The present invention relates to a method and a device in the field of bookbinding for binding an inner book or a booklet, are introduced by means of a contact and wear-free punching perforating in adhesive sections of individual sheets or sheets to a secure hold of the individual sheets in the inner book or Ensure that the booklet is maintained and at the same time reduce the expense of maintaining the machines used.

STAND DER TECHNIKSTATE OF THE ART

One very simple way to tie an inner book is to stack individual sheets into a book block, stabilize the stack, and then apply adhesive to the spines of the book. In this method, it has proved to be problematic that the adhesive can penetrate only minimally between the individual sheets and creates a very small adhesive surface. Due to the small adhesive surface, the strength of the adhesive bond is relatively low, so that individual leaves often detach from the adhesive bond.

In order to achieve a higher strength of the adhesive bond, it is proposed in the prior art to roughen the spine forming side edges or folded edges of the leaves. Although one obtains a slightly increased strength of the adhesive bond, which is not sufficient for a firm grip of the leaves in the book or booklet. Alternatively, the individual sheets can be fanned out in the region of the spine, so that even adjacent areas to the folded edge or sheet edge can be provided with adhesive and a larger adhesive surface is ensured. However, this method has the disadvantage that by fanning the block spine can not be determined exactly how far the adhesive penetrates between the sides, and in particular that the adhesive penetrates equally far between each side. This results in the problem that with the help of fanning no exact connections can be achieved.

The EP 0 999 074 A1 describes another method for making booklets, wherein stacked and folded sheets are perforated along a fold edge. After perforating, the sheets are bonded with adhesive and the booklets are provided with an envelope. According to the prior art, the adhesive flows into the indentations for holding the individual sheets together and forms webs on which the individual sheets adhere. The individual neighboring leaves are not interconnected.

AUFGABE DER ERFINDUNGOBJECT OF THE INVENTION

Based on the cited prior art, it is the object of the invention to ensure a firm adhesive bond between the individual pages, which can be produced inexpensively and in a simple manner. It should also be ensured that a very accurate and stable binding of the inner book or booklet is made possible.

This object is achieved by the method for binding an inner book or a booklet according to claim 1 and the device for binding an inner book or booklet according to claim 9. Advantageous developments of the present invention are described in the dependent claims.

An inner book or booklet is bound from a plurality of individual sheets or sheets (the terms are used interchangeably), each sheet having one or two leaf surfaces each having at least one adhesive portion. The adhesive portion is preferably strip-shaped, in particular on both sides of each leaf surface, formed and arranged substantially adjacent to a sheet or folded edge of the sheet. Adjacent sheets or sheets are bound together in the bonded state in the region of the adhesive portion. In order to produce such an inner book or booklet, according to the present invention, at least a part of the sheets is provided with a perforation pattern individually or in bundles of two or more sheets in the region of at least one of its adhesive portions by means of a non-contact punching or cutting process. Subsequently, the perforated sheets are arranged one above the other in a stack so that the sheet and / or folding edges adjacent to the adhesive portions form a spine, at least the adhesive portions of adjacent sheets touching each other. To fix the inner book, an adhesive, in particular an adhesive, is applied to the spine of the book, which preferably penetrates between adhesive portions of adjacent sheets in order to join the adhesive portions in a materially joined manner.

For the purposes of the present invention, a leaf is to be understood as meaning a single leaf with a single leaf surface or a folded leaf with two leaf surfaces. In the event of a folded sheet, the two leaf surfaces can be made the same size and be virtually separated from each other by a folded edge or folding line.

The method of the invention thus includes a method of binding an inner book or booklet of a plurality of individual unfolded sheets having a single sheet surface having along at least one preferably strip-shaped adhesive portion along a sheet edge, at least one adhesive portion of a portion of the sheets or all Leaves may be provided with a perforating pattern individually or in bundles of two or more sheets by means of a contactless and wear-free punching or cutting process. Subsequently, the unfolded sheets are stacked and stabilized according to a predetermined order, so that the sticking portions of adjacent sheets or leaf surfaces contact each other. Subsequently, an adhesive is applied to the spine formed from the sheet edges to which the at least one adhesive portion adjoins, the adhesive preferably being liquid so that it preferably flows in accordance with a width of the adhesive portion between the individual sheets to connect the adhesive sections materially together. The perforation pattern can preferably be designed so that it serves as a receiving unit, in particular as a glue bag, for the adhesive. Particularly advantageous is a Perforiermuster that has no slots parallel to the edge of the sheet.

Alternatively, the method for binding an inner book or booklet also includes binding an inner book or booklet from a plurality of individual sheets having two sheet surfaces, the two sheet surfaces being separated by a fold line, and at least one adhesive portion adjacent to each Folded edge is arranged, have. For producing an inner book or booklet from a plurality of folded sheets, a part of the sheets or all sheets may be provided with a perforating pattern before folding or in bundles of two or more sheets on both sides of the folding line in the adjacent adhesive portions. Preferably, the adhesive portions are provided on both sides of the folded edge with a Perforiermuster. However, it is also possible to provide only at least one adhesive section of a single sheet surface with a perforation pattern, while the adhesive section or the adhesive sections of the second sheet surface remain unprocessed. After perforating the sheets, they can be folded along a fold line and stacked into a stack according to a predetermined order. In the stack, the folded edges form a spine, wherein the adhesive portions of adjacent leaves or adjacent leaf surfaces touch each other. After stabilization of the stack of folded sheets, an adhesive is applied to the spine of the book in order to join together the adhesive portions of the individual sheets or leaf surfaces.

Alternatively, according to the inventive method for producing an inner book or booklet from a plurality of individual folded sheets also proceed such that first the individual sheets are folded and then at least a portion of the leaves or all leaves after folding individually or in bundles of two or a plurality of sheets are provided with a perforation, wherein the perforation is in the adhesive surfaces of both leaf surfaces of the folded sheet or the folded sheets and the perforation pattern is formed by means of a contact and wear-free punching or cutting process. Subsequently, a stack is formed, so that the adhesive portions are arranged adjacent to each other and the folded edges form a spine. After stabilization of the stack, an adhesive is applied to the spine in order to connect the individual adhesive sections in a material-locking manner.

The adhesive portions of sheets arranged adjacent to the stack or adhesive portions adjacent to the stack have different perforation patterns. In an inner book or booklet of individual sheets, each with only one leaf surface, for example, only every second sheet can be provided with a perforation pattern. The Perforiermuster are preferably along and / or transverse to the edge of the sheet, adjacent to the adhesive portion, offset from one another.

When binding an inner book of a plurality of folded sheets, for example, the adhesive portions of the two leaf surfaces of each sheet may be formed differently, in particular offset along and / or transversely to the Blattfalzkante. In this case, adjacent folded sheets may be formed the same, but with adjacent adhesive portions having different perforation patterns, respectively. Alternatively, only the sticking portion of a single sheet surface of a folded sheet may be provided with a perforating pattern, wherein each sticking portion without a perforating pattern touches a sticking portion with a perforating pattern and these are connected to each other. It is also possible to provide the perforation patterns of adjacent leaves but not adjacent leaf surfaces of a single sheet with different perforation patterns.

Advantageously, the perforation patterns may have a plurality of slots and / or holes. The slots may, for example, be aligned parallel and / or perpendicular to the sheet or folded edge. In addition, the slots can be aligned at a certain angle between 0 ° and 90 ° to the folded edge. The holes may be formed, for example, as round, polygonal or star-shaped holes that are formed chaotically / randomly or in certain repeat sequences in the adhesive portion of the leaves. Advantageously, at least a portion of the slots and / or holes or all slots and / or holes in adhesive portions of sheets or sheets arranged adjacent to a stack may be arranged such that they do not or only partially overlap. In particular, a combination of holes and slots, which have no side edge of the slots and / or the holes parallel to the folded edge or edge of the sheet, are advantageous.

Preferably, a sheet which has two leaf surfaces and on both sides of the folding edges contains an adhesive portion with different perforation patterns may consist of slot lines aligned parallel to the folded edge. The slot line is constructed of slots of equal length, which are arranged at equal intervals from each other. Advantageously, the slots of the two adhesive portions are offset by half the length of the sum of the slot line and the distance between two adjacent slots to each other. Furthermore, the slot ends of the slots of the two adhesive portions may be interconnected by transverse slots which are oriented perpendicular or inclined to the folded edge and form continuous or interrupted Perforiermuster. A meandering, dovetailed or wavy perforation pattern has proved to be advantageous.

Advantageously, the perforation pattern is introduced by means of a laser beam into the respective adhesive sections. For example, the beam of a carbon dioxide laser (CO2 laser), a solid-state laser, in particular a neodymium, is a suitable laser beam YAG laser, or a fiber laser in question. With the aid of said laser beams, it is possible to reliably produce the perforation patterns to ensure that the adhesive passes through the slots in bonding.

For the production of the perforation pattern by means of a laser beam, it is advantageous if the at least one laser beam is movable in a first and / or in a second direction during the perforation corresponding to the perforation patterns to be punched relative to the sheet surface to be punched. Preferably, the first direction is aligned perpendicular to the second direction. The relative movement between the laser beam and the sheet or surfaces to be punched can take place simultaneously or alternately in the first and / or second direction. Advantageously, a source of the laser beam, in particular the laser used, is moved in the first and the second direction. Alternatively, the laser beam can also be deflected with the aid of movable mirror and / or beam splitters in such a way that the laser beam is moved in a first and / or second direction over the leaf surface (s) to be punched. Furthermore, it is also possible to move the leaf surface while the laser and / or the laser beam are stationary. A hybrid form is also conceivable, so that both the laser beam or the laser and the leaf surface or leaf surfaces to be punched move in a first and / or second direction.

In a further embodiment of the invention, the separation or punching is carried out by means of a fluid or material jet, ie by means of a fluid cutting or fluid stamping process. The fluid used in punching paper is preferably gas, for example air. In any case, the fluid must be subjected to such a high pressure that it can penetrate the paper and thus cut or stamp portions thereof. The paper or sheets are moved relative to "cutting heads" and thereby severed by the fluid jet.

For binding an inner book or a booklet, the sheets to be bound are preferably printed on one side or on both sides and optionally coated on one or both sides. Advantageously, the sheets are coated prior to punching and, at best, before folding the sheets to prevent the punched perforation patterns from being filled by the coating material so that no more adhesive can penetrate into the slots and / or holes of the perforating pattern.

The individual sheets may preferably be printed prior to stamping and at best before folding before or after coating. Possibly. it is also possible to print after the punching step.

Possibly. It may be necessary to cut the individual sheets. This can be done at any time during the proposed procedure. A variant which makes it necessary to cut the sheets is that the adhesive portions of individual sheets (folded and unfolded sheets) have the same perforation pattern, and the sheets are staggered with respect to each other so that the perforation patterns of adjacent sheets are staggered in the stack , After stacking, the overlapping area of the leaves can then be cut to size.

The contactless and wear-free punching allows on the one hand a very accurate production of the perforation and on the other hand ensures a long service life without costly maintenance. In addition, with the help of contact and wear-free punching, in particular laser punching, a punching of different types of paper, types of plastic and other materials possible without affecting the reliability and life of the punching device.

For positioning and stacking the individual sheets, the individual sheets may include a position marker and a bar code applied to the individual sheets prior to punching. Preferably, the application of barcode and / or position markers takes place during a printing process preceding the stamping process. Alternatively, the sheet or bundles of sheets may be suitably arranged by means of an edge sensor, so that the perforation pattern can be introduced.

Important in the context of the invention is that the stacking of the individual sheets is carried out after punching. Thus, individual sheets, or, in an alternative embodiment, a few sheets are punched. Subsequently (or even before punching), if necessary, the individual or a few sheets are folded along the perforation line, stacked with other individual or a few possibly folded sheets / sheets into a block or booklet and connected to one another.

The present invention further relates to a device according to claim 9.

The device for non-contact punching can, for example, be a unit for laser punching and / or laser cutting. Such a laser punching unit is particularly advantageous since paper sheets of different thicknesses as well as coated sheets as well as plastic sheets or sheets of other materials can be punched.

The unit for laser punching and / or laser cutting is preferably designed such that at least one laser beam, preferably exactly one or exactly two or more laser beams, can be generated. The number of laser beams required depends on the type of sheet, in particular on whether an unfolded sheet with only one sheet surface or a folded sheet with two sheet surfaces is punched. In addition, it is crucial whether in folded sheets, only the adhesive portion of a single leaf surface is perforated or whether adhesive portions of both leaf surfaces are perforated. Furthermore, the nature of the perforation pattern also plays an essential role in the number of laser beams.

In order to generate the corresponding laser beams, the unit for laser punching has at least one laser light source. For example, CO2 lasers, solid-state lasers such as, for example, neodymium YAG lasers or fiber lasers may be used as the laser light source. Preferably, the unit for laser punching can have exactly one or exactly two laser light sources. The device for binding an inner book or a booklet is preferably designed such that the support unit is movable relative to the laser punching unit or to the laser beam. The device can therefore be designed similar to a laser scanner. Alternatively, you can Also, the at least one laser light source to be movable relative to the support plane, and thus form a kind of laser plotter. In addition, it is possible that both the support unit and the laser light source are both movable, wherein the support unit and / or the laser light source are movable in a first and a second direction. The first and the second direction are preferably aligned perpendicular to each other.

Another way to guide the laser light beam over the surface to be punched of a sheet is that the laser light is deflected via at least one mirror so that the laser beam can be guided over the surface of the sheet to be punched. For this purpose, the at least one mirror is preferably designed to be movable and / or rotatable in the first and / or in the second direction.

In order to avoid that a second laser light source is necessary, for example, a beam splitter may be provided, which is preferably movable and / or rotatable in the first and / or the second direction.

For example, the apparatus for binding an inner book or booklet may include a docking station for connecting to other book making devices or at least one other book making device. Under book production device is, for example, a folding device, a stacking unit, an adhesive device, a press, transport devices such as. Conveyors, rollers, feeder and ejection and / or to understand a printing unit.

A laser light source can also be used to perform both "laser punching" and cutting operations to cut or cut paper in the device.

The device is preferably designed such that one of the methods described above can be carried out with the aid of the device.

In particular, the device has at least one nozzle for generating a fluid jet, by means of which a paper sheet can be punched and / or cut. The material is moved relative to "cutting heads" and thereby severed by the water jet. The fluid used in punching paper is preferably gas, for example air. In In any case, the fluid must be subjected to such a high pressure that it can penetrate the paper and thus cut or stamp portions thereof. As a parameter in addition to the pressure and the opening of the nozzle plays a major role. One can speak of this technique of fluid jet cutting or punching. Water jet cutting is carried out, for example, with a water pressure of over 3000 bar, over 4000 bar, over 5000 bar, over 6000 bar or over 7000 bar. The fluid jet is generated by a high-pressure pump. Gas can be compressed before exiting the nozzle. The volume flow can also be adjusted. An exemplary value for water is on the order of 101 / min for simultaneous operation of multiple cutterheads. Similarly, this works with a high-pressure gas jet, where the parameters can be similar to water or can be adapted to the fluid properties. The contact with the fluid is very short, so that - apart from cutting or punching - no damage to the material occurs.

In summary, the present invention ensures a secure connection of individual sheets to an inner book or booklet, the production of the inner book or booklet can be performed quickly and accurately and is applicable to sheets of various materials, without doing a costly maintenance of the equipment necessary and the Reduce the life of the equipment. The described methods are also advantageously dust-free and the material is not displaced laterally, as is the case with the use of knives.

"auszustanzen".For the purposes of this application, the term "punching" is understood to mean any removal of material for producing an opening in thin material (paper, cardboard, textiles). In contrast to conventional cutting by cutting tools, however, non-contact methods are used in the context of the invention to take out or "punch out" material.

FIG. 1 shows a device 100 according to the invention, which contains a laser light source 1 for emitting a laser beam 10 and a support unit 2 for laying and aligning a sheet 3. The laser light source 1 is arranged stationary and aligned so that the laser beam 10 impinges perpendicular to the sheet 3 and the support unit 2. The support unit 2, however, is along an X-axis (see arrow A) and along a Y-axis (see arrow B) relative to the laser light source 1 and the punching unit is movable. The support unit 2 may have means for fixing the sheet 3 in order to fix the sheet 3 in a suitable manner to the laser beam 10.

The arranged on the support unit 2 sheet 3 has a fold line 30, which divides the sheet 3 into two equal-sized leaf surfaces 31 and 32. For aligning the sheet 3 on the support unit 2, the sheet 3 has a positioning marker 37, which is arranged on the sheet surface 31 in the present example. Adjacent to the fold line 30, the sheet 3 on both sides of the fold line 30 on an adhesive portion 33 on the blade surface 31 and an adhesive portion 34 on the blade surface 32. After aligning the sheet 3, a perforation pattern 35 is punched by means of the laser beam 10 in the region of the adhesive portions 33 and 34. The perforation pattern 35 has slots which are aligned parallel to the folded edge 30, and connecting slots, which are aligned perpendicular to the fold line 30 and each end of slots of different adhesive portions 33, 34 interconnected. On the leaf surface 32, a bar code 36 is mounted in order to stack the sheets 3 in a suitable order after stamping.

FIG. 2 shows a similar device according to the invention as FIG. 1 , However, the device differs FIG. 2 in that a laser light source 1 is movable along an X and a Y axis (see arrows C and D), while the support unit 2 is arranged stationary. On the support unit 2 is again a sheet 3, which corresponds to the sheet 3 from FIG. 1 is trained. In the area of the adhesive portions 33 and 34, a perforation pattern is cut into a meandering structure with the aid of the laser beam 10. On the sheet 3, a bar code 36 and a positioning marker 37 are formed, wherein the bar code 36 is responsible for a stacking in the appropriate order of the leaves, while the positioning marker 37 allows an exact alignment of the sheet 3 on the support unit 2 relative to the laser light source. Instead of the positioning marker 37, an edge sensor (not shown) can be used to align the sheet 3 in a suitable manner on the support unit 2.

A further device according to the invention can also be seen as a combination of the embodiments FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 be formed so that both the laser light source 1 along the X-axis (arrow C) and / or the Y-axis (arrow D) and the support unit 2 in the direction of the X-axis (→ A) and / or in the direction of Y -Axis (→ B) are movable.

FIG. 3 shows a further embodiment of the device according to the invention. The device according to the invention contains two laser light sources 1A and 1B, which are the Emit light beams 10A and 10B. The laser light beams 10A and 10B are irradiated parallel to the support plane of the support unit 2 and the sheet surface 3 and deflected by means of mirrors 4A and 4B in the direction of the support plane of the support unit 2 and the sheet 3. The mirrors 4A and 4B can be moved along an X-axis (see arrow E). The support unit 2, however, is movable in the Y direction (arrow B). Thus, with the aid of the laser beams 10A and 10B, a perforation pattern 35 in the form of an interrupted meandering structure or also in the form of a meandering structure (not shown) can be punched into the sheet 3. Alternatively, the laser beams 10A and 10B may be irradiated along a Y direction and deflected onto the blade 3 by means of mirrors 4A and 4B movable along the Y axis. In this case, the support unit is preferably designed such that it can be moved along the X-axis. A further alternative is offered by mirrors 4A and 4B, which are rotatable in such a way that the laser beam is directed onto the sheet 3 in such a way that a suitable perforation pattern can be punched. It is also possible to direct only a single laser beam via a movable mirror on the sheet 3, wherein the mirror and / or the support unit 2 are movable in a suitable manner.

FIG. 4 shows a further variant of a device according to the invention with a single laser light source 1, which is arranged stationary. The laser light source 1 emits a laser beam 10, which is split by means of a beam splitter 40 into a beam 10A and a beam 10B. The respective beams 10A, 10B are deflected by means of mirrors 4A and 4B in the direction of the sheet 3. In order to be able to punch a suitable perforation pattern into the sheet 3, the mirrors 4A and 4B are preferably rotatable and / or movable in a suitable manner. Alternatively or additionally, the support unit 2 can be designed to be movable in the X and / or Y direction. With the help of the device in FIG. 4 For example, a meander-shaped perforation pattern 35 with interrupted or continuous transverse slots can be formed.

The FIGS. 5A to 5F show examples of sheets 3 having a fold line 30, wherein the fold line 30 divides the sheet 3 into two equal leaf areas 31 and 32. On both sides of the fold line 30, all perforation patterns in the adhesive portions 33 and 34 parallel to the fold line 30 aligned slots 50 which are arranged in two lines on both sides of the fold line and wherein the slots 50 of the two lines are offset from each other. FIG. 5A shows only a double slot line, wherein the slots 50 each offset are formed against each other. In FIG. 5B In addition to the slots 50 connecting slots 51 are formed, each connecting the ends of the slots 50 of different slot lines together, so that a meander pattern surrounding the fold line 30 is formed. The connecting slots 51 are aligned perpendicular to the fold line 30. FIG. 5C again shows a meander-like perforation pattern 35, which is arranged around the fold line 30 around. In contrast to the connection slots 51, the perforation pattern 35 in FIG FIG. 5C interrupted connecting slots 52, so that no perforation takes place in the region of the fold line 30.

FIG. 5D shows instead of the meandering perforation pattern 35 a dovetail pattern, wherein parallel to the folded edge 30 aligned slots 50 are provided, which are connected by means of connecting slots 53 which have an angle <90 ° to the folded edge 30. FIG. 9 gives an example of a sheet 3A which has only a single sheet surface and is not folded therewith. Along a blade edge 300, the sheet has an adhesive area 330 in which a perforation pattern 35 is provided. The perforation pattern 35 has a plurality of slots 600 and holes 700, wherein the slots 60 are arranged at an angle α to the side edge 300 and each spaced by two round holes 70 from each other. However, the perforation pattern may also have a different shape than that in the FIG. 9 Shown have, for example, be as described with respect to the pattern of the adhesive portions 33, 34 of a folded sheet of the preceding figures.

FIG. 10 shows a sheet 3, which is divided into two leaf surfaces along a fold line 30, wherein only an adhesive portion 33 is provided in the region of the leaf surface 31 with a perforation pattern 35. The perforation pattern has a series of slits, each two overlapping like a cross. Again, the perforation pattern can be arbitrarily designed and is not on the in FIG. 10 illustrated pattern limited.

The FIGS. 5A to 10 give an overview of various perforation pattern 35. However, the scope of protection still other pattern options included, which are clearly derivable for the skilled person from the claims.

The FIGS. 11 to 13 each show flowcharts for methods for binding an inner book. The FIG. 11 FIG. 12 is a flowchart illustrating a method of binding an inner book or booklet of the invention from a plurality of individual sheets, each sheet having only one sheet surface and thus not intended to fold the sheet. FIG. In a first step S1, the individual sheets 3 are printed and possibly coated. Subsequently, the sheets are individually conveyed by means of a conveyor to a punching device (S2), which in the form of a device, as in the FIGS. 1 to 4 is shown, may be formed. Subsequently, in step S3, each sheet is aligned singly or in a bundle on the support unit and punched after alignment (S4). After punching the sheets one by one or in bundles, the sheets are transported toward a stacking apparatus (S5) and stacked in a final order (S6). After stacking, the individual sheets 3 are glued (S7). After curing of the adhesive, the inner book is completed.

FIG. 12 again shows a flowchart for binding an interior book. In accordance with step S1 in FIG FIG. 11 the individual sheets 3 are printed (S 11). Subsequently, the sheets are transported toward the punching unit (S22) and aligned in the punching unit in a suitable manner (S3). Subsequently, the individual leaves, as in the FIGS. 5A to 8B and 10 shown, punched (S44). Then, the sheets are folded one by one (S45) and then stacked in a final order (S66). The process is completed by applying an adhesive to the spine of the book, which is formed by the folding seam S45 (S77).

FIG. 13 shows another flowchart for a similar method for binding an inner book with leaves that have two leaf surfaces and are folded in the inner book. In a step S111, the individual sheets are printed and possibly coated. Subsequently, the individual sheets are folded (S 112) and transported to a punching device (S222). The sheets are aligned in the punching device so that a perforation pattern can be punched along the folded edge of a folded sheet (S333). Subsequently, a punching process S444 takes place, wherein the perforation patterns in the two adhesive portions of the two leaf surfaces are the same. After punching S444, the individual folded sheets are conveyed to a stacker (555), and then (S666), the folding edges of the sheets form a book spine, the adhesive portions contact each other, and the perforation patterns of adjacent sheets differ. After stacking, the spine is given adhesive and cured.

In summary, the present invention overcomes the problems of the prior art and ensures the binding of inner books, which ensures a secure connection of the individual sheets or the individual folded sheets, this being ensured in particular by particularly precisely crafted perforation patterns that allow glue between the individual perforation patterns occurs. In order to be able to produce the precisely manufactured perforation patterns as quickly as possible and without maintenance, a non-contact punching method is used.
