Description

The technical field of the invention is that of the ballistic protection grids for military vehicles.

To protect military vehicles from rocket attacks, it is known to place protective grids on the periphery of the vehicle and away from the outer walls of the vehicle.

These grids have the function of degrading the warhead of a projectile fired against the vehicle. The fact that the grid is placed at a distance from the wall makes it possible to ensure proper operation of the protection device. However, to access or disembark the vehicle, the conventional use of doors or hatches type hatches is disrupted by the presence of the protective grids placed in front of these openings.

A solution described in the patent EP1944566 consists in organizing the grids in separate panels, each of the panels being connected to the adjacent panel by a hinge for folding the protective device to access the door. The handling of such a device is long and complex when it is necessary to close or open the opening and the gate from the inside of the vehicle for example.

This device imposes a closure in two stages with the help of a third person located outside the vehicle.

The invention proposes to solve this problem of the complexity of the opening by one and the same person while ensuring the maintenance of optimal ballistic protection at the level of the opening.

The subject of the invention is a remote ballistic protection device protecting a wall comprising an opening, a device comprising at least a first gate offset relative to the wall and integral with the latter, the first gate comprising a first series of bars parallel to one another, a first end of the first series of bars being in the vicinity of a door hinge, the first series of bars being substantially perpendicular to the axis of pivoting of the hinge, a ballistic protection device characterized in that it comprises a second gate offset from the opening and secured thereto, the second gate having a second series of bars substantially parallel to the first series of bars, the second gate being positioned relative to the first gate so that the bars of the second grid are spatially shifted in the plane of the second grid p relative to the bars of the first grid, the bars of the second grid can thus pass between the bars of the first grid during pivoting of the opening.

According to a feature of the invention, the first and the second grid are placed in two parallel planes when the opening is closed.

Advantageously, the outer face of the first gate is substantially in the same plane as the inner face of the second gate.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the first gate has at least one rigid edge disposed in the vicinity of the axis of the hinge of the opening, rigid edge secured to the first ends of the first series of bars, each of the first ends. of bars of the second grid further comprising a shim integral with at least one amount, the shims having a thickness such that, when the second gate is closed, the outer face of the first gate is in the same plane as the inner face of the second gate and the amount is opposite the inner face of the first gate.

Advantageously, the amount and the rigid edge are substantially parallel and placed in the vicinity of the hinge of the opening.

Advantageously, the second grid is positioned relative to the first grid so that its bars are adjacent to the bars of the first grid.

The invention will be better understood on reading the following description, description given with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
  • The figure 1 is a partial perspective view of a military vehicle wall carrying a closed leaf, the assembly being protected by a device according to the invention.
  • The figure 2 represents a partial perspective view of this military vehicle wall with the partially open door, the assembly being protected by a device according to the invention.
  • The figure 3 represents a partial view in perspective of the grids with the partially open door.
  • The figure 4 represents an external partial view specifying the relative location of the grids in the closed position.

According to figure 1 , and according to one embodiment, an outer wall 100 of an armored military vehicle (vehicle not shown) comprises a door constituting an opening 200 for disembarking or boarding the vehicle. The opening 200 is articulated with respect to the wall 100 by means of two hinges 300 with a substantially vertical axis 400. The wall 100 and the opening 200 are protected from rocket attacks with hollow charge by a protection device 101 according to the invention.

This device comprises a first fixed protective grid 1 placed integrally at a distance from the wall 100 (distance of about 300 mm) by means of fixing arms 80. The device 101 also comprises a second gate 2 placed jointly at a distance from the opening 200 by means of other fixing arms 80. The second grid 2 covers at least the entire surface of the opening 200. Each of the two grids 1 and 2 comprises series of bars 1a and 2a all parallel to each other , the bars of the first grid 1 being moreover parallel to the bars of the second grid 2. The inter-bar gap I is also identical for the two grids 1 and 2.

All the bars 1a and 2a are substantially perpendicular to the axis 400. It will be noted that the second series of bars 2a is spatially offset in the plane of the second grid 2 relative to the first series so that the bars 1a of the first series and those 2a of the second series are not collinear with each other. The bars 2a of the second grid 2 can thus pass between the bars 1a of the first grid 1 during the pivoting of the opening 200. If we consider the figure 4 it will be noted that, in projection of a plane of a grid in the plane of the other, the bars of each of the grids are placed alternately between each other at their neighboring ends.

According to this embodiment, the two grids 1 and 2 have a zone Z of common coverage of the wall 100. Note that according to this embodiment, when the opening 200 is closed, the second gate 2 is not in the plane of the first gate 1.

The figure 2 shows the same protection device 101 with the opening 200 partially open. Note that the bars of each of the grids are placed alternately between each other at their ends near the axis 400 of hinge 300. The second gate 2 is also movable with the opening 200, the two grids n do not interfere with each other during the opening movement of the opening 200. The bars 2a of the second gate 2 are indeed free to move between the bars 1a of the first gate 1.

The relative positioning of the bars 1a and 2a of the grids 1 and 2 is more particularly visible on the figures 3 and 4 . The second grid 2 comprises at the ends of each of its bars 2a a wedge 4. Each of the wedges 4 secures the end 2b of each bar 2a with a post 5. The post 5 is placed on the side of the inner face 11 of the first grid 1 while the second grid 2 is placed on the side of the outer face 12 of the first grid 1 when the opening is closed (see figure 4 in particular).

Each shim 4 has a length X greater than the width L of the bars 1a of the first grid 1. The first grid 1 comprises in the vicinity of the axis 400 an edge 13, which is integral with the end of the bars 1a of the first grid 1 and perpendicular to these.

The edge 13 and the upright 5 are parallel to each other and make it possible to stiffen the grids 1 and 2. Their presence requires that the grids 1 and 2 be in planes parallel when the opening 200 is closed. This presence of the edge 13 and the upright 5 also requires that there is an overlap area Z between the grids 1 and 2. Indeed the closing of the opening 200 causes a displacement of the amount 5 towards the edge 13. The width of the covering zone Z is chosen so that the opening can be closed completely without mechanical interference between the upright 5 and the edge 13 (see figure 4 ).

On notera que pour permettre le pivotement de la seconde grille 2 par rapport à la première grille 1 les barreaux 1a et 2a de chaque grille ne sont pas alignés (comme cela a été décrit précédemment dans le texte).Note that to allow the pivoting of the second grid 2 relative to the first grid 1 the bars 1a and 2a of each grid are not aligned (as has been described previously in the text).

The second grid 2 is positioned relative to the first grid 1 so that its bars 2a are adjacent bars 1a of the first grid 1. This prevents the shims 4 placed at the ends of the second bars 2a of the second grid 2 interfere with the first bars 1a of the first grid 1.

As a variant, it is possible to define grids 1 and 2 that do not have an edge 13 or an upright 5. Such an arrangement eliminates any risk of mechanical interference between the grids 1 and 2 during opening and closing of the opening 200.
