Definitions
- the invention relates to a pumping device and a method for operating a pumping device, with the aid of which a sufficient pressure for a fuel injection system of a motor vehicle can be established.
- the object of the invention is to provide a pumping device and a method for operating a pumping device, with the aid of which in a space-saving manner rapid pressure build-up, as in particular in a start-stop situation, is made possible.
- a low-pressure accumulator for storing a part of the conveyed fluid is connected to a storage pressure with the low-pressure line.
- a sufficient volume of fuel can be stored at a sufficiently high pressure level, so that the high-pressure pump can be fed from the low-pressure accumulator during the startup phase of the transfer pump after turning on the motor vehicle.
- This allows after switching on the pumping device a rapid pressure build-up without increasing the installation space by a further pump, for example, provided in a fuel tank Intankpumpe significantly. Since only the reduced pump power of the transfer pump needs to be compensated during the start-up phase by the storage capacity of the low-pressure accumulator, the low-pressure accumulator can be dimensioned correspondingly small.
- the low-pressure accumulator can be integrated in particular in the pumping device, in particular in the housing of the pumping device. With the help of the low-pressure accumulator, a compressor chamber of the high-pressure pump can be filled, so that directly after switching on the Pumping device, the high-pressure pump with the first pumping operation can provide the required operating pressure for the fuel injection system. It is not necessary to connect a high-pressure accumulator to the outlet of the high-pressure pump, so that the low-pressure accumulator can be designed for sufficiently low pressures.
- the accumulator pressure in the low-pressure accumulator can correspond to the maximum possible pressure occurring in the low-pressure line. If the low-pressure accumulator is compressed after switching off the pumping device, the accumulator pressure may even be higher.
- the accumulator pressure can essentially correspond to the low pressure or be somewhat below it.
- the low-pressure accumulator can be gradually filled without the branched off in the low pressure accumulator flow affects the pump power of the high-pressure pump or reduces the guided into the fuel injection system flow rate.
- the transfer pump, the low-pressure line, the high-pressure pump and the low-pressure accumulator are arranged within a common housing of the pump device, resulting in correspondingly short line paths.
- the high-pressure pump has at least one inlet valve, wherein the inlet valve opens at an opening pressure p o and the accumulator pressure p s is greater than a pressure p o - ⁇ p which is one pressure difference ⁇ p below the opening pressure, the pressure difference ⁇ p being in particular 0.0 bar ⁇ p ⁇ 2.0 bar, preferably 0.1 bar ⁇ ⁇ p ⁇ 1.0 bar and particularly preferably 0.2 bar ⁇ ⁇ p ⁇ 0.5 bar.
- the accumulator pressure p s is slightly below the opening pressure of the inlet valve for the high-pressure pump. The fact that the inlet valve is closed at such a selected storage pressure, leakage losses are avoided via the piston / cylinder unit of the high-pressure pump.
- the low-pressure accumulator can assist the pressure build-up of the transfer pump during start-up, so that correspondingly quickly above the opening pressure p o of the inlet valve lying low pressure is built up.
- a selected storage pressure p s is available in order to be able to keep the volume of the low-pressure accumulator small and to avoid unnecessary leakage flows.
- the high-pressure pump at least one intake valve, said intake valve at an opening pressure p opens o and the reservoir pressure p s is greater than the opening pressure p o, where a pressure difference p s -p o of the accumulator pressure p s to the opening pressure p o in particular 0 , 05 bar ⁇ p s -p o ⁇ 2.0 bar, preferably 0.1 bar ⁇ p s -p o ⁇ 1.0 bar and particularly preferably 0.2 bar ⁇ p s -p o ⁇ 0.5 bar ,
- the accumulator pressure p s is slightly above the opening pressure p o , so that the inlet valve can remain open after the pumping device has been switched off.
- the compressor chamber of the piston / cylinder unit of the high pressure pump can thereby be filled from the low pressure accumulator, so that directly after starting the pumping device, the high pressure pump can provide the desired operating pressure for the fuel injection system.
- a selected accumulator pressure p s is particularly suitable in a start-stop situation, since the pumping device is only switched off for a short time in this case. In this short period of time, a leakage flow through the piston / cylinder unit of the high pressure pump is negligible compared to the total storage volume of the low pressure accumulator.
- the low-pressure accumulator has a volume which can be increased against a spring force. Due to the spring force, a defined minimum pressure can be exerted on the volume stored in the low-pressure accumulator, which can rest against the input of the high-pressure pump.
- the spring force is in particular progressively increasing with an increasing volume, so that the spring force gradually decreases with a reducing storage volume. This makes it possible to store a certain minimum volume of the low-pressure accumulator at the level of an opening pressure of an inlet valve of the high-pressure pump.
- the spring force at maximum volumes of the low-pressure accumulator provides a accumulator pressure p s which is greater than the opening pressure p o of the inlet valve of the high-pressure pump. With the help of the spring force, the low-pressure accumulator can pump fuel from the low-pressure accumulator into a piston / cylinder unit of the high-pressure pump when the pump device is switched off.
- the low pressure line between the transfer pump and the low-pressure accumulator on a holding valve wherein the holding valve is configured such that the holding valve is at least temporarily open after switching off the transfer pump during a wake of the transfer pump.
- the holding valve may be designed in the form of a volumetric flow control valve, which is mechanically driven, for example, by an electromagnetic actuator, wherein the electromagnetic actuator is controlled by an electronic control unit.
- the flow control valve allows a continuous adjustment of the throttle cross-section between the transfer pump of the high pressure pump to adjust the high pressure pump supplied fuel flow to the respective capacity of the high pressure pump.
- the invention further relates to an injection system for injecting fuel into an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle with a pumping device, which may be formed and further developed as described above and which is connected to a common rail injection line.
- a pumping device which may be formed and further developed as described above and which is connected to a common rail injection line.
- a sufficient volume of fuel can be stored at a sufficiently high pressure level, so that the high-pressure pump can be fed from the low-pressure accumulator during the startup of the transfer pump after switching on the pumping device, without an additional in the Fuel tank arranged Intankpumpe to increase the space requirement significantly.
- the common-rail injection line can provide an operating pressure sufficient for the fuel injection immediately after the start of the motor vehicle.
- the invention further relates to a method for operating a pump device, which may be formed and further developed in particular as described above, for a fuel injection system of a motor vehicle.
- the method comprises the steps of compressing a fluid to a low pressure by means of a transfer pump, storing the fluid with the low pressure in a low pressure accumulator on a reservoir pressure and pressurizing a high pressure pump to compress the low pressure fluid with the fluid from the low pressure accumulator after turning off the Transfer pump on.
- a sufficient volume of fuel can be stored at a sufficiently high pressure level, so that the high pressure pump can be fed from the low-pressure accumulator during the start-up phase of the transfer pump after switching on the pumping device without significantly increase the space requirement by an additional arranged in the fuel tank Intankpumpe.
- the method can in particular, as explained above with reference to the pumping device and be further developed.
- a holding valve for opening and / or closing a low-pressure line is provided between the transfer pump and the low-pressure accumulator, wherein the holding valve is at least partially opened after switching off the transfer pump during a trailing of the transfer pump.
- the low-pressure accumulator and / or a piston / cylinder unit of the high pressure pump can be supplied with fuel even after switching off the transfer pump. This allows an increased pressure level in the low pressure accumulator and / or in the piston / cylinder unit of the high pressure pump.
- the high-pressure pump has at least one inlet valve, wherein the inlet valve opens at an opening pressure p o .
- the high pressure pump is applied from the low-pressure accumulator with an accumulator pressure p s, the accumulator pressure p s higher immediately after the transfer pump is switched off than the opening pressure p o.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a pumping device and a method for operating a pumping device, with the aid of which a sufficient pressure for a fuel injection system of a motor vehicle can be established.
It is known to compress fuel to 1,000 to 2,000 bar for a fuel injection system, in particular a common rail system by means of a pumping device. For sucking the fuel, an integrated transfer pump is provided in the pumping device, which sucks fuel from a tank and compressed to a low pressure. The fuel is supplied at this low pressure level of a high-pressure pump integrated in the pumping device and compressed to the operating pressure required for the fuel injection system.
In particular, in motor vehicles with automatic start-stop, automatically switch off the motor vehicle at a standstill of the motor vehicle during normal driving and later turn it back on, it is particularly important that as soon as possible after switching on the motor vehicle, the required operating pressure for the fuel injection system is constructed. It has been found that the internal transfer pump of the pump device precludes a rapid pressure build-up, so that the transfer pump has been replaced by an Intankpumpe arranged in the fuel tank. However, the additional Intankpumpe leads to a cost increase and increased space requirements.
The object of the invention is to provide a pumping device and a method for operating a pumping device, with the aid of which in a space-saving manner rapid pressure build-up, as in particular in a start-stop situation, is made possible.
The object is achieved by a pumping device having the features of claim 1 and a method for operating a pumping device having the features of claim 8. Preferred embodiments of the invention are specified in the subclaims.
The pump device according to the invention for a motor vehicle injection system of a motor vehicle has a low pressure line for conducting a fluid with a low pressure, a transfer pump for compressing and conveying the fluid from a tank into the low pressure line and a high pressure pump for compressing and conveying the fluid from the low pressure line into a high pressure line on. According to the invention, a low-pressure accumulator for storing a part of the conveyed fluid is connected to a storage pressure with the low-pressure line.
By arranged between the transfer pump and the high-pressure pump low-pressure accumulator, a sufficient volume of fuel can be stored at a sufficiently high pressure level, so that the high-pressure pump can be fed from the low-pressure accumulator during the startup phase of the transfer pump after turning on the motor vehicle. This allows after switching on the pumping device a rapid pressure build-up without increasing the installation space by a further pump, for example, provided in a fuel tank Intankpumpe significantly. Since only the reduced pump power of the transfer pump needs to be compensated during the start-up phase by the storage capacity of the low-pressure accumulator, the low-pressure accumulator can be dimensioned correspondingly small. The low-pressure accumulator can be integrated in particular in the pumping device, in particular in the housing of the pumping device. The accumulator pressure in the low-pressure accumulator can correspond to the maximum possible pressure occurring in the low-pressure line. If the low-pressure accumulator is compressed after switching off the pumping device, the accumulator pressure may even be higher. As a rule, the accumulator pressure can essentially correspond to the low pressure or be somewhat below it. After switching on the pumping device and after starting the transfer pump, the low-pressure accumulator can be gradually filled without the branched off in the low pressure accumulator flow affects the pump power of the high-pressure pump or reduces the guided into the fuel injection system flow rate. In particular, the transfer pump, the low-pressure line, the high-pressure pump and the low-pressure accumulator are arranged within a common housing of the pump device, resulting in correspondingly short line paths.
In particular, the high-pressure pump has at least one inlet valve, wherein the inlet valve opens at an opening pressure p o and the accumulator pressure p s is greater than a pressure p o -Δp which is one pressure difference Δp below the opening pressure, the pressure difference Δp being in particular 0.0 bar <Δp ≤ 2.0 bar, preferably 0.1 bar ≤ Δp ≤ 1.0 bar and particularly preferably 0.2 bar ≤ Δp ≤ 0.5 bar. As a result, the accumulator pressure p s is slightly below the opening pressure of the inlet valve for the high-pressure pump. The fact that the inlet valve is closed at such a selected storage pressure, leakage losses are avoided via the piston / cylinder unit of the high-pressure pump. At the same time, the low-pressure accumulator can assist the pressure build-up of the transfer pump during start-up, so that correspondingly quickly above the opening pressure p o of the inlet valve lying low pressure is built up. In particular, when the motor vehicle and the pumping device are switched off for a long time, such a selected storage pressure p s is available in order to be able to keep the volume of the low-pressure accumulator small and to avoid unnecessary leakage flows.
Preferably, the high-pressure pump at least one intake valve, said intake valve at an opening pressure p opens o and the reservoir pressure p s is greater than the opening pressure p o, where a pressure difference p s -p o of the accumulator pressure p s to the opening pressure p o in particular 0 , 05 bar ≦ p s -p o ≦ 2.0 bar, preferably 0.1 bar ≦ p s -p o ≦ 1.0 bar and particularly preferably 0.2 bar ≦ p s -p o ≦ 0.5 bar , As a result, the accumulator pressure p s is slightly above the opening pressure p o , so that the inlet valve can remain open after the pumping device has been switched off. The compressor chamber of the piston / cylinder unit of the high pressure pump can thereby be filled from the low pressure accumulator, so that directly after starting the pumping device, the high pressure pump can provide the desired operating pressure for the fuel injection system. Such a selected accumulator pressure p s is particularly suitable in a start-stop situation, since the pumping device is only switched off for a short time in this case. In this short period of time, a leakage flow through the piston / cylinder unit of the high pressure pump is negligible compared to the total storage volume of the low pressure accumulator. Even if the pump means a longer time is off, the accumulator pressure p s due to the leakage current to the piston / cylinder unit would pass slowly lowered to the accumulator pressure p s of the low-pressure accumulator the opening pressure p o below the intake valve of the high pressure pump and the inlet valve closes , By the closed inlet valve, a further leakage flow through the piston / cylinder unit is avoided, while the accumulator pressure p s is maintained substantially at the pressure level of the opening pressure p o of the inlet valve.
Particularly preferably, the low-pressure accumulator has a volume which can be increased against a spring force. Due to the spring force, a defined minimum pressure can be exerted on the volume stored in the low-pressure accumulator, which can rest against the input of the high-pressure pump. The spring force is in particular progressively increasing with an increasing volume, so that the spring force gradually decreases with a reducing storage volume. This makes it possible to store a certain minimum volume of the low-pressure accumulator at the level of an opening pressure of an inlet valve of the high-pressure pump. Particularly preferably, the spring force at maximum volumes of the low-pressure accumulator provides a accumulator pressure p s which is greater than the opening pressure p o of the inlet valve of the high-pressure pump. With the help of the spring force, the low-pressure accumulator can pump fuel from the low-pressure accumulator into a piston / cylinder unit of the high-pressure pump when the pump device is switched off.
Particularly preferably, the low pressure line between the transfer pump and the low-pressure accumulator on a holding valve, wherein the holding valve is configured such that the holding valve is at least temporarily open after switching off the transfer pump during a wake of the transfer pump. By holding valve is achieved that the entire capacity of the transfer pump can be used even after switching off the pump device to fill the low-pressure accumulator and / or the piston / cylinder unit of the high pressure pump with fuel at the highest possible pressure level. Here, the knowledge is exploited that even after switching off the pumping device, the torque of the pumping station of the transfer pump is sufficient to promote some fluid, especially diesel fuel. In particular, the holding valve may be designed in the form of a volumetric flow control valve, which is mechanically driven, for example, by an electromagnetic actuator, wherein the electromagnetic actuator is controlled by an electronic control unit. The flow control valve allows a continuous adjustment of the throttle cross-section between the transfer pump of the high pressure pump to adjust the high pressure pump supplied fuel flow to the respective capacity of the high pressure pump.
The invention further relates to an injection system for injecting fuel into an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle with a pumping device, which may be formed and further developed as described above and which is connected to a common rail injection line. By arranged between the transfer pump and the high-pressure pump low-pressure accumulator, a sufficient volume of fuel can be stored at a sufficiently high pressure level, so that the high-pressure pump can be fed from the low-pressure accumulator during the startup of the transfer pump after switching on the pumping device, without an additional in the Fuel tank arranged Intankpumpe to increase the space requirement significantly. Particularly in a start-stop situation, the common-rail injection line can provide an operating pressure sufficient for the fuel injection immediately after the start of the motor vehicle.
The invention further relates to a method for operating a pump device, which may be formed and further developed in particular as described above, for a fuel injection system of a motor vehicle. The method comprises the steps of compressing a fluid to a low pressure by means of a transfer pump, storing the fluid with the low pressure in a low pressure accumulator on a reservoir pressure and pressurizing a high pressure pump to compress the low pressure fluid with the fluid from the low pressure accumulator after turning off the Transfer pump on. By arranged between the transfer pump and the high pressure pump low pressure accumulator, a sufficient volume of fuel can be stored at a sufficiently high pressure level, so that the high pressure pump can be fed from the low-pressure accumulator during the start-up phase of the transfer pump after switching on the pumping device without significantly increase the space requirement by an additional arranged in the fuel tank Intankpumpe. The method can in particular, as explained above with reference to the pumping device and be further developed.
In particular, a holding valve for opening and / or closing a low-pressure line is provided between the transfer pump and the low-pressure accumulator, wherein the holding valve is at least partially opened after switching off the transfer pump during a trailing of the transfer pump. This makes it possible to take advantage of the overrun of the transfer pump to promote fuel even after switching off the transfer pump. The low-pressure accumulator and / or a piston / cylinder unit of the high pressure pump can be supplied with fuel even after switching off the transfer pump. This allows an increased pressure level in the low pressure accumulator and / or in the piston / cylinder unit of the high pressure pump.
Preferably, the high-pressure pump has at least one inlet valve, wherein the inlet valve opens at an opening pressure p o . The high pressure pump is applied from the low-pressure accumulator with an accumulator pressure p s, the accumulator pressure p s higher immediately after the transfer pump is switched off than the opening pressure p o. The accumulator pressure p s of the low-pressure accumulator is so high immediately after switching off the transfer pump that the intake valve is kept open and a piston / cylinder unit of the high-pressure pump can be filled with fuel from the low-pressure accumulator. In particular, in a start-stop situation of the motor vehicle when the pumping device is switched off only for a short time, compared to the storage volume of the low-pressure accumulator, the leakage losses via the piston / cylinder unit of the high-pressure pump are negligible, so that a sufficient operating pressure immediately after switching on the high-pressure pump can be provided for the fuel injection system.
Advantageous embodiments of the pump device are, if applicable to the method for operating the pumping device, also to be regarded as advantageous embodiments of the method.

The compressed fuel in the low-

Between the
