Definitions
- the present invention relates to a guideway for capping articles of the metal cap or other type which makes it possible to supply the capping head of said machine, according to the preamble of claim 1 and as disclosed in FIG. US 1,434,376 .
- the feeding of a closure head is generally effected by means of a long guide corridor which extends between the machine for orienting and sorting the capsules and said closing head.
- This long guide corridor comprises, upstream of the closure head, a vertical portion which is in the form of a column called gravity fall.
- This flexibility and versatility of the machines involve management of the vertical displacement of the closure head and, consequently, identical management of the movement of the downstream part of the corridor to modify the size of the gravity chute.
- the present invention proposes an arrangement of this guiding corridor for metal capsules, which arrangement makes it possible to automatically adjust the length and the height of the guiding corridor of these capsules and in particular the dimension of the vertical part of the gravity drop of the corridor which is located just upstream of the capping head, so as to match this varying the size of said guide corridor with the variation in size of the bottles; this gives a self-adaptation of the guide corridor according to the size of the articles to be plugged.
- the present invention defines a guide corridor according to claim 1.
- the extensible portion of the baffle is delimited by side walls which consist, for one, of a side wall belonging to the fixed section and, for the other, of a wall lateral part belonging to the movable section.
- the upper oblique wall (left bank) of the fixed section extends above the sole of the movable section, to the level of the side wall (bank left) of said movable section, to form a continuity between said walls which define the left bank, that is to say that of said fixed section and that of said movable section.
- the oblique portions of the baffle make an angle with the portion of variable length of this baffle, which angle is of the order of 45 °.
- the front or upper guide of the fixed section extends over a part of the movable floor and on the corresponding right side wall of the movable section and, for the left bank, on the other hand, the front guide, or upper, said movable section extends on the end of the left side wall of said fixed section, so as to form, above said movable hearth, a continuity of the guiding surface of the capsules as they pass from one section to another.
- the fixed section serves as a cradle for the mobile section, which cradle, U- shaped comprises a sole and slide systems arranged on each of said sections.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 show, schematically, the essential elements of a bottle capping machine 1; the figure 1 illustrating a machine set for large bottles 1 and the figure 2 illustrating a machine set for bottles 1 of smaller size.
- This capping machine comprises a general frame 2 provided with a sole 3 which makes it possible to convey the bottles 1. These bottles 1 are positioned under a head 4 of closure, which head 4 is vertically movable, under the effect of appropriate means, to adapt its position according to the size of the bottles 1.
- This closure head 4 is supplied with closure articles 5 and in particular articles of the metal capsule type, by means of a column-shaped corridor 6 of rectangular section or the like.
- This corridor 6 consists, as detailed below, of a sole, of front or upper guides, and side walls arranged vis-à-vis, forming the right and left banks.
- This corridor 6 constitutes a gravity drop upstream of the closure head 4 and is fed from a machine for orientation and sorting of the capsules, not shown, generally called: cap feeder.
- This corridor 6 comprises two parts: an upper part 61 which is fixed, fixed to the frame 2 of the machine or the like, and a lower part 62 which is integral with the closure head 4 and which is displaced with this head 4 of clogging during adjustments.
- the closure head 4 is guided vertically by means of a support 7 integral with the frame 2 and a sliding system 8 which makes it possible to lock its position. In its upward or downward vertical movement, during an adjustment, this closure head 4 drives the mobile part 62 of the corridor 6.
- This corridor 6 comprises a portion 9 which is telescopic, at the connection of the fixed portion 61 and the movable portion 62.
- This telescopic portion 9 makes it possible to absorb the variations in height of the passage 6 because of the displacement of the closure head 4 during a change of format of the bottles 1.
- the telescopic portion 9 includes, as detailed Figures 1 and 2 , between the parts 61 and 62 of the corridor 6, a baffle 10 which is the junction between said parts 61 and 62.
- This baffle 10, Z-shaped or double bayonet has a dual interest: it allows to absorb variations dimensional dimensions of the corridor 6 during a change of format of the bottles 1 and, in addition, it allows to unpack the capsules by forming a kind of pressure reducer. This pressure reduction in the column of capsules 5 facilitates the movement of these capsules 5 in the corridor 6 and in particular in the lower part of this corridor which is connected to the head 4 capping.
- the baffle 10 comprises two corridor portions which are arranged obliquely with respect to the parts 61 and 62 which respectively form the entry and exit passages of the capsules at this baffle 10 and an intermediate portion of the corridor of variable length, which is parallel to these parts 61 and 62.
- the baffle 10 of the passage 6 comprises: - an upper oblique portion 11 attached to the upper portion 61 of said passage 6, - a lower oblique portion 12 attached to the lower portion 62 of said passage 6, and - an intermediate portion 13 which is extensible and which is parallel to said fixed top portion 61 and movable lower portion 62.
- the two oblique portions 11 and 12 of the corridor are mutually parallel and they make an angle a of about 45 ° with the portion 13 stretchable.
- These three portions 11, 12 and 13 form a Z whose central branch is extensible. It can also be said that this baffle 10 is bayonet-shaped, consisting of two juxtaposed bayonets whose portion 13 is common.
- the figure 3 shows, in more detail, the telescopic portion 9 of the corridor 6 with this baffle 10, which corridor 6 is shown in fine mixed lines on either side of this telescopic portion 9.
- This telescopic portion 9 consists of a section 15 which is fixed, integral, for example, of the frame 2 and a section 16 which is movable, guided with respect to said section 15, which section 16 is integral with the head 4 capping via part 62 of the corridor 6.
- the capsules 5 circulate in a channel 18, identified in particular figure 4 of rectangular section for example, which channel 18 is delimited in width by side walls.
- this channel 18 is delimited by a wall 19 acting as a left bank and a wall 20 as a right bank.
- this channel 18 is delimited by a wall 21 which extends over the entire length of said section 16, acting as a left bank and a wall 22 which acts as a right bank.
- This wall 22 extends over the lower part only of the section 16, over a length that corresponds substantially to half the length of this section 16.
- the wall 19 extends over the sole 23 of the section 16, over the entire width S of this sole, which width corresponds to the distance separating the side walls forming the right bank and the left bank, which distance corresponds substantially to the diameter of the capsules 5 metal.
- the figure 3 shows the telescopic portion 9 of the corridor 6 in a configuration which corresponds to the capping of bottles 1 of large size, as detailed previously figure 1 .
- the length T of the extensible portion 13, delimited by the points B and C, is relatively small. The length T could be almost zero.
- the figure 5 shows the telescopic portion 9 in a configuration that corresponds to the filling of small bottles 1.
- the length T of the extensible portion 13 has automatically adjusted under the effect of the vertical displacement of the closure head 4.
- Each side wall carries a front guide, or upper, fixed by screws: - the wall 19 carries a guide 24, - the wall 20 carries a guide 25, the wall 21 carries a guide 26 and - the wall 22 carries a guide 27.
- the guide 25 extends over a portion, about one third, of the sole 28 and it also extends on the section 16; it extends on the telescopic portion of the sole 23 and on the wall 22, on a portion whose length varies according to the size of the bottles 1 to be closed.
- the guide 26 which is fixed on the wall 21, partially covers the sole 23 over its entire length and it also covers the downstream end of the side wall 19, left bank, which is part of the section 15.
- This arrangement makes it possible to offer a continuous and smooth surface to the capsules, along the entire length of the telescopic portion 9 of the corridor 6.
- the surface of the lateral guiding walls, forming the right and left banks of the corridor delimits, with the sole and the frontal guides, a section of continuous passage for capsules 5. Indeed, the breaks in continuity of these side walls are arranged in closed corners of the path traveled by the capsules 5 and they are without risk of snagging for the latter.
- the Figures 3 to 6 show that the section 15 is arranged to also serve as a cradle for the section 16.
- This section 15 comprises a sole 30 which extends over a width which corresponds to the width of the section 16 and this sole 30 is extended by a wing 31 lateral.
- the figure 7 shows the fixed section 15 which acts as a cradle for the movable section 16 which is shown figure 8 .
- the fixed section 15 comprises, for example, lateral grooves 33 and the movable section 16 comprises, on each side, on its flanks, tongues 34 which cooperate with said grooves 33.
- Guiding of the section 16 with respect to the section 15 can also be carried out with guide means of the type of rollers and rails, for example, said rollers being installed on the back of said fixed section, on a suitable base, to cooperate with vertical rails which are integral with said movable section, said rails being carried by a structure which allows them to be moved laterally to the level of the rollers, on the back of said fixed section.
- the arrangement of the side walls 19 and 20 of the section 15 and the walls 21 and 22 of the section 16 makes it possible to obtain a continuity of these different walls in order to guide the capsules 5 at their serrated peripheral rim. .
- These side walls have a surface that is uniform, from the entrance to the exit of this telescopic portion 9 of the corridor, that is to say a smooth surface, even, flat, without holes, which avoids any risk of hooking and wedging of these metal capsules.
