Figur 1 zeigt eine schematische Darstellung der Systemarchitektur eines erfindungsgemäßen elektronischen Wartungsbuchs. Der Fahrzeugrechner 14 koppelt die übertragenen Informationen an Fahrzeugdaten, beispielsweise an einen aktuellen Kilometerstand des Fahrzeugs, das aktuelle Datum und/oder die Fahrzeugfahrgestellnummer, wobei der Fahrzeugrechner 14 diese Informationen beispielsweise von dem Subsystemrechner 30 erhalten kann. Der Subsystemrechner 30 kann ein Instrumentierungsrechner oder ein EAC-/EBS-Steuergerät sein. Neben den bereits genannten Fahrzeugdaten können auch Fehlerinformationen und die aktuelle GPS-Position bei der Erstellung des elektronischen Wartungsbuchs verwendet werden. Nach der Verknüpfung aller erhaltenen Informationen speichert der Fahrzeugrechner 14 den erzeugten Datensatz in dem Speicher 16 ab, wobei insbesondere ältere Wartungsarbeiten, die an dem Fahrzeug 12 durchgeführt worden sind und als Datensatz ebenfalls in dem Speicher 16 gespeichert wurden, nicht überschrieben werden. Zusätzlich überträgt und speichert der Fahrzeugrechner 14 den erzeugten Datensatz an den weiteren Speicher 18 und je nach Art der durchgeführten Wartungsarbeiten an verschiedene andere Speicher 20, 22, wobei in den anderen Speichern 20, 22 verschiedene Teile des Informationsinhaltes des elektronischen Wartungsbuchs gespeichert werden. Dies kann beispielsweise notwendig sein, wenn ein Austauschmotor in das Fahrzeug 12 eingebaut wird, der eine von dem ursprünglichen Motor unterschiedliche Wartungsgeschichte und Laufleistung aufweist. Claims (9)

  1. Method for operating an electronic maintenance book (10) for a vehicle (12), wherein maintenance operations carried out are linked to vehicle data and stored in a memory (16) located in the vehicle (12), and wherein several other memories (20, 22) are located in the vehicle (12), characterised in that
    - the information content of the electronic maintenance book (10) which is stored in the memory (16) is in parts stored in the several other memories (20, 22) in the vehicle (12), the parts together providing a copy of the electronic maintenance book (10),
    - the several other memories (20, 22) contain parts of the electronic maintenance book which are related to the assembly in which they are located, and
    - following the replacement of an assembly with one of the other memories (20, 22), an updated electronic maintenance book (10) is generated from the other memories (20, 22) now newly provided in the vehicle (12) and transferred into the memory (16).
  2. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that the information content of the electronic maintenance book (10) which is stored in the memory (16) is stored as a copy in at least one further memory (18) in the vehicle (12).
  3. Method according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that
    - a vehicle computer (14) of the electronic maintenance book (10) is informed of maintenance operations carried out on the vehicle (12), and
    - the vehicle computer (14) updates the electronic maintenance book (10) accordingly.
  4. Method according to claim 3, characterised in that a communication between the vehicle computer (14) and a connectable service computer (24) external to the vehicle is encrypted.
  5. Method according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that
    - information related to spare parts (26, 28) is transmitted to the electronic maintenance book (10) via the service computer (24), and
    - the transmitted information is linked to the vehicle data and stored in the electronic maintenance book (10).
  6.   8. Electronic maintenance book (10) according to claim 6 or 7, characterised in that the electronic maintenance book (10) comprises a vehicle computer (14) which can be connected to a service computer (24) external to the vehicle.
