Description
- The invention relates to the technical sector concerning blocking a tool to a relative support therefor in machines for cutting articles. A blade holder according to the preamble of
claim 1 is known fromUS 2,304,771 . - In particular the invention relates to machines in which the article to be cut is stretched on a work plane and blocked thereto in order to be cut into predefined shapes by a blade associated to a work-head, vertically activated and with alternating motion.
- The work-head is provided with a support to which the blade is blocked. In this solution the axial position of the blade and the blocking thereof depends on how the fastening of the blade to the holder is done.
- A central through-hole is provided in the blade for the removable blocking thereof, and also comprised is an organ for fastening the blade to the holder. During the article-cutting operations an axial variation of the blade can occur, caused for example by the loosening of the fastening organ, which because of the tolerances between the fastening organ and the axial hole of the blade causes the axial shift, with all the ensuing drawbacks and problems that derive there-from.
- An advantage of the present invention is that it provides a blade-blade holder group which makes perfect centring of the blade possible with respect to the support and which maintains the positioning and axial orientation of the blade during the article-cutting operations.
- A further advantage of the invention is to provide a group for removably blocking a blade to the support, which is simple in conception and enables simple and rapid positioning of the blade.
- These advantages are obtained in accordance with what is set out in the appended claims.
- The characteristics of the invention are set out herein below, with particular reference to the accompanying tables of the drawings, in which:
-
figure 1 illustrates a perspective view of a support for a blade in machines for cutting articles; -
figure 2 is a front view of a blade for cutting articles; -
figure 3 is a perspective view of the blade holder-blade group; -
figure 4 is a front view of the illustration infigure 3 . - With reference to the accompanying tables of the drawings, 1 denotes in its entirety a blade-holder to be associated to a work-head, not illustrated, which is an integral part of a machine for cutting hides and the like, also not illustrated, and 2 denotes a tool, in particular a blade.
- The
holder 1 is constituted by a hooking element 10 (partially illustrated in the figures of the drawings) to be associated in a known way to the work-head of a machine, which hookingelement 10 forms a blade-holding organ 11. - The blade-
holding organ 11, as illustrated infigure 1 , affords ahousing 12 having a width which is not smaller than a width of theblade 2, whichhousing 12 is for example shaped such as to identify two opposite walls 12a, 12b, respective a first wall 12a and a second wall 12b, the second wall 12b being shorter than the first wall 12a. - An
engagement element 14 extends from the first wall 12a, transversally to and at a predefined distance from theterminal portion 110 of the blade-holding organ 110. - The bottom 12c of the
housing 12 affords a through-hole 15 at a distance d from the edge of theterminal portion 110. - A
pin 16 is solidly constrained to the external surface of the second wall 12b, whichpin 16 idly supports an anti-rotation bearing 17 which Is mobile, following cutting operations, along a corresponding guide (not illustrated). Theterminal portion 110 of the blade-hookingorgan 11 affords anopening 18 communicating with thehousing 12, the function of which will be more fully described herein below. - The
blade 2 has known characteristics of a parallelogram shape and is provided with a central hole F and, as illustrated by way of example infigure 2 , is provided, at short oblique sides thereof, with two cutting edges T1, T2. - The
long sides 2a, 2b of theblade 2 are respectively provided, at a distance K from the point P of each cutting edge T1, T2, with a corresponding seating R. - As illustrated in
figures 3, 4 , theblade 2 is positioned in thehousing 12 of the blade-holding organ 11, such as to define a mutual coupling between theengagement element 14 and the seating R fashioned on one of the twolong sides 2a, 2b of theblade 2, with a part of the respective surfaces of the long sides of theblade 2 abutting the respective first seating 12a and second seating 12b. - With this positioning, the hole F of the
blade 2 is coaxial to the through-hole 15 afforded in the blade-holding organ 11 and, as illustrated infigure 3 , the cutting edge T2 of theblade 2 projects from theopening 18 in order to be able to cut the article following activation of the cutting machine to which the blade-blade holder group 2 is blocked. - Thereafter, the mutual coupling is stabilised by suitable known fastening means, not illustrated, in the hole F and the through-
hole 15. - The group described for blocking the
blade 2 to a relative support in machines for cutting articles exhibits particularly advantageous characteristics. - The mutual coupling between the
engagement element 14 and the seating R, following the positioning in and stabilising of theblade 2 to the blade-holding organ 11, is advantageous, as the correct positioning of theblade 2 is guaranteed with respect to the blade-holding organ 11 and any eventual changes in the position and axial orientation of theblade 2 with respect to the blade-holding organ 11, following the article-cutting operations. - The fact of comprising, in each
long side 2a, 2b of theblade 2, a seating R at a distance K from the point P of each cutting edge T1, T2 enables the blade to be turned with respect to the blade-holding organ 11 following wear on one of the cutting edges T1, T2. - The blocking means are extracted from the hole F and the through-
hole 15, theblade 2 is extracted from thehousing 12, theblade 2 is turned and newly positioned in thehousing 12, such that the seating R afforded on the other long side of theblade 2 couples with theengagement element 14. The resulting coupling is then blocked as previously described. - The fact of associating the blade 2 -
blade holder 1 group, realised as described herein above, to known machines to the work-head for cutting articles, is advantageous, as the technical-functional characteristics connected to the precision-cutting of the articles are increased with use thereof.
