Description
- The present invention relates to an exercising device and, more particularly, to a gyration type exercising device.
- A conventional exercising device comprises a
housing 50, afront rotation mechanism 60 mounted on the front side of thehousing 50, arear rotation mechanism 70 mounted on the rear side of thehousing 50, agear unit 52 mounted in thehousing 50 and connected with thefront rotation mechanism 60 and therear rotation mechanism 70 to control movement of thefront rotation mechanism 60 and therear rotation mechanism 70, and adrive motor 51 mounted in thehousing 50 and connected with thegear unit 52 to drive thegear unit 52. The front side of thehousing 50 is provided with amounting tube 53. Thefront rotation mechanism 60 includes a rotation upright 61 rotatably mounted in themounting tube 53 and rotated by thegear unit 52, aretractable bar 62 mounted on the upper end of the rotation upright 61, a connectingrod 63 rotatably mounted on theretractable bar 62, and a T-shaped handle 64 having a first end mounted on the connectingrod 63 and a second end provided with agrip 641. Therear rotation mechanism 70 includes arotation post 71 rotatably mounted in thehousing 50 and rotated by thegear unit 52, anelbow 711 mounted on the upper end of therotation post 71, atransverse bar 72 mounted on theelbow 711, aroller 74 rotatably mounted on the bottom of thetransverse bar 72 and movable on the top of thehousing 50, and arotation disk 73 rotatably mounted on the top of thetransverse bar 72. When in use, a user is placed on the exercising device with his feet treading therotation disk 73 and with his hands holding thegrip 641. Thus, when thegear unit 52 is driven by thedrive motor 51, thefront rotation mechanism 60 and therear rotation mechanism 70 are rotated by thegear unit 52 simultaneously to swivel the user's body so as to achieve an exercising effect. However, the user is moved by operation of thedrive motor 51 so that the user does not move his body by himself, thereby decreasing the exercising effect of the exercising device. -
DE 298 16 928 U1 disclosed a stepper with a gyration unit, a damper being mounted on the gyration unit, and a handle connected with the gyration unit. The gyration unit includes a mounting frame, and a rotation wheel rotably mounted on the mounting frame and driven by the operation of the stepper and/or handle. The handle is mounted concentrically at the rotation wheel. Further, the stepper comprises a damper being mounted on the frame of the gyration unit and having a side pressing a periphery of the rotation wheel to provide a damping force to the rotation wheel of the gyration unit. -
US 5,766,115 A discloses a hip training device with a rotation wheel. A drive handle is eccentrically connected to the rotation wheel. At the end of the drive handle a rest plate is provided which is bound to the abdomen of the user. Thus, the swinging, circling movement of the hips of the user are transmitted to the rotation wheel turning continuously. -
US 5 766 115 A relates to a hip-training device comprising a base frame whereon three dampers with a U-shaped recess are mounted. In the recesses, a disc is held rotatably. A vertical bar is connected to the disc and is attached with its other end to a horizontal bar having a handle and a rest plate for attachment of a user's hip. -
US 2007/0270294 A1 discloses an abdominator wherein an U-shaped handlebar is mounted to a so-called riser. The U-shaped handlebar together with the riser can be pivoted parallel to the plane of the floor on which the abdominator is standing. A pivot arm fixed to the riser is attached to a power pulley which, via a belt, drives a flywheel. The riser is usually not moveable with respect to the pivot arm. However, in order to bring the abdominator in an overall folded configuration, one can loosen a fixing means and pivot the riser about a rotation shaft. In accordance with the present invention, there is provided an exercising device according toindependent claim 1 or according to independent claim 2. - The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a gyration type exercising device that can exercise a user's body completely.
- According to the primary advantage of the present invention, when the user's two hands hold the holding bar to move the drive handle in a gyration manner, the user's body has to move forward and backward in a reciprocal manner and has to exert a force on the drive handle successively to rotate the rotation wheel reciprocally so as to exercise the user's body completely, thereby enhancing the exercising effect.

Fig. 17 is a side cross-sectional view of a conventional exercising device in accordance with the prior art. - Referring to the drawings and initially to
Figs. 1-4 , a gyration type exercising device in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises agyration unit 10, adamper 20 mounted on thegyration unit 10 and adrive handle 30 connected with thegyration unit 10. - The
gyration unit 10 includes amounting frame 11 and arotation wheel 12 rotatably mounted on themounting frame 11 and driven by operation of thedrive handle 30. Therotation wheel 12 of thegyration unit 10 is provided with arotation shaft 121 which is rotatably mounted on themounting frame 11. Therotation shaft 121 is secured on and located at a central portion of therotation wheel 12 so that therotation wheel 12 is rotatable about therotation shaft 121. - The
damper 20 is mounted on themounting frame 11 of thegyration unit 10 and has a side pressing a periphery of therotation wheel 12 to provide a damping force to therotation wheel 12 of thegyration unit 10. Thedamper 20 provides a damping force to therotation wheel 12 of thegyration unit 10 in a frictional, magnetically attractive or generator manner. - The gyration type exercising device further comprises a
tension adjusting member 21 mounted on themounting frame 11 of thegyration unit 10 and connected with thedamper 20 to move thedamper 20 relative to therotation wheel 12 of thegyration unit 10 so as to adjust the damping force of thedamper 20 applied on therotation wheel 12 of thegyration unit 10. - The
drive handle 30 is pivotally connected with therotation wheel 12 of thegyration unit 10. Thedrive handle 30 has a first end pivotally connected with therotation wheel 12 of thegyration unit 10 and a second end provided with aholding bar 31. The first end of thedrive handle 30 is arranged eccentrically on therotation wheel 12 of thegyration unit 10. Theholding bar 31 is perpendicular to thedrive handle 30. - The gyration type exercising device further comprises a
support rack 13 mounted on a bottom of themounting frame 11 to support themounting frame 11 of thegyration unit 10, and atread cushion 131 mounted on a side of thesupport rack 13. - In operation, referring to
Figs. 3 and4 with reference toFigs. 1 and2 , themounting frame 11 of thegyration unit 10 is placed on and supported by thesupport rack 13. Thus, a user's two hands can hold theholding bar 31 to drive and move thedrive handle 30 in a gyration manner so that thedrive handle 30 is moved and revolved forward and backward to gyrate and rotate therotation wheel 12 about therotation shaft 121 reciprocally. In such a manner, the user has to exert a force on thedrive handle 30 successively to rotate therotation wheel 12 about therotation shaft 121 reciprocally so as to exercise the user's body completely. - As shown in
Fig. 5 , themounting frame 11 of thegyration unit 10 is placed on and supported by a table 1. - As shown in
Fig. 6 , the adjustingmember 21 is movable on themounting frame 11 of thegyration unit 10 to move thedamper 20 relative to therotation wheel 12 of thegyration unit 10 so as to adjust the damping force of thedamper 20 applied on therotation wheel 12 of thegyration unit 10. - Referring to
Fig. 7 , giving additional information but being not part of the invention, therotation shaft 121 protrudes outward from therotation wheel 12 of thegyration unit 10, and the gyration type exercising device further comprises acrank 32 mounted between therotation shaft 121 and thedrive handle 30 and having a first end secured on therotation shaft 121 to rotate therotation shaft 121 and a second end pivotally connected with thedrive handle 30 to move in concert with thedrive handle 30. Thus, thecrank 32 is driven by thedrive handle 30 to rotate therotation shaft 121 so as to rotate therotation wheel 12. - Referring to
Figs. 8-12 , the gyration type exercising device further comprises atransmission mechanism 40 mounted between thegyration unit 10 and thedrive handle 30 to transmit a power of thedrive handle 30 to thegyration unit 10. Thegyration unit 10 further includes a drivenmember 122 secured on therotation shaft 121 to rotate therotation shaft 121. Preferably, the drivenmember 122 of thegyration unit 10 is a driven wheel. - The
transmission mechanism 40 includes adrive member 42 rotatably mounted on the mountingframe 11 of thegyration unit 10 and atransmission member 41 mounted between thedrive member 42 and the drivenmember 122 of thegyration unit 10 to transmit a power of thedrive member 42 to the drivenmember 122 of thegyration unit 10. Preferably, thedrive member 42 of thetransmission mechanism 40 is a drive wheel and has a diameter greater than that of the drivenmember 122 of thegyration unit 10. In addition, thetransmission member 41 of thetransmission mechanism 40 is a belt. - The drive handle 30 is pivotally connected with the
transmission mechanism 40. The drive handle 30 has a first end pivotally connected with thedrive member 42 of thetransmission mechanism 40 and a second end provided with a holdingbar 31. The first end of thedrive handle 30 is arranged eccentrically on thedrive member 42 of thetransmission mechanism 40. - In operation, referring to
Figs. 10-12 with reference toFigs. 8 and9 , the mountingframe 11 of thegyration unit 10 is placed on and supported by thesupport rack 13. Thus, a user's two hands can hold the holdingbar 31 to drive and move thedrive member 42 which drives thetransmission member 41 which drives the drivenmember 122 which drives therotation shaft 121 which rotates therotation wheel 12 so that therotation wheel 12 is rotated by driving of thedrive handle 30. In such a manner, the user has to exert a force on the drive handle 30 successively to rotate therotation wheel 12 reciprocally so as to exercise the user's body completely. - Referring to
Fig. 13 , giving additional information but being not part of the invention, thedrive member 42 of thetransmission mechanism 40 has a central portion provided with arotation rod 43, and the gyration type exercising device further comprises a crank 32 mounted between thetransmission mechanism 40 and thedrive handle 30 and having a first end secured on therotation rod 43 to rotate therotation rod 43 and thedrive member 42 and a second end pivotally connected with thedrive handle 30 to move in concert with thedrive handle 30. Thus, thecrank 32 is driven by thedrive handle 30 to rotate therotation rod 43 which rotates thedrive member 42 which drives thetransmission member 41 which drives the drivenmember 122 which drives therotation shaft 121 which rotates therotation wheel 12 so that therotation wheel 12 is rotated by driving of thedrive handle 30. - Referring to
Figs. 14-16 , therotation wheel 12 is disposed at an upright state, and the mountingframe 11 is also disposed at an upright state. Thegyration unit 10 further includes a drivenmember 122 secured on therotation wheel 12 to rotate therotation wheel 12. The drivenmember 122 is rotatably mounted on therotation shaft 121. Preferably, the drivenmember 122 of thegyration unit 10 is a bevel gear. Thetransmission mechanism 40 includes adrive member 44 rotatably mounted on the mountingframe 11 and atransmission member 41 mounted on thedrive member 44 and engaging the drivenmember 122 to transmit a power of thedrive member 44 to the drivenmember 122. Preferably, thedrive member 44 is an upright rod, and thetransmission member 41 is a bevel gear which is secured on a lower end of thedrive member 44. The gyration type exercising device further comprises a crank 32 mounted between thetransmission mechanism 40 and thedrive handle 30 and having a first end secured on an upper end of thedrive member 44 to rotate thedrive member 44 and a second end pivotally connected with thedrive handle 30 to move in concert with thedrive handle 30. Thus, thecrank 32 is driven by thedrive handle 30 to rotate thedrive member 44 which rotates thetransmission member 41 which rotates the drivenmember 122 which rotates therotation wheel 12 so that therotation wheel 12 is rotated by driving of thedrive handle 30. - Accordingly, when the user's two hands hold the holding
bar 31 to move thedrive handle 30 in a gyration manner, the user's body has to move forward and backward in a reciprocal manner and has to exert a force on the drive handle 30 successively to rotate therotation wheel 12 reciprocally so as to exercise the user's body completely, thereby enhancing the exercising effect. In addition, the adjustingmember 21 is movable on the mountingframe 11 to move thedamper 20 relative to therotation wheel 12 so as to adjust the resistance and damping force of thedamper 20 applied on therotation wheel 12. - Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
Claims (6)
- An exercising device, comprising:a gyration unit (10);a damper (20) mounted on the gyration unit; anda drive handle (30) connected with the gyration unit;wherein the gyration unit includes:a mounting frame (11); and
a rotation wheel (12) rotatably mounted on the mounting frame (11) and drivable by operation of the drive handle (30), such that the rotation wheel (12) rotates reciprocally during operation of the exercising device;the damper (20) is mounted on the mounting frame (11) of the gyration unit and has a side pressing a periphery of the rotation wheel to provide a damping force to the rotation wheel (12) of the gyration unit (10);wherein the rotation wheel (12) of the gyration unit (10) is provided with a rotation shaft (121) which is rotatably mounted on the mounting frame (11), wherein a first end of the drive handle (30) is pivotally mounted to and eccentrically arranged on the rotation wheel (12) of the gyration unit (10) or wherein the first end of the drive handle (30) is pivotally mounted to a second end of a crank (32), the first end of which being secured to the rotation shaft (121) of the gyration unit (10), the first end of the drive handle (30) being pivotable during operation of the exercising device. - An exercising device, comprising:a gyration unit (10);a damper (20) mounted on the gyration unit; anda drive handle (30) connected with the gyration unit;wherein the gyration unit includes:a mounting frame (11); anda rotation wheel (12) rotatably mounted on the mounting frame (11) and drivable by operation of the drive handle (30), such that the rotation wheel (12) rotates reciprocally;the damper (20) is mounted on the mounting frame (11) of the gyration unit and has a side pressing a periphery of the rotation wheel to provide a damping force to the rotation wheel (12) of the gyration unit (10);wherein the rotation wheel (12) of the gyration unit (10) is provided with a rotation shaft (121) which is rotatably mounted on the mounting frame (11);and in that the gyration unit (10) further comprises:a transmission mechanism (40) between the gyration unit (10) and the drive handle (30) to transmit a power of the drive handle (30) to the gyration unit (10);a driven member (122), secured on the rotation shaft (121) to rotate the rotation shaft (121);a drive member (42) rotatable about a rotation rod (43); anda transmission member (41) mounted between the drive member (42) and the driven member (122) of the gyration unit (10) to transmit power of the drive member (42) to the driven member (122), wherein a first end of the drive handle (30) is pivotally connected with and mounted eccentrically on the drive member (42) of the transmission mechanism (40) or wherein the end of the drive handle (30) is pivotally mounted to a second end of a crank (32), the first end of which being secured to the rotation rod (43) of the transmission mechanism (40), the first end of the drive handle (30) being pivotable during operation of the exercising device;.
- The exercising device of claim 1 or 2, wherein the gyration type exercising device further comprises:a tension adjusting member (21) mounted on the mounting frame (11) of the gyration unit (10) and connected with the damper (20) to move the damper (20) relative to the rotation wheel (12) of the gyration unit (10) so as to adjust the damping force of the damper (20) applied on the rotation wheel (12) of the gyration unit (10);a support rack (13) mounted on a bottom of the mounting frame (11) to support the mounting frame (11) of the gyration unit (10);a tread cushion (131) mounted on a side of the support rack (13);the tension adjusting member (21) is movable on the mounting frame (11) of the gyration unit to move the damper (20) relative to the rotation wheel (12) of the gyration unit (10) so as to adjust the damping force of the damper (20) applied on the rotation wheel (12) of the gyration unit (10).
- The exercising device of claim 1 or 2, wherein the mounting frame of the gyration unit is placed on and supported by a table;
the rotation shaft is secured on and located at a central portion of the rotation wheel so that the rotation wheel is rotatable about the rotation shaft. - The exercising device of claim 1 or 2, wherein
the drive handle (30) has a second end provided with a holding bar (31). - The exercising device of claim 2, wherein
the transmission mechanism (40) includes:said drive member (42) rotatably mounted on the mounting frame (11) of the gyration unit (10); and
the drive handle (30) has a first end pivotally connected with the drive member (42) of the transmission mechanism (40) and a second end provided with a holding bar (31),
whereinthe driven member (122) of the gyration unit (10) is a driven wheel;the drive member (42) of the transmission mechanism (40) is a drive wheel;the transmission member (41) of the transmission mechanism (40) is a belt.
