Description
- The present invention relates to a dishwasher rack used in dishwashers and which provides the user with versatile usage possibilities for loading the items to be washed.
- The racks used in dishwashers are formed by fastening their wires, preferably coated with plastic material, to each other in various shapes. In dishwasher racks, support wires are provided that extend upwards vertically or inclining from the base plane of the rack for holding the kitchen utensils like plates, bowls, pans upright or inclined at specific angles so that they can be washed and dried in suitable position. The support wires provide the area on the rack to be used efficiently, however, the user faces difficulties in placing the containers of different depths into the dishwasher rack since the distances between the support wires are fixed. In order to solve this problem, some of the support wires are folded over the base for opening up space on the rack. The support wires folded over the base of the rack occupies too much space, moreover it becomes difficult to hold the wider containers in the upright position.
- In the state of the art United States patent application no
US20080083678 , a dish insert is explained which is used in dishwashers and which includes a plurality of first tines disposed one behind the other on a first holding strut. The tines included in the dish insert are arranged in groups inserted into one another and when containers with more depth are desired to be placed in the rack, some of the tines inserted into one another are folded on the base of the rack and the distances between the unfolded tines are increased. -

- In the first position, the plate holders are arranged longitudinally on the base wire of the dishwasher rack and plates with less depth are placed in between the adjacent support wires secured to the plate holders as in the prior embodiments.
- The plate holders, together with the support wires thereon, are brought to the second position by being rotated 90 degrees around their axes vertical to the plane of the base, on the base plane formed by the base wires and become parallel to each other, and the plates with more depth are placed between two plate holders having a distance therebetween that is greater than the distance between the two support wires.
- The dishwasher rack, furthermore, comprises bearing members mounted to the base wire and whereon the plate holder is mounted such as to rotate around the vertical axis. Preferably a separate bearing member is used for each plate holder.
- Two pins are provided on the plate holder providing thereof to be rotatably secured to the bearing member and two channels shaped as quarter circle arcs are provided on the bearing member whereto the pins are mounted. When the plate holder is seated on the bearing member, the pins are inserted into the channels and the pins move in the channels such that the plate holder rotates 90 degrees.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, each plate holder includes three support wires arranged side by side thereon. In this embodiment, the distance between two parallel plate holders is three times the distance between adjacent support wires in the second position.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, each of the plate holders arranged on the base wire are changed from the first position to the second position by being rotated separately by the user.
- In another embodiment of the present invention, the plate holders are rotated by means of a motion transmitter which provides the connection therebetween. In this embodiment, the plate holders can be rotated as a group by receiving motion from for example a single plate holder or a guide lever rotated by the user.
- In the dishwasher rack of the present invention, the position of the plate holders can be changed easily and thus, various combinations can be formed for placing the plates of different depths.
