Description

The present invention relates to a cutting method of a strip for producing blanks for skirts of bottle caps. It has applications in the field of bottling, including champagne drinks whose neck closure device is covered with a cap.

The caps covering the closure devices of bottles, especially Champagne, are made of relatively expensive materials in order to give a luxurious appearance to said bottles. Metallic materials are generally used for these caps, which furthermore comprise devices for assisting their opening / tearing, as well as various indications. In addition to their intrinsic cost, these caps must be made and arranged on the bottles in a relatively precise manner so that the devices and indications can perform their functions.

These caps are generally made by winding on itself around a conical mandrel of a shape called blank to form a skirt whose upper end, the one of smaller diameter of the two opposite ends of the skirt, is then closed either by folding of said end, or by fixing a cap, or head washer, reported.

These operations take place in an industrial context where the rates and the quality of the result must be high. Continuous processes are therefore generally carried out from a sheet of material in the form of a strip which is cut after any previous embodiments of the type of pattern printing, production / installation of accessories (lines of embrittlement, pull-wire ...).

Or the flank resulting from the cutting and intended to form the skirt of the cap has a contoured shape whose edges can not all adjust to the shape of the band and other blanks to be cut along the band. As a result, a significant portion of the web material is eliminated to obtain the blanks, which increases the manufacturing costs.

Indeed, the uncoiled blank has a truncated triangular general shape at its top and some of its four edges are generally curved. As a result, the cutting of a blank in a strip of material causes a loss of material of about 16% of the surface, or more.

Parmi ces procédés traditionnels, on peut mentionner ceux décrits dans DE 14 61 955 A1 et US 2 562 423 A et FR 2 825 687 A1 .The present invention aims to optimize the realization of blanks reducing material losses. To this end, the blanks are arranged in pairs and head-to-tail over the width of the strip of material that is cut to form the blanks. In addition, in one embodiment, this cutting of the strip is done firstly between the blanks of the pair so as to form two alignments or subbands of aligned blanks and in the same direction according to the length of the sub-band. band each of which will subsequently be used to produce the individual blanks. Thanks to the invention, the gains in material (area) are at least 10% compared to traditional processes without counting the increase in production rate that is obtained. Among these methods traditional, we can mention those described in DE 14 61 955 A1 and US 2,562,423 A and FR 2 825 687 A1 .

Thus, the invention relates to a method of cutting a strip sheet of simple material or complexed for producing blanks intended to form, after shaping, each a bottle cap skirt, characterized in that the blanks are cut from an arrangement of the blanks in pairs (s), the two blanks of the pair being upside-down according to the width of the web sheet and the blanks being aligned in line along the length of the web sheet according to claim 1.

In particular, this machine for producing blanks or subbands for aligning blanks from a web sheet of simple or complexed material, comprises means specifically intended to produce at least sub-bands of alignments of blanks by the method of the invention and wherein the blanks are cut from a pairwise arrangement of the blanks, the two blanks of the pair being upside-down depending on the width of the web sheet and the blanks being aligned in line along the length of the strip sheet.

The invention makes it possible to obtain blanks directly obtained by the method of the invention, either in the form of an alignment of blanks in a sub-band, or as individual blanks.

The present invention, without it being so limited, will now be exemplified with the following description of embodiments and implementation in relation to:
  • the Figure 1 which represents a front view of a strip of a material on which the shape of the blanks for making cap skirts has been represented, a single pair of blank being provided in width,
  • the Figure 2 which represents a front view visualizing the shape of the longitudinal cutting line of the band of the Figure 1 ,
  • the Figure 3 which schematizes the transverse cutting lines separating the blanks from each other,
  • the Figure 4 gives a detail of the longitudinal cutting line centered on the small side of the periodic triangular shape of said cutting line,
  • the Figure 5 which represents the strip of material with patterns and marks printed / made on its surface,
  • the Figure 6 which schematizes a machine for making caps from individual blanks, and
  • the Figure 7 which represents a front view of a strip of a material on which is represented the shape of the blanks intended to make skirts of caps, two pairs of blanks being provided in width.

In this description, the edges of the blanks have been called in order to facilitate the understanding of the invention. Thus, the upper edge of the blank corresponds to the edge which will be at the narrow top of the conical skirt once the blank wound. The lower edge of the blank corresponds to the edge which will be at the broad base of the conical skirt once the blank rolled. The upper and lower edges are curved, concave for the upper and convex for the inferior. This denomination is purely explanatory and can not limit the invention in any way whatsoever.

The first side edge and the second side edge of the blank are the two opposite edges which will come into contact with each other during the winding of the blank on itself to form the conical skirt. The side edges are straight edges. Still in order to facilitate understanding, the first and second lateral edges are called edges which always have the same position relative to the upper and lower edges and on the same face of the strip where the blanks are formed. Thus, in these explanations, there are two first side edges of two blanks of a head-to-tail pair across the width of the band which are common / in contact with each other. The two second side edges of this same pair are at opposite ends of the width of the strip and are parallel to each other and to the two lateral edges of the strip, whether or not they coincide with these borders.

The web that is cut to form blanks typically has printed patterns as well as possibly raised patterns and / or functional embodiments such as tear lines, tear-off aids, and the like. It is therefore necessary that the cutting is carried out under precise conditions both when the format of the blanks that the position of the cutting lines on the tape.

So, on the Figure 1 , the strip 1 of material which can be simple, for example sheet metal, or complex, for example plastic-metal-plastic laminate sheet, and which can be stored rolled up on itself, has been unwound over a certain length and There is shown the shapes of the blanks 5a-6a, 5b-6b, 5c-6c, which will be made there. The strip has two lateral edges 2, 3 straight and parallel to each other along the width of the strip 1. In this example a single pair 5a-6a or 5b-6b or 5c-6c blanks is provided over the width of the strip, in other modalities two or more pairs of blanks can be provided. In each pair, the blanks are upside down, so inverted. On the other hand, along the length of the strip, the blanks of each pair are in the same direction. It follows that on the Figure 1 we have a first alignment 5a-5b-5c blanks on a first lateral side of the strip along its length (along the edge 3) and a second alignment 6a-6b-6c, inverse of the previous, on the other side side of the strip along its length (along the border 2). Thus, when the two blanks of each pair are separated by a median cut along the strip, two aligned blank subbands with the same direction are obtained on said sub-band.

Each blank has a generally trapezoidal or truncated triangular shape having four substantially opposite edges in pairs with two opposite straight edges corresponding to a first side edge 9 of the skirt and a second side edge 10 of the skirt, and two opposite curved edges of which one, the upper edge 8 of the blank, is of smaller width than the other, the lower edge 7 of the blank, said blank being intended to be folded on itself with joining and partial overlapping of the two side edges to form the skirt.

In each pair of blanks, for example 5a-6a, the two blanks 5a, 6a are inverted, head-to-tail, and their first right side edges 9 are in contact with each other and, on the other hand, their second edges side are opposed and form, directly or not, the two edges 2, 3 of the strip. On the Figure 1 a narrow line 4 of material separates the edge of the second lateral edge of the blank, this narrow line 4 may comprise pins being removed for producing the skirt.

The Figure 2 allows to visualize the longitudinal cutting line 13 of the strip which splits in two each of the pairs of the band to form two sub-bands of blanks aligned in the same direction in each sub-band. The longitudinal cutting line has a periodic sawtooth / triangular shape. This triangular shape is asymmetrical with a long side 11 and a small side 12. The long side 11 of the cut passes along the first side edges 9 separating each pair of blanks. The small side 12 of the cut passes between two portions of the lower edges 7 of blanks of adjacent pairs along the band, for example between the lower edges of the blanks 6a and 5b.

The two lines 14 for cutting the narrow lines 4 of material have also been represented along the two edges 2, 3 of the strip 1. In other embodiments, these narrow lines of material which are cut do not exist. or only one is provided along only one of the two borders.

Note that the Figure 7 allows to visualize the application of the invention to the production of two pairs of blanks over the width of a strip, a longitudinal linear cutting line straight, 14 'along the strip being provided towards the middle of the strip to separate the pairs of blanks. In the course of the process, four aligned lined subbands were produced.

The Figure 4 allows to better see the relationship of the short side 12 of the longitudinal cutting line 13 relative to the edges of the blanks of the pair 5a-6a and the pair 5b-6b of blanks. The cutting line in its small side 12 passes away from the parts corresponding to lower edges 7 of the blanks 6a and 5b and it follows that if it is desired to obtain a blank whose limits correspond to the different edges, it will be necessary to cut the surplus material on both sides of the small side 12 and the part of the corresponding lower edge 7. In alternative embodiments, the small side 12 of the cutting line 13 is moved to coincide with one of the lower edges of the two corresponding blanks. In other embodiments, the excess material is left on the lower edge (s) in the skirt, alternatively it can be folded under the skirt.

Preferably and as shown Figure 4 , the connection areas between the short side 12 and the long side 11 of the longitudinal cutting line are rounded 26. In variants they are angular.

This longitudinal cutout 13 is obtained by using a continuous cutting apparatus with rotating rollers and against rollers between which the band is circulated. At least one of the cylinder and the counter-cylinder has at least one cutting cavity. Means for synchronizing the rotation of the roll and counter roll with printed patterns of the web or other devices made on the web are implemented. For this purpose, marks may be printed or made along the two borders 2, 3 of the strip 1 as shown Figure 5 .

The Figure 3 schematizes the transverse cutting lines 15 for separating the blanks from each other.

On the Figure 6 the machine for manufacturing the caps receives individual blanks resulting from the longitudinal and transverse cuts of the web of material in one or more other upstream machines. Preferably, a subband of aligned blanks is received and placed in a downstream machine (represented symbolically at 15) for transverse cutting and possible formatting of the individual blanks that arrive at 16. The machine for manufacturing the caps comprises a series of forming cones 22 on which the blanks are wound at 17 and the top of the skirt 23 thus obtained is formed by forming supports 18. Then, at 19, a head washer removal tool is implemented and forming said head at 20 by a forming support to obtain the cap 24 which is ejected from the machine for making the caps.

Naturally, the present invention is not limited to the particular embodiments described above, but extends to all variants and equivalents according to the scope of the claims. Thus, it is clear that the invention can be declined according to many other possibilities without departing from the scope defined by the claims. For example, the small side of the periodic triangle of the longitudinal asymmetric triangular periodic cutting line is split in order to directly format the portions of the lower edges of the corresponding blanks. In variants, along the long side of the triangular periodic cutting line Asymmetric longitudinal is split to separate the blanks of each pair by a thin line of material.
