Abstract

An air conditioner and an operating method thereof are disclosed. A remote controller searches addresses of connected plural indoor units, assigns addresses of the respective indoor units based on the address data received from the indoor units, and automatically assigns names of the respective indoor units to display the indoor units so that the indoor units can be easily distinguished when being controller remote, the names of the indoor units are automatically inputted without manual manipulation. Therefore, a user can conveniently use and effective management of the plural indoor units is remarkably improved.
