Definitions
- the advantage of this solution is that micro-movements between the rigid cemented carbide insert and the relatively more elastic gripper body are possible.
- the gripper body remains flexible, bending stresses being largely kept away from the cemented carbide insert.
- the solution finds its limitations when the use is very brittle, so that it could be damaged when deforming the edge of the bag.
- the coating applied in the pocket thus forms a wear protection element, which is comparable in terms of wear protection effect to the hard metal elements used in the earlier prior art.
- the wear protection element is applied by a spraying method such as plasma spraying, flame spraying, arc spraying. It is liable by itself without the aid of auxiliaries. No solder or glue is required. Also, no subsequent mechanical machining operations, such as plastic deformation of the edge of the pocket, are required to secure the wear protection element.
- the narrow side 10 is limited seen from below a loop receiving space 12, which is bounded on the one hand by the hook-like end 7, at the top by the narrow side 10 and at the end 7 opposite side by a step 13.
- the loops 11 received by the loop receiving space 12 can be cut open, for example by a suitable knife, if cutting pile is to be produced in the course of a tufting process.
- a suitable knife is in Fig. 1 indicated by its dashed contour 14. It has on its front side a cutting edge, with the loop 11 can be cut in cooperation with the loop taker.
- the wear protection element 15 is formed by a sprayed coating which preferably completely fills the pocket 16, i. the floor 18 completely covered.
- the coating has a flush surface 5 with the flat side surface 19, which is preferably also flat.
- FIGS. 5 and 6 show variants of different embodiments of the pocket 16, the edge 17 and the wear protection element 15a, 15b.
- the edge 17 need not necessarily be formed as a steep step. He may also be formed flat leaking, such as Fig. 5 suggests.
- the surface 19 may also be slightly below the side surface 5 and connect by a rounding at its edge yet flush to the side surface 5, such as Fig. 5 also indicates.
- FIG. 7 shows another embodiment of a tool which is used for example in the manufacture of carpet with velor-like surface use.
- the tool cuts the loops produced and thus acts like a knife.
- the knife has a tool body 2, the front portion of which forms a section 3 for the processing of loops and the rear portion of which forms a holding or fastening section 4.
- the section 3 is rectangular in shape and essentially forms the extension of the fastening section 4.
- the section 3 is bounded by the flat side surfaces 5 and 6 and by the narrow sides 8 and 10 and its end 7. At the end 7, a cutting edge 20 may be formed.
- the narrow side 10 and the end 7 are connected to each other via a narrow side 23.
- the narrow side 23 is to the narrow side 10 and the end 7 at an angle to each other. The result is a recess which serves to optimize the cutting function of the tool 1, since this is arranged at an angle to the loop taker 1 in the tufting machine.
- the tool 1 is provided with a wear protection element 15, which protects or forms the special stress exposed areas of the side surface 5 of the narrow side 10 and in particular of the end 7.
- the wear element 15 is mounted in a corresponding region 22 of a corresponding pocket 16 of the main body 2.
- This pocket 16 extends as a shallow recess over the side surface 5 and is bounded by an edge 17, which is formed for example by a step.
- the edge 17 connects the narrow sides 10 and 8 so that the pocket 16 occupies the entire width of the tool 1.
- the width of the tool 1 the distance of the narrow side 10 is considered to the narrow side 8.
- the bag 16 is a three-sided open pocket, longitudinally is limited by the edge 17.
- a tool 1 which has a wear-reducing coating on its tool base body 2, which serves as a wear-protection element 15.
- the tool body 2 is provided at a suitable location with a recess on the bottom of which the coating is built up, for example, by plasma spraying.
- the coating used is preferably an oxide-ceramic material.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to tools for a tufting machine or other textile machine, which are subjected to increased wear during the manufacturing process of textile surfaces. In particular, the invention relates to loop grippers which temporarily grasp one or more loops pierced by a carrier material and the knives associated with the loop grippers which cut the detected loops. Dies according to the invention can also be used for needles, parts of needles, selection parts, all parts which are essentially used for the formation or processing of stitches and loops.
In particular, loop-type grabs are used in large numbers in tufting machines. They usually have a gripper body with a holding portion and a loop taker portion which extends away from the holder portion like a finger. The gripper body is formed in many cases by a flat sheet metal part having flat sides and narrow sides. Frequently, the loop taker also cooperates with a cutting blade which is adapted to cut loops received by the gripper.

The advantage of this solution is that micro-movements between the rigid cemented carbide insert and the relatively more elastic gripper body are possible. The gripper body remains flexible, bending stresses being largely kept away from the cemented carbide insert. However, the solution finds its limitations when the use is very brittle, so that it could be damaged when deforming the edge of the bag.
It is an object of the invention to provide a tool and a manufacturing method for this, wherein the possibilities of material selection to be increased.
This object is achieved with the tool according to claim 1 and the production method according to claim 12:
The tool according to the invention has a base body which comprises a region which preferably has a recess or recess in which a sprayed-on Coating is provided. While the tool body is made of a first material, the sprayed coating is made of another, preferably harder and more wear-resistant material. The region which has the depression, for example in the form of a pocket, is preferably provided on a flat side of the tool base body. The pocket in this area can be formed by a shallow depression, which is a few tenths of a millimeter, for example, only two tenths of a millimeter deep. The bag may have a flat, eg flat bottom and an all-round edge. This all-around border can have multiple breaks. The bag may, as is preferred, have a discontinuous edge which is, for example, open towards the lower narrow side of the tool, ie missing. In other words, the bag can thus be open in addition to a narrow side of the tool. Moreover, it is at least possible, although not currently preferred, for the pocket to extend around a narrow side of the tool over the two flat sides of the tool base facing away from one another.
It is also possible that the pocket has a depth of 0 mm, with the result that the area and the pocket have identical characteristics. The bag is then part of the flat side of the tool. In other words, the bottom of the bag is identical to the flat side of the tool. As a result, the wear-resistant material is connected to the tool flat side. The area in which the pocket is located is usually in contact with the loop or loop. It is thus the receiving or contact area, the mesh or the loop.
The sprayed in the bag coating preferably has only a small thickness, wherein the coating but is firmly connected to the material of the body of the tool. The sprayed-on coating adheres firmly to the entire surface of the tool body. Preferably, the coating has a smooth, even or rounding of the tool body following surface shape. The layer thickness of the coating is preferably uniform over the entire surface of the coating. Eventually, the thickness of the coating in a peripheral zone may change towards the edge, for example decrease or increase.
Because of the small thickness of the coating and the intimate cohesive connection between the coating and the body of the tool can be used as a coating and a brittle hard material. It also makes it possible to create very slim tools, which measured from flat to flat side have only a very small thickness. These are then despite the use of a brittle hard material, such. a metal oxide or an oxide ceramic, as a coating still somewhat flexible and allow e.g. the production of particularly fine textile surfaces.
The coating applied in the pocket thus forms a wear protection element, which is comparable in terms of wear protection effect to the hard metal elements used in the earlier prior art. The wear protection element is applied by a spraying method such as plasma spraying, flame spraying, arc spraying. It is liable by itself without the aid of auxiliaries. No solder or glue is required. Also, no subsequent mechanical machining operations, such as plastic deformation of the edge of the pocket, are required to secure the wear protection element.
Between the wear protection element formed by the coating and the tool body is a good and intimate connection by adhesion. The thermal load of the body of the tool is low in the production of the coating.
Due to the firm connection of the wear protection element formed by the coating and of the tool body, a one-piece part is produced. Falling out of the wear protection element no longer has to be feared. The wear-resistant layer can be selected from a wide range of possible materials that, taken alone, could not be used as single solids. For example, the coating may be an oxide ceramic material. As materials, Al 2 O 3 , a mixture of Al 2 O 3 and TiO 2 , CrO 2 , TiO 2 , ZrO 2 , Y 2 O, a mixture of HfO 2 and Y 2 O 3 , Cr 2 C 3 and other oxides and / or Carbide find application. It is also possible to apply metallic coatings, for example consisting of tungsten, chromium, titanium or other metals or metal alloys.
The surface of the coating obtained after plasma spraying, electric arc spraying or flame spraying may, if necessary, be reground, polished, lobed or otherwise processed. In particular, it is possible to form functional structures on the coating, such as a cutting edge or a sliding surface for a cutting blade.
The coating may remain below the edge of the bag. In many cases it is considered expedient to connect the surface of the coating flush with the surface surrounding the pocket. The transition from the side surface or flat side of the gripper body to the surface the wear protection element is then stepless. Such a stepless transition can also be made on the lower narrow side of the tool body.
It is also possible to carry out the coating somewhat raised. In this case, the transition from the flat side to the coating material can be formed with a rounded rise. It is also possible to remove all or part of the supernatant of the coating material so as to be able to penetrate between the flat side of the tool body and the coating e.g. to form a defined step height or a stepless transition.
The coating is preferably microporous. Thus, the coating can absorb small amounts of lubricant that cause an emergency lubrication and prevent or reduce a disruption of the surface of the coating by the abrasive action of a cutting blade.
