Definitions
- the present invention generally relates to a slider mechanism for opening and closing a portable terminal, and more particularly to a slider mechanism that can open both upwardly and downwardly.
- the slide type terminal opens and closes, while a sub-body as a cover slides on a main body. It has the same advantages as the folder type terminal and further comprises a new opening/closing performance.
- the slider mechanism for opening/closing a terminal comprises a first plate (40), a second plate (30) and a torsion spring (50).
- the first plate (40) is coupled to a main body (20) of the portable terminal, while the second plate (30) is coupled to a sliding body (10) of the portable terminal.
- the second plate (30) is mounted such that it can slide up and down on the first plate (40).
- the torsion spring (50) has an end fixed to the first plate (40), while its other end is fixed to the second plate (30).
- the torsion spring (50) becomes compressed when the second plate (30) is moved upwardly or downwardly.
- the second plate (30) then moves automatically due to an elastic force of restitution after an inflection point.
- the present invention is conceived in order to solve the above-described problems. It is an objective of the present invention to provide a slider mechanism for opening/ closing a portable terminal, which can be opened not only upwardly but also downwardly.
- a slider mechanism for opening/closing a portable terminal comprises: a first plate fixed to one of a main body and a display of the portable terminal; a second plate fixed to the other of the main body and the display, the second plate being slidably coupled to the first plate; a spring having one end coupled to the first plate and the other end coupled to the second plate; and a first stopper limiting one of an upward movement and a downward movement of the second plate, wherein a guide hole parallel to the movement of the second plate and opened to one direction is formed at the first stopper mounted on one of the first plate and the second plate, wherein a guide is formed at the other of the first plate and the second plate, and wherein the guide moves along the guide hole.
- the present invention further comprises: a second stopper limiting one of an upward movement and a downward movement of the second plate, the second stopper being formed at an upper or lower part of the second plate for contacting the first plate to limit the movement of the second plate.
- the first stopper can be mounted on the first plate and the guide hole is opened upwardly, while the guide is mounted on the second plate for limiting the downward movement of the second plate.
- the second stopper can be formed at the lower part of the second plate for limiting the upward movement of the second plate.
- the guide hole of the first stopper has a stumbling protrusion for maintaining the second plate in a stationary state without any upward or downward movement relative to the first plate.
- the spring is inclined to be fully compressed and then relaxed during the upward or downward movement of the second plate relative to the first plate.
- the stumbling protrusion is formed to limit the movement of the second plate to which an elastic force of the spring is applied.
- the present invention has the following advantageous effects.
- FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view showing a prior art slide type portable terminal.
- Fig. 2 is an exploded perspective view of a slider mechanism for opening/closing a portable terminal in one direction.
- Fig. 3 is an exploded perspective view showing the slider mechanism for opening/ closing a portable terminal in another direction.
- Fig. 4 shows an operation of the slider mechanism in a closed state.
- Fig. 5 shows an operation of the slider mechanism in an upwardly opened state.
- Fig. 6 shows an operation of the slider mechanism in a downwardly opened state.
- Fig. 7 shows a structure of a first stopper of the slider mechanism.
- FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of a slider mechanism for opening/closing a portable terminal according to one embodiment of the present invention in one direction.
- Fig. 3 is an exploded perspective view showing the slider mechanism for opening/closing a portable terminal in another direction.
- Fig. 4 shows an operation of the slider mechanism in a closed state.
- Fig. 5 shows an operation of the slider mechanism in an upwardly opened state.
- Fig. 6 shows an operation of the slider mechanism of the embodiment in a downwardly opened state.
- Fig. 7 shows a structure of a first stopper of the slider mechanism.
- a slider mechanism for opening and closing a portable terminal comprises a first plate (110), a second plate (120), springs (130), a first stopper (140) and a second stopper (150).
- the first plate (110) is mounted on a main body of a portable terminal, while the second plate (120) is mounted on a display of the portable terminal.
- the second plate (120) can slide upwardly or downwardly relative to the first plate (110).
- Guide beams (160) are mounted on both sides of the second plate (120). Both sides of the first plate (110) envelop the guide beams (160). Thus, the second plate (120) can slide relative to the first plate (110) either upwardly or downwardly.
- the springs (130) are disposed between the first plate (110) and the second plate
- each spring (130) is coupled to the first plate (110), while the other end is coupled to the second plate (120).
- the slider mechanism for opening/closing a portable terminal can become slim by using two 'M' shaped springs (130) in this embodiment.
- the springs (130) are inclined for coupling the first plate and the second plate at a closed state, while the second plate (120) has not yet been moved relative to the first plate (110).
- the springs will be compressed until both ends of each spring (130) are at the same level. If the other end is beyond such a level, then the elastic force of restitution of the compressed spring (130) will automatically move the second plate (120) upwardly.
- the first stopper (140) limits the downward movement of the second plate (120), while the second stopper (150) limits the upward movement of the second plate (120).
- the first stopper (140) is mounted on the second plate (120) and has a guide hole formed in a direction parallel to the moving direction of the second plate (120) (e.g., upward, downward, etc.).
- the guide hole (145) is opened upwardly, while a guide (125) moving along the guide hole (145) is formed at the second plate (120). At this time, the first stopper (140) can be laterally deformed by the guide (125) in the guide hole (145).
- the second stopper (150) is formed at the lower part of the second plate (120).
- the second stopper (150) contacts the first plate (110) for limiting the movement of the second plate (120).
- the second stoppers (150) are mounted on the lower parts of the guide beams (160), which are mounted on both sides of the second plate (120).
- the second stopper (150) contacts a side surface of the first plate (110) for limiting the movement of the second plate (120) after the second plate (120) is moved upwardly.
- the positions of the first stopper (140) and the second stopper can be switched with each other, while the first stopper (140) can limit the upward movement of the second plate (120) and the second stopper (150) can limit the downward movement of the second plate (150).
- the guide hole (145) of the first stopper (140) is opened downwardly and the second stopper (150) is formed at the second plate (120).
- first stopper (140) can be mounted on the second plate (120) and the guide can be formed at the first plate (110) for limiting the upward/downward movement of the second plate (120).
- a stumbling protrusion (147) is formed at the guide hole (145) of the first stopper (140) for stopping the guide (125) to prevent the second plate (120) from moving freely due to the elastic force of the spring (130). Further, the second plate (120) does not move relative to the first plate (110) (e.g., in the closed state).
- the stumbling protrusion (147) protrudes while narrowing the guide hole (145). The stumbling protrusion (147) is protruded to limit the movement of the second plate (120) tending to move due to the elastic force of the spring (130).
- the second plate (120) is disposed over the first plate (110).
- each spring (130) will be compressed until both ends of the spring (130) are at the same level. If the other end is beyond such a level, then the elastic force of restitution of the compressed spring (130) automatically moves the second plate (120) upwardly.
- the guide (125) can escape from the first stopper (140).
- the second stopper (150) which is formed at the lower side part of the second plate (120), contacts the side surface of the first plate (110) limiting the upward movement of the second plate (120) in a predetermined distance.
