Description

Gebiet der ErfindungField of the invention

The invention relates to a household appliance and a method for operating a household appliance.

Hintergrundbackground

Domestic appliances with liquid-based cleaning mechanisms often have a so-called water switch. For example, a washing machine has a water switch, which directs a flow of water to the various detergent chambers. In dishwashers may be provided a water diverter to direct a flow of water to the various spray arms in the tub.

Such water switches can be understood as an electrically controllable actuator and are usually stored in their position variable to lock or unlock the respective outflows. For example, a water diverter from its first position, in which it directs water from an inflow only into a first outflow, may be transferred by an electrical signal from a controller to a second position in which the diverter allows a flow of water only into a second outflow, but not more in the first outflow. The positions can also be approached in the transition area.

To accurately adjust the position of the water switch, a sensor is usually provided which detects a reference position of the water switch. Since a drive of the water switch is usually done via a synchronous motor, based on the reference position and the engine revolutions and possibly a gear ratio starting from the reference position each position be approached controlled. Conventionally, for example, a stationary mechanical position switch interacts with the water switch so that the reference position is determined when the position switch contacts the water switch.

However, such a position switch is an additional component that has to be wired and monitored. In this respect, there is a desire for a low-cost reference position detection for a water switch in a household appliance.

Darstellung der ErfindungPresentation of the invention

This object is achieved by a household appliance with the features of claim 1. The household appliance has a water pipe system. In this case, an inflow is typically led to a branch, from which branch several, ie at least two outflows depart. Preferably, inflow and outflows are formed as tubes. Typically, the inflow is acted upon at least temporarily in the operation of the household appliance with water, which, possibly already added with a detergent, depending on the type of device used to clean, for example, textiles or crockery. Between inflow and outflows, a water switch is now arranged, preferably at or near the junction. The water diverter serves to direct the water supplied via the inflow into a selection of outflows. The respective selection of outflows preferably depends on the program operation. Thus, such a selection of outflows can also contain no outflow, if in a certain section of the program operation no outflow of water should lead. In this case, the water diverter preferably assumes a position in which all outlets are closed by the water diverter, and preferably by a closure part of the water diverter become. Another choice may include a single one of the outlets, so that the water supplied is routed through this one drain, whereas other outlets through the water diverter are closed at the same time. However, such a selection may also include multiple or all outflows, so that the supplied water is split among these multiple or all outflows.

The household appliance also has a turbidity sensor. This turbidity sensor is designed to measure turbidity of water in the water pipe system. Water in the water pipe system may in particular be rinse water, which, for example, a water cycle, the constituent part including the aforementioned water pipe system and the tub with the material to be cleaned, passes through several times and is thus brought together several times for cleaning with the material to be cleaned. Such an operation lowers the water consumption of the household appliance. However, the rinsing water may no longer have sufficient cleaning power due to the repeated absorption of dirt at a certain point in time. To detect such a contaminated state of the rinse water, the above turbidity sensor may be used, which detects turbidity in this water, and may preferably detect a degree of turbidity.

Preferably, the turbidity sensor may be an optical sensor having an optical transmitter and an optical receiver. In particular, the turbidity sensor can also be designed as a forked or reflex light barrier. The dirt particles present in the water absorb or reflect the light of the transmitter, so that the received light output in the above embodiment can be regarded as a measure of the turbidity of the water. Depending on such a detected turbidity of the water, an associated controller may modify the operation of the household appliance, and for example, remove and divert the water consumed from the water cycle, or else Add fresh water, or increase the detergent concentration in the water by adding detergent or affect the transit times or temperature guides. These are but a few representative examples that illustrate how, due to a detected level of turbidity, the operation of the household appliance can be affected.

The water switch and the turbidity sensor are now arranged to one another such that at least one reference position of the water switch is detectable by the turbidity sensor. The turbidity sensor is thus not only used to detect the turbidity of passing water, but also serves to detect at least one specific position of the water switch, the so-called reference position, which, as described above, can serve as a starting point, the water gate in combination with To convert a defined number of revolutions of the drive from the reference position or another position in a desired position, for example, to release a certain outflow.

By the invention can be dispensed with other means for detecting the reference position of the water switch. The turbidity sensor thus assumes two functions, since it can detect at least a single, but possibly also a plurality of positions of the movably mounted part (s) of the water separator due to its arrangement relative to the water switch and in particular to its closure part.

Preferably, the water switch, and in particular its closure part has a projection which cooperates with the turbidity sensor. In this case, in the case of an optical design of the turbidity sensor, an optical path between an optical transmitter and an optical receiver is only influenced by the projection when the water separator is in the reference position. Here, for example, the projection may serve as a breaker for the optical path between transmitter and receiver. Since the receiver preferably a shading detects the emitted light, a shading caused by the projection is high compared to a caused by a water turbidity shading, so that is preferably recognized on the caused by the projection shading when the received light power falls below a predetermined threshold.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the closure part of the water switch is rotatably mounted. It may have one or more openings allowing the passage of water from the inflow into one or more outlets, provided that the water diverter is positioned so that the respective opening coincides with an inlet of the associated outflow. Preferably, the at least one opening is not arranged symmetrically with respect to an axis of rotation of the closure part, so that in different positions of the closure part a flow into the respective outflow (s) can be enabled or disabled.

The above-mentioned projection as a preferred means for cooperation with the turbidity sensor may be arranged at a rotatably mounted closure member with a preferably circular circumference at this circumference. Here, the closure part may take the form of a plate whose circumference is ultimately formed only approximately circular due to the projection. Alternatively, a hole pattern in the water switch can take over this function. Also conceivable are coded hole patterns in which a direction of rotation can be detected. This coding can be realized, for example, by a long and a short shading of the light barrier next to each other.

If the household appliance is designed, for example, as a dishwasher, the inflow is preferably connected to a pump which pumps water from a sump of the tub to different spray arms. Here, the water pipe system with the water switch the Take over distribution of water on the spray arms, wherein preferably a first spray arm is connected to a first outlet of the water pipe system, and a second spray arm with a second drain of the water pipe system. In an alternative, the household appliance may also be designed as a washing machine.

Furthermore, the object is achieved by a method having the features of claim 13. In this case, an operation of the household appliance is controlled as a function of a measured turbidity of water in a water pipe system of the household appliance. A reference position of a water diverter provided for directing water in the water supply system between an inflow and a plurality of outlets is recognized by the measured turbidity. Preferably, the water switch is converted based on the determined reference position in a defined position.

The above process steps can be carried out in the order given, or else in any order, if technically expedient.

Preferred developments, which are disclosed in relation to the domestic appliance, should also be considered to be disclosed as belonging to the method, and vice versa.

Weg(e) zur Ausführung der ErfindungWay (s) for carrying out the invention

FIG. 1 shows a cut-open water pipe system 1 with a water diverter 2 in plan view, according to an embodiment of the invention. In this case, the water pipe system 1 is cut open in the region of a branch 15. An invisible inflow feeds branch 15 from below into the drawing plane. Above the junction 15, so outstanding from the drawing level would join various outflows, in the present example three drainpipes, which are separated from the inflow through the water separator 2.

Of the water switch 2, in particular a plate-shaped closure part 21 can be seen, which separates the inflow from the drains. The closure member 21 is rotatably supported about a shaft 26. The closure member 21 has three openings / openings 23, 24 and 25, which, if they are brought into agreement with the drains by rotation of the closure member 21, establish a continuous connection of the respective outflow with the inflow, so that supplied via the inflow water in the relevant outflow is directed. However, it is not necessarily so that the closure member 21 in such a position must allow access to all three drains simultaneously through openings 23-25. There may therefore be positions of the closure part 21 in which only one of the outflows is connected to the inflow by means of the branch 15 in each case. In practice, the geometry of the closure part 21 depends on distribution patterns for the supplied water. For example, if an operating program of the household appliance requires the simultaneous admission of several outlets, then the closure part 21 is geometrically designed such that that in a position of the closure part 21, two or more of its openings correspond to the respective drains. When turning the closure part 21 so rotate its openings 23-25 and can be brought into correspondence with one or more drains.

The closure part 21 of the water switch 2 has in this embodiment, a projection 22 which protrudes from the otherwise circular circumference of the closure part 21. In the present position of the closure member 21, the projection 22 at least partially overlies an optical receiver 32 mounted in the branch 15. An unillustrated, arranged above the plane of the optical transmitter emits a light signal to the optical receiver 32 from. This light signal, which defines an optical path between the transmitter and the receiver 32, is at least partially interrupted by the projection 22 in the illustrated position of the closure part 21. This interruption manifests itself in the signal emitted by the optical receiver 32 as a collapse in the received light power. In this respect, by evaluating this signal of the so-called turbidity sensor, a reference position of the closure part 21 and thus of the water switch 2 can be detected. In addition to detecting the reference position of the closure part 21, the sensor serves as a turbidity sensor for detecting turbidity of the water passed between the transmitter and the receiver 32 due to which observed turbidity of operation of the household appliance, for example its program flow, can be influenced.

FIG. 2 shows a schematic water pipe system 1 in a household appliance in a longitudinal section, according to an embodiment of the invention. Here, the inflow 11 is now visible in the form of a tube, is supplied via the water of the branch 15 and thus the water switch 2. The inflow 11 opens into the branch 15, in which branch 15 the closure part 21 is arranged. The closure part 21 closes or opens paths, in this example three outflows 12, 13 and 14. In this case, only the outflow 12 lies in the selected sectional plane. The drains 13 and 14 are arranged offset to the cutting plane, which is expressed by the hatching. It can be seen that the outflows 12-14 can not only have different radii, but can also be arranged radially offset relative to the shaft for the water distributor 2.

In the present example, the closure member 21 just at a position in which an opening 23 is brought into conformity with the drain 12, so that the water supplied via the inflow 11 is fed into the drain 12. It is assumed that the inlets to the other two drains 13 and 14 are closed in this position of the closure part 21 by the same.

Furthermore, in FIG. 2 a drive 27 for the shaft 26 and thus the closure part 21 is shown. Preferably, the drive 27 is an actuator with a stepper motor and a gearbox for endless rotation of the closure part 21. The drive 27 is controlled by a controller 4. So if another outflow as drain 12 record the water supplied, so causes the Control 4 a signal to the drive 27, the closure member 21 a defined time and thus to rotate by a certain angle to then release the other drain in the new position through an associated opening, and at the same time the drain 12 through the closure part 21st to close again.

Diese Referenzposition nutzt nun die Steuerung 4 wiederum zum präzisen Positionieren des Verschlussteils 21.The controller 4 receives a signal from the turbidity sensor 3, which is now shown in section and has an optical receiver 32 and an optical transmitter 31. The arrow 33 indicates an optical path between transmitter 31 around receiver 32. If the projection 22 of the closure part 21 interrupts the optical path 33, Thus, a significant loss in the signal strength of the receiver is detected by the controller 4, so that in this case can be closed to the reference position of the closure part 21, in which just the projection 22 passes the turbidity sensor 3. This reference position now uses the controller 4 again for precise positioning of the closure part 21.

The turbidity sensor 3 also supplies its signal to the controller 4 for another purpose. If the water conducted past the turbidity sensor 3 is contaminated and contains, for example, many particles, these particles cause shading and thus a signal of reduced intensity at the receiver 32 Turbidity of the past water may lead to a change in the operation of the household appliance. Thus, for example, fresh water can be mixed into the water cycle, the program times and the temperature control are influenced, etc. The interaction of the closure part 21 with the turbidity sensor 3 is preferably such that the signal caused by the interaction with the water separator is quantitatively significantly different from the signal caused by a clouding of water.

While preferred embodiments of the invention are described in the present application, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited thereto and may be embodied otherwise within the scope of the following claims. In particular, the arrangement of the inflows and outflows of the water diverter can be done at any angle.
