the device (1) comprises a retaining bracket (11), a needle (7) and a gripper (13) with two spreader arms (14, 15) that can be separated from one another, that the retaining bracket (11) and the gripper (13) can be moved relative to one another in a horizontal and/or vertical direction and that a complete or partial groove (12) runs around the free end of the retaining bracket (11) in order to hold the thread (5). - The device in accordance with Claim 5,
characterised in that,
the two spreader arms (14, 15) of the gripper (13) form an eyelet (18) or opening in the area of the free end of the gripper (13), and that the free ends of the two spreader arms (14, 15) preferably have a triangular cross-sectional contour (19) opposite one another. - The device in accordance with one of Claims 5 or 6,
characterised in that,
the spreader arms (14, 15) of the gripper (13) can be moved relative to one another, and that the movement of the two spreader arms (14, 15) proceeds in a plane aligned in parallel with the lengthways axis of the gripper (13).
