Sowohl der Messerwechsel als auch das Abnehmen des Führungsrings mit dem Handgriff von der Antriebswelle erfolgt verhältnismässig oft und sollte daher möglichst ohne grossen Zeitaufwand, ohne Verletzungsgefahr durch das Messer und ohne Einsatz von Werkzeugen erfolgen können. Dies wird dadurch gelöst, dass das Messer nur in Drehung versetzt werden kann, wenn die Bedienungsperson einen Hebel gegen den Handgriff bzw. das Gehäuse des Handgriffs drückt und dadurch das Messer mit der Antriebswelle erst verbindet. Das Innere des Handgriffs 3 bzw. des Gehäuses 5 weist folgenden Aufbau auf: Ein erster Bohrungsabschnitt 45 weist einen grösseren Durchmesser D auf als der zweite Bohrungsabschnitt 47 mit Durchmesser d. Im zweiten Bohrungsabschnitt 47 sitzt an dessen vorderen Ende ein Zentrierrohr 49 mit kreisrundem Querschnitt und ist stirnseitig mit einem dritten Bohrungsabschnitt 51 von nochmals kleinerem Durchmesser verbunden. Das Gehäuse 5 umfasst folglich drei hintereinander liegende, stufenförmig angeordnete Bohrungsabschnitte 45, 47 und 51. Am hinteren Ende 21 des Getriebes im Kopfstück 7 ist eine Mehrkantbohrung 53 ausgebildet, in welcher das vordere Ende 55 des Kupplungsstücks 41 drehfest gehalten wird, wenn die Antriebswelle 11 vollständig in den Handgriff eingeschoben ist (Position wie in
13 noch beabstandet zur zweiten Haltefläche 27 an der Arretierhülse 23 an. Entscheidet sich die Bedienungsperson, die Arbeit zu unterbrechen oder lässt sie die Vorrichtung aus der Hand fallen, so wird der Hebel 13 von der Spannkraft der Feder 19 im Gegenuhrzeigersinn (Pfeil T-) leicht geschwenkt. Durch die Schwenkbewegung löst sich die Lasche 57 am Hebel 13 von der ersten Haltefläche 25. Durch die Kraft der Feder 37 wird nun die Antriebswelle 11 nach rechts verschoben bis die zweite Haltefläche 27 am Rückhalteabschnitt 59 des Hebels 13 anliegt. Eine weitere Verschiebung der Antriebswelle 13 wird dadurch unterbrochen. Ein integriertes Dämpfungselement 61, z.B. ein O-Ring, verhindert und dämpft einen zu heftigen Aufprall der Lasche 59 auf der zweiten Haltefläche 27. Die Verschiebung der Antriebswelle 11 im Handgriff 3 bewirkt, dass das Kupplungsstück 41 bzw. dessen vorderes, einen Sechskantquerschnitt aufweisendes Ende, aus der Mehrkantbohrung 53 hinausgleitet und dadurch den Antriebsstrang zwischen der weiter angetriebenen Antriebswelle 11 und dem Rundmesser 10 unterbrochen wird.
