the extension cable (2) is divided into a front cable section (2-1) and a rear cable section (2-2); wherein the two cable sections (2-1, 2-2) are connected to one another by a rotary coupling (4), so that the two cable sections (2-1, 2-2) can be turned relative to one another; wherein an at least twin-core cable plug (6) is electrically connected to the front end of the front cable section (2-1), the said cable plug being in the form of a mains plug which fits into a plug socket of the public power supply system; wherein an at least twin-core cable coupling (8) is electrically connected to the rear end of the rear cable section (2-2), the said cable coupling having a structure which does not match the cable plug (6) and as a result cannot be electrically connected, but rather can be plug-connected only to a cable plug which is adapted to it or to an electrical plug which is adapted to it and fastened in a stationary manner to a pipe machining device, in order to form an electrical connection, wherein the cable coupling (8) has a central coupling pin (10) which is composed of electrically insulating material and which contains at least two plug bushes (12, 13, 14) which are composed of electrically conductive material and which do not project out of the coupling pin (10) to the rear, in such a way that an at least twin-core electrical plug can be plugged on, wherein said extension cable is formed in the manner of a thread as a multiple helix (30) in the rear cable section (2-2) at least on a portion of its length, so that said helix looks like a helical spring and can be expanded in a spring-elastic manner in the longitudinal direction of the cable. - Extension cable according to Claim 1,
characterized
in that the cable coupling (8) has a mechanical locking device (8-1) for locking the cable coupling to an at least twin-core electrical plug (20) which can be plug-connected to it.
