Definitions
- the invention relates to a method according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a method is known from the document Griesinger D .: “Progress in 5-2-5 Matrix Systems", URL: “http://www.lexicon.com/logic7/whitepapers.asp " known.
- One possibility is to transmit the sound format with the largest number of audio channels and, if necessary, an automatic receiver-side conversion of the signal to a sound format with a lower number of audio channels (automatic downmix).
- the material can already be produced in all formats and broadcast in parallel (simulcast).
- the creation of each sound format can be done individually.
- this type of mixing requires a considerable production cost. In most cases, this requires either additional manpower, a noticeably higher amount of time or multiple equipment (eg in the case of live broadcasts). The resulting production volume is therefore difficult to carry.
- an automatic downmix can take place.
- Automatic downmixing methods can be roughly divided into active and passive methods. Active methods adapt the automatic conversion according to the starting material, whereby passive methods function independently of the signal. A known passive downmix method is based on the broadcast recommendation ITU-R BS.775 and is in FIG. 1 explained.
- the center channel lowered by - 3dB is distributed via the summation functions 10 or 20 to the left channel L and the right channel R, forming a first sum signal (output summing functions 10) and a second summation signal (output summing functions 20).
- the lowered left-to-right and left-right signals Ls and Rs are distributed via summation functions 30 or 40 to the first and second sum signals, respectively, to form the left and right channels L 0 , R 0 of the desired two-channel audio format ,
- FIG. 1 checks the properties of the audio signals to be summed up and, if necessary, corrects them to avoid unwanted sound results.
- the company Coding Technologies has proposed a downmix algorithm in which starting from the ITU downmix FIG. 1 the energy content of all summation signals in 28 frequency bands / subbands is analyzed and compared with the energy content of the five-channel audio format. In this way, increases and decreases in the energy content can be determined and compensated by amplitude corrections in the respective subbands. A tone color change by a comb filter effect can be so limited. However, the correction only makes a meaningful contribution since a completely extinguishing signal would produce an infinitely large correction factor.
- the downmix algorithm of the company Coding Technologies shifts of the phantom sound source between the resulting left and right channels of the two-channel sound format occur depending on the original position of the phantom sound sources in the five-channel source material.
- Lexicon has proposed the Logic 7 method in which, in addition to the downmix, there is also the possibility of an upmix.
- the multi-channel sound can be downmixed to both a mono and a stereo signal.
- up to eight channels can be decoded.
- the proportion of the center channel in the downmix is regulated by means of variable coefficients and adjusted with further coefficients of the components of the right-and-left and left-hech channels.
- For the left-hand channel a share of 0.91 of the left-hand channel with a share of -0.38 of the right-hand channel.
- the mixture for the legal channel takes place accordingly.
- This procedure preserves the levels of the two rear channels.
- the phase shift of 90 ° makes possible the later separation of the two rear channels from the left and right channels.
- tone color changes due to comb filter effects due to phase rotations can not be limited.
- the object of the invention is the displacement of the phantom sound sources, the change in the level difference between coherent and incoherent signal components as well as tone color changes largely compensate.
- the invention is based on the consideration, in the formation of the first (L ') and second (R') sum signal in each case perform a dynamic correction of the spectral values of overlapping time windows with k samples of the left channel (L) or right channel (R). Furthermore, during the formation of the third and fourth sum signals, in each case a dynamic correction of the spectral values of overlapping time windows takes place with k samples of the first (L ') and second (R') sum signals, respectively.
- FIG. 2 illustrated block diagram is similar in structure, as the block diagram in FIG. 1 , but with the significant difference that in the summation functions 100 and 200 for forming the first and second sum signals L 'and R', and in the summation functions 300 and 400 for forming the left and right signals L IRT and R IRT of the two-channel audio format in addition for the summation an analysis and correction 1-4 takes place.
- the level reduction of the center signal C, as well as the Kireten- and left-high signals Ls, Rs takes place in the block diagram 2 in According to the block diagram after FIG. 1 by, for example, 3dB by attenuation functions 50, 60, or 70. However, attenuation other than -3 dB is also conceivable, in particular depending on the genre or content of the five-channel source signal.
- the functional structure of the analysis and correction blocks 100, 200, 300, 400 in FIG. 2 is for block 100 based on the FIG. 3 , for the block 200 based on the FIG. 4 , for the block 300 using the FIG. 5 and for the block 400 on the basis of FIG. 6 explained.
- the in FIG. 3 block 100 initially provides for a transformation of the input-side links or center signal L or C into spectral values, for example by means of an FFT 101.
- the formed spectral values l (k), c (k) are added in the summing function 102.
- the magnitude sum S l (k) of the spectral values is then evaluated in the decision diamond 103 as to whether it is greater than a set value A soll, l (k).
- the setpoint A Soll, l (k) is determined to A should .
- l k l k 2 + c k 2
- decision diamond 103 converts the level-matched signal l '(k) to either m l (k) * l (k) + c (k) or A ref, l (k) + (
- the in FIG. 4 block 200 initially provides for a transformation of the input-side right or center signals R or C into spectral values, for example by means of an FFT 201.
- the formed spectral values r (k), c (k) are added in the summing function 202.
- the magnitude sum S r (k) of the spectral values is then evaluated in the decision diamond 203 as to whether it is greater than a setpoint value A Soll, r (k).
- the setpoint A set, r (k) is determined to A should .
- r k r k 2 + c k 2
- the level-matched signal r '(k) becomes either m r (k) * r (k) + c (k) or A target, r (k) + (
- the in FIG. 5 block 300 provides for the first transformation of the input-side left-high signal or first sum signal Ls or L 'into spectral values, for example by means of an FFT 301.
- the formed spectral values ls (k), l '(k) are added in the summing function 302.
- the magnitude sum S ls (k) of the spectral values is then evaluated in the decision diamond 304 as to whether it is greater than a setpoint A Soll, ls (k).
- the setpoint A set, ls (k) is determined to A should .
- ls k ls k 2 + l' k 2
- the signal l IRT A should . ls k + ls k + l' k - A should . ls k * n formed, where n is a factor greater than 0.1 and less than 0.4. If the absolute value sum is not greater than the nominal value A Soll, ls (k), then in block 305 the spectral values l '(k) of the first sum signal are weighted by the factor m ls (k). The factor m ls (k) is greater than one and serves as well as the aforementioned factor n for level matching.
- decision diamond 303 converts the level-matched signal into either m ls (k) * l '(k) + ls (k) or A set, ls (k) + (
- the in FIG. 6 block 400 provided initially provides for a transformation of the input-side left-high signal or second sum signal Rs or R 'into spectral values, for example by means of an FFT 401.
- the formed spectral values rs (k), r '(k) are added in the summing function 402.
- the magnitude sum S rs (k) of the spectral values is then evaluated in decision diamond 403 as to whether it is greater than a setpoint value A Soll, rs (k).
- the setpoint A setpoint, rs (k) is determined to be A should .
- rs k rs k 2 + r ' k 2
- the absolute value sum is not greater than the set value A setpoint, rs (k)
- the spectral values r '(k) of the first sum signal are weighted by the factor m rs (k).
- the factor m rs (k) is greater than one and serves as well as the aforementioned factor n for level matching.
- the product m rs (k) * r '(k) is added to the spectral values rs (k) of the right-hand channel (m rs (k) * r' (k) + rs (k)).
