EP 1 268 218 B1 describes a type of printing blankets other than the present invention, namely a flat image transfer blanket having an inextensible base layer in the form of a flat metal plate which can be clamped by its ends in a clamping gap of a blanket cylinder. Such printing blankets have significantly different material properties due to their inextricability than radially expandable sleeve-shaped blankets and they also have a significantly different spatial-geometric structure. The EP 1 268 218 B1 at column 4 states that it is impractical to mount a standard tissue blanket on an undetachable metal base liner because the resulting blanket is extremely difficult to handle and tense.

Fabric layers are produced in that - usually arranged parallel to each other - warp threads in the longitudinal direction of the fabric web to be produced stretched or otherwise provided and then - usually after mutual spatial offset of at least a portion of the warp threads, usually in one Direction perpendicular to the fabric web - wefts are inserted between the warp threads to make the interweaving of the fabric. Thus, such a tissue layer is usually automatic aligned so that the warp threads are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the material web and the weft threads in a direction transverse to the material web. Warp threads and weft threads have different material properties. Thus, the warp threads are due to the assumed higher mechanical load of fabrics usually reinforced suitably to accommodate these higher mechanical loads can. Tissues are thus inhomogeneous with respect to their material properties, ie have different material properties in the direction of the warp threads than in the direction of the weft threads.

The same applies to blanket webs containing fabric layers. Normally, a blanket web already has the desired extent which is required for the expansion of a blanket in the axial direction of a blanket cylinder which is to be equipped with the blanket. Therefore, sections of the printing blanket material web are cut off so far whose length in the longitudinal direction of the material web corresponds to the circumferential length of the blanket cylinder to be loaded, so that then automatically the warp threads of the fabric layer of the blanket in the circumferential direction of the blanket cylinder are arranged on the blanket cylinder. This is in the FIGS. 1, 2 and 8th shown.

However, it has surprisingly been found that such a blanket arrangement still has certain disadvantages with respect to the web transport of a paper web in a printing machine, as well as the registerability of the blanket is not optimally pronounced.

To fix disadvantages. This object is solved by the features of independent claims 1, 5 and 6.

A first subject of the invention relates to a blanket for attachment to a blanket cylinder, at least comprising an inner carrier layer, a first intermediate layer formed as a fabric layer and an outer cover layer, wherein the fabric layer includes warp threads and weft threads. According to the invention it is provided that the blanket can be mounted on the blanket cylinder such that the warp threads extend in the axial direction of the blanket cylinder and the weft threads in the circumferential direction of the blanket cylinder. The blanket is formed as a sleeve-shaped blanket, which can be pushed in the form of a cylinder over the blanket cylinder. For this purpose, the blanket is radially stretchable, so that for pushing the blanket on the blanket cylinder, this blanket can be expanded by radial expansion and then shrunk onto the blanket cylinder by easing the radial expansion.

By this, unusual but advantageous after the realization of the invention arrangement in which the warp threads are arranged in the axial direction of the blanket cylinder and the weft yarns in the circumferential direction, optimized properties of the blanket with respect to web transport and register capability can be achieved. As already stated, the warp threads are usually suitably reinforced due to the assumed higher mechanical load on fabrics in order to be able to absorb these higher mechanical loads. Conversely, the arrangement of the weft threads - which have a lower mechanical stability - in the circumferential direction of the cylinder promotes a radial extensibility of sleeve-shaped blankets. The fact that such fabrics are inhomogeneous with respect to their material properties, namely in the direction of the warp threads have different material properties than in the direction of the weft threads, is thus advantageously used in the present invention for the realization of radially expansible, sleeve-shaped blankets.

In this case, provision is made in particular for the extent of the fabric layer or the entire blanket to be greater in the direction of the warp threads than in the direction of the weft threads. In particular, such a blanket may preferably have an extent greater than 2.5 m in the direction of the warp threads. This is made possible by the increased mechanical stability of the warp threads.

Furthermore, it can be provided that the carrier layer is formed as a metal layer or plastic layer or fabric layer or as a combination this aforementioned material layers. The carrier layer is in particular designed so that it allows a reliable assembly of the blanket on the blanket cylinder, but may also additionally have a supporting and stabilizing, especially shape-stabilizing effect, as given for example in metal carrier layers or plastic carrier layers due to the stiffness of the material is.

It can further be provided that a second intermediate layer formed as a compressible layer is arranged between the carrier layer and the fabric layer described above.

Another object of the invention is a printing unit for a web-fed printing press, at least comprising
  • a form cylinder with a printing plate, which has at least 96 printed pages
  • a blanket cylinder having a blanket, at least comprising an inner carrier layer, a first intermediate layer formed as a fabric layer and an outer cover layer, wherein the fabric layer includes warp threads and weft threads,

The blanket is formed as a sleeve-shaped blanket, which can be pushed in the form of a cylinder over the blanket cylinder. For this purpose, the blanket is radially stretchable, so that for pushing the blanket on the blanket cylinder this blanket can be widened by radial expansion and then shrunk onto the blanket cylinder by easing the radial expansion.

This printing blanket can be further developed in the context of the printing unit according to the invention also analogous to the printing blanket according to the invention described above be so also have the above features of the blanket individually or in combination.

The Figures 1 and 2 show a blanket 11 according to the prior art, which is designed for attachment to a blanket cylinder 8. This printing blanket 11 has an inner carrier layer 4, which is designed as a fabric layer 6 first intermediate layer and an outer cover layer 7, wherein the fabric layer 6 includes warp threads 2 and weft threads 3. This blanket 11 is according to the prior art so on a blanket cylinder 8 (as he, for example, in Fig. 5 shown) attachable, that the warp threads 2 extend in the circumferential direction of the blanket cylinder 8 and the weft threads 3 in the axial direction of the blanket cylinder 8.

In contrast, the show FIGS. 3 and 4 an inventive blanket 1, which is also designed for attachment to a blanket cylinder 8. Figures 5 and 6 show how this blanket according to the invention is mounted on the blanket cylinder 8. This also has: an inner carrier layer 4, a first intermediate layer formed as a fabric layer 6 and an outer cover layer 7, wherein the fabric layer 6 includes warp threads 2 and weft threads 3. After the FIGS. 3 and 4 but is the blanket so on the in Fig. 5 shown blanket cylinder 8 is fastened, that the warp threads 2 extend in the axial direction A of the blanket cylinder 8 and the weft threads 3 in the circumferential direction of the blanket cylinder 8. Fig. 5 shows in cross section for reasons of simplicity, only the weft threads 3, as well as in the enlarged detail according to Fig. 6 recognizable. In fact, however, the cross section is as in Fig. 4 shown formed so that between the warp threads 3, the weft threads 2 are woven. Show this Fig. 4 most clearly the details in cross section through the blanket 1 on the blanket cylinder 8, Fig. 4 thus provides a further enlarged cross-sectional view FIGS. 5 and 6 represents.

The expansion of the fabric layer 6 is greater in the direction of the weft threads 3 than in the direction of the warp threads 2. The carrier layer 4 is either formed as a metal layer, for example as a metal backing in so-called sleeve-shaped blankets or sleeve blankets. However, the carrier layer 4 can also be formed as a plastic layer or similar rigid, preferably incompressible layer. Alternatively, the carrier layer 4 but also as a particularly reinforced, eg. be formed form-stabilizing fabric layer. The blanket 1 is formed as a sleeve-shaped, cylindrical blanket.

Between the carrier layer 4 and the fabric layer 6 may preferably be arranged as a compressible layer 7 formed second intermediate layer. It is also possible to provide even more than the layers shown, in particular even more compressible layers and fabric layers between carrier layer 4 and cover layer 7. Thus, for example. Repeat the sequence of intermediate layers 5 and 6 once more or several times.

An inventive printing unit for a web-fed printing press has a forme cylinder 16 with a printing plate 9, which carries at least 96 printed pages 10. This is partial in Fig. 7 shown. The pressure plate 10 is still shown in a state in which it is not firmly clamped on the forme cylinder 16. It may be preferred to provide a single pressure plate which carries the complete at least 96 printed pages. Alternatively, a plurality of printing plates 10 could be provided on the forme cylinder 16, which carry a total of 96 pages. A single pressure plate is preferred for reasons of minimized effort.

To the printing unit according to the invention then also includes a blanket cylinder 8 after Fig. 5 with a blanket 1, at least comprising an inner carrier layer 4, a first intermediate layer formed as a fabric layer 6 and an outer cover layer 7, the fabric layer 6 comprising warp threads 2 and weft threads 3. As in Fig. 5 As shown, the blanket is fixed on the blanket cylinder 8 so that the warp threads 2 extend in the axial direction A of the blanket cylinder 8 and the weft threads 3 in the circumferential direction of the blanket cylinder 8.

Ausschnitt 11 a zeigt die bisherige konventionelle Herstellungsart für Drucktücher 11.For producing a printing blanket 1 according to the invention described above, it is provided that from an in Fig. 8 a printing blanket cut 1a provided as printing blanket 1 is taken such that the extent of the blanket cutout 1a in the longitudinal direction 14 of the blanket web 12 is greater than the extent in the transverse direction 15 of the blanket web 12. the blanket cutout 11th a would be against Blanket 11 according to the prior art revealed, ie section 11 a shows the previous conventional production method for printing blankets 11th

The cutout 13 of the blanket material web 12 corresponds to the illustration in FIG Fig. 1 , which shows enlarged this section with the corresponding cross sections. It can be clearly seen how the warp threads 2 extend in the longitudinal direction 14 of the material web 12 and the weft threads 3 extend in the transverse direction 15 of the material web 12.
