Description

Description
A BUILT-IN DISHWASHER COMPRISING A DECORATIVE PANEL ON ITS
DOOR
[0001] The present invention relates to a built-in dishwasher comprising a door which is opened by tilting forward and a decorative panel which is assembled onto the door.
[0002] In built-in dishwashers, a decorative panel is mounted on the outer surface of the door and the door, with the panel mounted thereon, is opened by rotating around the horizontal axis. Since the built-in dishwasher is embedded in the furniture, the panel and the door are required to be inserted into the furniture from almost the same upper level when the door is closed. The panel projects from the bottom side of the door since the height of the panel is kept longer than the door due to visual concerns. As the door opens by rotating, the panel gets stuck to the bottom side of the body and prevents the door from opening. Therefore, in the technique, slide mechanisms are explained, which provide the panel to be mounted onto the door such that it will slide on the door while the door is opened.
[0003] In the state of the art German Patent Document No DE3026637, a
dishwasher is described that has a cladding which is fastened to two link arms, mounted onto the door, such that it will stand separately from the door and which falls down by its own weight until it bears against the lower portion of the body while the door is opened..
[0004] A panel, which is slidably mounted to the door explained in the state of the art European Patent Document No EP1529482, slides beginning from the surface wherein it contacts the lower portion of the body towards the outside of the door by pushing a spring located between the door and the panel as it compresses the surface, while the door is opened.
[0005] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a built-in dishwasher wherein the panel, mounted on the door, does not prevent the opening of the door while the door is opened.
[0006] The built-in dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is explicated in the first claim and the other elements in the related claims. [0007] The built-in dishwasher comprises a body disposed into the furniture, a door opened by tilting forwards and a decorative panel arranged on the door to be slidably movable thereon. The height of the panel is longer than the door due to visual concerns. While the door is opened by rotating on its lower side, the panel is slid on the door so that the lower side of the panel is provided not to contact the body or the furniture. Therefore a gear is fixed to the lower side of the body, at least two auxiliary gears, which rotate by being driven with the gear, are disposed on the lower side of the door and the toothed rack is secured on the surface of the panel facing the door. While the door is opened by rotating, the gear that stands immobile without rotating on the body rotates the auxiliary gears. The panel slides on the door as the auxiliary gears push the toothed rack. Consequently, while the door is opened, the panel is provided to slide on the door automatically and the lower side of the panel is prevented from impacting the body.
[0008] In an embodiment of the present invention, two spaced apart toothed
racks are provided on the panel surface facing the door. The gears and toothed racks disposed near the side walls provide the panel to be pushed with equal forces from two points on its lower portion.
[0009] In an embodiment of the present invention, a pin is located on the panel and a channel is located on the door wherein the pin is inserted so that the panel can move smoothly back and forth on the door.
[0010] In another embodiment of the present invention, the door comprises at least one housing on its lower side wherein the auxiliary gears are disposed. In this embodiment, the auxiliary gears are arranged side by side inside the housing such that one of them will contact the gear and the other one the toothed rack, and they will contact one another at the same time.
[001 1] By means of the present invention, the gear which is immobile on the body pushes the toothed rack, secured on the panel which can slide on the door, in the opposite direction of the opening direction of the door by means of the auxiliary gears while the door is opened. Consequently, while the door is opened, the panel is provided not to contact the body or the furniture by moving away from the rotational axis of the door.
[0012] The built-in dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
[0013] Figure 1 - is the view of a built-in dishwasher when the door is closed in an embodiment of the present invention.
[0014] Figure 2 - is the schematic view of a built-in dishwasher when the door is partially open in an embodiment of the present invention
[0015] Figure 3 - is the view of detail A in Figure 2.
[0016] Figure 4 - is the view of detail B in Figure 3.
[0017] The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
1. Built-in dishwasher
2. Body
3. Door
4. Panel
5. Gear
6. Toothed rack
7. Channel
8. Pin
9. Housing
10. ,1 10. Auxiliary gear
[0018] The built-in dishwasher (1 ) comprises a body (2) which is disposed into the furniture, a door (3) which allows access into the body (2) and moves by rotating around a horizontal axis, a hinge which connects the door (3) to the body (2), and a decorative panel (4) which is slidably mounted onto the door (3) (Figure 1 and Figure 2).
[0019] The built-in dishwasher (1 ) comprises at least one gear (5) secured to be immobile on the lower side of the body (2) facing the door (3), at least one toothed rack (6) secured on the panel (4) surface facing the door (3) and at least two auxiliary gears (10, 1 10) disposed on the door (3), transmitting the motion between the gear (5) and the toothed rack (6), rotating with the pushing of the gear (5) while the door (3) is opened thereby sliding the panel (4) on the door (3) (Figures 3, 4, 5 and 6).
[0020] The gear (5) is secured to the body (2) to be coaxial with the rotational axis (E) of the door (3). Since the gear (5) does not rotate, the auxiliary gear (10) moving together with the door (3) starts to rotate on the gear (5) while the door (3) is opened. The other auxiliary gear (1 10) starts to rotate in the opposite direction of the auxiliary gear (10) driven by the gear (5) and opposite to the opening direction of the door (3). The auxiliary gear (1 10) rotating opposite to the opening direction of the door (3) pushes the toothed rack (6) upwards. Consequently, the auxiliary gears (10, 1 10) on the door (3) rotate by the pushing of the gear (5) as the door (3) opens and transmit this rotational motion to the panel (4) through the toothed rack (6). While the door (3) opens by rotating on the rotational axis (E) without contacting the body (2) due to being mounted to the body (2) with the hinge, the panel (4) slides upwards on the door (3) together with the toothed rack (6) When the door (3) is closed, the lower side of the panel (4) projects outward from the lower side of the door (3) and when the door (3) is opened, the lower sides are almost at the same level. Accordingly, the lower side of the panel (4) is prevented from contacting the body (2). Consequently, the panel (4), while covering the whole front surface of the body (2) when the door (3) is closed, allows the door (3) to be completely opened by moving away from the lower portion of the body (2) while the door (3) is opened.
[0021] In an embodiment of the present invention, the built-in dishwasher (1 ) comprises two toothed racks (6) disposed on the panel (4) such that one is near the right side of the panel (4) and the other near the left side of the panel (4), and gears (5) and auxiliary gears (10, 1 10) disposed on the body (2) and the door (3) to be opposite to the toothed rack (6) (Figure 1 and Figure 2). In this embodiment, the gears (5) are preferably integrated with the hinges whereto the door (3) is mounted on the body (2) from its side walls. While the door (3) is opened, the toothed racks (6), moving on the auxiliary gears (10, 1 10) contacting the gears (5), pushes the panel (4) from the sides by two equal forces in a balanced manner.
[0022] In an embodiment of the present invention, the built-in dishwasher (1 ) comprises at least one channel (7) disposed in the vertical direction on the door (3) and at least one pin (8) disposed on the panel (4), allowing the panel (4) to move slidingly on the door (3) by being inserted into the channel (7) (Figure 3 and Figure 4). Consequently, the panel (4) is mounted on the door (3) such that it will be able to move in the direction vertical to the rotational axis but not be separated from the door (3). While the pin (8) is at the lower portion of the channel (7) when the door (3) is closed, the pin (8) moves forward inside the channel (7) going to the upper portion as the panel (4) is pushed together with the toothed rack (6).
Consequently, the panel (4) is provided to slide on the door (3) in a radial direction.
[0023] In an embodiment of the present invention, the built-in dishwasher (1 ) comprises at least one housing (9) at its lower side wherein the auxiliary gears (10, 1 10) are disposed (Figure 5 and Figure 6). The housing (9) is preferably box shaped, with its surface facing the toothed rack (6) located on the panel (4) and its surface facing the gear (5) opposite to this surface are open. The auxiliary gears (10, 1 10) are disposed into the housing (9) such that one auxiliary gear (10) will be driven by the gear (5) and the other auxiliary gear (1 10) by the toothed rack (6).
[0024] By means of the gear (5), the toothed rack (6) and the auxiliary gears (10 and 1 10) of the present invention, the panel (4) slides on the door (3) and thus, its lower side is provided to be almost at the same level with the lower side of the door (3) while the door (3) is opened. Accordingly, the lower side of the panel (4) is prevented from impacting the body (2).
[0025] It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the
embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These should be considered within the scope of the protection postulated by the claims of the present invention.
