Definitions
- the invention relates to a specified in the claims 1 and 2 hearing aid, such as a hearing aid, with a controllable feedback suppression unit for suppressing acoustic feedback and a specified in claim 10 method for suppressing acoustic feedback in hearing devices.
- FIG. 1 schematically reproduced hearing aid.
- the hearing aid can be reproduced as a digital system 1, which is located in an acoustic environment.
- the input forms, for example, a microphone 2.
- the recorded signal 9 is amplified, inter alia, and emitted again via a receiver 3.
- Acoustic coupling from the receiver 3 back to the microphone 2 takes place via a physical feedback path 4.
- the recorded signal 9 thus consists of the sum of an incidental useful signal 8 and the signal via the feedback path 4.
- feedback whistling occurs when both the Amplitude, as well as the phase condition is met. Sound artifacts occur even if the above conditions are only approximately fulfilled.

- the reproduction takes place by means of an adaptive filter 5, which is fed by the receiver signal.
- the receiver signal in turn comes from a hearing aid-internal signal processing unit 6, which receives the microphone signal and amplified among others. After filtering in the adaptive Compensation filter, the listener signal is subtracted from the microphone signal in an adder 7.
- step size control An important component in the adaptive algorithm for compensation of the feedback path is its step size control. It indicates the speed with which the adaptive compensation filter 5 adapts to the physical feedback path 4. Since there is no meaningful compromise for a fixed step size, it must be adapted to the current situation in which the system is located. In principle, a large step size for a rapid adaptation of the adaptive compensation filter 5 to the physical feedback path 4 should be aimed for. A disadvantage of the large step size is the generation of perceptible signal artifacts.
- the step size should be vanishingly small. If, on the other hand, a critical feedback situation occurs, the step size should become large. This ensures that the algorithm adapts the adaptive compensation filter 5 only if it differs significantly in its characteristic from the characteristic of the physical feedback path 4, that is, if there is a need for post-adaptation. This requires a feedback detector.
- the hearing device has an analysis device for analyzing the resonance behavior of the overall system as a function of From a modification of a signal processing means and for determining a feedback quantity, which is a measure of the feedback, from the analysis result.

- proximity sensors common proximity sensors, such as infrared or ultrasonic sensors, can be used.
- the DE 10 2005 037895 B3 specifies a hearing device with a sound output device for emitting a test sound in the ultrasonic range, so that no audible sound must be used to measure a room acoustics.
- the DE 10 2004 050304 B3 specifies a hearing aid and method for improving the reduction of feedback.
- an output signal is inaudibly modulated by means of a modulation unit for a hearing aid wearer.
- the modulation of the output signal can be done by amplitude or phase modulation as well as by modulation of the signal curve.
- the modulated output signal is fed back to a microphone of the hearing aid.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a specified in the
To suppress the feedback effects, a method is known in which the physical feedback path 4 is digitally modeled. The reproduction takes place by means of an adaptive filter 5, which is fed by the receiver signal. The receiver signal in turn comes from a hearing aid-internal
Thus, there are two paths in the system, once the physically existing feedback path 4 and once the digital compensation path mimicked by the adaptive filter 5. Since the resulting signals of both paths at the input of the device are subtracted from each other, ideally the effect of the physical feedback path 4 is canceled.
An important component in the adaptive algorithm for compensation of the feedback path is its step size control.
For a far subcritical feedback case, the step size should be vanishingly small.

Tiefpassfilter 19, Differenzierer 20 und Schellwertgeber 21 bilden zusammen eine Änderungsdetektionseinheit 22.Stepping control is crucial for optimal, fast tracking. For this purpose, the
