Description

It relates more particularly to an improvement of this type of device, and also relates to a ski equipped with it.

It is known to realize the body of the ski thanks to a more or less flexible structure.

We already know different types of ski and there are many variants. These are constituted by an elongated beam whose front end is curved upwards to form a spatula, the rear end being also more lightly to form the heel.

Current skis generally have a composite structure in which different materials are combined so that each one of them intervenes in an optimal way, taking into account the distribution of the mechanical stresses during the use of the ski. Thus, the structure generally comprises peripheral protection elements, internal resistance elements to withstand bending and twisting stresses, and a core. These elements are assembled by gluing or injection, the assembly being generally performed hot in a mold having the final shape of the ski, with a front part strongly raised spatula, a rear part slightly raised in heel, a central part arched .

Despite the concern of the manufacturers to make skis of good quality, they have not, so far, found a satisfactory high performance ski in all conditions of use.

Current skis have a number of disadvantages and in particular, that of the bad behavior during oscillations due to vibrations or flexions of the ski. Indeed, the persistent vibrations cause a loss of grip and therefore, a bad driving of the ski. It is therefore very important to dampen the vibrations, so solutions have already been proposed. Note for example the solutions proposed in the patent applications DE 29709403 , EP 521 272 , EP 733,386 . But these damping devices have only effects quite minor and imperceptible to the skier.

The document DE 29709403 discloses a gliding board with damping means constituted by a tunnel in which a friction piston is free to slide. The friction piston may be constituted by a parallelepiped or by cylindrical rods. In both cases, the friction piston has a thickness that is greater than one third of the total thickness of the ski. This great thickness of the friction elements with respect to the total thickness of the ski induces a significant modification of ski characteristics, and in particular flexural and torsional characteristics. On the other hand, the excessive thickness of the damping means with respect to the total thickness of the ski makes them close to the neutral fiber of the ski. When a beam is subjected to bending upwards, the upper part of the beam is subjected to compression stresses, while the lower part of the beam is subjected to tensile stresses. The neutral fiber of this beam corresponds to a dummy surface grouping all the points of the beam which are not subject to traction or compression. Means for damping a gliding board will be more effective than they will be away from the neutral fiber thereof. In the case of the ski described in DE 29709403 this characteristic is far from present.

The document EP 521 272 describes a ski with damping means constituted by a flexion blade connected to the ski by friction means. Such a system has many drawbacks, and in particular those induced by the fact that it is a device outside the ski. The installation of this device is mainly after the main manufacture of the ski, that is to say after the injection or molding of the ski. On the other hand, the establishment on the outer face of the ski greatly hampers the decoration of the latter and in particular limits the possibilities of design, exterior look of the ski.

The document EP 733,386 describes a ski with damping means consisting of several lamellae placed one on the other. The damping device is a device independent of the rest of the ski, consisting of a closed box in which are stacked the lamellae and the friction layers, which box is inserted between the upper reinforcement and the top of the ski, that is to say say the protective and decorative layer. This is again a damping device that will significantly alter the mechanical characteristics of the ski because it is heavy and thick.

The document EP 966 992 describes a ski whose edges are equipped with filtering elements whose objective is to dampen only the parasitic vibrations that propagate between the edges and the top of the ski. These filter elements are made of flexible material and work by compression.

The present invention seeks to overcome the various disadvantages mentioned above and proposes a particularly simple, effective and reliable solution to vibration damping problems.

The object of the invention is also to provide a gliding board equipped with friction damping means, which damping means are simple and inexpensive to the extent that they can be integrated into the ski directly during the race. injection phase of the latter.

The damping means according to the invention are particularly effective because they act on a large portion of the length of the gliding board and because they are distant, as much as possible, from the neutral fiber of the gliding board, which they be placed above or below it. However, the weight added by the damping means is minimal compared to the damping they achieve and they can pass substantially unnoticed, modifying only very little mechanical characteristics of the gliding board. Moreover, since they are placed under the first upper reinforcement, or on the first lower reinforcement, they are completely integrated into the structure and have no effect on the outer shape of the ski.

The gliding board 1 shown at figure 1 is a ski 2 provided for the practice of alpine skiing. The ski 2 is constituted by an elongated beam having its own distribution of thickness, width and therefore its own stiffness. It comprises a central part on which are fixed safety fasteners 3, which are formed in a known manner by a forward stop and a rear heel piece. In known manner, the ski has in the center of this central zone a line passing through it in a transverse direction or a marker called "shoe center" (MC). The "middle of the shoe" is a help provided by the ski manufacturer facilitating for the user, or the professional who mounts the bindings, the positioning of these at the most suitable place on the ski. The middle of the shoe (MC) represents the point of the ski which in correspondence of which is the center of the shoe. A corresponding landmark is also mentioned on alpine ski boots or ski touring boots.

The front tip of the ski 2 is raised to form the spatula 25. The rear tip of the ski 2 can also be raised to form the heel 26. Between the central zone 24 and the spatula is defined what is generally called the front of the 27, while between the central zone 24 and the heel 26 is defined what is called the back of the ski 28. When the ski is placed on a flat surface, the two points of support of it against this flat surface are called the forward contact point (Pca) and the heel contact point (Pct).

The ski is therefore characterized by the following dimensions: the total length L measured between the rear tip of the ski to the front tip, the spatula length Ls measured between the point of contact before (Pca) and the front tip of the ski, the heel length Lt measured between the back tip of the ski and the heel contact point (Pct), the front contact length (Lca) measured between the middle of the boot and the point of contact with the front, and the heel contact length (Lct) measured between the heel contact point and the shoe center (MC).

De même, d'autre type de construction sont également possible, ski à coque autoporteuse, ski à caisson, etc.....The ski 2 shown in Figures 1 to 4 is a ski called "sandwich" construction. It is constituted in known manner by an intermediate structure 31 placed between a lower subassembly 5 and an upper subassembly 9. The intermediate structure 31 comprises a main core 13 flanked by side edges 14. In the example shown here, the main core is made of wood and the side edges are made of ABS plastic material. Of course other materials are also conceivable within the scope of the invention. Similarly, other types of construction are also possible, self-supporting ski, box ski, etc. .....

Entre le premier renfort supérieur 11 et le deuxième renfort supérieur 12 est placé un noyau secondaire 15.The lower subassembly 5 comprises a sliding sole 7, a first lower reinforcement 8, a second lower reinforcement 23 and two edges 6 placed on each side of the gliding sole 7. The upper sub-assembly 9 is constituted by a layer 10, also called the top of the ski, a first upper reinforcement 11 and a second upper reinforcement 12. Between the first upper reinforcement 11 and the second upper reinforcement 12 is placed a secondary core 15.

According to the invention, friction damping means 16 are placed inside the structure of the gliding board, near the first upper reinforcement 11 and under the latter. In other words, the damping means are placed between the neutral fiber and the first upper reinforcement 11. In the first embodiment of the invention, these means are placed between the first upper reinforcement 11 and the second upper reinforcement. 12. These friction damping means comprise a blade 17 wrapped in a sleeve 18 and placed in contact with the first upper reinforcement 11.

The damping means 16 are integrally embedded inside the structure of the ski over their entire length LMA. The complete integration of the damping means in the structure makes them completely impervious to the infiltration of any element (water, dust, etc ........) that can damage the operation. The damping means may be completely hidden at the sight of the user of the ski, but it will be possible to provide translucent means at the core 13 and / or the upper subassembly 9, and / or the subset lower 5 so as to provide vision windows. These viewing windows will allow the user to see all or some portions of damping means.

Another way to make visible the damping means will be to arrange them so that only part of them is embedded inside the structure. In this case, however, it will be necessary that a large part of the length Lma damping means is embedded in the structure of the ski and that sealing means are provided to prevent dust and water from entering the structure. inside the ski structure.

Et ce, même si le fourreau se retrouve quant à lui fixé solidairement au renfort, et au noyau secondaire 15.The figure 2 represents the ski according to the first embodiment of the invention in top view, partially cut so as to show the positioning of the damping means, that is to say of the blade 17 and its sheath 18. As can be seen the blade 17 extends over a large majority of the length of the ski. In fact, the blade extends from the proximity of the heel contact point to the proximity of the forward contact point (Pca). The sheath 18 comprises two portions called front sheaths 32, rear 33. The two portions of the sheath 18 are not contiguous and leave in the center of the ski a portion of the blade uncovered, that is to say not wrapped by the sheath 18. During manufacture of the ski, the zone of the blade which is not enveloped by the sheath 18 and which is thus directly in contact with the first upper reinforcement 11 will be completely attached to the latter and this in solidarity with the ski in the central area of it. On the other hand, the portions of the blade 17 which are wrapped in the sheath 18 will retain their sliding capacity inside the sheath. And this, even if the sheath found itself fixed integrally to the reinforcement, and the secondary core 15.

According to the invention the portion of the blade, which is fixed relative to the ski, that is to say the anchoring zone 19, must be in a range of length 600 mm centered on the middle shoe (MC) preferably in a range of 200 mm centered on the middle of the shoe.

An unrepresented variant of the first embodiment of the invention consists in replacing the anchoring zone 19 by a mechanical anchorage made by a rivet, a screw or a point crossing the blade. In this variant, the blade 17 is entirely wrapped in a sheath 18, which does not have any interruption in the central portion. However, the sheath and the blade are drilled at the anchoring zone and the drilling cooperates with mechanical anchoring means rendering the blade integral with the rest of the ski in the central area of the ski.

According to the invention, the damping means extend over a large length of the front portion of the ski, and / or the rear portion thereof. In the first embodiment, the damping means extend to the front and to the rear. If we consider the ski's rear tip as the origin of the length measurements, the front end of the blade is below the point of contact before (Pca) at the front of the ski, in a range of length (Ba) equal at 20% of the front contact length (Lca). The rear end of the blade is beyond the heel contact point (Pct) within a range of length (Bt) equal to 20% of the heel contact length (Lct).

Under these conditions, the area in which the energy generated by the vibrations of the ski is damped by friction is concentrated in the front of the ski 27, approaching the point of contact before (Pca) without extending into the spatula. In particular, this is one of the reasons that with a board of glide according to the invention, we obtain a good compromise between a good vibration damping and a relatively nervous reactive behavior; that is to say, a gliding board which although the vibrations are damped does not have an amorphous behavior.

In the example shown in the first embodiment, the length of the ski is approximately equal to 1700 mm, the boot medium (MC) is placed at 727 mm from the rear tip of the ski. The spatula has a length of 170 mm and the point of contact before Pca is located at a distance of 1530 mm from the rear tip of the ski. Thus the front contact length (Lca) is equal to 803 mm (1700-727-170) and the front end of the blade is positioned in the area defined by the following dimensions: 1409 mm and 1530 mm.

With regard to the rear part, the length of the heel (Lt) is equal to 70 mm, so the heel contact length (Lct) is 757 mm. The rear end of the blade is in the area defined by the following dimensions: 70 mm to 168.5 mm.

Instead of having a single blade running the length of the ski, you can of course have two blades, one at the front, the other at the back, each wrapped in a sheath and having their portion in the central zone of the ski out of the sheath so as to anchor against the first upper reinforcement.

In the first embodiment of the invention, the damping means comprise a single metal blade made of a steel or aluminum type material whose thickness is between 0.4 mm and 0.7 mm. In practice, a blade 0.5 mm and about 12 mm wide was chosen.

The sheath 18 is made of a sheath made of a polyester fiber braid coated on its outer surface with polyurethane resin. You can also take a sheath made of a paper coated with silicone. The means may possibly be made with a blade which would be coated over most of its length with a material preventing the bonding and adhesion with the resin of the upper reinforcement. This material, like the sheath, would have the function of preventing the blade from joining with the rest of the ski on all the portions thereof other than the anchoring zone 19.

The sizing of the blade, length and width is precisely defined by the desired friction properties. To do this, a test is made evaluating the sliding force required for a blade in a sheath, the sheath and the blade being previously placed in a test tube.

The Figures 10 and 11 show a specimen 35 for the evaluation test. This consists of a stack of glass fabrics pre-impregnated with resin. On each side of the sheath, three layers of tissue (300x45 mm) are placed. Above and below, this stack is enveloped by larger layers (300x100 mm). The sheath is 360 mm long, it protrudes on each side of the stack and is made of the material that is to be evaluated. The blade is longer than the sheath to provide a grip to perform the tensile test.

Once the stack is made, it is placed in a laminating press, the firing cycle is carried out with a temperature and a time determined according to the prepreg chosen, then the specimen is allowed to stabilize for at least 24 hours. . After this time, we perform 4 pulls on the blade back and forth so as to break the system.

The test phase, strictly speaking, takes place on a traction machine, the specimen being attached to it. The slide is slid so as to leave only 200 mm inside the test piece. The blade is then pulled by measuring the force required to slide the blade 30 mm. The reading of the average value gives an evaluation of the friction of the blade in the sheath.

To obtain satisfactory damping in the normal conditions of use of a gliding board, such as an alpine ski, the blade will be dimensioned, so that the average value of the force required for sliding is between 20 N and 80 N, preferably between 40 N and 60 N.

The slip test makes it possible to choose the dimensions of the blade, or blades, so as to obtain optimal damping of the gliding board under the conditions of use. For a blade having a thickness of between 0.4 mm and 1 mm, a blade having a width of between 6 mm and 30 mm is chosen. In the case where several blades are placed side by side, the thickness of the blade is consequently reduced so that the sum of their width is between 6 mm and 30 mm.

The blade 17 is fixed by its central portion to the first upper reinforcement 11 during the stratification of the ski. Indeed, the first upper reinforcement 11 is made of fiberglass fabric pre-impregnated with resin. During lamination, the upper face of the blade which is not enveloped by the sheath will be bonded to the first upper reinforcement 11 with the resin. In the case where the upper reinforcement is a metal reinforcement, for example in aluminum, we can provide a glue film to ensure the joining of the blade with the upper reinforcement. In the case where, as we shall see below, the damping means are not directly in contact with the upper reinforcement, but only in the vicinity of the latter, it is possible to provide means for anchoring the blade with the core.

In the first embodiment of the invention, the damping means are above the neutral fiber. Therefore, when bending upwards of the front and rear tips of the ski, the ends of the blade will tend to get closer to the ski tips. For this to happen, expansion spaces have been provided to accommodate the ends of the blade.

These expansion spaces are shown to figures 2 and 4 . It can be seen that the front and rear ends of the blade are wrapped in a cap 22 of flexible material. The material of the cap 22, preferably an elastomer, has a hardness of less than 60 Shore A. Thus, the front and rear ends of the blade can work its way into the cap 22, without the latter exerting too much resistance . For proper operation of the damping means, it is important that the wrapping of the blade 17 by the sleeve 18 and the cap 22 is continuous, without any portion of the blade 17 is found exposed in contact with the resin upper reinforcement. In practice, the cap is arranged in such a way that it also covers the end of the sheath.

Each of the caps 22 is constituted by a parallelepiped of slightly greater section than the section of the sleeve 18. The cap is split to facilitate the penetration of the blade 17. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the caps are made of a material transparent, or translucent, and a window is made in the first upper reinforcement so as to make the ends of the blade visible from the outside of the ski. It is then possible to visually demonstrate the movement of the ends of the blade during bending. In normal use, the ends of the blade have a stroke of between 1 mm and 3 mm. To make more visible the movement of the ends of the blade, they are cut along a line oblique to the longitudinal axis.

The damping means is an addition of weight less than 100 g for a ski length 1700 mm, which represents a very limited weight given their effectiveness, in particular due to the fact that they act on a greater proportion of the length ski.

The figure 5 shows a perspective view in section of the ski according to a second embodiment of the invention. It is like in the previous mode of a so-called sandwich construction ski. It is constituted in known manner by an intermediate structure 31 placed between a lower subassembly 5 and an upper subassembly 9. The intermediate structure 31 comprises a main core 13 flanked by side edges 14. The upper subassembly 9 is constituted by a protective layer 10, also called the top of the ski, a first upper reinforcement 11 and a second upper reinforcement 12.

As in the previous embodiment, the damping means are placed between the first upper reinforcement 11 and the second upper reinforcement 12. On the other hand, unlike the previous mode, the two upper reinforcements are placed one on the other , leaving between them only sufficient space for the establishment of damping means 16. These consist of a blade 17 secured to the upper reinforcements in the central area of the ski and slidable in a sleeve 18 .

The sleeve 18 is made by wrapping the blade in a silicone paper. It is a sheet of paper coated with silicone at 80 g / m 2 . The sheath wraps the blade over most of its length, leaving only the central portion of the sheath exposed. The central portion of the blade is secured between the second upper reinforcement 12, which is an aluminum plate, and the first upper reinforcement 11, which is constituted by a sheet of fiber fabrics impregnated with resin.

The figures 6 and 7 show a third embodiment of the invention wherein the damping means are constituted by two blades arranged substantially parallel. Preferably, each of the blades is disposed substantially parallel to the side line adjacent thereto. The ski 2 comprises a lower sub-assembly 5, a core 13 and an upper sub-assembly 9. The upper sub-assembly 9 is constituted by a protective layer 10, also called the top of the ski, a first upper reinforcement 11 and a second upper reinforcement 12. Between the first upper reinforcement 11 and the second upper reinforcement 12 is placed a secondary core 15. Longitudinal housings are formed in the secondary core 15 to receive the damping means.

We can choose blades right and left strictly identical or having different characteristics. This latter possibility will make it possible to manufacture pairs of non-symmetrical ski, that is to say having a left ski different from the right ski.

The figure 8 shows a fourth embodiment of the invention in which the damping means are placed in the main core near the first upper reinforcement 11. In this embodiment, the damping means 16 comprise a blade 17 completely wrapped in a sheath 18 in all its length. The blade and its sheath are pierced in their central portion. During the manufacture of the ski, the components of the ski, including the damping means but excluding the core, are placed in the mold, then the material of the main core 13 (for example PU) is injected. A spacer system (not shown) ensures, before the injection of the core, the correct positioning of the damping means with respect to the first upper reinforcement 11. The proper positioning of the damping means is that in which the distance separating them from the first lower reinforcement is less than 4 times the thickness of said blade. In the example shown, the blade has a thickness of 0.5 mm, so that the damping means are placed in such a way that the distance separating the upper surface of the sheath from the lower face of the lower reinforcement is less than 2 mm.

The damping means will be anchored to the ski during hardening of the core thanks to the material of the core which traps them. In particular, the blade will be anchored at its central portion to the core through the material that has penetrated into the borehole therein.

The figure 9 shows a fifth embodiment of the invention. The gliding board is a ski called sandwich structure. It consists of a lower subassembly 5, comprising a first lower reinforcement 8, a second lower reinforcement 23, a sliding sole 7 and a pair of edges 6; an upper subassembly 9 having a top 10 and a first upper reinforcement 11; as well as a single main core 13.

The core 13 is made of wood. In the lower part of the latter, a trench is made that can receive the damping means 16. The damping means 16 are placed in contact with the first lower reinforcement 8. They comprise, as in the first embodiment, a blade 17 extending over a major part of the length of the ski and a sleeve 18 having a front sheath and a rear sheath. The two sheaths are disjointed so as to leave in the center an uncovered blade portion which is fixed to the structure of the ski by gluing during the polymerization of the resin of the first lower reinforcement 8.

In the fifth embodiment, the damping means are located above the first lower reinforcement and below the neutral fiber, and in particular further away from the latter, to ensure maximum efficiency.

The invention is not limited to the few embodiments described herein by way of example, and encompasses any equivalent embodiment, such as the claims claimed.
