the separating sections, which arc can be extinguished with the aid of the arc-extinguishing devices. Because in DC applications, erasing an arc is not due to a Zero crossing of the current, as can be achieved in AC applications, it requires the provision of a magnetic field in most DC applications, which drives the arc in one of the arc quenching equipment.
  • This magnetic field is formed by permanent magnets, wherein a magnetic field is established with field lines in an orientation which extend transversely to the separation paths and generate a Lorentz force on arcs along these separation lines, which drives the arcs towards one of the arc extinguishing devices.
  • an arc is driven between a first contact pair in the direction of a first arc quenching device and the arc between a second contact pair in a second arc quenching device. Since the movement of the arcs depends on the current direction, the switching device is suitable only for one direction of current, ie polarity.
  • the switching device were also operated in a reverse current direction, the arcs would not be driven into the arc extinguishing devices, but in the opposite direction to a switching bridge. Even if one reversed the magnetic polarity of one of the arc extinguishing devices, one of the arcs would always run in the direction of the switching bridge, which would result in a reduced service life, since the switching bridge or other components would be permanently damaged or even destroyed.
  • the EP 0 789 372 B1 also shows a switching device of the type mentioned above, according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • a fixed contact is in this case provided with a fixed sheet traveler, which is designed circular arc.
  • a movable sheet traveler is provided, which can form an arc between the two bow travelers, which is moved via the arc runner assembly depending on the direction of current in different directions.
  • the latter is deflected about a center either in a first direction of rotation or in a second direction of rotation opposite to the first direction of rotation, wherein the center corresponds to the center of the stationary sheet traveler.
  • An arc having a first current direction is directed into a first arcuate channel and an arc having a second current direction opposite to the first current direction is directed into a second arcuate channel.
  • the two Bogenorganize extend around the center around and are separated by an insulating wall, juxtaposed.
  • the bow traveler channels are each part of an extinguishing device for extinguishing the arc.
  • the extinguishing devices further comprise quenching plates that extend radially with respect to the stationary blade traveler are arranged. The quenching plates are arranged such that they cover both Bogenorganizrkanäle and thus are part of both extinguishing devices.
  • the resulting arcing arc is driven in a permanent magnetic blower field in a quenching chamber, for example, a Deion-quenching chamber to extinguish the arc.
  • a quenching chamber for example, a Deion-quenching chamber to extinguish the arc.
  • the rails of the arc guiding devices each extend from the contacts outwardly diverging.
  • the switching arc is driven immediately after its formation due to the effective Lorentz force always away from the switch contacts along one of the two usually diametrically diverging track assemblies in the direction of the quenching chamber, where it usually goes out very soon upon reaching the driving voltage.
  • Object of the present invention is to provide a switching device that safely extinguishes arcs and has a longer life even at high currents and voltages.

  • closed loop means that there is a kind of closed electrical circuit that can be any geometric shape, for example in the form of a ring.
  • rails are to be regarded as “closed” if they have short interruptions, as long as the interruptions can be bridged by arcs readily.
  • the quenching device has exactly one quenching chamber and the running-rail arrangements are designed in such a way that the arc is guided into the one quenching chamber independently of the current direction and the running direction of the arc.
  • the track assemblies consist of several parts, which are positively connected with each other during assembly.
  • the two first rails can be connected to each other via a connecting bracket.
  • the connecting bracket has a recess, wherein the recess extends for centering of the arc approximately centrally along the closed loop, ie in the direction of movement of the foot of the arc.
