B e s c h r e i b u n gDescription
The present invention relates to a multilayer metal bellows according to the term of claim 1, in particular as a flexible conduit member for automotive applications, with at least two metal layers, namely an inner layer and an outer layer surrounding the inner layer.
Furthermore, the present invention relates to various methods for producing a multilayer metal bellows.
In particular, in motor vehicles with internal combustion engine, but also in internal combustion engines in general and in large engines, stationary engines and gas turbine engines are used for decoupling oscillations or for receiving relative movements regularly metal bellows. If in this context high pressures occur and still sufficient mobility should be ensured high mobility, multi-layer bellows are used, the walls are formed accordingly from a plurality of substantially mutually parallel metal layers.
Aus gleichem Grund können Bälge aus aushärtbaren Werkstoffen (1.4564, 1.4568, 2.4667, 2.4668), bei denen in der Wärmebehandlung Temperaturen von über 600 0C benötigt werden, nach dem Stand der Technik nur einwandig ausgeführt werden.600 when such bellows temperatures 0 C excluded sets are larger over time, may occur between the layers selectively diffusion bonding, whereby the functional properties of the multilayer bellows change (eg. As the spring rate). In addition, local stress concentrations occur, which can lead to failure of the bellows. For the same reason bellows made of curable materials (1.4564, 1.4568, 2.4667, 2.4668), in which temperatures of over 600 0 C are required in the heat treatment, according to the prior art can only be performed single-walled.
The invention has for its object to prevent diffusion bonds between the layers of multilayer bellows when exposed to said high temperatures to ensure a constancy of the functional properties of the bellows and counteract failures. Furthermore, the considerable strength and service life potential of hardenable materials should also be developed for multilayer bellows.
Furthermore, the invention has for its object to provide a number of methods for producing a bellows according to the invention.
The invention solves the problems by means of a multilayer metal bellows with the features of patent claim 1 and by means of a method for producing a multilayer bellows with the features of claim 9, claim 10 or claim 11.
Advantageous developments of the invention are the subject of subclaims, the wording of which is hereby included by express reference in the description in order to avoid unnecessary text repetitions.
According to the invention, a multilayer metal bellows, in particular as a flexible conduit element for motor vehicle applications, with at least two metal layers, namely an inner layer and an outer layer surrounding the inner layer, characterized in that between the inner layer and the outer layer at least in sections of the bellows at least one intermediate layer in shape a diffusion barrier is arranged for the inner layer material and / or for the outer layer material.
A first method according to the invention for producing a multilayer bellows is characterized in that a metal tube which is one of the talllagen of the bellows is to form, before forming at least on its passing with the other metal layer in contact lateral surface is provided with a coating forming the intermediate layer.
Another inventive method for producing a multilayer bellows is characterized in that first a first metal tube is formed to the outer layer of the bellows, then that the outer layer is provided on the inside with an intermediate layer forming coating and then that a second metal tube within the outer layer to the Inner layer is formed. In this case, the second metal tube may also have been suitably coated prior to forming.
A further method according to the invention for producing a multilayer bellows is characterized in that first the outer layer and the inner layer of the bellows are formed and subsequently the intermediate layer between the outer layer and the inner layer is produced.
Combinations of the abovementioned process configurations according to the invention are also possible.
In order to prevent the occurrence of diffusion bonding in multilayer metal bellows, according to the invention, it is therefore proposed to form diffusion barriers between metal layers of the bellows. In this connection, different types of diffusion barriers or intermediate layers are possible, which moreover can each be limited to partial sections of the bellows:
A first development of the metal bellows according to the invention provides that the intermediate layer is formed as an oxide layer. In particular, the intermediate layer in this context may be a Cr oxide layer.
Another development of the metal bellows according to the invention provides that the intermediate layer is formed as a further metal bellows, however is formed from a relative to the other metal layers oxidation-resistant material.
Alternatively or additionally, the intermediate layer may also be formed as a tungsten or titanium / tungsten layer, which is applied in particular by sputtering on the inner layer and / or the outer layer of the bellows.
In another embodiment of the metal bellows according to the invention, the intermediate layer can also be formed from in particular galvanically deposited chromium or nickel.
Another development of the metal bellows according to the invention provides that the intermediate layer is formed from at least one in particular chemically deposited nickel alloy. As nickel alloys in this context in particular nickel-phosphorus, nickel-phosphorus-tungsten or iron-nickel-phosphorus alloys in question, especially in nanocrystalline form, that is with a particle size in the nanometer range.
Alternatively or additionally, the intermediate layer may also be formed as an intermetallic iron-zinc phase, which is obtained in particular by hot-dip galvanizing.
Another embodiment of the metal bellows according to the invention provides that the intermediate layer is formed as a carbonitride, nitride or boride boundary layer. Preferred embodiments in this context include iron carbonitride, iron nitride or iron boride edge straighteners, which are produced in particular by nitriding or boriding in a salt bath.
As already mentioned, different material combinations can be used to form the intermediate layer. For example, in the case of a three-layer bellows, the middle layer (intermediate layer) may consist of a material which is more resistant to oxidation, for example material 2.4856, compared to material 1.4571 for the outer and inner layer. Another development of the metal bellows according to the invention provides that materials curable for the outer layer and / or for the inner layer of the bellows (eg 2.4668, 2.4667, 1.4564 or 1.4568) are used in order to achieve the spring behavior of the bellows To influence Balgs in a targeted way. With the use of hardenable materials of the abovementioned type, the special problem conventionally arises that the materials already diffuse during the thermal curing during the production of the bellows. The provision according to the invention of a diffusion-inhibiting intermediate layer helps to avoid this particular problem, so that the economically feasible production of multi-layer metal bellows made of hardenable material is consequently also made possible in the context of the present invention.
As the skilled artisan will readily appreciate, the present invention is not limited to multilayer bellows having only one inner and one outer layer and a single intermediate layer, but is generally expandable to multilayer metal bellows having any number of metal layers and a corresponding number of intermediate layers. The intermediate layers can each be formed on only one of two metallic surfaces in contact, or they can be formed on both metal surfaces in contact or even as an independent intermediate layer, as described above by way of example.
Es zeigt:Further features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of exemplary embodiments with reference to the drawing. It shows:

Figure 1 shows a multilayer metal bellows 1, as it is used in particular as a flexible conduit member for automotive applications, for example as a decoupling element in exhaust systems, as an expansion body in the manifold area or the like. The multilayer bellows 1 has at least two metallic bellows layers, namely an inner layer 2 and an outer layer 3, the outer layer 3 surrounding the inner layer 2.
However, as the person skilled in the art will appreciate, the multilayer metal bellows 1 according to the present invention is not limited to the presence of exactly one inner layer 2 and one outer layer 3; rather, the bellows can also be configured as a much-walled bellows and correspondingly have more metallic bellows layers, which in the present case is not explicitly shown for reasons of clarity.
Between the inner layer 2 and the outer layer 3, an intermediate layer 4 in the form of a diffusion barrier is arranged or formed, which separates the material of the inner layer 2 and the material of the outer layer 3 diffusion-preventing each other.
According to the illustration in FIG. 1, the intermediate layer 4 is formed over its entire surface between the inner layer 2 and the outer layer 3 of the multilayer bellows 1, without the present invention being restricted thereto. Rather, alternatively, it can also be provided that the intermediate layer 4 is provided only in Teilabschnit- th of the bellows 1 between the inner layer 2 and the outer layer 3.
The inner layer 2 and the outer layer 3 are usually metal bellows layers of the same material, in particular steel, preferably with the same material thickness d, where d may be 0.3 mm, for example.
The intermediate layer 4 serves - as already stated - as a diffusion barrier and is intended to prevent it during operation when high temperatures in the range of about 600 0 C to a selective welding of inner layer 2 and outer layer 3 of the bellows 1 comes. For this purpose, the intermediate layer 4 may be formed, for example, as an oxide layer, in particular as chromium oxide (Cr oxide). The layer thickness d 'of the intermediate layer 4 may be greater than or equal to 1 μm in this context.
In the course of another embodiment, the intermediate layer 4 may also be formed as another metal bellows, which is formed correspondingly relative to the inner layer 2 and / or the outer layer 3 of a more oxidation-resistant material.
Alternatively, the intermediate layer 4 may also be formed as a tungsten or titanium / tungsten layer, which is applied in particular by sputtering and whose layer thickness d 1 is a few micrometers (μm).
In the course of another embodiment, the intermediate layer 4 is formed in particular of electrodeposited chromium or nickel.
Another embodiment provides that the intermediate layer is formed from at least one in particular chemically deposited nickel alloy, which preferably has a grain size s in the nanocrystalline range, that is 1 nm <s ≦ 1000 nm. In this context, use can be made in particular of nickel-phosphorus , Nickel-phosphorous-tungsten or iron-nickel-phosphorus alloys.
Alternatively, the intermediate layer 4 may also be formed as an intermetallic iron-zinc phase, as it is obtainable in particular by hot-dip galvanizing, in which context a complete conversion of zinc is required.
In the context of a non-exhaustive list is also possible that the intermediate layer 4 is formed as a carbonitride, nitride or boride surface layer, in particular as Eisencarbonitrid-, iron nitride or Eisenborid- layer, wherein the corresponding edge layer in particular by nitriding or boriding is produced in the salt bath.

Die Figuren 2 bis 4 zeigen schematisch verschiedene Verfahren zur Herstellung des mehrlagigen Metallbalgs 1 gemäß Figur 1.8th FIGS. 2 to 4 schematically show various methods for producing the multilayer metal bellows 1 according to FIG. 1.
Der Beschichtungsvorgang selbst ist in Figur 2 mittels Pfeilen P1 (für die äußere Mantelfläche 5b) bzw. mittels Pfeilen P2 (für die innere Mantelfläche 5a) symbolisiert.2 shows a smooth-cylindrical metal tube 5, from which one of the metal layers 2, 3 (cf., FIG. 1) of the multilayer metal bellows is formed by forming. 2, the metal tube 5 is provided with a sufficiently ductile coating, at least on one of its lateral surfaces 5a, 5b, before forming, which forms the intermediate layer 4 (see FIG. Whether the inner lateral surface 5a or the outer lateral surface 5b is coated in particular depends in particular on whether the metal tube 5 should subsequently be used as the inner layer 2 or as the outer layer 3 of the metal bellows 1 (see FIG. Consequently, in the case of using the metal tube 5 as the inner layer, its outer circumferential surface 5b is coated, whereas when the metal tube 5 is used as the outer layer, the inner lateral surface 5a is coated. The coating process itself is symbolized in FIG. 2 by means of arrows P1 (for the outer lateral surface 5b) or by means of arrows P2 (for the inner lateral surface 5a).
After coating P1, P2, the metal tube 5 is reshaped and used as the inner or outer layer of the multilayer metal bellows 1 according to FIG. When using the metal bellows as the inner layer, the forming expediently takes place only after introduction of the metal tube 5 into the already formed outer layer, which is known per se to the person skilled in the art.
Figur 1 ) auszubilden. Der Beschichtungsvorgang selbst ist in Figur 3 mit- tels Pfeilen P3 symbolisiert.FIG. 3 shows an alternative embodiment of the method for producing the multilayer metal bellows 1 according to FIG. 1. As shown in FIG. 1, first the forming process for forming the outer layer 3 is carried out, which is subsequently coated on its inner side in order to form the intermediate layer 4 (see FIG 1) train. The coating process itself is symbolized in FIG. 3 by means of arrows P3.
Subsequently, an optionally coated plain tube according to FIG. 2 is introduced into the already formed outer layer 3 according to FIG. 3 and formed there for the purpose of producing the inner layer, which is not explicitly illustrated in FIG. Finally, FIG. 4 shows a further method for producing the multilayer metal bellows 1 according to FIG. 1. According to the representation in FIG. 4, first the inner layer 2 and the outer layer 3 are bellows-shaped, and subsequently the intermediate layer 4, which in FIG is shown produced directly between the inner layer 2 and the outer layer 3, which is symbolized by the arrow P4, for example by oxidation in the area between the inner layer 2 and outer layer 3. It should be noted that in Figure 4, the distance between the inner layer 2 and outer layer. 3 For reasons of illustration, it is markedly exaggerated.
In this way, the multilayer metal bellows 1 according to Figure 1 between its inner layer 2 and its outer layer 3 serving as a diffusion barrier for the respective layer material intermediate layer 4, so that it is in Verwen düng the metal bellows 1 even at high temperatures to no welding of the bellows and a correspondingly limited usability of the entire bellows comes.
In addition, the intermediate layer 4 allows the use of hardenable materials for producing multilayer metal bellows.
