Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif pour manipuler des brames (2a, 2b), notamment produites par coulée continue, dont la surface peut être polie avant le laminage dans un laminoir, la brame est avancée et reculée sur une table de meulage (12a, 12b) à renversement de marche située sous un ensemble de meulage d'une unité machine à meuler (I, II), ensemble disposé dans une cabine de meulage. La table de meulage sort linéairement de la cabine de meulage une fois la surface meulée puis la brame est soulevée de la table de meulage et cédée à un dispositif de retournement. Une fois retournée, la brame est prélevée du dispositif de retournement et posée sur la table de meulage avec une autre surface non usinée tournée vers le haut, la table de meulage étant réintroduite dans la cabine de meulage pour l'usinage de cette surface. Le but de l'invention est de proposer un procédé simplifié et un dispositif de manipulation destiné au meulage de brames produites en coulée continue, tout en assurant une forte réduction des coûts de construction. Pour ce faire, la brame est prise par un manipulateur de brames (9) qui présente un moyen rotatif de serrage et de levage de brames (14; 14a, 14b) et qui peut, avec la brame fixée, être transporté transversalement tout comme retourné.
